Freezes up, doesn't perform a full scan, detects devices stealing WiFi but gives no access to remove those unauthorized users or stop them. I got something in my phone now that's messing it up and who knows, I didn't have as many problems with it as I do now. . I wasted hard earned money on this and please don't waste your money like I did... I would had rated it zero stars honestly

    Good Protection, annoying popups

The BitDefender Total Security suite is a good protection suite that offers virus scan and app scanning. It comes with free (limited data) VPN, and offers web and app protection. All of these features work well and as intended. My issue is the absolute annoying amount of popups and "reminders" that come up whenever you do almost anything on your phone. If you are on a site that even mentions the word "bank" the app prompts you to use the secure protection to protect your data. The popups for using the VPN, scans, and almost anything that you do on your phone make the experience just annoying.

Unfortunately I was expecting a full fledged program for MAC's by virtue of the title "Total Security 2019", but got only a small portion of what you'd get if you were using Windows I assume. The product was an easy download, loaded easily, didn't tax the memory, and never crashed - that is an achievement, yes. But, basically I got a very limited program. No firewall. An antivirus program is for the most part what you get on the MAC version. There are some other things like a web browser extension for Safari, but anyone can get this for free. You get a 200MB per day VPN. Free VPN's offer the same. And to upgrade, you can get any program you want for the annual price they charge. As for the IOS version for iPhone, I didn't really see much there either. A lost my iPhone type feature, which iPhone has on it already. Same VPN offer of 200MB per day, or pay to upgrade to full version. Nothing on here that I would consider worth using on my iPhone, and in fairness to Bitdefender, nobody has anything to offer in this area. So, if using for MAC, you may want to consider something else for a more robust protection product. I'm going to fire up a windows computer and give that a try, but so far I'm just not impressed enough that I would spend money for products that you can really for free these days, albeit from different sources.

If you need an application to try and protect you from nearly every type of malicious computer product out there, with zero technical know how, then Bitdefender Total Security 2019 is for you. However, if you work with uncommon programs or like to maintain technical control of your system, I'd avoid this one. Bitdefender Total Security takes the word "total" pretty literal. Ranging from standard anti-virus and anti-malware to file and password control. There is no doubt that my computer felt safer with it installed. However, it also felt like I lost all say so in the matter. Even when a specific program was triggered and put into the quarantine, if you restore it the file is automatically added to the exception list. Then the malware triggers, with no exception or the advanced threat triggers, again with no exception other than to turn those features completely off. Defeating the purpose behind them. The same goes for having it installed on an android phone. One application has triggered the Malware Scanner, again because it is an uncommon application, but there is no way to exclude it. So, it sits there with an issue warning at all times. The phone application does allow for multiple protection features, such as malware scanner, web protection, app lock and anti-theft. Some of the features require them to be enabled and it will remind you about them pretty regularly if you don't have them enabled. Just like nearly every time I access the web, I get the VPN notification. The app lock feature adds a second layer of protection, for example, if someone gets your phone while it is unlocked, they can now read your messages or wreak havoc on other accounts that trust your phone. Though the app lock feature keeps them from doing anything in the application, it is slightly delayed, so anything that was already displayed can be seen for a split second. If you have the lock mode set for "Lock every time" it is the most secure, but highly obnoxious when you are just using your phone and switching between apps as you have to scan your finger or PIN every time it is brought to the front, again. Using it as fingerprint was the easiest, but found that it caused issues with other programs that use fingerprint to unlock as that split second delay caused interruption for the other application. If you haven't been to a site called haveibeenpwned, then you probably haven't seen your emails that have possibly been compromised in online leaks. Bitdefender uses similar information that is on that site to help you track account privacy. However, they only provide the site name and a date, give no further details, are missing several and show some as repeats. Bottom line is that Bitdefender Total Security is great for keeping my parents and kids devices safe, as I don't want them changing anything while avoiding any malicious content. If you desire more technical control or work with non-standard applications, this one is a bit difficult to work with.

Bitdefender Total Security 2019 . . . I carefully selected my bank and my financial service company. I'm careful shopping with my credit cards. You can be sure I'm protecting my computer. with a company I trust. I've become a fan of Bitdefender. Too many security solutions are aggravating, peddling totally unrelated products or even games, and feeling like the same malware you're trying to avoid. Some even hold you hostage with relentless reminders, or are difficult to uninstall. Ugh. They might even do the job, but who needs that? I installed Bitdefender Total Security last year. I'm updating to the 2019 version. This is a virus/malware product that just works, unobtrusively, behind the scenes. It's comprehensive. it defends against ransomeware, provides secure browsing, and offers a lengthy list of protection services and privacy defenses. I can't find anything the folks at Bitdefender have left out or haven't addressed effectively. It includes a VPN feature which can be upgraded for faster performance. if you look for it, there are useful, related security products for sale, but they aren't in your face or in the way. OPERATION: After I start up my computer, some minutes later I get the "beep" notifying me that Bitdefender has installed the newest virus updates. That's it for interruptions. I can see the BitDefender Shield in the menu bars of both Firefox and Safari, reminding me that it is defending against viruses and malware as I wander the WEB. If I wander into a risky site Bitdefender interrupts my activities with a warning. It's very rare. Perhaps the site looked suspicious, or the security certificate wasn't configured properly, or the site was listed as potentially unsafe. I've been warned and need to over-ride the protection if I dare. Equally rarely, I've had files identified as infected and subsequently disinfected or quarantined if the Bitdefender disinfection fails. If you're skeptical, there are the HISTORY or QUARANTINE panes in your preferences where security interventions are listed. On guard, but not intrusive. The Bitdefender Total Security package also covers up to five mobile devices. I've got it installed on my iPhones, but it doesn't attract attention. If I open my Bitdefender CENTRAL account, there is a summary of activity for the past month. Bitdefender offers various services including "location", "wipe", and "lock." Securing and monitoring your kid's mobile devices can include seeing places they've visited, time online, or blocking Internet access for specific periods of time even when you'ren't at home You can create a blacklist of sites within a child's profile. If you'd like guidance, setting the child's date of birth automatically loads specifications considered appropriate for his/her age category One of the nicer aspects of Bitdefender is the contextual menu help and guidance. There is a clear, simple explanation of selection choices right there in the operations screen. For more complete explanations there is the wonderful, easily understood and thorough explanations in Bitdefender's PDF USER GUIDE. It's one of the best I've seen. If I could make any recommendation, I'd like to see Bitdefender provide links from the simpler help descriptions in the operations screens to the more complete explanations in the USER GUIDE. So, for example, suggesting that I should "install and use Bitdefender VPN" isn't helpful if I don't understand the entire concept, the advantages and disadvantages, and when it might or might not work for my purposes. Link me to the USER GUIDE or even a "white paper." Ditto for helping the end user understand the preference panes. Bitdefender is an easy Security program to recommend. As I noted in my review last year, I'm not very tolerant if products are in any way aggravating. Bitdefender Total Security is a powerful, easy-to-use virus protection solution, and it adds significantly to my confidence as I wander around the Internet. I trust them.
