Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the cleaning performance and ease of use of the Corded Steam Mop and Vacuum. Many appreciate the simple setup and operation, while some found the water tank sufficient for their needs. However, feedback indicates that the vacuuming function is less powerful than expected, and the cord length is frequently cited as too short.

I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review of the product. I took this to work (I work with kids) to try out on our rugs and vinyl flooring, and I was pretty impressed, though it doesn’t quite do what I thought it would do (which was a misunderstanding on my part). I used it as a steamer and a vacuum on one of our low pile rugs that the kiddos frequently eat on and have had urine accidents on, and the steam part worked great, but the vacuum didn’t have nearly the amount of suction I was expecting. The misunderstanding was that I thought it would disinfect and work as a carpet cleaner, but it doesn’t - when I read the instructions/manual, it explicitly says that it should not be considered a carpet cleaner and it does not disinfect, it simply refreshes. It worked on the vinyl flooring like a charm - it was very easy to use, and worked well in both modes!

    Better than average

I’ve had several of these types of steam mops but one of the most frustrating parts about these is the battery life on the cordless models. With this unit, you dont have that problem. I originally thought cordless was the way to go until i started using them and they would only last 20-30 minutes at a time. The fact that this is corded, solves that problem in spades. The vacuum feature was a nice touch but dont expect it to work better or faster than an old fashioned broom though. It cleans well and is perfect for spot cleaning or smaller locations like half baths and entryways. I definitely like it better than any other model I’ve used and have donated my old units to worthy causes.

works well, maybe not best for textured floors?

What I really wanted was an easy way to clean the textured linoleum in my living space. What the Black+Decker - Corded Steam Mop and Vacuum does very well is clean up messes and steam/sanitize hard surface floors. I use it regularly in both bathrooms and the kitchen and know that it's great for vacuuming up debris and then steaming- at the same time for light messes or in separate passes for bigger messes. My most frequent use it to clean/sanitize a cat box area in one of the bathrooms. Both the cat & I really like how well the Black+Decker - Corded Steam Mop and Vacuum cleans up the mess!! With the textured linoleum, there are some small pits & waves in the surface, some of which have collected gunk over time. These still require more intense, hands-on attention. I was trying to avoid that, but this wasn't the tool for that.

Don't get rid of the vacuum or mop

While this is not a suitable replacement for the mop and broom, it is quite handy for SMALL messes or spots. The directions for assembly were a little bit confusing because it tells you to put a screw in certain spot but the screw is already there when you get it. Other than that it was very simple to put together. The steam mop gets to steam mode very quick. The pad can go in the washer. The vacuum canister is very small so it can't do much but for little areas or little messes it is perfect. Definitely a handy supplement to have but not a replacement like I thought that it would be.

    A good all-around multitasker?

If you know me, you know that I like tools and appliances that multi-task. If I can do two tasks at once, then more "me time". So, the B&D steam-mop/vacuum combo seemed like a good fit. Unboxing and setup was fairly straight forward. I usually look at the manual if something "stumps" me. This didn't. But I did review the manual later and it appeared to be put together in a hurry with no proof-reading. The vac readily accepted the water to begin warming to steam. The primary use of this product will be bathroom tile floors. It is the one area where steam (which kills lots of bad stuff that lurks in the loo) is most appropriate IMO. I did a once over with the vacuum first, and it did a good job of picking up small debris and pet hair (how it always gets in there is a puzzle). Then it was on to the "Deep Clean" with steam. I was impressed that this didn't "spit" like other products I have used in the past. Those who are familiar with steam mops/cleaners know that "steam spitting" is a big waste of water. But again, the B&D did not spit once during my first use. One thing I have to knock a star off for is the maneuverability. Getting it around the toilet area and under the bathroom cabinets was hard/near to impossible. The results though are what keep this a 4 star product. The bathrooms were left sanitized and spotless. The mop head after use freaked me out at how dirty it was. I thought the tile was already pretty clean! This is a good value for those wanting to save time. If you have floors you want to sanitize that aren't full of obstructions and are easy to navigate, then this is definitely the steam vac for you!

I have never owned a steam mop before, but this is pretty great! It is so easy to set-up and start using. You put water into the water canister, turn it on and start steaming your floors. I love how the detachable bottom is easy to detach and wash for the next use. The cord is pretty long so you dont have to limit yourself to one room at a time. What surprised me was how long the water lasted even though the water canister is not very big. I thought I would have to fill it up several times, but I did not. I really like this steamer. It works really well, even with linoleum flooring. Just dont use it on the super hot setting and your linoleum flooring will be just fine.

This steam mop is very easy to use and cleans well. I do wish the floor slider for carpet would attach instead of just covering the pad. Other than that, it’s great.

I was skeptical about a vacuum and steam mop in one but it surprised me. First ran the vacuum across the kitchen floor and then steam cleaned. Did very well on the tile. Next I cleaned the wood floor where the dog's bowels reside. She gets beef broth on her kibbles and tends to drip on the floor. This unit is worth it, just for the quick clean up after the dog's dinner. The unit comes with 1 mop pad. Followed the directions to go the website and order more pads; however the ones this unit uses are not listed, even searched by specific part number. The mop pad can be washed. The availability of additional mop pads would make this 5 stars.

    Really Cleans the Floor!

Our kitchen floor had food stains on the tile, so we were excited to see how this Black and Decker “Steam N’ Vac” would work on this dirty floor. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. Pushing the “Max Steam” button, just one or two passes with the cleaner, listening to the steam hit the floor, and the stains were GONE. Assembling the cleaner was easy. Just one screw puts it all together, and the screwdriver was included. Once assembled the operation is easy. Three buttons do everything, a vacuum button, “eco steam” for economy and “max steam” for more complete cleaning. You just fill the water tank and away you go. I was concerned because the tank seemed small, but was amazed that even on “maximum steam” I was able to thoroughly clean our large kitchen floor with almost half a tank remaining. Like most of you, the idea of a CORD on a cleaner seems kind of antiquated. We’re all used to cordless devices, but the steam feature of the “Steam N’ Vac” requires more power, and on the bright side, with this cleaner you don’t need to worry about a battery dying in the middle of the job. Also, the cord is long, so you shouldn’t have to plug and unplug very much. A hint that I can pass along after using the “Steam N’ Vac.” The vacuum feature is not as powerful as most other vacuums. I wouldn’t use this to just vacuum a floor, I’d only use it when I was also going to mop. And I found that sometimes after steaming, pushing the vacuum button didn’t pick up some dust because it was now wet and stuck to the floor. So I simply vacuumed a small area I was cleaning FIRST, and THEN steam cleaned it. Problem solved. A couple of negatives, the shape of the head made cleaning on edges and corners somewhat difficult. Also the vacuum feature is LOUD, louder than most other vacuums, but as I said, we really didn’t use that feature much, only occasionally when finding stray dirt when mopping. Bottom line, we really loved the “Steam N’ Vac.” It truly removed floor stains quickly and easily. Also the fact that it kills 99% of the germs without any chemicals at all, just water, is nice to know. It’s a fine addition to our cleaning arsenal.

I love the fact that I can vacuum my floors and then steam clean them all together. Other similar products you have to vacuum first, then get the steamer out to clean your floors. It's nice being able to save an extra step. I also love that it came with a carpet attachment so that I can use it one the carpets as well.

Having mostly hardwood floors in our home we needed a device that could both vacuum and scrub the floors. Combining the two devices made it more efficient and overall did a better job. The device is easy to use in the solution is Plentiful for one job. It’s late, compact, and gets the job done. Highly recommended!

Got this steam mop with the idea that it would make cleaning my tile floors easier and more thorough. It works fine - if your floor is already clean! Otherwise it mostly just smears the dirt around. Also, it doesn't clean very close to the baseboards. If you have a pet, it does not pick up the hair, it just randomly redistributes it. The one thing I will use it for is cleaning the grout lines when they get dirty. We'll wash the floor by hand, then use the steamer to clean the grout. Another frustrating thing is the location of the steam release switch. It basically is the entire inside of the handle, so it is nearly impossible to use without inadvertently releasing steam.
