I have used an assortment of antivirus security suites over my lifetime from the likes of Avast, Norton, AVG, Webroot, McAfee and Bitdefender. We are now living in an age where mobile security is just as important as desktop, server or laptop protection. More and more sensitive information is being accessed on our smart phones and tablets as we move forward and total security solutions are becoming more vital. Bitdefender Total Security 2018 does a wonderful job tackling on this challenge.
Installation on my desktop, Android tablet and iOS devices was a breeze. The user interface has a very clean but sleek looking design; it's intuitive and incredibly simple to navigate. Updating the software is so easy with the option appearing at the front page instead of having to painfully search for it in my past experiences with other brand suites. All settings can be accessed via the left hand side toolbar icons. Whether it's contacting the support team, notifications, Optimizer tools or Privacy settings, they can easily be found and the upper left hand corner drop down option details what each icon represents for first timers.
Performance wise this product is simply great overall. This is my first time using the Auto Pilot feature with Bitdefender products and it works great. It takes the hassle away from manually updating the program, continuously scans in the background, provides firewall and privacy protection as well. The application itself seems take an unnoticeable hit on system resources while running in the background. That is a huge plus for me as my experience with most security suites entailed noticeable slowdown in system performance while running silently and especially when scanning. I have no such issues with Bitdefender so far. Scans are fast compared to the competition. This welcoming pleasant experience is the same for my Samsung Galaxy Tablet and iPhones. Minimal resource impact and lightning fast performance. The mobile side allows for wiping and locating of mobile devices which is definitely a plus. Safepay is a solid feature for better banking or credit payment protection. App, File and Web protection have worked very well so far. Bitdefender has safely warned and steered me away from suspicious files and websites better than ever before.
Bitdefender Total Security 2018 is an excellent product for desktop computers and mobile devices alike. It's attractive and intuitive interface is great for experienced users but especially for beginners or first timers. I have always been frustrated with security suites with all these features and options that you have to struggle or dig deeper to find. No frustration here. Minimal system resource impact and fast scans! Highly recommended security solution!

This is my first time using Bitdefender and I have to say, I really like it.
No longer do I see the computer struggling to run the program because it takes too much ram.
My computer runs smoothly and the program is very intuitive, with an easy to use interface even for the novice security program users.
Online, you can access Bitdefender CENTRAL which is basically a dashboard that lets you see all the devices you are protecting.
Historically, I read that Bitdefender has been one of the highest rated security programs and I can see why.
What you get for this year subscription is the protection of 5 devices, with tailored protection.
On the computer, you get:
Quick scan, vulnerability scan, app protection, file protection, and web protection, anti virus, firewall, antispam, and protected folders.
Additionally:
Password manager, file encryption, webcam protection, parental advisor, and data protection with file shredder.
Disk cleanup, anti-theft, start-up optimizer, and oneclick optimizer.
It has its own web browser for highly secured and protected connections.
On mobile:
In addition to all above, it protects the browsers, and also has a cool feature that will snap a photo if a wrong password is input.
The anti-theft will let a designated user wipe the phone remotely or lock it if it gets stolen. Also scans all apps and provides real time protection.
Another neat feature that I don't use but probably will tinker with, is parental advisor. It allows a parent to see how much time your child is spending online, and where. It tracks the child's interests and social behavior to help ensure safety. My children are still too little for this, but I can see this being SUPER useful for parents with children that have online or mobile phone access.
Overall, a solid security system that is worth its protection if you have multiple valuable devices, and valuable data.

Before I received this version, I was already using the 2017 version. I did have some problems activating this software which caused me to have to contact support to get it completed.
I received a product activation code, which the service rep said was not for retail sale. I told them where I got the code from and after a few minutes of back and forth and being put on hold, the software was activated.
I didn't notice any significant speed delays or interference when scanning on my MacBook Pro or HP Spectre Laptops. It could be because they both have SSD drives though. I also downloaded the mobile app to my iPhone X and while I'm not sure its necessary, it doesn't cause any interference or slowing of my phone so I will keep it installed for now. I do like that I can lock or wipe my phone while I'm away, but I can do that with iCloud as well. The only difference being the two-factor authentication that I have on my iCloud account. If I don't have a device that is listed in iCloud, I wont be able to lock or wipe it. All in all, a good software option and I would recommend it.

I have used a few software suites and have been a Norton user for over a decade or longer. What I hate about Norton is how much system resources it used but that has gotten better but still continues to be a drag on my older and newer laptops.
Bitdefender is every bit as powerful and though as Norton with an even better interface and omg such a low system resource user.
What I like in Bitdefender Total Security is that it monitors web traffic and offers site advising without installing an extension or a bar in your web browser like Norton does.
The program can help to monitor your webcam and can completely block application/system file access to the webcam, great security option.
Bitdefender Total Security offers a protected browser for banking, a file shredder, and the standard optimization tools that most other security suites provide. In addition it offers anti-theft protection, identical to what us available for Android and iOS devices. You can wipe remotely or lock your PC if it is stolen, as well as track it in real time by means of using gps.

I have had my fair share of experience with antiviruses. Free ones. Expensive ones. Good ones. Bad ones. This is a good one. It's very easy to set up.
Looking up online test reports, Bitdefender receives the highest rating consistently. I think the interface is pretty user friendly, although I may be more biased when it comes to usability. It's jam packed with features. One click optimization. Start up optimization. Anti theft. Disk cleanup. Other features that I probably have yet to figure out and use. It's nice to have all of these features with one application.
It's great that I can install this on 5 of my devices. Having a big family who doesn't understand too much about malware and viruses, it's great to have this. I also have to say the program did not affect the performance of my computers at all. It didn't slow down my computers. This was expected with my newer computers but it also works really well with my ancient laptop that I have had for about 8 years! Other antiviruses have been a bit clunky on it. So Bitdefender gets a thumbs up from me.

So far I have no issues with Bitdefender, which is saying a lot. I hardly ever run AV software because of the overall performance hit I usually experience, especially when running intensive software like games or editing software. So far, so good!
The installation and setup process was pain free compared to most other AV packages. The presence of nagging pop-up boxes has been kept to a minimum. If you've ever used somethign like Norton in the past, you know how painful the constant nagging is.
I used my laptop last night for a couple of hours and forgot Bitdefender was there, which speaks volumes to how lightweight and unobtrusive it is.

I installed Bitdefender easily and it immediately seemed very user friendly. You can select an ‘Autopilot’ mode and that will take care of most interactions you need with the tool. I did notice that like most, you have a quick scan and an in-depth scan. I do have Norton on some PC ‘s and McAfee on one and now Bitdefender on another. It was apparent that McAfee was slower and Bitdefender was the fastest of the three just based on doing different work and looking at the Task Manager for clues on CPU utilization – I know that is not absolutely scientific but Bitdefender did pass at least an eye test to be faster and bog your computer down less. I did research and in fact the ranking that I most frequently saw was Bitdefender first, Kaspersky, Norton and McAfee last – so that made sense. I did find that McAfee, Norton and Bitdefender did find the same problems and cleaned them up. I liked that Bitdefender also found out if you had down-level software programs and also let me know if I had Windows updates waiting. Some people will wonder if Bitdefender cleans up Rootkits and it does not, but it tells you it does not. However, you can get a free tool from Bitdefender to clean them up (if they are known) called Bitdefender Rootkit remover – think of comparable programs like Norton Power Eraser. You also have a complete suite of programs like Rescue Environment (Bitdefender Rescue Mode allows you to remove any viruses from your computer as well as scan all storage drives outside your operating system), Ransomware protection and so forth. It is the most complete security software I have used.
Another feature I liked was that Bitdefender has its own browser toolbar to act as a traffic cop for suspect sites. The Bitdefender toolbar is called Bitdefender Traffic Light and it adds a layer of security to your browsing experience – I liked it a lot, and you can add it in addition to Bitdefender or actually you can add it even if you don’t have Bitdefender installed.
The price is very user friendly as well. Take a look at more details here: https://www.bitdefender.com/media/html/2018/cl35off/?pid=35off&cid=aff|c|ir I was impressed with this program and would recommend it. I had heard of it, but never used it before. Check out the complete Bitdefender toolbox and I think you will also be impressed. I do recommend this program, specifically the Bitdefender Total Security version.

The Bitdefender Total Security was very to install and easy to use. I have had it installed on one computer and one mobile device so far. The problem with evaluating products like this is that you don't know there is a problem until there is a problem. It seems to be working well and I have not had any issues. It has told me that it has protected my MAC from one security threat in the short time.
Since you can have this on your mobile devices - you can use your phone remotely to check the security management of all devices. It allows you to add users and devices, run scans and optimizations.
Bitdefender is VERY easy to use and install. I would definitely recommend it.

Great Security Suite

Being in IT guy focused on network and security, I have always had at least antivirus software in my computer but usually not on my iPhone or iPad. I have been infected a few times despite my being careful and using antivirus. For that reason, I needed a better protection. I tested Bitdefender Total Security 2018 on Windows 10 on a desktop and a Microsoft Surface Pro 3, on an iPad and on an iPhone. So far, no compatibility issues and I did not notice any slowness or glitches.
This Bitdefender suite actually surprised me when I reviewed what it had found after just a few hours of use. It showed it had blocked 7 sites with malware. What was scary was that none of the anti-virus software I used before caught any of those. I confirmed by going to some of the sites I had browsed before but now on a computer protected with an anti-virus-only software and I could see that those sites were opening other sites on the background but not being blocked as Bitdefender Total Security did. That alone made me fall in love with this suite. It gives me some comfort when browsing the wild internet, even if I am using private mode and do not want to be targeted by companies that use my browsing history to display ads.
Bitdefender found a couple of vulnerabilities in one of my computers and showed links to download updates to outdated software. A very welcome feature.
The only complaint I have on the desktop/laptop side is that it requires you to restart the computer after updates. I am not sure if that is always true but it happened just after one day of use.
As for the iPhone and iPad, the most important feature seems to be the ability to lock and wipe your device remotely if you lose it or if it’s stolen. Other than that, it seems to do its job on the background but I did not notice anything it protected the devices from. That does not mean it’s not working. It’s just that either IOS does a good job protecting itself or I have been lucky. I hope that’s the case because I do a lot of banking on my iPhone. The app on the phone can give you information about malware found or blocked by Bitdefender on any of the devices protected by it.
So far, it is the best Security suite I have used and without any doubts, the best antivirus I have used in the last 3 years.

Usually when someone asks if they need a virus scanner, I tell them yes. That always leads to "Which do you recommend?"
For years I have recommended people stay away from N or M in their software title. Almost religiously I have recommended they use a free version of a suite or scanner before purchasing.
Personally I very rarely have found the paid version to add enough to warrant the cost.
BitDefender may be changing my tune though. the startup and registry cleaning is almost priceless. The best part, paying for it takes away the NagAds.
The scans are quite fast and, based on homework and other reviews online, scans are very thorough. I have been impressed so far with the suite, and the central monitoring for multiple devices is a nice touch that I may never use. Although seeing the scans are keeping family members safe is something I may revisit more than I think.
Easier t catch something in advance than fix postmortem.

I have used various anti virus programs on my windows laptops and this works as far I know just as great as the others have used without using much resources on my computer. Though I do have 12GB of DDR4 RAM on my computer which might be why I don't notice any slow down. I have used Norton products in the pass and were fine with it but it is resource hungry at times. As far as detecting viruses I haven't noticed anything but I really don't go ay questionable;e websites on my computer so I can't contest how "great" it detects since I don't want to test it on purpose.

PROS
High-quality antimalware protection
Friendly interface: A strip of icons on the left-hand side separates the sections of the main console window. If you want descriptions of each section, just click on the hamburger menu in the upper-left corner. Clicking on "View Features" takes you to a compact interface where different subsections are divided into cards, and everything is intuitively labeled. Most of these cards have a slider that you can toggle to turn off the feature of that subsection, or you can click on its gear icon to customize feature behavior.
The bell icon on the left takes you to a log that details every setting you've changed and every security action you've undertaken, and when. This makes it easier to retrace your steps if you accidentally disable something or simply don't remember a change you made a while back. This log can also be filtered according to three different levels of importance, in case you want to go directly to info about a security incident.
More competitive pricing than before: Bitdefender used to be one of the pricier anti-malware options out there, but we're seeing significant discounts lately. And we saw these kinds of discounts both on the company's website and via third parties.
Genuinely useful bonus tools: A lot of security suites get accused of throwing in everything and the kitchen sink to make their product look more valuable, but execution is hit-or-miss. Bitdefender, however, has a pretty good set of extra utilities.
• The OneClick Optimizer provides details on what it finds and gives you the option to selectively clean things up. For example, you can ignore the Windows Registry fixes and opt not to empty your browser cache, while deleting temporary system files but keeping the files in your Recycle Bin.
• The Vulnerability Scan also correctly identified outdated versions of Skype and Adobe Acrobat Reader while also noting that our Wi-Fi password should be stronger.
BOTTOM LINE
While the buying experience may feel like a safari, the product itself performs well, it's easy to navigate, and it's getting more reasonably priced versus the competition.

There a quite a bit of antivirus programs on the market and I have personally used many of them. Bitdefender seamlessly installed on both my Mac and Windows platform computers. No glitches or problems were observed. What's important to me is that whatever antivirus product you choose, they should not slow your computer down. The Bitdefender is a winner in this area. Once installed you will need to create a personal Bitdefender account prior software usage. Bitdefender employs a dashboard to view information such as threats, but you can also update antivirus definitions directly from it, as well as performing a Quick Scan or Vulnerability Scan. A dashboard in my opinion is the norm now-a-days. There are features that will check your account passwords and Wi-Fi network whereby ensuring maximum security. You can also perform a system scan and scan your entire PC for malware. Custom scans are easily set up, and you choose which directories you want to scan.
Noteworthy is that Bitdefender offers a Rescue Environment that you can use for most serious malware infections. There’s also a feature that can warn you about malicious websites. This product has many other features, so you will have to give them a try for yourself.
In closing, Bitdefender works fine with no speed deterioration noted. Definitely a BIG PLUS. I have no idea of how it will actually handle malware or viruses but with any antivirus program you have to keep your fingers crossed. So far, so good.

More than just Anti-Virus...

I've used BitDefender before... Mostly just the basic products but I've used just about every available (free and paid) Internet Security suite on the market - BitDefender 2018 is definitely a modern solution to some of the problems we face in today's security landscape...
The product offers typical best-in-class Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware capabilities, including multiple daily definition updates handled automatically, quarantine and removal methods that rival any other product on the market - In fact, in 2017 this product's predecessor scored as well or better than most other leading products in its ability to thwart threats on your machine.
Where 2018 stands out to me, and some of these features were available before as well, include the Anti-Ransomware capabilities to protect key folders on your machine through Cloud backup and encryption, as well as the cleanup and optimization tools that remove junk files and check your Registry for outdated keys and unneeded redundancies.
The best part of this highly capable suite is that it takes up a small storage footprint and its real-time agent isn't hogging precious system resources. I tested this on fully-loaded MacBook Pro and Surface Book devices, but even on slower hardware the system utilization wouldn't have much impact based on my observations in activity monitor and Task Manager. Single digit processor and RAM percentage utilizations. I think BitDefender has optimized their use of WMI to avoid processor and RAM excess use.
I will admit that on the Mac side I don't see the need as much as I've gone virtually unprotected for years there, but with Mac popularity on the rise, I am happy to protect my investment from today's new threats if the utilization is minimally impacted.
This is a total system optimization package and for its listed price is well worth a year of protection and optimization. Do yourself a favor and add this to your next PC purchase!

This is my review of the new BitDefender “Total Protection” Antivirus software.
I think Bitdefender is new to the average consumer market, but they have been around for quite awhile and have some large companies’ networks protected. They also have come in behind a couple of big-named anti-virus companies and fixed errors that had occurred. That tells me they are trustworthy, and they know what they are doing.
I like the Total Protection package. I have had accounts with at least 4 other major antivirus companies in the past 20 years and I can testify that Bitdefender is as good or better 5than all of them. They are strong in the antimalware area, and every other facet of internet protection is taken care of as well.
The price for the product is competitive and probably cheaper overall than others for what they do.
I like the interface and the fact that I can put “auto-pilot” on and they handle all the updates and determining what I need to protect my computers, both Windows and Mac. There is banking protection available and password protection and password management as well. It really is the full package and I can place it on up to 5 of my devices. iOS, Mac, Windows and Android can all be covered.
I totally give Bitdefender “Total Protection” Five stars.

I used Bitdefender in the past for 2 years. I believe it was 2015 and 2016. The first year was pretty good, but the second the software just seemed bloated and slowed my system. I gave up on the product and used Microsoft's free antivirus and another free source. When Bitdefender 2018 was available, I chose to try it again. I've only had it installed for a couple of days, but I see no lag or pop ups from the software. As of today, it runs totally invisible to me and that's what a good antivirus program should do. I should see popups for added services, that I need to update or do a scan. All that should be done in the background seamlessly...and so far Bitdefender is doing just that. If it stays that way throughout the year, I'll use it again next year hoping the company doesn't ruin it like they did to me before. As for this title, I would say it's a definite buy if you need a paid for antivirus program.

Installation is very quick and easy for Bitdefender Total Security. I have registered with my email and installed in 2 desktops and 1 laptop. There are lot of features embedded in this product to cover privacy, account information, settings and support. The interface is very user friendly and easy to navigate.
I have enabled Auto pilot feature to enable all sort of protection. It takes care of all software updates, scanning, firewall and privacy protection. Performance is great and PC startup is improved dramatically after performing OneClick Optimizer and Startup optimizer. Disk Cleanup and Anti-Theft features are great addition for system maintenance and security.
I have installed the apps from Android and iOS to safeguard my mobile devices. SafePay is another solid feature included in this product which will protect credit card payment related information. Bitdefender warned many suspicious sites which was not identified by previous protection software.
Bitdefender Total Security 2018 is an outstanding product for computers and mobile devices. It has simple and elegant interface with tons of features built-in. I am impressed with all features of this product and recommend to anyone without any hesitation.

Just received my Bitdefender Total Security 2018 version and I must say that it was quick and easy to setup and get started. Enclosed in my envelope (Christmas) sent directly from Bitdefender, was a step-by-step setup card on how to download and activate the included code.
After getting everything installed and logged in on my Mac, I did a quick scan (thankfully there were no malware, or other infected flies on my computer). Later in the evening I ran a more detailed system scan on all of my devices, which also came back squeaky clean.
The user interface is very simple and easy to use and theres not a million and one different scans, menus, etc.. that tend to make other security systems cumbersome and sometimes daunting to use. I love that this Bitdefender Total Security system can be installed on several different systems/platforms (up to 5). I've used other so-called "Total Security," systems in the past and they proved to be much more cumbersome than they let on to be. This is top notch and I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great program to secure all of their devices.
