I was worried about testing this product; that it would be intrusive, bog down my internet browsers, programs, or my OS. Long story short, the Bitdefender Internet Security 2018 installed easily and thus far is unnoticeable. The interface within the program is simple and easy to understand. It does not appear to have any effect on my older computer and I like that!

Without actually getting a virus to really test this product out, I can really only go by the instal process and the few days since.
This security app comes with quick scan and vulnerability scan ability, with options for app, file & web protection. The 2 scan options have yet to show potential problems, but then again, I don't get very creative anymore in the land of the internets. I have a few sites and whatnot but do not visit any real download sites.
The 3 protections mentioned earlier shows no detected threats thus far, so pretty uneventful.
Also available is Auto pilot. Pretty much an ongoing program that hopefully keeps the pc safe at all times with little intervention from me.
I do wish the verbiage on here would be more specific and less vague. Seems BD went for a nice UI over an crowded or complex set up.
While my version I am using is for testing purposes, there are options to upgrade to other servies as well: one click & startUp optomizer, anti-theft & disk Cleanup.
I would recommend this to others who are looking for a basic, easy to use set up that does not require a lot from the user.

Low Impact Virus Software

This software has worked very well. Installed on my Yoga 720 and never noticed it again. This is exactly what you want in virus protection software.
This product was a breeze to install and get running on my machine. No weird hiccups or reinstalls. I just went through the process and o was ready to go.
I never noticed any real system slow downs after installing. It didn't seem to hog resources, even when performing it's scans.
Everyone really needs good virus protection, especially when using the web and I think Bitdefender does a good job keeping me safe and doesn't boy down the system like other products tend to do.

Installation:
Painless. Bitdefender recognized the presence of my prior internet security (IS) software and guided me through the process. After installation, Bitdefender still had to update the software and/or threat definitions. This would seem to make the initial “Quick Scan” prior to installation superfluous, particularly since I had a previous IS software installed.
There seems to be no need for the “Best Buy” and “Geek Squad” logos at the top of every panel.
Vulnerability Alerts:
Preface: to be fair, my prior IS software did even not flag these vulnerabilities as issues. Nonetheless, Bitdefender provided little or no guidance as to the impact of “removing” the vulnerability found.
Bitdefender detected a restricted user account on my system that I use for software training and suggested that I change the password. It might also have suggested that I delete the account. The automated “Fix” for this vulnerability took several minutes (>10min) and I decided to cancel the operation manually. If you are ever presented with this prompt, go to details and select “change the password now” and make the change manually. The prompt suggested that the “user” will be asked to change the password at the next login”. This was not the case the next time I logged into the training account. The password that I assigned was required and no prompt was initiated to change it.
Bitdefender found LOTS of application that were allowed to access the internet. Some may be required for functionality, some may not. No guidance is given as to which should be disabled. Many are references to files (e.g. C:\windows\syswow64\wermgr.exel) with no explanation as to their function. Matching *.exe files on your system with a database providing information on their function would be a big help. Disable internet access to particular programs with caution!
Functionality:
The main screen is a summary of the number of blocked apps, malware detected, and web-based attacks prevented. There is a string of icons on the left of the main panel, but no “mouse-over” pop-up explaining the meaning of the icons. Some are not intuitive. For example, the wrench and screwdriver icon, normally associated with configuration tasks, is an advertisement for additional services and upgrade packages. Most of the real functionality of Bitdefender is “hidden” behind a small “VIEW FEATURES” button in the middle-right of the main screen. Be aware that there are some screens where the “X” in the upper-right corner of the panel will send you back to the previous screen and others where the “<” icon in the upper-left of the panel is the path back to the previous screen. This takes some getting used to.
Wallet:
Wallet icon for is not written for 4K display. Like any other password locker, this tool should be used with caution. You may want to make sure that you lock your system whenever you leave it unattended as anyone launching a browser from your computer account will be able to login to the online accounts with stored passwords. They cannot see the passwords without the master password to the wallet, but they can use them when opening the login screens for your online accounts. You will be prompted for a password to your wallet at boot-time.
Scans:
There were some instances when a vulnerability scan could not be completed because “Window update service cannot be started because the proper credentials have not been provided.” I assume that this means that I do not login with my “Microsoft ID” (never have and never will).
In order to do a full system scan you must click on “VIEW FEATURES” on the home screen. It is not bundled on the same page with “Quick Scan” and “Vulnerability Scan”.
Full system scan of 6.5TB (10.6M files) on 3 volumes took 8.5h to run and the log file took over 90min to load for viewing. The log viewer seemed to stall with 99% loaded but was still chewing on 16-18% of the available CPU. Results summary took 7 minutes to load. The font in the summary is very small and does not appear to be optimized for a 4K display. Scrolling through the summary results (or even moving the window) was painfully slow with each increment of the scroll bar taking over a minute to take effect. The log viewer was behaving as though elements were being continuously added to the log and the window would spontaneously move from place to place on the screen. Fortunately, the most critical findings appear at the top of the list. Viewing the results is useless unless you have scanned a small number of files. Nonetheless, Bitdefender found and removed three Trojan in my email. These had been identified by my previous IS software, but were still hanging out in my deleted mail folder.
Web Browsing (IE11):
Bitdefender added an between 0.21 of 0.07sec to load each page while browsing depending on the sites visited. This is somewhat better than my prior IS software. I have also noticed an increase in the number of web sites that stop responding. While I cannot definitively attribute the problem to Bitdefender, the increase coincided with its installation.
Like some other IS software, Bitdefender flags “safe” and unsafe sites in Google and Bing search results. You can set up your own list of safe sites in a “Whitelist”. Be aware that Bitdefender will take your word for it and will not evaluate URLs in your Whitelist for threats.
Outlook email filter:
The settings for email protection are rather simple. There is a setting to automatically block email with Asian or Cyrillic characters and a list of “Friends” and “Spammers”. It appears that these lists must be maintained manually as Bitdefender has not added any addresses to the “Spammers” category in the week I have been using the software.
There are options to mark suspicious email as “read” (or left “unread”) and to leave them in your inbox or moved to the deleted folder. There is no option to send spam to “spam” folder.

I have always used Window's Defender up until now. I thought the free Microsoft application was all I needed. I was wrong. My computer was being attached by viruses every day it seemed. I was having items quarantined and hardware was starting to get effected. So I got this new Bitdefender Internet Security. It simply works.
Installation was super easy. You go to their website and register an account. Then you go to subscriptions and add your unique code. Then you install the software. It does the rest. Within minutes my computer was protected. I can also add it to 2 more computers. The Lenovo I installed it on was the most important though. So far I have not had any issues at all. It is monitoring my internet usage and blocking anything from getting to my computer. I can see the difference because I was having so many issues before I installed this.
I am very happy with this and it is worth the money. Free anti-virus software cannot give you the protection that this does. I am glad I installed it.

I am very impressed with Bitdefender Internet Security 2018! I have tried more internet security software than I can remember. Most have are oversized programs that slow down your computer and try to cram in features you don't need. Not Bitdefender.
The set up is super easy. Setting up an online profile and downloading the software is a snap. Once loaded, access to the programs features is easy to navigate. And best of all, I have not detected any slowing down of my computer! I really can't overstate how important this is. And handy features such as a password wallet are easy to set up and use.
This program is what 99% of people need & want. It gives you great protection without bloatware and the usual slowing down of your computer! I'll be sticking with Bitdefender!

My computer was running very slow and seemed to have some issues for the past month; I've run scan disks, defrags, and my AVG free antivirus multiple times with small but not enough improvement. I put Bit defender Protection on it - The antivirus didn't seem to find anything sinister, but the program did help clear some temporary and un-needed files on my computer, ran some other scans, and whatever it did, it really did help get my desktop running smoothly again.
The "Total Protection" does have a lot of extra features that you may or may not need; keep in mind that this comes with the product key for three devices. You can buy this same product for three or one devices if you don't need it on five.
Overall, it seems that Bitdefender total protection has helped fix my minor computer issues so far- if anything changes, or if I get unhappy with the product over time, I will come back and edit my review. Overall, satisfied with the performance.

I've had Bitdefender for around a month to test, adjust, and dig in to it and it has a very good assortment of fine tuning adjustments for more experienced techies looking for a security suite that isn't watered down for the average user. But at the same time it has a one button setup for those people whose technology knowledge is limited to how to turn their pc on and to check their e-mail or post that daily picture of dinner on Facebook! Lol. Bitdefender has done an excellent job of making an internet security suite that will appeal to everyone without being a huge resource hog allowing you to be able to use it on your brand new dual purpose laptop/tablet and an old tower running windows 7 that you kept for the kids to play game's on, without slowing it down while protecting them in the background with the option to run without any annoying pop ups to interfere or disrupt whatever you or the kids are playing!
Now there are a few annoying things that are actually helpful but I felt that I should at least let you know but if your not a tech and you don't go in and change the settings like I do with all antivirus or internet security than you will never even notice these. Depending on if you choose to have it alert you or not and my problem is hopefully very rare but as soon as I installed it is when the constant alerts began telling me that I was on an insecure outdated network. Now when I say constant, I mean it was every freaking 30 seconds if not less which is pretty ridiculous and I really hope that they fix this in an update. I mean seriously after the first couple alerts I was fully aware of running our router on the cr_p setting of WPA which was completely out of my control since my wife works at home for the local hospital! I did however finally get to upgrade the router and was able to change the settings since the hospital figured out exactly how insecure they have been and made some well overdue changes to which makes me very happy as it no longer alerts me to the point of having to delete my log files on the notification page daily (which has a bell for the icon) so that if I did have a problem I would have never known or be able to find the incident in the notification log because of the million alerts a day! Really Bitdefender? Don't you think a limit of 3 alerts per day or something like that would be enough?
So besides the constant, endless annoying alerts which thank god that I was finally able to fix that. It is a very solid internet security suite and have not had any issue's of any kind of malware, viruses, or intrusions like I had with the free version of Avira antivirus that I tried for a week and installed the free AVG along with malwarebytes to get rid of the viruses that I got hit with immediately after installing Avira which I installed after reading a few articles saying how good it was but I didn't find anything good about it and along with the one virus it let hit me 4 times in about 10 seconds and then I ran a full scan that didn't alert me to those but gave me 3 false positives about other viruses and 17 malware's and a few other's in the report. The really bad part of that story is it all happened on the same day I installed Windows 10 after I finished with updates so I cannot stress enough just how important good antivirus or internet security is and I have also gotten into the habbit of checking out and changing software every year as an IT tech since 02 and building computer's on the side since then I learned the hard way not to get complacent and stay with one brand because of a name as there is turnover in the security app business just like everywhere else as well as other factors causing one year's best security software to be closer to the bottom the next year so do yourself a favor and do some research before spending your money on what could be a really bad choice.
With all that said, this is a very good internet security suite with a lot of options and after a month have not had any virus, malware, or any type of intrusions from hacker's and so far seems to be one of the better options for 2018 but if I had the choice to be able to switch to the Bitdefender Total Security, then I would switch without hesitation but that is simply a personal preference so don't let that sway you one way or the other. As I have said this has been working great and I didn't hesitate at all to put it on my daughter's computer who is in college and 3 hour drive away if she has a problem but I feel confident enough that this will protect her from whatever website she feels the need to visit!

The Best AV/Internet Security Software

I chose to to get this Internet security and run it on all of my families personal devices because it is the best internet client-based security software you can run with the minimal impact to you computing experience.
I have a high -end desktop that I use for my private software development, as well as a gaining machine and my wife's laptop and we can use all three machines without any noticeable interference from Bitdefener -- but the security assessments it runs show me that it does do its job.
On my development rig I have Process Hacker running perpetually and it typically shows that the background service for bitdefender runs at about 400MB memory utilization and is never a CPU hog -- which as LIGHTYEARS better than my corporate solution on that machine.
One reason for choosing this product was that it rated very high on independent threat assessment tests both in success rate (top 3) and in false positive rate (lowest). This seems to bear out in my own testing as I've gotten a few false positives on my machines, and nefarious facebook links on my wife's machine are stopped cold.
Unfortunately I've been far too busy to have any time to try out the Gaming Mode that BitDefender offers, but they do have this feature so if you are looking to maximize your gaming experience the Secuirty Service can shrink its resource footprint even further.
Lastly, I did have some issues getting the 2018 version of this running as I have an existing BitDefender account, the customer care representative was really helpful and prompt in working out my issues.

So far so good. It was very easy to install. It recognized I had a version of mcafee already installed and it prompted me to remove that first. I have not seen any slowness issues since installing. I do get some pop ups that I am not always sure what to do with from the software. But it is new and I am learning how it works still. But so far I feel
Protected and like how it updates in the background using auto pilot.

I'm not really happy with this product, Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad program, but I had in the past used previously Webroot and Kasperskey, i only bought bitedefender because an BB associate recommended to me that this was a good program to buy. I was looking to buy Kasperskey again,, but since BB doesn't sell it anymore, i was going to get next Webroot, until i was recommended to get Bitdefender , Now like i mention, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad product, but it lacks the speed of my previous security antivirus products, Installing was easy, but for EXP, When i would log on to my chase online Website Account, unlike Webroot and kasperskey which protects and speeds right into my chase account, Bitedfender takes to many layers to get through my chase account, also when it came to changing my password, it gave me a very hard time, I find it not very user- friendly. , One has to Navigate several times to get to it's destination, it does the job, i just hate the fact that i'm stuck with is for a year, and I have to go through the process over and over again, If there's a good sale on Webroot at BB, I'll grab it and uninstall bitedefender , I still have one usage left on my box, I already have it installed on 2 computers, I would have o say that in a pinch it would be a good safety alternative

Bitdefender 2018 is a complete protection suite with built in internet security that protects your computer from threats. With a minimal installation footprint and very low drain on your activities Bitdefender Internet Security 2018 is super easy to use and provides security against almost all threats out there.
