One of the latest entries in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, BLACK PANTHER is an enjoyable film with some great action sequences and acting talent. The film is unfortunately somewhat repetitive of many superhero films we have. The villain in particular has a dozen different motivations for his plan, but they don't line up and contradict each other in more ways than one. BLACK PANTHER also seems to get a lot of undeserved credit for being "the first black superhero film", even though BLADE & BLADE II (also a Marvel property) came out more than 15 years earlier, and were both better films in my personal opinion. Overall, the movie is definitely worth watching, there's lots to love in the film, but there's aspects that make no sense or just don't work. If you're a fan of the MCU, this one will be essential to view moving forward.

I can't quite place it. I loved the relaunch of the Black Panther comics in the early 90s enough to search out the earlier ones from prior decades. I'm a huge fan of Ryan Coogler's directing, particularly Fruitvale Station. The acting is top-notch throughout, and while this is not Michael B Jordan's finest work, he still stands out as a star despite being surrounded by a talented and often more-experienced cast. And it's quite exciting at times. But for some reason I just couldn't see why it was as good as everyone said. My best guess is that trying to tackle issues far too important for a comic book movie trivialized both those issues and the film itself, although that's just a guess because again, I can't quite put my finger on this, one. But if you watched this film and enjoyed it beyond it just being a comic book movie and obviously comic book movies are much better these days than they used to be, check out Creed or Fruitvale Station for some better collaboration between the director and Michael B Jordan (Killmonger). And I'd still recommend this one. I was just expecting better I guess.

While I recognize that Black Panther is a historic film I find the story to be unsatisfying for several reasons. The characters are wonderful, most of the performances are nuanced and believable, but the action is mostly dull and the world in which these characters exist is, frankly, reprehensible. As one example, Wakandans are ruled by a tyrannical monarchy and select their ruling family through ritual combat. Wakandan culture, weaponry, warfare, ideals, and government are so objectively horrible that I found myself not caring who won or lost in the final conflicts. It was ok but not an amazing movie.

I saw this on bluray long after it was out in theaters and I heard all of the hype. It was basically the same format as all of the other first entry Marvel movies. A villain with a similar power set (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Ant-Man, Captain America, etc...) The format is tired. The effects were ok. If this were an earlier entry into the Marvel Universe I would have fount it more pleasurable, but seeing it 10 years in with the same tired format it was just more of the same.

I must be missing something, but besides the fantastic 4K picture quality of "Black Panther" I thought this was a real dud. Perhaps I was expecting something more along the lines of other Avenger movies rather than a rumble in the jungle. Ugh. Although it had a few (very few) redeeming moments, and I had high expectations from reading reviews, I had to force myself to watch until the end to see if there was anything worth watching. Unfortunately, there wasn't.

With beautiful graphics and an engaging story line, this story mirrors Plato's efforts at describing a utopian civilization. An advanced people who isolate themselves in an effort to protect their identity. With ties to the Avengers, this story timeline feels forced but it works. However, it has been over 100 years since any civilization practiced slavery and yet this unfortunate practice found voice at the end of the movie. Spoiled an overall effective story.

The movie itself is amazing. In my opinion the best stand alone marvel film. Decently accurate to comics and every actor/ actress does their part phenomenally. Why 3 out of 5 you ask? Because its 2018 and the only way to view this is widescreen. On my 55"(corner to corner) sony 4k tv with sound bar...9"(top to bottom) of the screen is gone. Trust me, i pulled out the measuring tape Despite this annoyance, i still recommend it cause its a fantastic movie

While the film is good (it IS an MCU film), we are given far too detail as to how Wakanda works, leaving a lot of logic loopholes as to how the plot of the film is allowed to proceed aside from "that's how the script went." Plus, Killmonger started out great but devolved into a terrible character by the end, T'Challa is bland as all get out, and the final fight has some terrible CGI.

My son, and a large swatch of the population, love this movie. I thought that it was a well acted movie where the cast managed to hold up a somewhat weak script. Many of the characters are strong and multidimensional while almost as many are simple caricatures. Unfortunately they mix too often and scenes are diminished. Most of the action is first rate and the tech-effects are very cool.

Big Marvel fan, but this was about middle of the road for me as far as their movies go. The actor that plays T'Chala has very little charisma in the roll. I know he's supposed to be subdued, but almost wish Michael B. Jordan was cast as Black Panther as opposed to played a one-off villain (which he did well with, just doesn't seem like they'll be able to use him moving forward).

Though it evokes some predictable story tropes and some glaring plot holes, Black Panther offers what any comic book movie fan could ask for: a fun and unique superhero diversion that challenges audiences with an empathetic villain. Just don't think too much because otherwise a lot of what the characters do is downright nonsensical.

This is another really fun, entertaining movie from Marvel. They did everything right on this one, except the Audio on this is a huge let down. It was compressed and flat sounding, like it was mixed for mobile devices. A huge disappointment that hopefully can be corrected down the road, as the otherwise excellent soundtrack is really well done otherwise.

Black Panther fits into the MCU timeline and that's about the only thing that makes his solo movie relevant. The story is decent and it has some good action sequences but in my opinion Black Panther is more of a secondary character. His appearences in Captain America Civil War and Avengers Infinity War outshine his solo movie.

Unfortunately, many Disney blu-ray discs are having a lot of trouble with high quality audio output. For my system, this movie is so low even on max volume that I can't even eat a bag of chips without missing dialogue. The picture itself is gorgeous, but the audio really takes away from the viewing experience, unless you never ever crank your volume.

Compared to all of the other movies in the Marvel franchise this one by far is the worst in 4K. Don’t know if it was the way the movie was filmed or the budget but this movie visually in 4K is horrible. 4K is so awesome that there isn’t anything that looks really bad but this movie disappoints compared to others in 4K HDR

This movie was overhyped. It is an average Marvel movie. That's not to say it is bad, but it doesn't compare to the Avengers or Captain America movies. This movie is more in line with the Iron Man movies. I bought it on sale on Black Friday. Worth the sale price, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

I'm a huge comic fan, love the Marvel movies, and the character of Black Panther. This is visually a stunning film at times and is a decent (if average) comic book film. I don't think it deserves all of the praise it has gotten, but it is definitely a worthy film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Not as good as some of the other Marvel films, mainly because the storyline is not as tight. Perhaps it's due to Panther's marginal position in the huge Marvel character line. Still, the acting is good, the action is good, and it's a fine movie to watch from the couch.

Very slick and entertaining, but they have gone down a very difficult path to tell much of any more about the main character. Will have to go back and double check, but it seems as though they’ve taken quote of “artistic license” with this story.
