Awesome microphone; the boom arm could use work

The microphone is awesome! It sounds really, really good on a call or on a recording, and is sturdy. My only complaint with the overall product is the boom arm. The attachment between the shock mount and the arm doesn't have a sturdy lock to keep the microphone positioned in one place; it's just a ring that you have to tighten... and then not bump the microphone. It works, but not as well as it should. Overall, the product is awesome, and I don't regret buying it. But anyone else that does so should just be aware that you may need to mess with the attachment from the shock mount to the arm a bit to get it just right.

Yeti stands strong in the flooded market.

Overall it's pretty simple. Attach it to the desk, plug it in, get to making noise. Yeti remains a proven name in the market and this package didn't fail the reputation. My only complaint was getting the boom balanced seemed tedious. However, once it was done I haven't to mess with it since. The microphone is crisp and clear. This particular model isn't anything particularly special, but it is a quality product. The body is made of the same durable materials you're familiar with from this line. The shock mount is a little interesting to me as it's not as free floating as I was expecting, but it's also not sloppy. Since it's a bit on the rigid side it doesn't seem to isolate the mic as much as I would prefer. All in all it seems durable and has done a good enough job so far. I already mentioned my complaint about the boom, but the pros really outweigh that. The articulations are smooth and snug without being too rigid to allow fluid movement. It's just springy enough that I don't worry about treating it too gingerly if I have to move it while the mic is hot. The base isn't yet permanently secured to my worktop, and that usually is a huge weak point in most c-clamp type mounts. On this boom that doesn't seem to be an issue. The boom doesn't sway and it isn't sloppy. There's a smooth and fluidlike rotation when I need it, but it sits secure and stationary when I need it to. The materials are durable and the inset channel for cable management was well thought out. There isn't a lot of slack for things to hang on. I'm pleased with the purchase and would say this is comparable with the Shure MV7 in terms of quality. The Yeti lacks the XLR jack, but these days that my not really be the necessity I feel it is. The price is fair given that you're actually receiving three separate Yeti products in the package; The microphone, Compass boom arm, and Radius shock mount. You don't get the traditional desktop mount for the mic, which I think is a bit of a ripoff, but I'm sure there is a net savings for Yeti that I'm sure they justify by saying it allows them to package the items at a low cost to the consumer.

    Good Sound Quality, but..

The sound quality seems to be very good. While using this microphone I have had no technical issues with it. The main issue I had with this microphone was set up. Specifically the "arm" that holds the microphone. It kept wanting to bend in the wrong direction, which led to parts of the arm becoming bent/damaged. I do not believe this effects the arm significantly besides aesthetics of it, but it was something that was a little upsetting to see. Setting up the microphone is easy, but setting up the arm is quite difficult/annoying to deal with but once you have it set up it is all good.

Recommend the Blue Yeti Mic and Shock mount so this is an excellent value getting mic, mount, and arm all in one package for a great price. Just make sure that you are careful when adjusting the tension screw. Make sure to release the tension completely on all three adjustment dials on the arm before you adjust the screw this can strip the screw if you do not. Learned that the hard way and had to buy a new arm for my son’s Yeticaster.

    Excellent Mic

I am not a recording professional. This is definitely the best mic I have personally used. But, it's not perfect, so let's start with what I do not like: (1) The base of the stand and has to be upright and level. It cannot be mounted sideways or upside down. If the base is upright but not level, even off by just 15 degrees or so, the arm always rotates down hill. This makes it difficult to use on slightly slanted surface without having to shim it with something. (2) I really wish the mic has a power switch, but at least it has a mute switch with a blinking LED when muted. (3) Do not adjust the stand's tension knobs unless absolutely necessary. Do not adjust them until after the stand is firmly mounted, and the shock ring and mic are attached. Once you start turning them, it becomes difficult to adjust them so that the mic stays where you put it. In reality, you do not need to adjust them unless you use a mic other than the one that came in the kit. Now, moving to what do I like: (1) The sounds quality is excellent. (2) It has on-mic controls for muting, and for adjusting mic gain, headphone volume, and spatial pattern. (3) It is truly plug and play on Windows 10. (But, it does not come with recording software). (4) It is setup to plug headphones (3.5mm) into the mic itself. When setup as your System Audio Output device, your system audio is routed to the mic, which mixes system audio with mic pickup, allows you to adjust mic gain and head phone volume, and then sends the mixed signal to the headphones. In short, you both hear the music and monitor your mic level via the headphones. When you use the mic as a recording device, even though you hear mixed audio in the headphones, the recording software only records mic, which allows you to keep the mic audio track isolated from the music track.

A redisign is in order for the mic arm

My 3-star rating is based on the fact that the mic arm (I would all it a articulating boom arm) is not of good quality. It's actually surprisingly of very low quality. I'm so very surprised that they would use metal for the arm lengths but they'd use plastic parts for the joint articulation points. So, when I try to tighten the joints, they just don't tighten snugly like they should. They feel like they are going to break. As for the Mic, I have no doubt that I've gotten a good mic. I bought it because I read reviews and this mic has awesome reviews. I haven't had a chance to test it yet because I'm still in the process of learning how to utilize its features correctly. So, I feel that I'm not qualified to give my review on the mic because I can't say I'm qualified to use it correctly yet. As for the articulating boom arm mic holder review, I did get the mic and the boom arm as an "open box" item, for which I cannot return it. Perhaps the person who'd bought this prior to me had returned it because they had felt the same about the mic holder arm as I do.

Great price for the product combo. Boom arm has some very weak points though. Broke the screw that tightens the middle portion of the boom arm. Definitely didn’t feel like it was over tightened. The plastic knob just broke right off the screw while turning it. Price of the arm alone is about $100 and there are no replacement parts out there. As nice as the boom arm is I probably won’t be looking to get another. I would suggest buying the warranty to cover the boom arm itself. The mic works great.

Solid Boom, Great Mic Sound Quality

Overall very happy with this purchase. The quality is great (although you will want to make your own sound filters/settings so it doesn't capture EVERYTHING around you) The boom is high quality, the price is good for the combo. 4 stars because the arm has a backward bend so you can't really use it behind a desk (wall) as it'll hit. It's meant for the side of a desk, but my desk doesn't have enough room for the mount on the sides. So I ended up putting it in the back but using the tension rods to force the boom to straighten out so I could fit it against the wall.

I've been looking to upgrade my setup for a while, so I purchased this while it was on sale. The Yeti is a fantastic mic. Great sound quality that matches the price point. Only real problem I have is that the knobs on the arm are not as tight or flexible as they can be. Once you get past that, it is extremely durable and strong.

There has been a lot of hate to the blue yeti, but after trying over 5 different mics, this one is the best so far. The bundle just makes it even better. It would be perfect if it included the pop filter or windscreen, both would be even better

The Yeti mic is an excellent piece of gear. All the reviews on it are pretty spot on. However, the arm that comes with this kit is frustrating to use. If you tweak the tension at the joints at all (which you will have to do constantly), the arm becomes either to hard to move, or too floppy. The line between the two is razor thin. The reason I'm eating this product highly is because of the mic. My recommendation is to get the Yeti and pair it with another arm.

This is an outstanding bundle for the price, this has taken my streaming to a whole new level and look for my setup. If you are looking for one of the top usb mics, look no where it's here. The Blue Yeti is one of the top mics in the market specially for podcast use. The boom arm is very well built compare to others, I would say second to the Rode. The shock mount is definitely premium built, and I love the fact that boom arm has wire management to hide most of the cable.

the microphone is pretty good in sound and very sensitive. the arm, though, needs a bit of adjustment out of the box and still is very limited on how well you can keep the mic in one place without it springing back up. a rubber band is an easy fix but still a bit awkward. also may need to get a windguard for the mic, it tends to pick up a lot of extra sound, even on the lowest gain setting.

At first I was skeptical to spend 200$ on a microphone and a boom arm, however after checking prices and other things like that it honestly saves you some money in the end. Great Microphone, Excellent Boom Arm, and very easy to setup and saves you a-lot of space on your desk. I do recommend getting a pop filter just as you would any mic.

This Yeti microphone set really helps to get it where it’s needed instead of on the desk. The setup was straight forward. It takes a few minutes to find sted, but it’s worth the effort to get it just right. The Yeti mike itself is the best i’ve use. Also, the shock mount isolated they mike from stray desktop noir. The only extra I recommend is a nice pop filter. Overall, this was a worthwhile purchase!

The Arm was a bit difficult to understand at 1st because it is not like the normal mic arm stands that bends with springs. It does have a weight issue if put out too far and it just sinks. I dont understand the tensions configuration, it works now so i aint moving it. both Tension wire and USB wire are hidden. There is very minimal noise while moving the mic, no one in chat ever notices. For the better of the past 5 months of owning this product i had it mounted vertically like in the photo, But it is always mounted in the way within sight of my Ultra wide screen. But like i said before the movement has virtually no noise and it swivels away with ease. NOW i got it mounted horizontally and my screen is not interrupted anymore from sight. With separate purchases for other decent products id say the Value of mic, shock, and arm is definitely wort it. I personally would not recommend this for majority of Side by side >29" monitor setups, or streamers (for beginners maybe). This is more for straight up gamers on chat, Zoom classes, and beginner ASMR. The adjustability of the arm just doesn't work out for above or between monitors. And if you just have it one side, you're away from your mic looking at the other monitor. I mean, it's a Yeti Blue, so you can turn up the pitch to butt scratching sensitivity.

This is a great mic for the price. It was a little tricky to get the boom set up, but now that is, it's perfect. I have it set up so I can swing it out towards my chair when I'm recording and then easily push it back and out of the way when it's not in use. Great crisp, clear sound, gets both my vocals and guitar. Easy plug and play set up. Highly recommended!
