Awesome little cleaning helper!

My wife and I named our Spinwave Kevin. So from now on, when I say he/Kevin, I am referring to our Bissel Spinwave Robot vaccum.
Kevin is quite good at cleaning. We have friends who have a cheaper robot vac, and it gets stuck easily. Kevin does get stuck, but no where near as much. He will get hung up sometimes, but he has made it from one end of our main floor to the other, and BACK to his charger! In mop mode, he made our laminate floors shiny clean on medium cleaning level, and he actually avoided all of our area rugs. His battery has lasted over 75mins of cleaning multiple times! I love how the app keeps track of how far he's gone.
Only gripes I have, is he will get stuck randomly going in circles, but usually make it out. He doesn't hold a ton of stuff, but no robot vac does yet. The fact that you can switch him to mop mode is awesome, great little cleaning helper!

Simple operation for a great job

I think that this vacuum robot is a great option in its budget range and probably its versatility (adaptable to vacuum but also able of mopping) is a brilliant option. With a basic app that exclusively serves for launching and stopping the robot, I miss in this model other more elaborate app management options that are already in the market with other more expensive models.
Setting the very simple. Out of the box, a full night charge is recommended, once the process down and before activating the unit, I recommend downloading the Bissell app and follow the instructions to activate your model. The only step that could be less intuitive is that the first wireless connection between your phone and your robot should be direct and not through your home wireless (easy to do in your phone settings). After that setting first connection, you will forever connect the robot to your home wireless.
Operations; I own three vacuum robots (also 3 story house) and comparing them:
.- I think that this model is a great option for a floor with no many walls or a difficult footprint. The robot settings, allow the robot to follow two kinds of patterns. , so basically the robot vacuuming while not super elaborated does its job greatly.
.- I think that Bissell has developed greatly its previous robot model (I still own one previous version that cleans my long basement) in two areas that I was missing before: activation with the app (you don't need to be in the same room with your device) and the smart and the smart addition of the mopping functionality. I don’t see in the market any product offering this versatility, your robot could do the mopping by adding one full component including the two pads (washable). The mapping device accepts you to use your favorite cleaning product and the effect on the surfaces: wood floor or ceramic is impressive.
.- Silent: This robot noise is probably the lowest of the three and its operation can be launched with you in the room. I can not say that about the other three.
.- Big dust container that doesn’t need to be empty after each work. I like here that is made of sturdy plastic that you can empty (however some extra effort needed here for the first times) and clean very easily.
There are only two improvement areas that I would appreciate for the app programmers to make a five starts: one is in the software, perhaps in the future the app could include something about house maps or vacuuming pattern selection. The second missing (for me) piece is the virtual wall that could keep certain areas in your house (like the cabling spot below the tv area) out of range. Now I need to put a “technological” shoe.
A final plus for me: I said that before, I own many Bissell products in my house, including one of its previous robot models. It’s for me great peace of mind that my previous robot is still operative and perfectly functioning after 6 years. I also tested for a hand vacuum the Bissell Guaranty of Bissell. In a single call with no hassle, the brand responded quickly to a malfunctioning product with a new one. If you do an investment, at least secure it.
I recommend this model if you are looking for quality work with a simple operation. If you are very techy, probably you will look for more programming technology but technological simplicity is an asset that allows the average people to access it.

I wanted to like it more than I do

I have wanted an automated way to do routine chores like vacuuming and thought this was the answer. As it turns out, it is a mixed blessing of great automation and dumb machine. I thought it kept track of where it is and where it has been, but it does not. It constantly bumps into chairs, tables, walls, and anything else that gets in the way - often multiple times for the same obstacle. Sometimes it finds a way around and sometimes not. Sometimes it will go off the hardwood (while vacuuming dry) and go into another room on the carpet. It does not handle throw rugs well unless they are VERY thin. Sometimes it will "get lost" in another room and not be able to find it's way back to the docking station.
This machine is good for wide open areas without ANY obstructions, but if you have furniture, rugs, or anything other than a wide open area, you will be disappointed. I have not tried to use the wet mop feature since it will not stay on my hardwood floors and in the same room.
No issues whatsoever with setup on the app, connection to my home WiFi and no problems with programming.
If they can figure out how to geofence the machine or to allow it to keep track of where it has been and how to find its way back to the dock, I would change my review. Not much on this in the included instruction manual.
As to vacuuming ability, it was just OK. I think it is more well suited for solid floors and is just not designed with enough suction for carpet. Happy with performance of the dry vacuum on hard floors and just mediocre on carpet.
It is much more quiet in operation than I thought it would be and the alarm is loud enough to be heard in another room when it gets stuck on a rug or something else.
If you are looking for a set it and forget it machine, this is not one for you. You will need to chase it down and help it a bit if your home is anything like mine. Big open areas - OK - otherwise keep looking.

The Bissell Spinwave is an attempt to leverage their extremely effective handheld mop functionality in a robot that also functions as a vacuum.
The unit is solidly built with a satisfying heft and attention to some areas where other robots come up short. The drive wheels are bigger than their competitors and have a very effective tread, In fact, there are times that I wished it would choose to turn and go in another direction but instead it uses its superior traction to forge ahead and that gets it into trouble! (area rugs are this thing's Achilles heel). The exchangeable debris tank and wet tank are well designed and easy to swap. They have included spare brushes and a filter in the box along with a sample size bottle of cleaning fluid which is greatly appreciated.
I was able to unbox the unit, assemble its charging base (which BTW is larger than I was expecting due to needing a plastic pad to park on when it returns with wet and dirty brushes after mopping), load the app and link the robot to my WiFi and have the unit parked and charging in about 20 minutes!
The app is pretty basic and easy to use. It has a scheduling feature and collects historical info on the SpinWave's cleaning.
The navigation needs some work in order to put it on par with competitive units. You really need to be able to define "no-fly zones" in your space in order to trust the automated (unattended) cleaning functions. Also, there have been instances of the robot being unable to find its charging base and I have had to hand carry it back to its dock.
The mopping function is OK but cannot replace hand mopping. The unit is unable to determine spots that need additional passes to cleanup and will even miss spots completely (again an issue with not effectively navigating at times). I hope that there may be some pending software updates to address these issues.
In summary, the product is well built, has thoughtful design improvements, is packaged with everything you need to get started right out of the box and has a good, basic app to run the whole thing.
I believe that you will be satisfied with this little robot so long as you think of it as a tool to provide light maintenance of your floor between occasional cleaning by hand.

I really like the BISSELL SpinWave. As far as know, it's the first robotic vacuum that has wet and dry modes. it works as well as any dry robotic vacuum I've had. My only concern is the lack of mapping, so you never know if every inch has been covered. Though I haven't noticed any spots that seem unvacuumed.
The feature that makes the vacuum stand out is it mopping ability. With 3 different solutions (offered by Bissell), or plain water, it is very versatile. The worst part about it is seeing just how dirty my floors were!
Lastly, the app needs a little work with occasional crashes, but I'm sure that will get sorted out in short order.
Overall, I'm very happy with the BISSELL SpinWave. It collects the fur my dog deposits on the floor, and mops up the dirt he brings in on his paws. You might say the BISSELL SpinWave is man's best friend.

The Bissell Spinwave is replacing an old robot vac of mine, as the mopping feature highly interested me as my home has a combination of hardwood flooring, and area rugs.
In dry mode it has a low-medium-high setting and it cleans very well, I have to clear the dust bin after each use, its easy to remove the bin and clean out the components.
In wet mode, it has low-medium-high setting, and once it's done, you just remove the wet pads and throw them in the wash. From the look of the pads, they certainly pick up a lot of dirt. Filling the tank is easy, just open the cap, fill with water and add the cleaning solution.
This bot's navigation is petty on point, a lot much more than my old vac which had a more random pattern of cleaning. Eve (as I refer to it) seems to back track and actually get corners it has missed, both in wet and dry mode.
The cliff sensors are responsive and I don't worry about the bot going over the edge. We have a problem spot in the house, where the robot will get stuck and wedged under a rail in our dining room, the error alarm is loud enough for me to hear it throughout the house, but I don't get push notifications to my phone, that is one thing I would like to see added.
I've had Bissell floor care products, and I am glad to have this in my arsenal now.

This is my review of the SpinWave robot cleaner. Let's start with the physical aspects. It's a good sized round unit with a diameter bigger than a basketball. The robot comes with 2 extra mopping pads, a tool brush to clean out the machine's trash container, filter, two replacement sweepers, and mopping solution. When you first get the unit, Place the charger along the wall near the wifi. You will have to download the Bissell app which is a navy blue square with a red triangle in the middle, and the word Bissell written across. Follow the directions to pair the robot to your wifi through your phone (this is a simple and fast task that takes about 3-5 min). Once it is paired, charge the unit for about 4-5 hrs (I recommend charging it overnight if you can). Once it is fully charged, I recommend starting with the sweeping action to pick up the dirt and dust that is on the hard floor. When I tried this, the unit swept for 1.4 hours before docking itself because of a low battery. It swept about 3100 feet. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of dust of trash it was able to pick up. I placed different sized pieces of trash to see how much it can pick up. It can pick up beans and anything smaller. It also collected quite a bit of dust. I was very satisfied with its sweeping capabilities. I did not have it go on the carpet to clean, but I did leave a bedroom door open and it went it onto the carpet and was able to move just fine. It is designed to be a carpet vacuum but I prefer a traditional vacuum for carpet. Now for the mopping capabilities. When I set it to mop, it was able to mop about 3500 ft before docking itself because of a low battery. While it mops, it also picks up any trash that may be laying around. Please note, that the holding tank for the trash is very small as most of the space is taken up by the liquid solution tank used to mop with. So make sure you sweep first before mopping. I was not impressed with the mopping capabilities as I was with the sweeping capabilities. Food that was dried out on the floor remained there. The mop pads were soft, so there was no scrubbing being done. I would use the mop function AFTER you have thoroughly cleaned and mopped the floor. The robot would be more for maintaining an already clean floor as a touch up. I also noticed that the cleaning solution tank held only enough liquid to clean half of the floor, meaning you have to keep an eye on it so that when it runs out, you can refill it. Otherwise, all it does is keep wiping the floor with no cleaning solution coming out. The solution that is provided in the box has enough for 3 uses. The robot does not get the edges or corners very well so you may have to sweep up after the robot. I did not try to wash the mop pads, but they are washable as they are made of cloth. If for any reason the robot seems "off", flip it over and with a dry cloth, wipe clean the sensors along the bottom edge of the robot. You can also remove the caster wheel (wheel in the middle front underneath the robot with white and black squares) to clean it. My opinion: The SpinWave robot is a great tool for sweeping when you don't have time to do it yourself. It does a great job at making and keeping the floor clean. I would not use it for it's mopping function unless I had time to mop the floor myself and then I would use it every few days to help maintain the floor. It is not a good choice for the initial mopping of the floor. I wish the mopping tank were bigger to be able to clean the entire floor and not have to keep watching it to see when it runs out. It is noisy, but it's cleaning. The noise didn't bother me.

Didn't work well in our home

Our household has used robot vacuums for over a decade but we have never had a robot mop until now. The robot vacuums we had vacuumed in a quasi random crisscross pattern which causes them to often cross over many of the same areas of floor several times. But the random looking pattern also gets the robot vacuum around obstacles and furniture to vacuum an entire room.
Unfortunately half of the hard floor rooms in our home have oblique angles at one or more walls in the rooms with hard floors or hard fixed objects in the room like a countertop work area island in the kitchen or both. These are often navigation challenges for the Spinwave which wants to vacuum or mop in a pattern of straight lines from one wall to an opposite wall and back to the first wall with a small overlap between passes. I think that the Spinwave needs the addition of light beam virtual walls as our robot vacuums have employed to enable the Spinwave to navigate to areas that are blind areas to it’s normal algorithm. Also the hard floor areas in our house are not all connected by hard floor pathways and require moving the Spinwave from one hard floor room to another by hand and the addition of a carrying handle would be a welcome addition.
Based on the usage issues I encountered in using the Spinwave in our home I don’t find it at all labor saving and don’t recommend it, other people with different floor plans may find it works much better for them.

It's really good at what it is

First I wanted to let you know what it's not.
This is not a smart device -- it doesn't play with Siri or Google Home or Apple Home. It doesn't map your floor, and the only way to set cleaning boundaries for it is to close doors or set up solid barriers. It's not a shop vac or spot bot -- it's not good at cleaning up huge messes. If you try to run it over a mess, it will smear it all over your floor. There's no remote control to drive its direction. The app will start it, pause it, send it home, or change the power setting, but won't do directions.
However, it is fantastic at keeping your floor neat. It's great at picking up pet hair and the "whisker" brushes do sweep corners pretty well. The vacuum power is really good. I did run it in my workshop, and it did an amazing job of sweeping up sawdust and stray nails and screws.
When you use it with the wet tank, it works nicely at polishing floors. It's not a steam cleaner, and it does not leave your floor dry. It will mop the cleaning solution onto your floor and polish it. I ran it on my filthy kitchen floor -- it look three passes, but it did get the floor sparkling clean. It's a great cure for laziness.
Using the wet mopping tank is much simpler than I expected it to be, and they really put a lot of thought into the design. The home base has a mat!!! Clearly they've used floor mops. My mat got filthy, but at least it didn't leave a mess on the floor. The tank is super easy to remove, fill, and dump. There's a waste bin in the tank for debris. It doesn't suck up moisture, but it does pick up dirt, pet hair, etc while it mops. The mop pads are super easy to remove and wash. They give you a spare pair of pads, and they clean up really nicely in the washing machine with a load of towels.
So -- taking the smart stuff and heavy duty stuff out of it, this robot does a great job of keeping your floors clean. Set it to vacuum once a day, use the mop once a week, and you'll be really happy with the results.

A Must For Pet Owners

We have two dogs so keeping the floors clean and free of hair can be a daily task if someone was so inclined. We also have hardwood floors so keeping them mopped is also a challenge, especially during the winter and spring months when there's a lot of wet paws coming inside. Needless to say, a robot mop has always been high on our list.
The Bissel Spinwave is a really well constructed. Everything about it feels very solid, It has a nice glossy white finish that is easy to wipe off to keep looking nice.
Setup through the mobile app was really easy. There is a QR code on the bottom of the robot that will walk you through the entire setup and connect it to your home wireless network. From here you can start/stop, set schedules, check status and cleaning time.
This is my second robotic vacuum. The other one went in random patterns and I always felt like it would miss spots. The Bissell does overlapping passes instead which seems to get better coverage. The Bissell also has different suction settings - Low, Medium and High. Because of the dogs, I always use the high setting and I get about an hour of runtime. I anticipate if I were to run it on a lower setting, the runtime would increase significantly.
The Spinwave also has a "Spot" setting in which the robot will clean in a 40" circle until stopped or the battery runs out. I used this inside the two main doors to mop some of the high foot traffic areas and it worked incredibly well.
Speaking of the mop. The Spinwave automatically detects when the mop canister is installed vs the regular vacuum canister. This might be normal for others on the market, but it was nice to not have to manually change any settings or switches.
I was originally concerned with how little capacity the mop canister had for water. I didn't think it would be nearly enough, but it was perfect. Thinking about it, I can see where this would be a huge benefit for anyone in areas with limited water supply or who are interested in conserving water. It uses much, much less water than traditional mopping.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the Spinwave and would recommend it to anyone who has a lot of hard floors in their home.

The vacuum is very responsive in the app. It cleans pretty well as well and is very good at getting into those tight spots. It comes with several replacement parts as well such as an extra filter and brush. Bissell really loaded this up but for the price, it's to be expected. This does get you around a runtime of around 100 minutes maybe more or less.

Opening the box, the unit is a little underwhelming as it is on the plain side, but don't let that fool you. This vac is packed with features. After downloading the app and getting everything charged up, we unleashed it on the house. As with every robo vac we have purchased, they don't get the corners well, but it really is no trouble to run the Swiffer around the baseboards every now and then. The app is easy to use, but what impresses us the most is the wet mode. We have had a mop vac from a competitor that didn't pick up near as much as this did. It works really well! You can't go wrong with this Wet/Dry vac.

I have to kids under 4 and multiple pets. Let's just say, our floors are never clean, no matter how much we vacuum and mop. Now, all I have it scheduled to run twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Every other day I have it run the mop function and boy are our floors clean. I've tried other robotic vacuums before but they were always too load to run at night with the kids so having one that cleans great and is quiet is a godsend.

I purchased this product a few months ago and the initial unit arrived with a defective wheel motor. To their credit they promptly sent me a replacement. The second unit worked well the first few times. But in short order it started giving a front wheel error. I did as the troubleshooting suggested and there was no issue with the front wheel. Bottom line, if you are OK with getting up and resetting the machine every two or three minutes this will work for you. If you are looking for something that will do a floor without repeated stoppages and attention, avoid this at all costs. I am still trying to work with Bissell to address this, but their answer is for me to use hours of my time to go to an authorized repair shop where the repairs might be covered. Maybe this is just an issue of poor quality control. So if you want to take a shot at getting a good one, good luck. But this does bot work as advertised

I have purchased six of these in the last two years (three were gifts).
So far 3 of the 6, the Vacuum quit sucking suddenly, at less than 13 months old.
Understand warranty is 1 year, but the robot quit working properly just days after warranty expires, makes you wonder if it was a software configuration.
I have also had multiple issues with mop part
