    Upgrade Living up to Expectations

    |
    Posted .

I never do reviews, but I felt this might help others if they are looking for a great new smartphone at a respectable price. 6 months ago I decided to quit the apple iphone. Tired of the locked down system, poor battery performance, SMS texting issues and constant retyping of email and texts on the touch screen. Switched to the Blackberry Priv with Verizon last fall. Better battery performance, open Android OS, and faster typing on the keyboard. The phone met my expectations for the most part, however, I continue to desire faster processing and still greater battery performance. Ordered the new Blackberry Keyone (CDMA Verizon) unlocked version from BestBuy. Got it last night. I can say today, so far I am extremely pleased. Phone was working by just switching the sim cards. Blackberry content transfer moved my data efficiently. After a full work day of use, the battery performance is at 76% when my Priv would have been below 50%, and my iPhone would have been dead and recharging. I use some mobility apps for my work that drain the battery faster than most. The performance is what I expected. Ran tests on the same network against Samsung 8+ and the outcome was almost the same. Just slightly slower. Given the price difference of $250. I can live with a second or two difference. Office Apps seem to open the as fast on the Blackberry Keyone as they did on the Samsung S8+. All apps are working well with Android Nougat. The keyboard is great, the fingerprint sensor works well, decided to even try the Blackberry hub and so far I like it. At this point, I would recommend the upgrade. If you want a secure business phone with great battery and performance, that you can actually type on, you will appreciate the new Keyone. Another note to add is the fact the phone connected well with my GM car bluetooth as well as android auto. No issues. If something changes in the future I will update my review.

    AWESOME PHONE

I have been a bb user since the early 2000s and I must say they out did themselves this time. At first it took me a little to get use to the android system coming from BB10. But again I'm starting to get the hang of it now. The hub is very similar and the keyboard is dead on. Very easy to move from email to web and back. This is a tool to get WORK done and not play games on like some of those silly child phones out there now. Hey they put money sign on the keyboard for a reason :) :) . APLUS blackberry APLUS oh I forgot to mention I don't think this battery dies.

    Welcome back blackberry, welcome

Can I just say, boy did I miss BlackBerry. BBM and the ease of email is second to none. Physical keyboard is a plus and having android makes apps accessible. This is coming from some that has used several iPhones for the past seven years!

Rock Solid, Hub is a game changer

I would buy this again just to keep BBHub. All of my messages coalesce into one app, and I can even filter out my Gmail account to avoid the junk all day. Rock solid hardware. BlackBerry and Android together is a match made in productivity heaven.

Coming Off the Priv, This Was a Fantastic Upgrade

I've had this phone now for about a month, and, as with any phone, only time will tell how durable and fast it continues to be. But just based on the time that I've owned this device, I feel confident saying that this is one of the best phones that I've ever had the chance to own. Coming off the somewhat disappointing BlackBerry Priv device, this felt like the idea of having a physical keyboard blended with the Android OS was finally realized to its fullest potential. I get fantastic battery life (I don't have to charge it every day, even with moderate use), the keyboard is incredible, and the camera takes some solid photos. Best of all, you get a fast, responsive and sexy smartphone device for a great price. Don't spend thousands of dollars to get the new iPhone — you're gonna have to replace it again in two years or less (just like every phone you buy). I dared to be different by choosing this phone, and I'm so glad that I did.

    Great phone! Solid, fast, sophisticated.

What a pleasure to use this outstanding new phone from BlackBerry. It has the real keyboard and enhanced security that set Blackberries apart, but also outperforms its predecessors and competitors in accuracy and speed. The battery charges quickly and holds its charge longer than any phone I've had, including the iPhone I have for work, which is crude and clunky in comparison. As one of many examples I can type, Swype or voice text more quickly quickly and accurately than anyone else by using this phone. I waited a few weeks after buying it to write this review just to be sure the phone lived up to the hype. It has exceeded my high expectations. Thank you, Blackberry, for this advanced phone for grown ups. Bravo!

    CDMA (for Verizon) KeyOne

    Posted .

First day out of the box, and all is well. Seamless sim card transition from my Verizon BlackBerry Classic - all managed on-line with Verizon, didn't even need to speak to a rep. Added my Office 365 account without difficulty and everything synching properly. Adding apps from Google Play a piece of cake. On the road now, left the city, and have Verizon service all the way. Keyboard is an easy transition from the Classic, capacitive screen is very responsive, no lag launching apps. So far, I'm thrilled!

    Love BlackBerry Keyone

Coming from the PRIV which always overheated and battery life sucked. Keyone is a great phone. This is a phone for grown folks who do not have the desire or time to play video games all day long. Now you will get a few sides eyes and even some laughs from people that did realize BlackBerry was still around- But I don't care. I've never been a person to follow the crowd. I always danced to my own beat. I have had iPhone, droids and window phones and nothing compares to this one. So far no problems with this phone. BlackBerry for life!!! Highly recommended O yes this phone is quite sleek and sexy!!! Remembered adults need only apply...

KeyOne is a great phone with best keyboard ever!

Best Android 7.1.1 Nougat Phone with a physical keyboard on a smartphone. It is a great improvement on previous blackberries which only ran Blackberry OS. The keyboard is excellent for typing on. It is an Android phone and can use any Android app from the Google Play Store, but it also includes the Blackberry software with the old BBM etc. In addition to the physical keyboard, it is possible to have the virtual keyboard displayed so that there's always a choice. The display is crystal clear, and the Android build is very solid. Audio is decent quality, and the camera takes awesome pics. Wi-fi works well, and reception is good for voice phone call quality. It ig great for playing videos and streaming to a tv. Vibrate is very strong indeed. Opening too many applications does often result in a memory warning in which case you will need to close apps and restart the phone. That is the one flaw that I have found, perhaps I need to add a memory card. Here is a hidden feature I found, if you run your fingers over the keyboard in a vertical motion from top to bottom, you can scroll up and down on a webpage!

    Excellent phone!

This is my first blackberry phone, and I love it! The keyboard is excellent! My job requires typing, and this phone is great for that. Some of the great features include, an up swipe on the keyboard to auto-complete words, backwards swipe the delete entire words, and controlling the typing cursor by double tapping the keyboard. The keyboard also acts as shortcuts, which are easy to set up and use. The screen looks great and the battery life is excellent. When all of the other smartphones look and act the same, this one will stand out.

    Another Blackberry

Had to replace my BlackBerry Classic. Verizon no longer sells this brand. Verizon sent me to best buy. Phone serves purpose of having another BlackBerry but unfortunately it does have quirky issues that both Verizon and bestbuy had to be contacted. The keytwo can not be purchased for Verizon so keyone is the only option.because it is the only Port in a storm another one may have to be purchased to replace a second classic. I was fortunate to meet a Verizon specialist that set up the phone.

    Premium Experience

    Posted .

50% charge out of the box, never got lower. Fast shipping, good tracking (email notifications) and the UPS guy insisted on handing it to someone (instead of leaving it on the porch). Good job, Verizon, for helping set me up with a SIM card, when my old one was too large. Coming from a six-yr-old Blackberry Z-10, I miss the business-first attitude of BB10, but not the phone. I gave this one a leather flip case and will never look back. I admit I couldn't afford the old price, but when Best Buy dropped it by $100, the Keyone is now the best phone you can get for the buck. Never mind it's as thick as two I-phones, this is a big battery with a powerful phone strapped to it. I got two days use (w GPS, wifi search, video recording and flash photography). I even found the flashlight. The phone looks premium, acts premium and the keyboard stands out as a professional productivity tool like none other. I have no idea why all other phone makers ditched their keyboard designs, because this Keyone will fill a need for those who worry about accuracy, looking smart and standing out as the smartest person in the room.

    Good.

But side button placement could be better, i.e. changing the volume while the phone is in your pocket is difficult because of the Convenience Key right next to the volume rocker. The back, home and recent apps buttons have trouble reading my finger pressing against them, so I either accidentally press something on the very bottom of the touch screen or I end up pressing nothing. It actually takes some effort to press them. And using the keyboard as a trackpad is very janky.

    Secure android with qwerty keyboard

This is the best android phone to come from BlackBerry. It is fast. It has long battery life and the qwerty keyboard is Classic! You can program the keyboard to open your favorite apps. No scrolling needed. Just click and go. One can do split screen as well to work in 2 apps simultaneously. If you have questions, just tweet #blackberry help. They will direct you to someone who can. Assistance comes within 24 hours. Love it.

    Breath taking

    Posted .

First of all, this phone is truly remarkable. Some have cited that the processor is not strong enough to adequately power this phone, but I disagree. You may not be able to hard core game with perfect frame rates on this phone, but why would you? This phone is for serious people. It's a phone for those who want to get things done--and fast. I find that this phone can easily manage the rigors of multi-tasking and Web browsing. The KeyOne is a beast. The battery life is phenomenal. I wasn't sure just how great it would be, but it has certainly exceeded my expectations. it is definitely an all day battery. The keyboard is obviously a huge plus for me. I am constantly sending emails and text messages and have been so happy with the speed and accuracy of this keyboard. The touch sensitive keys are rather useless in my opinion but I do like the idea here. Bottom line, if you want a phone to game with and watch movies all day long then forget this review. This is the nicest phone I've ever owned and I can't wait to see what BB & TCL have for us in the future! Great job BlackBerry!! 5 STARS!

Excellent phone, a modern Blackberry, at last!

Excellent smarter phone. Different! The keyboard is exactly right for me. I have used other android smart phones and hated the screens and "keyboard". This has a sharp screen, great camera, Anddroid OS, and the programmable keyboard is fast and easy to use, just what I've been looking for. The battery lasts for days, not hours, and it has an expandable memory. I am very pleased with this phone, obviously, and the salesperson at the phone store said "Oh! I like this phone!"

Reunited and It Feels so Good....

I had a Blackberry for 10 years and was switched to a Samsung. I am very happy to have switched back recently. I'm not a techno-junkie and do not "live" on my phone. It's exactly what I need for email, phone calls, text, and a very small list of apps. (Isn't an app something you eat before dinner?" People always ask: "Do they still make Blackberry?" Indeed, they do.

This was by far my best phone purchase at $400. I am not a fan of Blackberry, but I love the keyboard and shortcuts and spacebar fingerprint scanner and super fast and...well you get the idea! Battery lasts for 2 full days with normal usage, and the ANDROID OS will run any app seamlessly. The aluminum frame and textured soft backing make the phone very comfortable and it has a nice weight to it. Can't wait to see what the updated KeyTwo has to offer.

I have owned Blackberry phones since they were born. This one is a monster; it is super fast and very easy to operate. Ideal mobile phone for yourself and your employees. Love the keyboard, the convenience key on the side and the option of adding more than one Fingerprint and all a lot of other great features.
