One of the issues with many upright vacuums is how hard it is to move them on some carpets. I was pleased to see that the Bissel Pet Hair Eraser has an adjustable floor type setting for multi-surface cleaning: multiple suctions for high and low carpet and wood floors. Just slide the setting up up or down and it maneuvers very easily around furniture which makes vacuuming easy. It is very light which is great to carry up and down the stairs. The pet hair eraser really works. It found hair where I thought there was none. The SmartSeal Allergen System was very efficient. A big plus for a family that has pets and suffers the effects of dust in the air, especially during vacuuming. This vacuum has almost everything I could ask for: powerful suction, easy to empty, easy to use, lightweight and long power cord. I was not as impressed when cleaning hard wood floor but maybe I was in a hurry when I tried it and did not try to figure out if I was doing something wrong. It was not bad but I was expecting more after seeing how efficient it was on the carpet. To be fair, after I finished, I realized that I could have tried to tweak the setting which worked so well on different carpets. Other than that, I would only complain a little about the wand: it is a bit short. I am happy with the product and would easily recommend it.

Got this to replace my five year old vacuum that had lost its bite. Whoa! I didn’t know what I was missing. I vacuumed 3 days ago with the old one and today this Bissell found stuff I didn’t even see. The suction on the low carpet setting is unreal. The brush works well for cleaning window sills and there is a crevasse attachment with led light to get in the couch cracks. It’s not as “lightweight” as I would’ve thought but it’s not heavy. Not a dealbreaker for me at all. Great price for a great vacuum.

This vacuum is one of the first vacuums I've used with the "tangle free" roller, this feature is a dream come true. My cats are constantly digging at my rugs, creating little snags all over the floor in their room. When I would vacuum that rug with my old vacuum, I would constantly have to stop, and pull out large strands of rug, that the cats had pulled up just high enough to get stuck in the rollers. Vacuuming that room has always been a hassle, because either I was pulling apart the rollers afterwards, or I would have to get the extension wand and go over any potential "problem" areas, and take my time trying not to unravel more of the rug. Yesterday, I put this vacuum to the test, I ran over every inch on that rug, and not one tangle, or pull. My rug was completely fine, and very clean to boot. The suction is very strong and seems to be pretty constant no matter what the filled capacity of the dirt canister was. (5-stars here) I also love that this comes with several LED lights on the roller housing , and there is even one on the extension wand - so very helpful, makes finding the dirt even easier ! Everything about this vacuum is designed for convenience, the pivot angle of the roller head is pretty awesome, it makes for getting around chairs and obstacles a breeze. Quick releases for the extension hose, and attachments, make it easy to grab dirt along the edges, without wasting time getting back to the rest of the rug. Plus, it's definitely lighter than my older vacuum. So overall this has great vacuuming results, especially as I haven't seen one hair or carpet strand get snagged at all on the roller. It has an easy to empty dirt canister and great user friendly features!

The vacuum is lightweight and very easy to maneuver. It picks up so much hair that I was quite startled to see so much extra hair that had been missed by my older vac. It’s easy to assemble and easy to empty when the canister is full. I have a much more expensive vac and this is picking up better than that. I highly recommend

The only thing that keeps this vacuum from competing with the "big boys" is build quality. Bissell makes "good" vacuums that are constructed of flimsy plastic and don't seal as well as their 2x price competitors. The bright colors are a little obvious too - I love the big head brush on this, and the suction is good - We admittedly only have one pet, but hair is hair and its everywhere... And don't let anyone tell you kids don't shed as bad as dogs do! We used this for a few weeks before fully deciding how to review. It did the job, but just doesn't feel as substantial as some of the other vacs we tried. It's true that you get what you pay for, but this one is a good deal if styling and maneuverability aren't worth paying twice as much for in your book...

The best part of this vacuum is the lighted crevice tool. I've never had a vacuum with this feature and it's great for all the dark places you need a crevice tool for. The wand is quite long and makes high corner cobweb cleaning easy. However, one drawback for me was that this vacuum is not a lift-away, meaning that although the wand is plenty long, the canister does not detach. If you need extra height or length, you have to lift the whole vacuum, not just the cannister. The "Tangle Free" claim of the main roller brush might be optimistic. I found that shorter pet hair did not tangle so much but long people hair tended to wrap around, as did thread, string, etc. I didn't weigh the Bissel but it feels heavier than it looks like it should. I was very pleased with the suction power and the job it did on rugs but our home is mostly hardwood and I found that the Bissell left lines of dust, where our Shark DuoClean with the soft brushroll does not. The Bissell is great for carpet and the motorized rotary accessory does a really nice job on pillows, couch cushions and such but as our floor is mostly hardwood I have to deduct a star for dust collection. It doesn't do a bad job, probably a 7.5 out of 10 but not what I had hoped for. Oh, and it's screaming green and purple so you'll want to make sure you have room in your closet or appliance garage or the Bissel will be the focal point of your room. If you have to vacuum your furniture and have mostly carpet, the Pet Hair Eraser is a great choice. If you have hard floors, not so much.

4 years later, still going strong. Had to replace 1 belt and the brush roll once, as expected. Awesome vacuum.

I liked the Vacumn but some spots had to run over three or four times. Very nice attachments and extremely long cord. I does the job and gets the hair up. Check it out

The Bissell is by far the best purchase you will make for a vacuum. It is extremely easy to put together, and the filter that comes with it, is actually a febreze filter. So when you vacuum your house, not only will it look brand new, it will smell clean and crisp. This vacuum is made very well, you can tell the parts are quality. It has a very long cord, which is really nice because you do not have to keep plugging and unplugging around the house. It has a powerful suction that picks up all the dirt, does not fling around. You will be keeping this vacuum for years.

After one use, I'm returning this to Best Buy. Within the first few seconds of the first use, I started getting static electricity shocks. The static shocks occurred every few seconds unless I was careful not to get anywhere near the parts that seemed to shock the most. Unfortunately, that just meant that it gave more time build up an even more powerful static shock. At one point I turned off the lights to see how far the shock would reach. One of the stronger shocks got me from probably 4" away. A shock that strong certainly gets your attention! It really did get to the point that it just became painful and annoying to vacuum the carpets. The hose connection to the wand could use some refinements. I disconnected the hose to use of the attachments and dirt fell all over. It seems there's no way to disconnect the hose to use the attachments without making a mess. The headlights are almost pointless, but I expected that when I bought it. Just don't think of the headlights as a selling point and you won't be disappointed. Dumping the tank also proved to be messy. I'm not a fan of those tanks that empty by dropping the bottom open. They just seem to drop dirt all over. Unfortunately, it seems nearly all vacuums are being designed this way. The only positive I saw was the fact that it picked up dirt. But it's a vacuum, so I guess it did the job.

Don’t buy if you have a long haired dog

I hate this vacuum with a fiery burning passion. No, seriously. I bought it because I got tired of cutting hair out of the roller of my Shark. And this vacuum holds true to its promise that no hair gets caught in the roller. That’s the only plus. It worked for the first maybe two times I used it. Then, it started making dreadlocks out of my Newfoundland’s hair. It goes for about 2-5’ Then it starts making a knocking sound. You lift the vacuum up a bit and it spits out a skein of hair, like a bundle of wool. Sometimes I get two skeins. I keep vacuuming for another few feet while thie vacuum keeps wool-gathering. Argh!! I have an 1100sf apartment. I pick up over a dozen dreadlocks of hair every time I vacuum. Every. Time. I use my Shark after using this Bissell and it still gets a ton of hair and dirt from the carpet. This vacuum may work fine for people with short haired dogs like Labs, Beagles or Frenchies. Even medium haired dogs like a Husky or a Malamute. But if you have a Newf, Great Pyrenees, Golden, etc....don’t waste your money.

I used to own a bissell vacuum for 5 years and we decided to get a new vacuum. We have a husky and needed a vacuum to withstand the hair problem they have. I looked at reviews and we went and got this vacuum. Well when I started out I could smell a burning hair smell flipped the vacuum over and the throat from the Brussels to the vacuum tube was clogged. Well the throat is only 2 fingers wide and could barely stand the hair pickup and this was after 10 minutes of running. Cleaned dit out and tried again. The Brissels got stuck from hair then the dang vacuum are itself alive. After 30 minutes of owning it. Returned it and got a shark apex zero m was onsale for 299 and has been the best decision. If you have a husky get the shark apex zero-m
