I’ll be honest…I’ve only been using BitDefender Total Security for a few days, so I haven’t yet had time to check out every function/feature. That being said, this review focuses on what I have “explored”, and compares it against the other top-rated security suite – Norton Security. First, BitDefender is sold in 5-device, and 10-device packages, whereas Norton is sold in 1-device, 5-device & 10-device packages, so Symantec’s offering is slightly more flexible. Second, while BitDefender’s non-=discounted 5-device package is priced equal to Norton’s, their 10-device package is slightly less than Norton (by $10). However, based on the discounted pricing (as of 10/7/18), while BitDefender has the advantage (by $5) on the 5-device pancaking, Norton has a huge advantage (by $45) on their 10-device packaging. Moving onto what really matters – the security software, itself – the Windows version (as I’m somewhat anti-Mac) includes antivirus, firewall, spam filter, malicious website blocking, online banking protection, parental controls, password manager, file encryption, secure file deletion, PC cleanup and optimization, and even BitDefender’s own VPN. Norton offers all of the above, with the exception of online banking protection & VPN (Norton VPN (called Norton WiFi Privacy) is available, albeit at additional cost). A new addition to BitDefender…and something Norton (currently) can’t compete with, is the Ransomware Remediation function. Hopefully, you’ll never need this function to actually ‘activate’, but, if you do, while computers protected with Norton will be vulnerable, if you’re using BitDefender, you should be protected. This, alone, could be considered a huge advantage to some. Installation is simple, and, while taking longer than Norton’s installation process, it doesn’t require the reboot that Norton requires (however, I ALWAYS recommend rebooting after installing ANY software that makes significant changes to the OS). One function I really like is BitDefender’s scanning tool. While Norton is the best when it comes to antivirus protection, if you perform a full scan, it always takes the same amount of time proportional to the amount of data installed. BitDefender, on the other hand, utilizes a smart scan, in that it keeps track (to whatever degree) of changes to your system, and, over time, the amount of time it takes to complete a full system scan becomes less and less, as the full scan isn’t truly a “full” scan. While I haven’t had enough time to add/remove significant amounts of data, I did read a few professional reviews, and one reviewer, in testing, performed multiple full scans, which consisted of 335GB of data. While the first scan took 135 minutes, the second took only 43 minutes, and, by the third scan, it was down to 30 minutes. Personally, considering I have a few TB of data, I can’t wait for the scan time to decrease, as 4-6 hour scans were common when I was using Norton. In the opposite direction, BitDefender’s spam filter, which integrates into MS Outlook, is considerably less capable than Norton’s. compared against Outlook’s built-in filters, there’s almost no difference. Additionally, the BitDefender spam filter is overly slow in identifying spam, and doesn’t appear to “learn” as well as Norton does. Since I don’t have a webcam, I was unable to test the Webcam Protection, and, as there are no children around, I had no need to test out the Parental Controls. As for the rest of the suites features/functions, they, essentially, work as well as Norton’s, with no noticeable differences. FINAL VERDICT In short, BitDefender Total Security 2019 is an excellent security suite. There are numerous improvements (based on what I’ve read) mover the 2018 version, and there are some functions/features that make it better than Symantec’s Norton Security. At the same time, Norton offers some functions/features which are superior to BitDefender’s. where Norton has a robust settings menu, excellent for more advanced users, BitDefender has a fairly simplistic settings menu, making it an excellent choice for less-advanced users, as well as those who don’t want to ‘deal’ with such mundane things. As much as I’ve been pleased with Norton over the years, the switch to BitDefender might turn out to be a smart choice. BitDefender offers more security features, more utilities, better malware protection, and better performance (ie. your computer isn’t ‘slowed down’ as much). While Norton’s antivirus (the key component in all security suites) has been #1 for many years, it’s been losing ground to others, including BitDefender. Earlier, I mentioned that Norton’s antivirus was #1…and, technically, it still is. However, its lead is so minimal now (virtually nonexistent) that it really doesn’t matter. I say that, not because it “doesn’t matter”…obviously, antivirus DOES matter, and will always be the key component in any security suite…but because the whole purpose of a “security suite” is the COLLECTION of security-related components. If we were just talking about antivirus software, and nothing else, then I’d probably recommend Norton Antivirus, and nothing else. However, this isn’t about “antivirus” software – it’s about “security suite” software, and that completely changes the ballgame. In regards to complete security suites, BitDefender is the new ‘leader’ (not just my opinion, but also that of numerous professional reviewers). My only “gripe”…and it IS a big one…with it is its poor antispam. If antispam is seriously important to you (meaning more important than everything else), then you might want to consider looking elsewhere. If everything else is more i8mportant to you than antispam, then BitDefender should be your new CSBFF (Computer Software BFF). Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

If you need an application to try and protect you from nearly every type of malicious computer product out there, with zero technical know how, then Bitdefender Total Security 2019 is for you. However, if you work with uncommon programs or like to maintain technical control of your system, I’d avoid this one. Bitdefender Total Security takes the word “total” pretty literal. Ranging from standard anti-virus and anti-malware to file and password control. There is no doubt that my computer felt safer with it installed. However, it also felt like I lost all say so in the matter. Even when a specific program was triggered and put into the quarantine, if you restore it the file is automatically added to the exception list. Then the malware triggers, with no exception or the advanced threat triggers, again with no exception other than to turn those features completely off. Defeating the purpose behind them. The same goes for having it installed on an android phone. One application has triggered the Malware Scanner, again because it is an uncommon application, but there is no way to exclude it. So, it sits there with an issue warning at all times. The phone application does allow for multiple protection features, such as malware scanner, web protection, app lock and anti-theft. Some of the features require them to be enabled and it will remind you about them pretty regularly if you don’t have them enabled. Just like nearly every time I access the web, I get the VPN notification. The app lock feature adds a second layer of protection, for example, if someone gets your phone while it is unlocked, they can now read your messages or wreak havoc on other accounts that trust your phone. Though the app lock feature keeps them from doing anything in the application, it is slightly delayed, so anything that was already displayed can be seen for a split second. If you have the lock mode set for “Lock every time” it is the most secure, but highly obnoxious when you are just using your phone and switching between apps as you have to scan your finger or PIN every time it is brought to the front, again. Using it as fingerprint was the easiest, but found that it caused issues with other programs that use fingerprint to unlock as that split second delay caused interruption for the other application. If you haven’t been to a site called haveibeenpwned, then you probably haven’t seen your emails that have possibly been compromised in online leaks. Bitdefender uses similar information that is on that site to help you track account privacy. However, they only provide the site name and a date, give no further details, are missing several and show some as repeats. Bottom line is that Bitdefender Total Security is great for keeping my parents and kids devices safe, as I don’t want them changing anything while avoiding any malicious content. If you desire more technical control or work with non-standard applications, this one is a bit difficult to work with.

With the amount of attacks you face just by connecting your device to the internet, a simple anti-virus cannot fully protect you anymore. Just browsing a site that has been compromised is dangerous enough. Besides, scammers can trick you into logging onto a fake site that looks just like the one of your credit card or bank and thus compromising your identify and finances. Today, you need at least Antivirus, Anti-Malware and a Firewall. Bitdefender Total Security 2019 suite gives you all that plus some other important features. Does it deliver what it promises? Online Threat Prevention: I did try browsing some known dangerous sites and Bitdefender immediately blocked them all. You still have the option to view them at your own risk but you have to acknowledge you are willing to take that risk. It works even if you are using the incognito or private mode of your browser. That is especially important to me because I have a 9-year-old and a teen in the house and they are not savvy enough to recognize malicious sites. In one instance, it did not block the download of an infected file BUT the real-time protection caught it. That is the advantage of having the Total Security suite. Ransomware Remediation: I have never been a victim of Ransomware but this is one of the most important features. Ransomware happens when your files are hacked and then encrypted. That makes them impossible to recover without the right tool and encryption key used by the hacker. Bitdefender Total Security 2019 will automatically restore them as long as you had it running when the attack happened. I did not test that feature though. After testing over 800 malware files – yes there are some sites that you can download them from for research purposes; Bitdefender identified 97%, which is an excellent ratio. I just wished it protected 100% but there is no security system that can claim that feat. There is new Malware almost every minute. My opinion is that Bitdefender will keep your system as secure as possible since it automatically checks malware databases on the cloud. VPN: this is the only nice feature that is useless to me. It is mainly used to browse the internet anonymously but it allows only 200 MB of data per day, per device. Personally, I use that in minutes. Sure, you can have unlimited access but that will cost you a separate subscription. Another great feature is the password manager, which I highly recommend its use so you can have complex and different passwords for every site you need to log on to, while not having to remember every single one of them. That ensures that if your credentials are compromised on Facebook for instance, the thief will not be able to access your bank account with the same credentials because the passwords are different. Other useful features are file encryption, webcam protection (a must), parental control, anti-theft (for Windows only) and SafePay. The latter should always be used when accessing your bank for instance. No amount of security is too much when it comes to my finances. My main complaint is support for iOS. It is somewhat limited. A bummer for my family because we all use iPhones and iPads. This seems to be common with other Security suits so I am not counting that against Bitdefender. Also, it is free and does not use any of your licenses, Since it has a firewall, I had issues with one software: Mouse Without Borders. It would install correctly but it would not work with the second computer. It took me a while to figure it out but once I did, I added it to the whitelist. However, some users may not know what to do in such a case. In summary, I feel a lot more confident using our devices with Bitdefender. I have not noticed any negative influence in performance. It gives me and my family ease of mind when navigating the wild and dangerous web. No need to look for better protection to your system: this is it!

---SETUP--- The setup for Bitfender Total Security 2019 was easy. You go to a website and create an account with them (I already had one), enter your activation code, and the download begins after that. ---FEATURES--- The key features of this anti-virus program are that it has a small file size, won’t slow down your computer, and can prevent attacks from happening. There’s also a child protection safe-guard that can help you, as a parent, monitor what websites your child accesses or tries to access. This particular version also covers 5 devices, including PCs, Macs, or mobiles. ---PERFORMANCE--- The performance of this anti-virus program was relatively quick. I scanned 4 TBs worth of information in about 1 hour. No threats were found. I currently have this software installed on my gaming computer (PC), my work computer (PC laptop), and my Mac Book Pro, which I use for video editing. Since the installation, I haven’t noticed any slowdown of any of my devices and they work just as efficient as before the installation. No threats have been found for over a year, since I previously also had the 2018 version. ---EXPECTATIONS--- The product meets my expectations. The installation is quick and simple. I really do like the autopilot mode, which allows you to install the software and then it takes over for you so that you won’t worry about anything. It will occasionally ask for your input on certain actions, but they don’t interfere with your system. One thing that I noticed was that the Mac version seems more limited than the PC versions. Additionally, I had the 2018 version installed and it wouldn’t expire until 180 more days. After entering the code for the 2019 update, instead of adding days to my 180, it reset my time to 365, effectively causing me to lose a little under a half a year’s worth of a subscription. That’s something to be aware of if you are planning to buy before your previous subscription is up. ---VALUE--- The price for the software in terms of value is very good, seeing as how you can protect up to 5 devices. ---APPROVAL--- I highly recommend this product for people who want to feel their computer is safe without dealing with too much hassle.

Bitdefender Total Security 2019 . . . I carefully selected my bank and my financial service company. I'm careful shopping with my credit cards. You can be sure I'm protecting my computer. with a company I trust. I’ve become a fan of Bitdefender. Too many security solutions are aggravating, peddling totally unrelated products or even games, and feeling like the same malware you’re trying to avoid. Some even hold you hostage with relentless reminders, or are difficult to uninstall. Ugh. They might even do the job, but who needs that? I installed Bitdefender Total Security last year. I’m updating to the 2019 version. This is a virus/malware product that just works, unobtrusively, behind the scenes. It’s comprehensive. it defends against ransomeware, provides secure browsing, and offers a lengthy list of protection services and privacy defenses. I can’t find anything the folks at Bitdefender have left out or haven’t addressed effectively. It includes a VPN feature which can be upgraded for faster performance. if you look for it, there are useful, related security products for sale, but they aren’t in your face or in the way. OPERATION: After I start up my computer, some minutes later I get the “beep” notifying me that Bitdefender has installed the newest virus updates. That’s it for interruptions. I can see the BitDefender Shield in the menu bars of both Firefox and Safari, reminding me that it is defending against viruses and malware as I wander the WEB. If I wander into a risky site Bitdefender interrupts my activities with a warning. It’s very rare. Perhaps the site looked suspicious, or the security certificate wasn’t configured properly, or the site was listed as potentially unsafe. I’ve been warned and need to over-ride the protection if I dare. Equally rarely, I’ve had files identified as infected and subsequently disinfected or quarantined if the Bitdefender disinfection fails. If you’re skeptical, there are the HISTORY or QUARANTINE panes in your preferences where security interventions are listed. On guard, but not intrusive. The Bitdefender Total Security package also covers up to five mobile devices. I’ve got it installed on my iPhones, but it doesn’t attract attention. If I open my Bitdefender CENTRAL account, there is a summary of activity for the past month. Bitdefender offers various services including “location”, “wipe”, and “lock.” Securing and monitoring your kid’s mobile devices can include seeing places they’ve visited, time online, or blocking Internet access for specific periods of time even when you are not at home You can create a blacklist of sites within a child’s profile. If you’d like guidance, setting the child's date of birth automatically loads specifications considered appropriate for his/her age category One of the nicer aspects of Bitdefender is the contextual menu help and guidance. There is a clear, simple explanation of selection choices right there in the operations screen. For more complete explanations there is the wonderful, easily understood and thorough explanations in Bitdefender’s PDF USER GUIDE. It’s one of the best I’ve seen. If I could make any recommendation, I’d like to see Bitdefender provide links from the simpler help descriptions in the operations screens to the more complete explanations in the USER GUIDE. So, for example, suggesting that I should “install and use Bitdefender VPN” isn’t helpful if I don’t understand the entire concept, the advantages and disadvantages, and when it might or might not work for my purposes. Link me to the USER GUIDE or even a “white paper.” Ditto for helping the end user understand the preference panes. Bitdefender is an easy Security program to recommend. As I noted in my review last year, I’m not very tolerant if products are in any way aggravating. Bitdefender Total Security is a powerful, easy-to-use virus protection solution, and it adds significantly to my confidence as I wander around the Internet. I trust them.

Anti-virus/protection software is one of those things you don’t like to think about. It’s often a pain to initially set up, and can extract a heavy toll on system resources. I’ve used the free version of several well-known products, but it’s now to the point where you “pay” to be free with an increasing number of pop-ups and sales banners. Also, as the threats become more pervasive and varied, basic protection just doesn’t seem adequate these days. With this in mind, I decided to find a full protection suite that’s reasonably priced and highly rated. Bitdefender Total Security 2019 fit the bill for me. I’ve tested the basic and full versions of this product in the past and found it good but geeky. With the 2019 version the user interface has been vastly improved, and the learning curve has been flattened. The installation was smooth and required very little attention, but it does require some patience. I let the entire suite load to test everything, and it takes a while. Besides loading the large program it does an initial scan and then searches through your executable programs to grant permissions and set up the firewall. Give it some time or you may get some slow program starts and unusual results. However, once done it’s very transparent, and I didn’t notice a speed hit on even my old Asus laptop. Keep in mind, this full suite is potentially watching everything. Besides Bitdefender’s highly rated antivirus protection, it offers WIFI security, firewall, antispam, phishing, ransomware protection and recovery, and nearly everything else you can imagine. You do have the option of enabling or disabling many of these features. If “Safe Files” is on, programs it doesn’t know will be blocked from writing data. This is part of the ransomware protection, and a one-time dialog pops up to let you grant or refuse permission. On the privacy side, you can use its password manager, file shredder, VPN, file encryption, parental controls, webcam protection (blocks outside access to your cam), and Safepay which adds protection to online banking and commerce. Lastly, there are some utilities for optimizing, disk cleanup, startup, and anti-theft. The password manager works well, and your “Wallets” can be shared between all the computers are running Bitdefender under your account. When you create a wallet, you can import existing ID’s and passwords from your browsers or start from scratch. Cleaning up you memorized passwords lists before importing them is advisable. You can end up with everything that you ever clicked "yes remember" when logging in. Your browser keeps them all. It won’t know which is current, and you'll get a drop-down list of choices. You can edit the wallet to correct this, or you can start clean if you know all your logins. For all these features, I found Bitdefender straightforward to use without a noticeable drain on speed. The interface is very clean, and it seems to provide every protection you might need all in one package. With one purchase covering up to five computers, the price is pretty reasonable for all you get.

This is more than just virus protection, as it has a number of other features as well, which is why I selected this product. With today's technology, it makes sense to go for the higher level of protection for my devices. Installation was straightforward, with easy to follow directions. I started with my desktop, a recent device I hadn't added protection to yet, although I did find McAfee was on there already. That actually took the longest- uninstalling that program that came preinstalled. Other than that, installation was fairly quick and easy to follow. Part of this installation includes setting up an account on BitDefender Central. Next I put it on my iPad. This was the easiest, as you just download the app and log into the account already created on the first device. I added this software to an older laptop that had previously used another program for virus protection, and installed this software in its place without difficulty. I found that scanning these three devices took less time to complete than other software I've used in the past. It also offers password management and various other security measures too. I liked that it should protect me from other internet related concerns, like assessing my computer's vulnerability to attacks and improving overall online safety. I did install a different product on someone else's computer, and theirs was a little faster, but that product is web-based, so you're not downloading files. That's the only recommendation I might make, is to have a more web-based version. This software did not slow things down like some other products, even on the older device, which is one problem I had in the past. The fact that I can use it on an iOS device, and have additional features to optimize my computer and to provide the safest possible online experience, are important selling points for me. I would definitely recommend this product due the ease of installation and use, along with excellent protection for different devices.

I recently updated Bitdefender 2017 to the new 2019 version and it's installed on an iMac Pro, a pc laptop, an iPad Pro and now on my iPhone Xs. It was relatively easy to install the update on all my devices but it is very finicky with any Beta software such as iOS 12.1. Just keep in mind that it may take a few attempts to get it on your device running Beta software. You still have to go online to the Bitdefender Central web portal which I find a bit clunky but I understand why they did it this way...easy access from any device and in any location. I haven't really noticed much of a difference in performance other than the web browser protection. It use to use the StopLight plug-in but now I don't see any actual plug-in being used in the 2019 version. However, my app panel shows that my browsers are still protected. The protection seems to work much more seamlessly. Before, my browser pages seemed to lag when I had StopLight loaded and I eventually just turned it off...was too much trouble. But the 2019 updated version works much faster and I barely notice any webpage loading time lag. Also, they have updated the app's user interface a bit. It looks nice but I thought the interface was great before. Scanning is still super easy and very fast. Everything seems like it's working transparently behind the scenes, just as it should. The developer notated that many of the functions have been improved/optimized so I assume that equated to faster performance and deeper security. I have not really noticed any speed bump other than the web browser protection. Overall, it's still as solid as the previous version with some minor noticeable improvements. If you currently have Bitdefender 2017, I'm not sure it's worth an upgrade but I guess you can never be too safe by making sure your system protection is always up-to-date.

There's always a couple of things I want to know 1st about antivirus software. 1. Does it work and 2. What's the impact on my PC. 1. Does it work? Yes. Bitdefender gets 100% success rates with AV Comparatives tests. So it's as good as it gets if not perfect. 2. Does it impact your PC? No. There is minimal impact on your PC. I didn't experience any slow down, stutter, etc. When I played games, I like that Bitdefender has a Gaming Mode, to give you more control. As a full security suite, Bitdefender Total Security 2019 comes with some additional features. The part I liked is the parental controls, which is handy and needed when you're buying a 5 device license as 90% of the time this is because you need antivirus for your kids PC. The parental controls were a breeze to setup and use. Well done bitdefender on having an intuitive UI. The 5 licenses you get with this can also be used on mobile devices. I set this up on iOS. There's mixed value of antivirus on iOS (i.e you don't really need it). The iOS version does come with a VPN for security. I like the VPN as using public WiFi is when you would want to have some additional layer of security. The only down side of the VPN software is it doesn't let you pick a location and randomly assigns you one - trying to sell you on a VPN subscription plan. I wish that there was more flexibilty on the included VPN option. Even if it was letting me pick from a limited set of locations (US, UK and somewhere else in Europe). I deducted 1 star for this (would have been half a star if I could do a half). Overall, Bitdefender Total Security 2018 is great antivirus and system maintenance software and will keep my PCs tuned up and kids safe online. Couldn't ask for more.

This item does have plenty of product features to check out. There is the normal things you expect like real-time data protection, anti-phishing, anti-fraud protection, secure browsing, a VPN, safe online banking, parental controls, firewall, and password manager. Overall, I found it to be a good product. I especially like products that offer a password manager. The Bitdefender Autopilot is very nice also. The autopilot basically sets everything up to make your computer the safest it can possibly be. It tells you when updates need to be done or things need to be changed on your computer to make you safer. I don't use parental controls so I did not try this part of it out much. There is also a vulnerability assessment that I really like. It essentially tells me when I need to do updates. It does have a VPN. However, the product comes with a maximum of 200 MB a day. This just isn't enough for me and it is mainly meant for when you are at a coffee shop or somewhere with unprotected internet access. I have a VPN already on my computer but still it would have been nice for a VPN to be built into the product that allowed more than 200 MB a day. When it comes to making sure that the user does not go to any sites that may cause a problem with their computer this product really works overtime. There are some sites that I visit on a regular basis that other products do not have a problem with. But this product always flags the sites. You can choose to show any site you want as safe. Or you can choose to go back to the previous safe page you were on. Overall, it is a good product. Additionally, it does not slow down my computer by much when running a scan.

I have had Bit Defender in 2017 and was impressed then. Now I am really impressed. The Total Security version 2019 is well worth every penny spent. When running a quick scan I was extremely impressed with how fast this test was. Quick scan, scanned 8681 items in 0.07 seconds. Really impressed with that. The full system scan scanned 2,293,547 items and only took 00:19:08 and found 3 suspected items and quarantined them. Normally a full system scan takes an hour or more on my old Antivirus program (not Bit Defender). I have a bit of advice, using built-in MS windows defender is ok, but this product did not catch the 3 viruses Bit defender found and the scan was much faster by a factor of 300% faster. Today the thieves are smarter and more adept at getting into our computers which have as time goes on more of our lives than ever before. Spend the extra money and protect yourself. I have tested the Safepay which is a safe way to access your most sensitive financial information and found it both intuitive, easy, just as fast as any other browser and was able to bookmark each of the sites for ease of use next time I want to access the sites again. I really like this feature. I did not test the VPN feature yet but will test at a later date. I have only tested in a Windows environment and will test on Apple, Android devices at a later date and will update this review. Other features include: Real-Time Data Protection, Network Threat Protection, Anti-phishing, Anti-fraud, secure browsing, Multi-Layer Ransomware protection. and much much more. I would highly recommend this software to any and all who need this type of service.

The software was easy to install and it did so rather quickly on my Windows 10 HP touch laptop. Making adjustments to the SETTINGS was quick and most “defaults” were what I would pick. BITDEFENDER operates effortlessly in the background and doesn’t interfere with operation of my touch laptop … which I’m using while on the road for an extended period of time. I like the layout of the DASHBOARD as well as the supplemental screens of the software. Easy to read and understand. I do have an issue that I can’t “scroll down” the left-hand menu to see other options BELOW the “SETTINGS” submenu. I have my font set “LARGE” which causes this situation. I’m still “kicking the tires” of this software, but it appears to cover everything and more than anything I’m concerned about, like: antivirus, firewall, spam filter, malicious website blocking, PC cleanup and optimization. While BITDEFENDER has the capability to secure online banking protection, parental controls, password manager, file encryption, and secure file deletion, I am not concerned about these areas and will not use these capabilities. I’m very concerned about spam email, but I haven’t seen where BITDEFENDER is doing anything more than what OUTLOOK currently does…. But maybe I’m just not getting potential spam right now …. So …I like the product … it doesn’t appear to be too invasive nor complicate the operation of my laptop. Since the software I got will support 5 devices, I will install it on my desktop when I’m off the road to see if there are any differences than what I’m experiencing on my laptop.

I've been using Bitdefender total security on my surface go for a few days and overall I kind of like it. First and foremost, the install was simple. I just had to create an account, download the software and install. After installing the software, I performed a virus scan, which it completed in less than a minute. I then started looking for what else the application had to offer. I found two things that were impressive. It came with optimization utilities and a VPN (*a free VPN*). The optimization utilities did handy things like, clear memory, remove unused registry entries and remove unnecessary start up files. Based on what the software tells me, it was able to reduce my startup time by 5.4 seconds. I then went on to test the free VPN. For me the free VPN service was a huge bonus, because I travel a lot, however, it was a bit of a disappointment. The VPN came with a limit of 200MB of traffic per day and did not allow you to choose which country you want to connect to. It did however, give you the option to unlock this functionality by buying a premium license. Finally, as I mentioned earlier. I installed it on a surface go, which is known for not having a very fast processor or a ton of battery life. With that being said, I need my antivirus to be battery efficient and light on processor/ram use. In these areas bit defender did a decent job. the processor use was low, ram use was about 280MB and battery use was about 5%.

Unfortunately I was expecting a full fledged program for MAC's by virtue of the title "Total Security 2019", but got only a small portion of what you'd get if you were using Windows I assume. The product was an easy download, loaded easily, didn't tax the memory, and never crashed - that is an achievement, yes. But, basically I got a very limited program. No firewall. An antivirus program is for the most part what you get on the MAC version. There are some other things like a web browser extension for Safari, but anyone can get this for free. You get a 200MB per day VPN. Free VPN's offer the same. And to upgrade, you can get any program you want for the annual price they charge. As for the IOS version for iPhone, I didn't really see much there either. A lost my iPhone type feature, which iPhone has on it already. Same VPN offer of 200MB per day, or pay to upgrade to full version. Nothing on here that I would consider worth using on my iPhone, and in fairness to Bitdefender, nobody has anything to offer in this area. So, if using for MAC, you may want to consider something else for a more robust protection product. I'm going to fire up a windows computer and give that a try, but so far I'm just not impressed enough that I would spend money for products that you can really for free these days, albeit from different sources.

I have had a few experiences with different internet security services. I am very impressed with Bitdefender Total Security 2019 subscription. The Bitdefender has one of the best protection features. One of the features that I like is the Vulnerability setting which reminds you to change passwords. So far, it has a done an excellent job with its antivirus, firewall, saves files which protect access to valuable documents, and anti-spam online threat prevention. The advanced threat defense features are one of the modules which are most of the interest because it is the behavioral blocking component. The ransomware remediation feature automatically restores if there are any encrypted files. All these modules make Bitdefender Total Security 2019 the best multi-layer defense for any computer. The included VPN makes this product a plus to have due to the recent repeal of the net neutrality regulation. The subscription allows installation for up to five devices. My laptop performs better, and I feel more secure when I go online. Overall, I am satisfied with my new total security software.

Bitdefender Total Security 2019 is a top line security suite which includes just about everything you need to protect Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices. Installing the Windows version gets antivirus, firewall, spam filter, malicious website blocking, banking protection, parental controls, a password manager, file encryption, secure file deletion, PC cleanup and optimization...wow that is a lot. The VPN service is free but for only 200MB...which is truly useless...it cost $39 for unlimited and while costly, in today’s hack run environments it is pretty cost effective for peace of mind. The included Ransomware Remediation, is a protective layer which should help detect ransomware activities and backs up targeted files until the malicious processes can be closed. Network Threat Prevention is new technology which aims to prevent malware exploiting vulnerabilities on your device to launch attacks. Bitdefender's Autopilot system is now smarter, offering smart recommendations to optimize protection to match how you use your devices. A new dashboard makes install rather straightfirward and easier to use. Overall I like, love the software suite especially on my mobile devices. I install and leave it to do its security features with no slowdown my activities.

I have several computers that I need to make sure have the best internet security. When it comes to protecting these computers from all the nasty malware and others out there; it becomes overwhelming trying to choose the right one(s) out there. Given, I’ve only used Norton or McAfee. I was pleasantly surprised with bitdefender and believe this is the best out there. I’d installed it on my Surface Go for 3 weeks now, and am very pleased. I have not yet installed it on my other laptop and wanted to use the Surface as my testbed. The 2019 edition (didn’t know it’s been around since 2002) offers a wide range of features and improvements to fully protect your computer. Compared to the other products I’ve used in the last, I believe that Bitdefender offers a far range better protection. There are better data protection that protects your files (docs, photos, videos and music) from ransomware. There are prevention features to help you from harmful websites. You have your typical real-time protection, and checks our files from any changes that are dubious. This is top notch securityon my device and can’t wait to install them to my other computer. The only downside is it is constantly on my Surface which I do not always keep plugged. Even at a full charge at the beginning of the day, my Surface is nearly 50% at the end of the day because Bitdefender is on. I need to change the settings on this or completely keep it off when not in use. Great product.

Bitdefender Total Security is a great little product that includes a lot of services, for many of your home devices, at an affordable cost. I have been using the product for a few weeks now and haven't experienced anything negative at this point. I do like that the product offers many tune up systems built in for those that may not be familiar with maintaining their home PC. I also really like that there is an option to run a boot time scan for the virus scan, this is a great feature for viruses that try and hide themselves within windows, they cannot trick the antivirus if windows isn't fully booted at the time. I did replace my previous anti-virus with this one, I wasn't paying for a full suite, so I would get notification or suggestions of actions for my machine but the product could not complete them without buying the feature. This is a fairly inclusive package, that includes pretty much everything you may need. I do not like that the VPN feature is front and center in the application, but you receive very little traffic included in this package. I don't mind that it has a fee, but don't make it look to be inclusive when it isn't. Overall with the time I have been using this, I have not experienced anything that would make me not suggest this product to someone. I would likely recommend this to some of my family to possibly save me from having to assist them with computer issues when I see them! :-)

    Quiet Security Guard

In an age of 24 hour news and constant reporting about security breaches and the like, the best thing that you can hope for is NO NEWS. No News is Good News, right? That is exactly what this product provides without sacrificing protection. Having a home office and spending plenty of time on the internet, this program gives me the peace of mind of protection, but without the intrusive feeling of an overzealous security guard or the hindrance of big brother always tapping you on the shoulder reminding you not to talk to strangers. This program sits in the background keeping you safe without need for recognition. This is how all security programs should be, instead of popping up every time you turn on your computer reminding you that it is watching. Pair this with a cake-walk of an install and not noticing any speed reduction that seems to plague newer routers with built in security, this program definitely goes down and a winner in my book. That being said. I do not conduct any especially risky behaviors on my computer and have a decent working knowledge of spotting those dark internet alleys that appear malicious in nature. Which like any other activity in life will assist you in staying out of trouble. But as of today with the assistance of BITDEFENDER, there are no signs of intrusions or issues on my PC.

Best security software I've ever used!

I've been using Bitdefender Total Security on my desktop for over a week now as I needed a new security software after the trial I had been using ran out (Norton). After the first day, I was so impressed with the ease of use, limited system resources (very lightweight on your system), and incredible security offered that I downloaded it onto my laptop (Webroot), tablet (Webroot), and phone (AVG)! The other programs I had been using worked great but they were nowhere near this level of speed, ease of use, and comprehensive! The security suite works incredibly across all platforms and offers many other amazing benefits such as: webcam protection, secure browsing, network threat protection, real-time data protection alerts, and a VPN! The VPN in this security suite is the biggest benefit of all, it helps to protect you and your personal information on the web with a secured portal that shields you private information as you browse the web, work on the road, or complete school work! That, teamed up with the incredible security against direct threats to your computer technology and the real-time safety alerts, really gives some peace of mind while you're connected! As far as well rounded, full featured security suites go... Bitdefender has taken the cake and I highly recommend their software!
