Customers are delighted by the CrossWave All-in-One Multi-Surface Cleaner's excellent cleaning performance and ease of use, finding it lightweight and effective on various floor types. However, some customers expressed concerns about the cord length and price point, while others suggested improvements to the water tank design. The cleaner's ability to handle multiple surfaces is a significant plus for many users.

Unclear instructions and poor mopping power

This combo unit allows you to sweep (ie, vacuum) and mop simultaneously. You can use it on hard surfaces (tile, stone, wood) and area rugs, though it's unclear how thick your rugs can be. It comes with a cleaning fluid for hard surfaces, a cleaning fluid for area rugs and three rollers (two for hard surfaces and one for area rugs I believe).
You fill up a tank on the back of the vacuum/mop with water and cleaning fluid (to preset levels depending on the area of surface to clean). You then prime the pump for 10 seconds and go.
What I noticed is that although the vacuum suction is adequate, the scrubbing power of the rollers (which are supposed to take the place of mopping) is not so good. Thus, it's difficult to really get your floors cleaned to the same extent as you can when you sweep and mop.
Additionally, I couldn't find anything in the instructions about how often you have to pump fluid from the back reservoir down into the rollers and onto the floor while cleaning. This also makes it difficult to know how much to use and if you're using too little or too much (ie, wasting some cleaning fluid).
Cleanup involves taking the dirty water tank off and apart, pulling the roller out and pulling the reservoir out. You then wash everything and let everything dry for 24 hours.
In summary, this does only an adequate job. And, to me, the cons outweigh the pros.

I have the following; carpet, laminate, ceramic tile, and porcelain tile in my home. We have 2 teenagers 2 cats, 1 toddler, and 1 large heavy shedding dog. I bought this vacuum because we have been moving away from carpet and laminate and have more and more hard surfaces which DO NOT hide dirt and hair like carpet (false sense of security). I watched reviews on this product and the pet version. My consensus was that the differences were tiny and not worth paying extra. I was thrilled to see how much came with this item 3 HUGE bottles of cleaner and 3 tiny bottles. Exrta brushes. It did a great job of cleaning my floor I am thrilled. The floor FEELS clean which with all the above mentioned creatures is magic in and of itself.

It did a great job on the open areas of my wood and tile floors. The only issue with it is there were some spaces where it just couldn't clean. i.e. corners, a half inch off the wall, and the space between the toilet and sink.

I have ceramic tile, hard wood floors, and area rugs. I have yet to find a scrubber/vac that could do the job of all three. This one is the ticket! I normally would not take the time to write a review for anything. However, this product far and away exceeded my expectation. I was amazed the amount of dirt that the CrossWave picked up on all three surfaces. I researched this product before buying. The only negative I could find was the post cleaning clean up of the CrossWave itself. Having used a number of other vacuums and scrubbers, the cleanup of the CrossWave is nothing. Bissell, you have a winner with this product!

Weak mopping action and unclear instructions

Not very impressed with this product. Is it a vacuum? Is it a mop? Is it for carpets? Is it for hard floors? Well, the instructions say hard floors and area rugs, but what does that mean? Hard floors I understand, but area rugs? Some area rugs are thin and flat, some are shaggier than the plushest of plush carpets. So, is it okay to use it on those? Who knows because Bissell doesn't tell you.
I gave the Crosswave a shot but found that its mopping power is weak. It just doesn't really scrub the floor like the way a mop can/does. Also, again, Bissell doesn't tell you how often you need to "pull the trigger" to eject more cleaning solution down into the roller and, hence, the floor. I have a feeling that they keep you in the dark so that you will use up the solution and buy more and more and more. No thanks.
Lastly, clean up is a pain. Cleaning the dirty water tank is disgusting to say the least - imagine everything you vacuum up from the floor (hair, food, etc.), mix it with water and you get the picture. Again, no thanks.
I think we'll stick to sweeping and mopping the old fashioned way.

Straight out of the box, I went immediately to my area rugs...PERFECT JOB! Then to my hardwood floors. The only issue is if something is really stuck to the floor, the machine can't get it, you have to help it. Otherwise, just like the rugs...PERFECT JOB!

For 10 years I looked for something that would clean my travertine floors in one step like this beast can. I have been through 4 other machines that claimed to work only to get rid of them and go back to sweeping and mopping to keep my floors from having ugly streaks. Here is my advice. Stop looking elsewhere and buy this unit. You won’t be disappointed. ‘This machine cleaned my grout lines to where is looks new. Nice job Bissell.

My only complaint is that it does not clean edges or corners well. I had to resort to my sponge mop to clean the areas the cross wave would not reach, otherwise, I would give it 5 stars.

Bissell poor customer service

Please make sure you buy the Best Buy extra warranty on this product because Bissell's warranty for this model is only two years. During the last three years, I have replaced 3 Crosswave models 1785, the first 2 I used the best buy warranty, unfortunately, the last one I did not buy the extra warranty and guess what... It fails too. So I contacted Bissell Customer service, and they did not help; the warranty expired four months ago. And they don't care, poor customer service, so again don't forget to buy the Bestbuy warranty.

Is it even vacuum

It doesn’t pick up dust, sand, dirt and feather! I have to go again with a broom and scoop after using this “vacuum”. U might say - you need to clean it. I do that every time after use and it still doesn’t work as it says on tv comercials. Very upset. Waste of almost $300. A vacuum for $20 works better than this noise maker!

So after having this vacuum for ~.5 month it completely turns off when I try to use it. Too late to return. Great.
Even prior to this issue, it was a very messy vacuum that would only work for small areas...10 minutes if that of work. But honestly, 200 for a vacuum that doesn't even work.

Bissell is garbage. Bought their autocleaner (hand held, rotating brush) vacuum. It failed in short order. They said it was the battery. Sent a new one. Didn't work (was not the battery). Said they sent, not were going to send, a new unit. Didn't. Then, as time went by told me it was discontinued and I could get a credit. Right. I have had all the Bissell fail I want. Garbage produce from an no integrity company.

Worst purchase I ever made. Intake constantly plugs. I have 1 cat and 2 area rugs. Within 1 minute of a thorough cleaning, intake plugs and you have to clear it. Can't handle hair at all. If you have pets, avoid. Also not very good on my hard wood floors. Avoid.
