Great little vacuum

This was my first experience with a robot vacuum and was very pleased. For starters, I live in a very sandy area and sand is being tracked into the house daily which isn't so great when both my daughter and I like to walk around the house with bare feet. Don't get me wrong, this little machine isn't going to replace your main vacuum, but will save you loads of time from having to lug the big one out. I have some back issues so I can't say enough how great it is to have a clean sandless floor and only have to manually vacuum once every week or two. There are no issues with the unit switching from bare floor to rug, and it clean both very well. My problem areas around the house are the dining room and kitchen and it cleans them both up nicely. The unit is a little loud, but really isn't an issue if you take advantage of the scheduling feature. I set the unit to vacuum while I'm at work and when it is done it finds its way back to the docking station. The invisable wall feature is also a handy feature, because it allows you to block off a doorway you don't want the vacuum to venture. All in all, I found this to be a great vacuum that not only was easy to set up and use, but saved me time and back ache while keeping my floors clean and sand free.

My First Robotic Vacuum

My first robot vacuum and I am wondering what took me so long to get one. This little guy is amazing!! My main concern in getting one was how well it would work on carpet, and I couldn't be more happy. It does a wonderful job picking up dirt and is very thourough. My wife is so in love with it, she just sits and watch it do it's thing. It seems to identify all the boundaries in a room and then goes to the middle and starts going in little circles that gradually get better. Another aspect we love about it is how easy it is to clean. Emptying the dirt collector couldn't be easier. My wife has long hair and when the rotating brush gets jammed up with her hair, it snaps out so easy allowing you to remove the hair before putting the robot back in action.
We can't say enough about this robot vacuum. I am a believer

Won't Replace Vacuum, But Will Sure Use It Less!

When I first heard about these robot vacuums years ago I became intrigued. After all these years I always wondered how and how well they worked. I was incredibly excited (more than the wife) when Best Buy allowed me this opportunity and I'll just say after using this product even my wife had to say she was impressed. For the record, we live in a two story house with one cat.
First things first, the success of this vacuum depends on your room situation and floor plans. I don't feel it's fair to knock the rating for this variable. Between it's 5 formation settings I'm sure most people can find one that will work best in their house but keep in mind, like many products, it may work better for some people than others. You may also just have to place it around manually more than others, instead of letting it go from room to room by itself for maximum effectiveness. Regardless, what really matters is how well it works. Which I'm happy to report it works very well!
It has 5 formations: spiral, along walls, z, random and auto. 'Spiral' is good for rounder rooms, 'along the walls' is great for picking up the edges of your house better than you may even with your own vacuum by hand, with 'Z' picture mowing your lawn and that's what this one does which is great for square rooms and probably get's the most thorough cleaning, 'random' is just that which may be good as a quick finishing clean after a regular vacuum session or a random mid-week clean by itself, and then my favorite 'auto', which detects the surroundings as it goes which gets you the fullest effect in my opinion. 'Auto' can be a bit random and sporadic too, but with longer time settings (more on that next) it can finish a room very thoroughly. One thing though, since this product has a really neat auto dock feature, if you let it start from the dock and select say the 'z' formation it will just go straight first. Since my station is placed in the middle of the wall, I would have to pick it up and move it before starting instead of it doing one side of the room and returning to do the rest going over the same area twice. Take that as an issue or not.
It also has a scheduling feature. You can do 1 time a week, everyday, 5 days a week, 6 days a week or 2 days a week weekend only. I haven't had a need for this yet but it's quite nice. Otherwise you can set it manually for 30, 45, or 60 minutes both with auto docking on or off. Plus one setting that I believe will just let it go until a low battery and recharge at the station (and maybe go again?) Right now I prefer to just activate it when I want.
Performance: It has a wheel brush underneath and two detachable cleaning brushes that spin parallel to the ground and stick out from the edges of the machine, while the wheel brush works as a normal vacuum. With the low profile and these side brushes it can really clean hard to reach places, corners and under things extremely well. It can extend it's wheels up and down to get over obstacles with no problem at all which is amusing to watch. It goes over door mats and floor moulding (carpet to hardwood dividers) with no problems either. It got stuck on one of the door mats and another object which was a cat gym and it miraculously got itself out soon after. It's sensors allow it to adapt to the problem by changing direction or extending its wheels and it seems it will eventually get itself out of any situation. I have yet to have to save it! The unit also has a normal mode and a turbo mode. So far I don't see too much of a difference with the turbo mode, although it may be slightly faster. I'm sure it burns through the battery a bit quicker so I'm not too sure how useful it can be. Another cool addition is it comes with a battery operated "invisible wall" device to stop it from going into a specific room. As for stairs or cliffs there is also nothing to worry about as it has sensors for that too!
It's cleaning ability: My wife and I vacuumed the house and left for a short vacation and tried it upon return. We have a really great Shark vacuum so the house was as clean as it could be before we left. After letting this run downstairs for an hour total (mostly hardwoods) and 45 minutes upstairs (all carpet plus linoleum bathrooms) the next time, we were shocked at how much dirt, hair and debris it picked up! On top of this, it's bag-less and really easy to clean. It's a box with a removable filter you can just dump quickly and it's ready to go again. Apparently it also knows to turn it's bristles off when an object is stuck which is pretty cool.
If there is one thing if nothing else to say about this product, is that it's SO much fun to watch! Luckily, it works great too! It's incredibly smart, intuitive, and pretty darn powerful.
The cons: Placement of the recharge station is pretty specific. You need 40 inches on one side and 12 on another with plenty of open space in front of it (for auto docking). This makes it a bit limited to find a place to put it to charge and may effect the use of it's auto-docking feature. Unplugging it also resets the schedule and the clock which is a bummer. If you only have the room to place it manually, it's still no reason to NOT buy the product. I have a feeling since my downstairs is 'L' shaped it may get lost trying to find the docking station on a low battery. I'm not sure how much time it has when it hits low battery, either. It's a rechargeable Li-Ion battery for those wondering. It got hung up on the invisible wall sensor once so beware the potential of that happening although I'm sure this is rare. Depending on your room situation it may not clean every spot and corner, but the longer you keep it in one room the better chance it will. My biggest gripe however is even if you set the formation to one of the 4 individual settings, if it has trouble it will automatically switch it to auto mode. This is to ensure it never gets hung up in an area so it's a smart feature however having the option to turn it off would have been great. In my house In my particular situation I feel it would have benefited from this and I'm sure others would too.

I was given this item to try it out in exchange for an unbiased review.
I have always been a bit weary of these robo-vacuums just because it seems they would never do that good of a job. Then came the Bissell Smart Clean model & I really had So, a while ago I signed up for a program through Best Buy to be a product tester in exchange for an unbiased review. I just got my first product to compare it to.
First, setting it up can be a little confusing, especially when reading the manual and finding out that the unit will not charge unless the power switch is on. You also will need four AAA batteries which are not included if you'd like to set up the "wall" to prevent the unit crossing into an area you do not want it to go in to.
After I let it charge for its initial charge of 4-5 hours, I let it run and have its free range of my apartment for about 45 minutes, curious to see just what and where it would go. It did actually go into very small corners and areas in which I would normally have to lift chairs to fit the regular vacuum to clean and I was very impressed with that. It also found its way out of these areas with relative ease.
It likes to go over and over the same areas many times, or at least that was my observation, and I noticed that it would, eventually, pick up dirt and crumbs on the floor.
I loved the fact that it cleans both carpets and on hard floors as well. I watched that tonight and it seemed to do it quite well.
After many bumps, and back and forths, it found its way to my bedroom and I had to rescue it as it got stuck over a power cord and shut itself off. This is actually a good thing as I believe it's a safety feature if the wheels lose contact with the ground for so long. This was also the case when I lifted it off of the ground a bit later to place it in a different room.
After about 45 minutes of use, I had to empty to the unit's dust bin - doesn't seem like it will hold a lot, which is something to keep in mind if you run it when you're not home.
And on the topic of running it when you're not home, I noticed the unit is rather loud, but then again, I realize it is meant to be used during the day when no one is home.
One feature I look forward to using is the timer in which you can program it go out and clean the house and then return to its base once the battery is low. Seems like a great idea to help keep the floors clean.
Overall I am very pleased with this - my apartment is only 600 square feet so it doesn't require a lot to keep it clean, but I can imagine someone with a large house really using something like this daily. It won't replace your vacuum for big jobs, but it's a great help in keeping the place clean.

I eagerly anticipated this product. When it arrived I followed the instructions on how to set this up. The instructions are only about 75% accurate. Installation of the battery was frustrating - I had put it in as described and repeatedly got an error message. Then I discovered the power switch by accident. Once that was turned on, the battery installation worked.
Setting up the charging station was interesting as well - of course it uses military time and you need to make sure you set both the current day of the week but also set up your cleaning day of the week along with the time. I set my initial cleaning day of the week to today and repeatedly reset the cleaning time - nothing worked. Then I hit the power button on top of the machine. Bingo.
This machine is automatic - not efficient - don't think you can get a single cleaning cycle in without emptying the rather small debris container. Even a relatively clean house will have pet fur etc and that filled the holding tray after an hour. I stopped the unit, turned it off, and dumped the contents. Worked better immediately.
I got two hours out of the cleaning before the vacuum limped back to the charging station.
This will be much better after learning the nuances of the incomplete instructions and the trial and error of the first uses.
Oh, yeah, you have to charge the unit before first use.

A different approach to floor cleaning

I've been a cannister vac guy my whole life, but I've been intrigued with the robot vacuums on the market. So when I got the opportunity to try the new Bissel Smartclean Robotic system, I just had to try it. I was skeptical that a battery driven device could do as good a job as my canister's 14 amp motor so I had to do this. To get to the point, it works!. I had just put up my Christmas tree and I decided to see how it would do with the needles. No problem. The invisible wall confined it to the area I wanted and it was fun to watch it go around the tree, piano and desk, and chair legs. I set the machine on the random setting (there are 5 patterns you can choose from and let it loose. I was pleasantly surprised by the machine as it picked up everything i had dropped during the setup of the tree. So I proceeded to the kitchen and again used the random setting to see how it would handle my tile floor. Again, I set up the invisible wall to keep it contained and let it go. Again, I found the vacuum did a good job. Coverage was pretty complete and with the brushes it truly picked up things along the baseboards. I did have to help it out with the throw rugs as the tended to fold up under it, but most of the time, it went from floor to rug without a problem. I also found that it doesn't do fringe on Oriental rugs to well. But otherwise, it does fine.
You will need to declutter a bit if you want better area coverage. The more obstacles it has to work around, the slower it is in covering the floor. For example, to get under my dining room table, I removed the chairs because the chair legs kept it from getting under the table. On the other hand, it did great getting around the table legs by systematically going around objects over and over again.
My concern with the product is the documentation that Bissel provides. It is sketchy but with common sense, you can figure out how to make it work. Cleanup is easy to do and not as tedious as I've experienced with some other vacuums I've used before. I'll be curious to see how the battery holds up over time, as my laptop batteries tend to die after a few years, but until then, I won't know.
I believe you will find this vacuum a dependable, hands free devise.

This is my first vacuum robot and I was not sure how useful it will be considering the size of the machine and the power expected on it. After a week testing I have a clearly positive feedback and I am definitively impressed by the performance of such tiny machine and the general outcome. I definitively like to turn on the robot when we are leaving the house programing it to return to its base after the full program is executed (90 minutes) and the job is done (if you think, as I did until I started to use it, that you have a clean house, you just need to empty the vacuum filter when you are back). You can setup also the robot base to program the working hours and the weekly schedule, something that simplifies the follow up of the machine. I am very impressed by its capacity to move from one floor type to the next one without problems: tested in the main area with wooden floors, small carpeted area and tiles. Two main recommendations once that you start to use it, please clean the floors of small electrical wires, it’s really the only barrier that stopped my vacuum to finished its job. The vacuum recognize and avoid the physical barriers on your floors but if you are looking for a 100% cleanup try to keep your floors al open as possible (I put the chairs over the tables and I have a better result).
Some aspects that could be improved (3), the working noise is not terrible but I prefer to program it when I am out of the house. I dislike that once turn on and the robot start the program you can not change it and you should run behind it (the control is over the robot) to push the activation/control button to correct your first selection: a remote for that will be an amazing improvement. The sensor over the machine recognize the big walls when is approaching them and avoid the contact before hitting the wall, this make that some areas as narrow corners or corridors are not 100% cleaned.
Final conclusion, this will not replace your major house cleanup but you will be able to do it less often without you doing an extra work. This is a worthy investment for me.

I’ve had Bissell carpet cleaners in the past and loved them. The quality is fantastic. I don’t think the quality of their robot vacuum is quite there, but it’s not bad. And my opinion of this vacuum is going up the more I used it.
I was so excited when it arrived and got it charging immediately to try out. It has to be charged 4-5 hours before the first use, and it lasted about an hour off of that initial charge. After it finished charging, I used the manual setting to have it go all over the room until the battery started to die (then it’s supposed to return itself to the charging dock and charge). With a full charge (I charged it all night before the second use), the vacuum goes for just about 1 ½ hours. I wanted to do the first cleaning while I was home, so I could see how things went.
Initially, it seemed like the “powerful suction” that was promised was lacking. I watched it go right over several visible pieces of dirt on the carpet…and then leave it behind. I also saw the spinning brushes on the side flick stuff out of the way, rather than actually suck it up. When going through the kitchen, the sensors on the vacuum seemed to kick in too soon, and it didn’t go far enough under the counter to pick up some crumbs that were there. However, when I emptied the dustbin (super easy), it had actually picked up a lot more than I thought. Pleasantly surprised by that.
It moved very well. Although the pattern it follows is strange, I think it did cover most of my downstairs. Some spaces got vacuumed multiple times, others not so much. The Invisible Wall that comes with it to block off areas you don’t want vacuumed worked perfectly. It really looked like the vacuum was bumping off of a wall. And it never got itself so stuck that it couldn’t get out again. I would feel comfortable letting it run while I wasn’t home. It was able to move between my carpet and hard floors with no problems as well (and there is a dip that it has to go over to go back and forth). It also found its charging dock, plugged itself in, and began charging itself when the battery ran low.
I still think there’s something to be desired with the suction…it needs to be stronger. But overall, it’s a good starter robot vacuum.

I like the fact that this thing vacuums while allowing me to do other things around the house at the same time. I have a dog that sheds quite a bit and this cleaned up the dog hair pretty decently. However, it seems to have no real sense of direction. It hit the wall and made about a 45 degree turn then went diagonally across the room. Only once did it go around the edge of a wall. I could use it on a daily basis to make the house look clean but I'll still continue using my old vacuum at least once a week for a thorough cleaning.

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by how well this vacuum worked on both my hard wood floors and my carpet. This little gadget did quality cleaning on just the standard suction setting and was even more outstanding when using the turbo suction. I really didn't expect such great results from a robot vacuum but I am now completely sold on how great it really is.
The only negative I can see so far is the amount of space needed for the docking station set up (you need so much space on both sides of the station for proper use). For those with smaller homes or not a lot of free floor space this will be a problem. You could of course opt not to use the docking station and just have the vacuum set to clean for a certain amount of time, but that takes away from the features that the docking station gives you.

Disclaimer - I received this robotic vacuum from Best Buy in exchange for my honest opinion after testing. Also keep in mind as you read this review, I was a believer that robot vacuums were devices in search of a problem. Now that I've used one for a few days, I believe the problem they're searching for is the lack of time for other things in our lives.
The Bissell SmartClean robot vacuum cleaner isn't going to be the best robot vacuum cleaner you can buy, but for the price, you won't find a better value. The sticker on top of the unit advertises both it's powerful suction and it's intelligent navigation, and it lives up to these claims.
After receiving the unit, I went through the initial setup procedure. The unboxing was simple - pull a couple of tabs, open the flap, remove the protective bags, and it's out. Assembly was painless - pop the brushes into the front of the unit, pop the battery into the back of the unit, plug the charger in and let it sit for a few hours for its initial charge. The first run was easy - hit the power button on the unit, hit the mode button until all the icons lit up (this puts it in random cleaning mode, which uses all four cleaning modes of the unit), and let it do its thing.
I started with my kitchen floor, which is ceramic tile and approximately 220 square feet of floor space in a 24x12 area. I also went ahead and pulled the drawer out from under my range so the robot would clean under it. I was not disappointed at all in its performance here. it sucked up your regular foot traffic dirt and debris, along with some pieces of food dropped on the floor ranging in size from rice grains to Goldfish crackers. It also vacuumed up little bits of paper and plastic left to test its suction strength. it navigated around my table and cabinets with ease, realized there was a gate up between the kitchen and living room and avoided it completely, and did not fall off the step between the kitchen and the mud room. It took about an hour to complete this job and still had an estimated 50 minutes left on the battery. For this room, I give it 5 stars.
I moved onto my living room after recharging the vacuum on its dock. My living room is approximately 320 square feet of floor space, with multiple corners, the typical furniture (couch, chair, end tables, coffee table) and electronics (audio rack and subwoofer) with mixed flooring (plush area rug, hardwood floors, and tile in front of the fireplace). The hardwood floors were no problem for this vacuum, but the carpet is where it seemed to work harder - you could hear the drive motors pushing harder and the vacuum itself often went from normal mode to turbo mode when it couldn't pick up bits and pieces after the first pass. It did, however, do a good job on the exposed carpet, and a pretty decent job picking up things my 4 year old dropped through the couch when we flipped it up. It also navigated the furniture pretty well, making sure not to go in spots it could possibly get stuck in and going under furniture with ease. It took about 45 minutes to complete this job without the furniture being moved; however, the battery was nearly depleted after it spent 15 minutes cleaning where the furniture was located. I also used the invisible wall module to keep the vacuum in the room, and that device worked as expected. For this room, I give it 4 stars since it did well for under-couch stuff.
Finally, I tested it in my son's bedroom - the only carpeted room in the house. The carpet is a low-profile plush with a thick pad underneath, the kind of pad that you tend to sink into. The room is 14x13 with a lot of weird angles and walls, a queen-sized mattress on the floor, and a love seat in one corner. I did flip the mattress up after it cleaned between the mattress and the wall (which took about one minute). It ran for about 50 minutes with the vacuum on turbo mode, and did finish the entire room (save one animal cracker). However, the battery was depleted to the point the vacuum had parked itself against a wall and flashed the word "lo" on its display. Before I left after starting the job, you could hear the drive motors working hard to keep the vacuum going once again. Having looked at the floor patterns left by the unit, it probably made around 200 passes to hit every square inch of the carpet in both straight lines and zig-zags. As mentioned earlier, this vacuum ran for around 45-50 minutes in this room. For this room, I give it 3.5 stars.
So as for my thoughts on the Bissell SmartClean, it's a pretty great robotic vacuum for hard surfaces but merely a decent robotic vacuum for carpet. It does get the job done, eventually, on either surface, but it's an intelligent enough device that you can let it run while you're at work or running errands and you won't come home to it destroyed because it tried to go down stairs or under low furniture. It doesn't do a perfect job on every surface, but you will cut down on your regular vacuuming - especially if you have pets (or family) that sheds. This robotic vacuum is easily recommendable to anyone that has hard surface flooring throughout their house, and might be worth it for those with shorter carpets. Longer carpets (tall plush, are not recommended for this vacuum, as they'll make the drive motors work hard and can jam the beater bar brush. All in all, it's worth its price.

My husband got me this for Christmas. Every few feet, it would give the error message that floor was too dark. We have laminate floors in a medium maple type reddish color with pronounced woodgrain. The area rugs are a mixture of mainly dark red-burgundy.
I Googled and learned that robot vacuums often interpret dark floors as stairs and shut off. There is never a switch to disable this feature. I live in a one story. There was a fix online of taping tinfoil to sensors to trick the infrared signal. I tried it but it didn't work. The only other workaround I found involved going inside and rearranging the sensors. I didn't want to attempt this. If it failed, I couldn't return it.
I called the tech support. Located in the Phillipines, the lady was nice but quite clueless. I asked her if there was a tech support person I could ask and she said she was tech support. She suggested sending it to them to evaluate but I felt it would work on a light floor which would get me nowhere so I thanked her and hung up.
My last idea was that perhaps I got a finicky one because I saw one on youtube vacuuming a floor similar to mine, so we returned it and ordered another one.
Bingo! This one works like a charm! My robot wakes up every day, vacuums the house picking up the days fuzz etc until it's tired (after about an hour starting out with a "99" in the green vacuum display) and goes home for a recharge. Every day it has a bin full of stuff to empty. Today was day 3 and it got hung up on a thin area rug in front of the door and stopped. I picked it up and put it down (thinking the light would be green and I could touch it to start up again) but the E1 was still there. I carried it into the kitchen and turned it over. The brush was full of hair and dust, so I cleaned it and looked at the instructions. It said to remove obstruction and start power switch, so I turned it off and on with the switch on the side. Voila. Back in business! My first (technically 2nd) robot vacuum and I'm thrilled!

We wanted to wait a couple of weeks before reviewing but we ran into a couple of issues and wanted to resolve them before we came to our conclusion. It is very easy to setup and configure. The hardest part about the setup was finding a proper place for the base charging unit and vacuum to live. Pay attention to the placement measurements in the instructions otherwise you will have issues with the vacuum "returning to home". The initial problems we had were mostly in part due to the amount of square footage we have on our first floor, our furniture and rooms layout, and flooring types in the different rooms. We had to make sure there was enough spacing with some chairs and that a couple of room doors were closed otherwise the device would normally get stuck in one of these areas and not return to base. The biggest problem we had with the different flooring types was with finding out what amount of time the device could run on its scheduled cleaning. Because it had to work harder on our family room which has thick carpet, if we set the timer to a higher time limit the device would run out of battery and typically not return to base.
Now that we have figured out how to solve the issues we were having the vacuum seems to work great. We have it set to run daily each morning for 30 minutes with all of directional settings at normal vacuuming power. 30 minutes isn’t enough time to vacuum everything each day but because we have it set to use all of the directional settings it eventually gets to 80-90% of all of the areas in our house on a weekly basis. Every day when I get home from work I empty the bin so it is ready for the next day. TIP: Instead of washing out the filter like in the instructions I use the hand attachment on our upright vacuum at a very low suction setting to vacuum the filter. All in all we are happy with its performance and cleaning results.

Nice Item, But Gets Confused

The look of the machine is very sleek and futuristic. While that is nice, that's not really the point of the machine. The Bissell Smartclean Vacuum does have good suction power. After using it and cleaning out the container I was impressed. That being said, it seemed to be very confused as to where to go next and I found it cleaning the same spot over and over again.
If you have a room that doesn't have much furniture, this will work very well. It seemed to be blind to chair legs and table legs. This machine is also supposed to sense if there is a drop from a step. It look to me like it was about to go over the edge, so I stopped it. It does have a bumper feature so if it doesn't sense what's in front it will give it a tap and back away.
This has another nice feature of finding it's docking station to charge back up. While this is another nice feature, mine spent about 10 minutes trying to find the dock before I gave up.
A nice product that could be even better if it didn't have so many kinks. If you have an empty room this is for you.

Decent robo-vacuum

Overall it's a decent unit. I have never owned a robot-vacuum before and it has it's place. I can only compare it to a bagless upright I have.
The good: It's small, gets around on it's on quiet well, can recharge itself, gets under stairs and sofas, easy to use, good on carpet and hardwood, decent run time, sensors don't let it go down stairs, and it didn't scare the dog.
The bad: suction power (it's a small unit), location of brush cleaner, size of waste bin (again it's small unit), recommended space for charging (40in to one side, 12in to another and 79in in front, but I used a lot less space and it worked fine).
Due to the size of an of these types of units, it cannot be as powerful as an upright. But, after a good cleaning, if you ran this everyday it should keep things clean. It did well with dog hair, and cleaning overall. The side brushes tried to get everything to the main brush (it's not near the edges of the unit) when running along the walls, or anywhere else. It worked most of the time, but sometimes the outer brushes just moved the dirt somewhere else.
If you have stairs, this won't work, so you need another vacuum anyways. It's compact and light, so carrying it between floors wasn't a big deal. But, on different floor if the battery runs out, you're lugging it up and down until the jobs done. The waste bin isn't big, so you may have to track down the unit and replace it in a cycle, but it's not hard to do.
The charging station has a clock so you send out the unit at pre-programmed times. It's not hard to use. Unit goes out and does it's job. Never had a problem with the unit finding the base station to recharge itself. The invisible wall to keep the unit in a certain area worked fine too.
For what it is, I think it's a good unit. However, in a multi-story house is loses some appeal. To keep things clean on a daily basis, it's decent as long as it's done everyday. Then the waste bin doesn't fill up to quickly. It you get behind, the bin will fill up quickly and you'll have to check on the unit to empty it during runs. I think if I was in an apartment or a ranch style house this could be a main vacuum cleaner running it everyday for floors. If you have drapes, stairs, high items (getting dust off ceiling fans for instance) you are going to need an upright vacuum or something similar anyways. So, he vacuum is good overall, but all of these robo-vacuums have the same limitations in trying to be the main vacuum for a home.

Easy to Use, good for in between major cleanings

I've used this vacuum for a few days now, I have tried every room in the house. I have about 40% carpet and 60% ceramic tile floors. The Bissell works great on the ceramic tile floors, it seems to get the majority of the debris from the floor. It also navigates the rooms fairly well, but in some cases it skips over some of the areas. It seems to get about 90% of the floors when on the tile.
Programming is a breeze, the included instructions are very user friendly and make it an easy quick process to program. I love how it always finds the dock when finished with its duties.
For the carpeted floors, it seems to slow down quite a bit when it gets to the carpet, I have fairly thick shag and maybe that's why. As far as performance it covers most of the carpeted areas and gets into the nooks and crannies I have in my home. I usually set it for 30 minutes and that seems to be just about right. It's kind of fun watching it navigate it's way around the room, coming up to walls, stopping, and maneuvering itself another direction.
After the job is done I was surprised by how much debris there is in the canister, it seems to get a lot of dirt, hair and grime.
Overall I would recommend this for someone who wants to keep the floors clean in between major vacuuming times. I would not recommend it for those who are looking for it to be their primary vacuuming source. There are some places it just doesn't get to during its time vacuuming.
