Customers are enthusiastic about the SmartClean 1605's cleaning performance and suction power, frequently praising its ability to thoroughly clean floors and pick up dirt. Great little house helper!

I have only had Rosie (hubby named it this after the Jetsons robot lol) for a few days now, but so far...I love it. Our entire downstairs is hardwood or tile with a few rugs, and I have a large dog. I was having to sweep at least 2-3 times a day, which was getting ridiculous. We purchased the Bissell robot vacuum and now I can't imagine why I did not get one sooner. It picks up my dogs fur beautifully, as well as all the dirt and daily mess of just walking through the house (where a teenager also lives!), so obviously the suction is adequate. It is a bit tricky to try to set the scheduling, but it just takes a little reading (I was impatient at first). It seems to have no issue going from hard surface to my rugs either. And unlike many reviews that I read and was concerned about, my little Rosie does not have any issue getting back to her home to recharge. I have it set to run in the middle of the night, it does not wake anyone although it does annoy the dog, and she is back on her charging base every morning! My only issue is that I wish I could set it to run more than once daily, but even that is not a big deal as during the day I can just take it off charge and let it run anytime I want...so all in all....excellent product so far, especially for so much less than any others.

Makes my life a little easier

Set up was pretty straight forward, programming can be a little confusing at first. Need to find a good open spot for the charging base, otherwise it spends a lot of time trying to find it when the battery is about dead. I have found it dead in the middle of the house a few times when it got lost looking for home. I can get a good hour to 1.5 hours run time out of it with a single charge daily, enough to hit most of the house. I like to use the turbo option, which does make it significantly louder. With multiple cats and messy kids, we have to empty it and clean the roller after each use. The roller pops out very easily and you just pull the tangled hair mess off. Make sure to dump the internal collector bin first, or you will spill everything when you flip it over! Learned that one the hard way...

Robots take over floor cleaning tasks

The vacuum shipped in a suitcase-style box with a plastic handle. Taking the Bissell robot vacuum out of the box was a pleasure, no muss, no fuss. What's in the box: robot vacuum cleaner, Lithium Ion battery, home station, charger, invisible wall (batteries not included). Used the quick start guide to insert the battery into the vacuum and get it charged. Easy enough to do, but I broke two nails snapping the lid onto the underside of the vacuum, It took a few hours for the initial charge, then I was ready to go. I used the vacuum in "manual" mode and let it start in the kitchen, which needed vacuuming the most. The robot cleaned for about 80-90 minutes until the battery was low. It did not return to its home base , but when I placed it near its base it conveniently backed up and docked for charging. I used it later for a second round of cleaning. Speed: the robot is slow, so if you want to clean your floor quickly, then do it the old way with a regular vacuum. It took about 3 hours to clean about 2000 square feet of hard flooring. Navigation: The Bissell navigated well from hard ceramic floors, over the wooden transitions to the hardwood floor, and onto area rugs and door mats without a problem. It negotiated well on a warped wooden floor as well. It uses a bumper to find obstacles, and then navigates around them. Its travel pattern seems random. Effectiveness: It vacuums pet hair and dirt, using its "whisker" brushes to get right up to the walls and under kitchen cabinets. I found clumps of pet hair that the robot had collected, but then left on the edges of area rugs and kitchen mats. It did not vacuum up everything on the kitchen floor, and I noticed a few small leaves and some grit remaining. Ease of use: the robot was easy to set up for the first cleaning. Use the product guide to learn how to program it. Make sure to watch the robot the first time you run it in any room, especially around power cords that may be plugged into floor outlets, or around dangling drapery cords that could get wrapped around the vacuum. Bottom line: good for hands-off cleaning, but still a novelty. I have not yet tried it on wall-to-wall carpeting. Does not clean stairs.

    Smart & Handy Device

The Bissell Smartclean is great device to have in your home to main clean floors. Whether you have caret, tile, or hardwood flooring this little dandy can keep them free of hair, dander, and debris. I really like how the smart navigation technology learns the architecture of the room and avoids falling down stairs or mangling cords. The power of the vacuum is pretty adequate. Especially on carpet. Cleaning the device is simple. The receptacle for storing the dust and debris lifts out of the device and can easily be emptied and replaced into the robot. I would recommend to friends and family.

The Bissel SmartClean robot vacuum was my first experience with a robot vacuum and I do not know how I went so long without one. It came pre-charged so I was able to try it right out of the box. The unit picked up quite a bit of pet hair and dirt which was easy to clean with the washable filter. After it was done with the cleaning cycle it worked it's way back to the charging base to charge itself. What a great feature. This will come in handy before I use my Bissel wet vac. This vacuum has the right amount of features without making it difficult to use.

    A Solid Convenience.

The other plus is that it comes with what is called a Invisible Wall device. You place this sensor at an area that you do not want the robot to venture toward such as a carpeted room. The robot immediately turned around and went the other way. Once your robot learns the layout of your hardwood floors, I really think you'll be happy with this purchase which is far cheaper than the competition. I would've attached a small video and picture of the robot working but the parameters here deemed it "too large". I hope my review for the Bissell Smartclean Robotic Vacuum has helped you.

    Very Disappointed

I purchased the BISSELL - SmartClean Robot Vacuum - Titanium/Disco Teal last week only to return it the next day. I read all of the reviews on this website and none of them mentioned that the robot will not work on dark colored carpets. I have tile floors with very large area rugs, the main room has a center section that is navy blue. the robot stops and gives an error message every time it attempts to move into the blue area. We pulled up reviews on the Goggle website only to fine a large number of complaints and warnings about purchasing the robot if you have dark colored carpet because the robot thinks it's a cliff and stop working. I don't understand why any manufacturer would make something that dictates what color carpet you are to have in order to purchase an item such as a vacuum cleaner. I was very disappointed because I am disabled and is not allowed to/and cannot sweep, vacuum or mop. I thought I had found the answer to keeping my carpets vacuumed on a daily basis. NOT!!! If anyone has discovered a robotic that works on dark colored carpet please let me know, because so far, we are told that none of the robots works on dark colored carpet. I would recommend it if you do not have carpet. I cannot recommend it as it seem to not work for every home's decor.

    Not great with dog hair.

We have a lab mix that sheds a lot. His hair gets caught in the roller instead of being sucked into the catch area. It never returns to the base to recharge and dies in the middle of the floor. When we put it on the base it needs to be put on perfectly or it doesn't charge. We didn't buy the remote because it didn't have enough functions for us. It can change the pattern of vacuum or manually move it left right forward or back, it cannot tell the vacuum to start or stop. Not overly impressed and would not spend the money.

Just got it set up (set up was done by my 13 year old granddaughter) and for it's first run I would have to give it an "A". Time will tell but it appears to be on the right track to be a helpful employee.

Every popular product is copied by many, some are better, others are not, In this case, the market leader is the clear winner. You get what you pay for most of the time, this is no exception. This item kind of works, that's the most I can say is, disappointing

Everyone who's saying it doesnt return to its docking station is correct. It doesnt. BUT My hub just attached it without reading the dimensions you need to have it clear. Its like 40 inches one way, And two other measurements that I didnt read. And I bet a lot of you didnt either. It needs a HUGE amount of space to dock itself. LIke its the space shuttle or something. I really dont care though, for me its not an issue. I just charge it in the wall and run it every night. It picks up a HUGE amount of "stuff" Ours is always full to the brim with dog hair. Sometimes with my Roomba I could go a couple days without emptying it out. This much larger collection bin has to be emptied every single time. It's never not full when its done. And its literally 3x the size of Roomba's little bin. The flimsy filters dont last very long. And can be hard to find. I did used to just rinse out my roomba ones, but this you really cant. Im not thrilled about that. The virtual wall. It worked the first night we had it. The next night it didnt. I have to wonder if you have to turn it off when you're done or it uses the battery. I did speak to a Bissell rep and he was very nice, He did also tell me there is a blind spot in the back of the bot and if its in the beam, it doesnt identify it and keeps going. Im fine putting either a chair, or a fan to block it off. To me its not a big deal. The bissell guy did offer to troubleshoot with me, but I didnt really care enough to bother. But if you are having issues, the are very helpful and I got a response very quickly. This is one of those items you really have to read the instructions. Instead of just throwing them in the box and plugging it in. Im going to guess a lot of you did, just like I.

I will be honest, I didn't think that I would love this as much as a Roomba but I do! And for that price, I mean I'm almost tempted to purchase another as a housewarming gift. With a price that low it would be expected that quality is lacking but the battery life and the way it moves make up for that.

My mother-in-law received another brand of robotic vacuum as a gift and was having problems with it. I was looking for a replacement to buy her and found this one at best buy. Nice vacuum and much better price that the one we were replacing.

I have never used one of these type vacuums before, but I will say it is a huge waste of money. The vacuum seems to get caught on something ever day and never finishes the floor. Not only that, it says it handles pet hair, but it does not. In fact, the brush broke as a result of pet hair and now it doesn't work at all. I bought it a few months ago and I think it ran for about 2 weeks before it broke. I would not recommend spending money on this contraption.

    Good Design, Poor Execution

I bought this unit in March 2016. The unit appears well designed, the base station was easy to program. However after six weeks the unit fail to charge via the base station. The solution is to plug the charger into the port on the side of vacuum. The base station loses all of its settings and unit will not be able use any of its schedule, which is good because it is plugged to the charger. Now the unit will not charge at all via the base station. There goes all of the convenience. I bought a BOB via Groupon as BOB is now less than this unit. I have contact the manufacturer and I will be asking for a refund as this unit is a hair above useless.
