Customers have good things to say about the cleaning performance and ease of use of the Corded Steam Mop and Vacuum. Many appreciate the simple setup and operation, while some found the water tank sufficient for their needs. However, feedback indicates that the vacuuming function is less powerful than expected, and the cord length is frequently cited as too short.

Nice steam mop, vacuum so so

I decided to test this product because I had always wanted to see how well steam would clean tile and marble. The fact that it could also be used as a vacuum was a bonus, but nothing I was really focused on. Assembling the product took about 5-10 minutes, and figuring out how to use it took about another 10. Some of the instructions in the manual were a bit confusing, and at times, even contradictory. For example, when addressing the 'Eco Steam' mode, the manual states the vacuum can be used with that mode, but not with 'Max Steam' mode. However, when addressing 'Max Steam' mode, the manual states the exact opposite. I'm assuming that's a cut/paste error. Filling the water reservoir was simple enough, but when I first tried to use the steam, the product vibrated/buzzed, which meant that it wasn't getting water. I had to remove and replace the tank a few times before the water would feed properly. I believe there might have been an air pocket in the supply line and had I just left the machine standing for several minutes, the problem might've resolved itself. I had purposefully left 'spots' on the tile in the kitchen, so I was anxious to see how the product dealt with them; I was pleased. There were a few spots that had to be gone over multiple times, but they all came up without much fuss. I then took the machine into the adjoining hallway, which is a high traffic area, and tried it on the marble. Again, the steam worked very well, however, about half way through, I checked the mophead and realized that it was quite dirty. I wish an additional mophead had been included, but since it wasn't I washed/rinsed the one I had as quickly as I could, and continued. Although the reservoir is small, I used the product for about 15-20 minutes, finishing about 300 sq ft, and there was still a small amount of water left in the tank. I was hoping to use the steam mop on my hardwoods, but none of them are sealed, so I decided against it. I did use the product on a small section of carpet, and it does work with the vacuum and eco steam on. Of course it in no way is going to replace a true vacuum, but it did pick up small debris and the steam left the carpet looking refreshed. It is a bit more cumbersome than I thought it would be; it's kind of difficult to get into corners, and the height keeps it from getting underneath even moderately low shelves/cabinets, but it just takes a bit of getting used to. Overall I'm happy with this product, I just hope it holds up under constant use.

Steams a good floor

My wife has been wanting a steam mop in the house for a very long time, so I had to get this one when I saw it was available. We mostly do hand-cleaning on our floors, because it's hard to find a good mop that cleans and doesn't fall apart with all the scrubbing necessary to clean stubborn dirt. Mops also tend to leave a lot of wetness on the floor, which means you're left spreading dirty water around after just a few rinses.
This steam mop addressed both of those issues, because it uses only steam to clean, and doesn't require dipping into a bucket of dirty water. The steam loosens tough dirt and the pad on the bottom absorbs all of the mess. As a bonus, the vacuum portion of the steam mop grabs the little things missed by the broom or regular vac we typically use before mopping. That said, the vacuum included here does not replace a good traditional vac, and has only a very small chamber for holding dirt.
I was also pleased with how this mop works on rugs/carpet. It's a little weird that the carpet "attachment" is more like a tray the mop sits on to smoothly move over soft surfaces, but once you get used to using it, it's not too hard. I like how clean and fresh my area rugs seemed after steaming.
As for assembly and operation, I found it all pretty straightforward and I was up and running within a few minutes. As another reviewer mentioned, the mop didn't seem to pull the water out of the tank and the steam function didn't work until I removed and reseated the tank a couple times. After that, it's been pretty smooth sailing.
The down sides of this steam mop/vac:
1. It's corded, so you can't carry it all around the house without considering where you'll need to plug it in.
2. It's quite loud in vacuum mode, but thankfully the steaming cleans the floor fairly quickly.
3. The vacuum head doesn't quite get into tight corners (see pic) and you need to kind of twist and rock the side corner to get corners under cabinets clean.
4. You have to get your hands dirty to remove and wash the mop head. You can avoid the mess by peeling from one edge and putting the pad in the washing machine, but I prefer to hand wash.
All-in-all, I'm quite pleased with the performance of this mop. It does a good job on everyday cleaning and the steam even loosens tough dirt. It will be a good asset in our cleaning regimen for a long time coming.

Good Steam Mop / Vacuum Combo!

I have been looking for a Vacuum and Steam mop combo and got Black+Decker - Corded Steam Mop and Vacuum (Model: BDXSMV190G). It came with Steam Mop+Vacuum, Mop Pad, and Pad Tray. It is easy to assemble the Mop pad and attach the handle with the provided screw. I filled the water tank with water and tried the Max steam option. It took a minute to start the steam. I tried on the hardwood floor and tile areas. It did a good job on the hardwood floor, and it was cleaner than ever. However, watermarks were visible on the tile floor. The steam mop function worked perfectly except for the corner areas due to the odd design of the floor nozzle. It could have been better with a square design and swivel option.
I tried vacuum mode and it did not pick up all stuff from the floor and another major issue is power cable length. It is less than 10 feet and not able to move around for big rooms. I have connected the power cable to different outlets to cover the big rooms and every time I need to wait for few mins to use the steam mob function. I was spending more to do vacuum and steam mop functions using this product compared to using them with two different products. With the max steam option, I was refilling water for every room and connecting the power cable to different outlets very often due to limited cable length. The carpet attachment is nothing but plastic and I have no idea how it works on carpets. It is a great concept of having Steam mop and Vacuum as a combo. However, it did not fulfill my needs.

Pretty heavy to lug around, cord cumbersome, also difficult to get into any corners but steam cleaning seems pretty good. Keep looking, get something that fits your most important needs - for me just too heavy but these are hard to find. recommend prob 50/50

Steam mop and vacuum combo is very convenient for quick touch-ups. The only downside: extra mop pads are needed unless you hand wash the removable mop pad. Have not been able to find a mop pad that is specific to this model. Even Black & Decker does not offer a mop pad for this model.

This steam mop does a good job. Assembly was easy. The vacuum part feels a little useless, but it does pick up some stuff. Filling up the water tank was easy and pushing the button to start the steam cleaning was easy. You can see the steam on the floor, evaporates quickly and really does the job. The vacuum portion is really loud, and after using I decided that I wouldn't use that again, I will vacuum first with a regular vacuum, then use this steamer. The cord is not very long so that was a bit of a nuisance. Overall, the steaming was great, I will use this again. The cons were the cord length and the vacuum feature didn't work that well.

PROS:
- Easy to setup
- Doesn’t take up much space
- Two cleaning tools in one!
- Really easy to use
- No chemicals needed, just water
- Reusable mop pad
CONS:
- No swivel join
- Water reservoir is really small
I really liked the idea of a combo device that I can use to both mop and vacuum, especially at the same time. No more sweeping up and using a dustpan before mopping? Yes, please!
When it comes to actually using the mop+vacuum combo, it works VERY well, if you keep you expectations in check. I would describe this as a steam mop that can vacuum up small amounts of dirt/crumbs. 90% of the time, I don’t need to sweep up before moping using this combo, thanks to being able to vacuum while moping.
What I love the most about this is that the mop pad is washable and I don’t need to bother buying chemicals for cleaning the floor. Just fill up the water chamber (Black and Decker recommends using distilled water), and use steam to clean.
My only real complaints are that it doesn’t use a swivel joint, so you have to maneuver it like the old vacuums before the 90s. I also wish the water chamber was a little bigger, but it’s not small enough to be a deal-breaker.

I was happy to get this steam cleaner/vacuum combination as I have tile, linoleum, 2 rooms of carpet and laminate throughout the house. It definitely got a good testing here. The assembly was easy enough and I also went and purchased distilled water instead of using tap. Filled up the container, let it heat up about 10 minutes or so and was ready to give it a go.
I was not impressed with how it attempted to vacuum the carpeted areas. Hardly any pickup power, especially having a dog and cat. Just didn't do the job I needed it to there. Also the funny plastic tray it sits in for carpet cleaning was clumsy and odd. At any rate I then tried it on one of the bathroom floors having linoleum (mostly white) and wow! It did a fabulous clean on that area! As others have noted it definitely could use a longer cord but I managed to keep changing outlets as I went around. In the kitchen, living and dining rooms I have laminate and I honestly won't be that comfortable using it a lot in those rooms, probably just occasionally as I'm not sure if over time the steam will damage the floors. My back, front halls and the solarium are ceramic tile and boy they were loving the cleaning this machine provided! One other thing I noted was that due to the odd head shape it would not fit in the corners properly to clean but I simply took a rag and wiped those areas up by hand. I also wish that Black & Decker would provide an extra pad because they get soiled rather quickly. It just would be a nice touch from the company.
It's an overall nice unit with a couple shortcomings but worth buying if this is something you need. I will certainly be using mine here where it cleans the best!

Kitchen floors are notoriously difficult to keep clean. Crumbs, spills, and cat food droppings spot the floor with great regularity at my house. My new combination vacuum and mop helps to keep the floor looking good with minimal extra effort. Unlike a carpet “steam” cleaner, this cleaning machine uses only tap water to take care of your hard surfaces. There’s no extra solutions to keep around, mix, or smell. Vacuuming and mopping can take place simultaneously. The vacuum portion is at the front of the head unit. This easily picks up crumbs and small detritus to get it out of the way of the mop head. The steam is all that’s needed to pull away small spills and food droppings. My 15x15 kitchen floor can be fully cleaned in ~10 minutes.
Operating the unit is very easy. It's light enough for my wife to use when its her turn to clean. There’s a detectable bottle on the back which should be filled with water. Turn on either “eco-steam” (for hardwood floors) or full steam (for tough surfaces like ceramic tile) and wait for the water to heat. The steam release button is integrated to the handle used for moving the cleaner around the room. This is a great design if you want to have it push steam out all the time. It’s very hard to move the cleaner without pushing down on the steam release handle. For this challenge, I have to take away a star.
Cleaning performance is exactly what you’d hope for. I was able to clean all areas of the kitchen without pre-sweeping. It also picked up all the dirt and food residue which was on the floor. I have been using a Swiffer wet jet in the past and have often had to go over areas more than once before they looked clean. This vacuum/mop cleaned areas like that with fewer additional wipes. You just have to be a little patient while the steam works its way into the mess. Drying is very fast. I could walk in the room once it was done is under 10 minutes.
Washing the pad is simple and easy. I cleaned it in the sink and left it to dry for the next day. While two pads would be a little easier (in case you don't want to wash it the same day), one pad will work. It would be nice if B+D made the pad easily available.

The only negatives that we found with this steam mop and vaccum is the length of the cord, we really need it to be longer as we have an open floor plan and have to keep moving it to get the whole of the downstairs done and the size of the tank, again because we have a large area so we need to fill it often. The steamer takes seconds to heat up and you can really see the difference in the cleanliness of the floor. It is good that it comes with two mop heads and they are easy to clean - just throw them in the washer. It moves easily between the floor and carpet with just a push of a button to go from steamer to vaccum. This is great for an open floor plan which has both hardwood floors and area carpets. My suggestion to Black & Decker is to consider that many people have open floor plans and they may want to incorporate a longer cord, make it cordless and also a larger water tank. Otherwise, we are very happy with the B&D steamer mop and vaccum.

Versatile Cleaning Machine

Mopping the floor is never a fun task. It still isn’t exactly “fun”, but this doesn’t make it so much easier.
Setup is simple, and I like that there are instructions for use and cleaning on the machine itself. No need to look up the manual to figure something out.
I initially thought the water container was way too small. But, it does a great job and I always end up will more water than I need. The steaming function is great. It takes a few seconds for it to come up to temperature, but when it does it works really well.
You can also vacuum with this, but I don’t think it can replace a vacuum. It is more of a use to vacuum up a little debris to get it out of the way so that you can steam. That is a great time saver, though, allowing you to mop and vacuum at the same time.
Another great feature is the ability to steam refresh carpet. You attached the carpet slide, remove the mop cover and steam the carpet. This probably isn’t something I’ll do often, but after you’ve cleaned up a spill on the carpet, this could help refresh it.
It is also fairly slim, which is great for storage.
The only issue I have is that the cord is too short.

This steam mop vacuum combo is excellent as a steam mop and OK as a vacuum. The heating element heats the unit quite well which makes for an impressive cleaning job by steam. The angled head is a great idea to get into corners but the width of the angled head makes it difficult to actually get into corners. The unit uses only water. The detachable water reservoir holds sufficent water to clean a few rooms. For those tough stains use the max steam feature. Max steam is very successful at removing deeper stains. The steamer works so well that it leaves very little water on the floor. We machine washed pad for reuse. The vacuum is a little loud and only fair at cleaning. We recommended it to friends because the steamer itself is that good.

Unique Appliance

The very concept of an appliance that stream cleans floors and vacuums was intriguing. I had to have one.
Assembly was simple enough: snap on the floor nozzle and attach the handle with a screw (they even supplied the screwdriver).
After filling the water tank with distilled water (highly recommended), I pressed the appropriate steam button, and waited…and waited. Nothing. I removed the water tank and the filter to make sure water was getting through to the steam motor. The water from the tank trickled through the filter, and the filter trickled water through to the steam motor. Every time I pressed the steam release button, nothing would happen, the device would give three short vibrations, but no steam. After 15-20 minutes, it showed signs of life; I got steam. I started with my bathroom floor, so I set the mop to Max Steam. It did a good job, I guess. The floor was wet, but there’s no way of telling that it was killing 99% of germs/bacteria. After going over an area on the floor, it felt cool to the touch.
After the bathroom, I went downstairs to mop the laminate flooring. Per the manual, I set the mop to Eco Steam. After mopping the kitchen, dining room and living room, the floors looked nice. I didn’t notice any streaks on the areas I had gone over. Again, there’s no way of being sure about the germ killing. I make a big deal about the germ killing because I have a grandson who crawls all over the place, and I want my floors to be safe for him.
I do not like the shape of the floor nozzle has an odd 5 sided shape that doesn’t allow you to get into corners. Also, I wish the head would swivel to allow me to get into tight spaces. I don’t know what’s going on with the Carpet Attachment, which is a misnomer, because it doesn’t attach to anything. Basically, it’s a piece of plastic that you place on the cleaning pad in order to vacuum. Because it doesn’t attach to the Floor Nozzle, whenever you lift the vacuum cleaner, the thing just falls off, that’s not aggravating at all when you’re vacuuming the stairs (yes it is!).
Pros:
Convenient tool for both mopping and vacuuming
Water lasts a long time (I did four rooms on one tank of water)
Mop head was easy to clean
Cons:
Takes a while to begin producing steam
Weirdly shaped floor nozzle
Carpet Attachment is a pain
Would have liked to have a floor nozzle that swivels

I have been using the Black and Decker steam mop for a few weeks and have come to absolutely love it. Once it’s all together, it’s just a matter of adding water or cleaning solution, plugging it in, and waiting less than 30 seconds. Tons of steam and so quiet it doesn’t wake my daughter even if she’s sleeping just a few feet away. I use it on tile and sealed hardwood floors. It doesn’t leave streaks and cleans like a champ. I rarely use the vacuum part of it unless there are larger crumbs or debris on the kitchen floor. That does make it considerably louder but that’s to be expected. The microfiber cleaning pad just pops right off and I throw it in the washer when it gets dirty. Super simple. I have tried it on carpets but I’m not a huge fan. The plastic piece that goes on the foot to convert to carpet doesn’t click into place so if you pick up the machine it just stays on the floor for you to pick up and move to the next place. Maybe mine is a dud but that part seems like a design flaw. I don’t ding my review because of that since the main reason I got the machine is to clean my hard surfaces. If you are in the market for an easy to start, push, scrub, and clean up steam mop, you can’t go wrong here.

My townhome has ceramic tile in the kitchen and all bathrooms. Traditionally, I have gotten down on my knees with a sponge and bucket to clean the floors. After buying a multi-use steamer years ago, I was amazed at the cleaning potential for grout, stovetops, stains, etc. I always thought it would be nice to get a floor-specific steamer just to make quick cleanups a breeze. So far this Black and Decker corded steam mop has been great. it is very easy to use, does not require bottles of chemicals to use, and is overall very convenient. After filling the tank and letting it heat up, it's no problem at all to hit the kitchen and bathroom floors in a matter of minutes. My favorite thing about using steam on my floors is that there is no lingering smell, and the tiles are not left slippery. Some cleaners I have used on my floor, it feel like I might slip and fall while wearing socks. With the steam mop, the floors just look and feel clean without any additional surprises.
