Worse vacuum for anyone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Within a month after purchasing the vacuum the belt came off. I was able to put the belt back on. After two more uses it came off again. I called Bissell customer service and they sent me a new belt. This belt coming off has happened over 20 times now. Bissell has sent me 1 new belt and 1 new roller. Bissell will not replace the vacuum cleaner although it malfunctions. I have had 2 other Bissell vacuums in the past with no problems. I am discussed with the way that Bissell is handling my situation. I would not recommend this vacuum for my worse enemy!

Great buy but a few flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very happy to get the Bissel Powerglide Lift-Off Pet Plus vacuum for our house. Our older (2003) Bissel model was getting on in years. Right out of the box, the instructions on how to assemble this item were pretty much clear except for how the tools go in the holders. I eventually figured it out , though. Unfortunately, I was unable to use the bonus Fabreze filter. I opened the bag, took it out and started sneezing from the strong scent. BUt I have to say that many scents do bother me. So do not allow this to discourage you, as most will probably be ok with the filter. As for the usage of the vacuum, the directions seemed to be clear but I could not figure out how to get the item to recline. After looking all over the piece, I finally noticed a shoe symbol on top of the brush head housing. It would be nice if this little tip could be in the manual next time. I didn't have a hard time pushing it around, even though the unit is VERY heavy. The swiveling of the front of the vacuum was a nice addition. Our previous one does not have that. But I will say that our older one does have the capability to go flat on the ground. This way you can really get under tables and , sofas, and chairs. This one only reclines a little, not flat to the floor. I vacuumed our carpet with and without the roller brush. It did a great job at getting up all the dirt and debris. It's also not that loud which is nice. I did use the hose with the pet attachment for our gauzy curtains. I reduced the suction(good feature) and found that even though I did that, the brush inside the attachment kinda got in the way. It would be great if they could just have something like a tube with holes or a smooth triangle to do those types of jobs. This tool may work better on different types of curtains. It does work really well on chairs and pillow, though. And I can now stop buying all those sticky rollers to clean our lamp shades because this works so much better. The stairs, I used the crevice tool. I know the manual states that the pet attachment would be more appropriate but our carpets are falling apart. So I did not want to mess up the tool for future use. Also, when I went to clean the steps, I detached the canister from the base. Fairly straightforward to remove and reattach. But if you need to vacuum the second floor one will HAVE to detach the canister from the base and carry each unit up the stairs separately. The vacuum, as a whole, as previously stated, is VERY heavy. Emptying the dust cup is a bit of a challenge. The older Bissel that we own, we just have to swing a lever, the cup comes down and we empty it. With this model, the cup is a LOT larger and the bottom drops out after pressing the release button. A bit more of a mess than our previous one. Taking it apart in order to clean the filters was a little tough to do. There's a purple ring holding in the round filter that is pretty difficult to get off the base. As was pulling apart the plastic cylinder inside the dust cup. One has to twist and pull and frankly I thought my hand was going to come off. But the door for the HEPA filter was much easier to remove. Replacing it on the unit was a bit tricky. I was able to accomplish it finally. Cleaning the inside of the vacuum and the dust cup was a so much better than out older one. NO matter what I do I cannot get that one clean. With this model, use a duster from a certain company beginning with 'S'. Works wonders for the unit. Overall, I would recommend this for your home even though there are a few challenges. I think this vacuum, in short, would make a wonderful addition to any home.BONUS>>>> Bissel is donating 10$ per vacuum if you buy this model. Very cool

Worked Great - for 2 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first 2 months it worked great - loved the removable canister, the couch and stair attachments. But it completely stopped sucking up everything at all after about 8 uses. It would spit piles of debris all over the house. Then, after taking it apart, using a long stick to clear out the hose, it worked again for about a month, then the roller stopped as well as the suction. I kept the roller clean, filters clean, it's just a piece of junk. BUY THE WARRANTY if you decide to purchase - now that I read all the reviews, I see this happened to others. Yes, I have 3 people with long hair and 3 pets - but it's marketed to be great for this purpose.
