Got my wife this for Christmas because we moved last month and she's never had carpet before and we have lots of pets. We don't let the floor get bad and are good and cleaning up accidents but this is a whole other game changer. I can't believe what this stuff is pulling up from the people before us and our complex not cleaning well.. must have especially if you have pets!

I didn't want to go through the trouble of renting a Rug Doctor and I had some cleaning to do at the house (getting a room ready), so I splurged on this. I have to say I only have two complaints: the clean water container tends to run out surprisingly fast - and that the unit's loud (to my ears, anyway). That said, I put on ear protection and just got used to paying a bit more attention to the clean water level. The device pulled a -lot- of crud out of the carpet I didn't know was there. Granted, the roommate who had the room didn't do a good job keeping it clean. But that was a perfect test for this cleaner. There were a few stains from PC coolant & drinks - and a smell - to be cleaned up. I used one of the sample chemical bottles that came with the unit and it cleaned the whole room with some to spare. I wish I'd chosen the non-anti-bacterial one, though, as it left the room smelling of...geriatric person. But there are other cleaning products to choose from so I'm not worried about that point. The spot cleaning function worked well at the particularly stained spots - then I just slowly pulled the cleaner over the spot per the instructions. Keeping a steady pace is the trick, if there is one. But the cleaner laid down the spray in a tight line and did a good job at removing most of the liquid (even on the deep clean setting, the carpet was still dry in ~4 hours. I made 3 wet passes and one drying pass (again, per the instructions) as part of the deep cleaning cycle. The carpet was markedly cleaner than before and it was easy to see what the cleaner had pulled out of the carpet. It didn't take that long to complete a room & closet (maybe 45 minutes, including the couple clean water/cleaner refills). Be prepared to break it down to individual components when you're cleaning the unit itself. It wasn't hard to clean - mostly just rinsing and letting dry before putting back together and storing. It's definitely more than you'd be doing during a regular vacuuming, but not so much that you'd never use the cleaner again. We don't have pets, but considering the lint that was pulled out, I don't see most pet hair being a problem. Maybe if you have a herd of huskies, but I'll assume you'll already know how to deal with that craziness. If you know you'll deep clean your carpets and take care of the unit when you're finished, I'd say this is a good buy. It can also do hard floors with an additional accessory purchase, but I haven't tried that yet.

Its a moderate carpet cleaner. Nothing to make a fuss about but it gets the job done. Especially with the little shot button for tough stains.

Even got out stains my old cleaner didn't, and no complications from dog and cat hair. Can't think of any shortcomings.

I do not have any pets. I just wanted something that would work. It does a great job cleaning. It is not hard to use or operate.

Believe the reviews here and elsewhere online! This machine is a beast and works extremely well. No wonder it keeps maintaining the #1 spot for home carpet cleaners in all the head to head comparison tests. It literally destroys stains! Case: We found a blue raspberry spill on carpet that was "hidden" under an end table. Who knows how long it had been there. Using the clear shot feature we were able to easily pre-soak the stain and let it sit for ~20 minutes before using the proheat 2x revolution pro beast cleaner upper to tackle the stain with little to no effort. Yes a lot has to do with the quality of the Bissell cleaning solutions (provided with the machine), but the brushes scrub really well and the suction power is second to none. We've been able to make use of the everyday cleaning setting as well to refresh area rugs as well as a carpeted play room. While the device itself may be heavy/cumbersome for some to haul up and down stairs, the cleaning ability of this machine makes it worth it. Setup/installation is easy. My only gripe was the screw to hold in the cord wrap/handle was a pain to screw in if everything isn't in 100% perfect alignment. Not a deal breaker, just a pain in the butt for what should be a 5 minute unboxing/setup experience.

I have went through two or three carpet cleaners over the years.the Bissell by far is the best. It works better than the units you rent. I was more than amazed at how it scrubbed and sucked the dirt out of my carpets. Also you get a book that tells you every part number and how to take it apart and clean or repair if needed.

Worth every penny. Works excellent and very easy to use. It completes the job entirely
