Luckily I needed a carpet vacuum as well. This vacuum is killer on carpets. 5 Stars actually. Bare floors ------- TERRIBLE. It basically shoots dirt across the room do to the direction of the motor vent. Also , not good against baseboards. I will have to purchase another unit for floors. Probably a Dirt Devil
