Great for Fresher Air in any Room!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We didn't have high expectations for the BlueAir 211+ due to past experiences with other air "purifiers". Most just blew dust around and made the situation worse. This product has actually done what it says (so far). The unboxing was simple as was the set-up. Everything is pretty much already in place; just remove the packing tape where the air sensor is, put on the pre-filter and off you go. The 211+ has several modes; night (low), boost (high) and auto (based on how much air displacement that the air sensor determines). In other words, the sensor determines how dirty the air is and speeds up or slows down the fan necessary to clean the ambient air. The unit has a little LED on the front that gives you the status of the air sensor and what it determines the level of air pollution. Green (good), amber (moderate) and red (bad). The touch control on the top has LEDs in a circle also around the touch control to tell you what mode it's in. These LEDs turn off after a few seconds so as not to be distracting. We have not had to run it at full speed much, but I can tell you it is MUCH quieter than any previous air purifier that we have owned. In fact, on low speed you can barely hear it running! Some others have complained about the Blue Air 211+s having a poor or bad smell coming from them. We did not experience this, but it does have an "fresh air" hard to explain smell, I assume from the electrostatic system built in to assist the HEPA filter. It is built to help keep the unit from producing harmful ozone from the electrostatic element of the unit, but we had no way to test this. I can say that after a few days in operation in our rather large living room it has made a marked difference in the overall air quality of the room as well as a reduction of dust. The unit does not, however, have any app control or wifi connection for external control. It is a complete stand-alone device. We didn't need all those bells and whistles and would rather not pay for things we wouldn't probably use anyway. (Not everything needs wifi…) For us, it has been the best of the several brands we have tried so far (to include a couple of the BIG NAME systems). We highly recommend this unit and will update in the future were things to change (better or worse).

Impressive & Quiet Air Purifier!

I love the outside removable filter; fits on like a skirt, is washable, and easy to put on. The air purifier is incredibly quiet. This was super easy to set up, the lights tell you whether you have it on auto, medium or high. There's a light that tells you the air quality. Blue is good, orange is getting bad and red is bad. I have had it turn orange once after cooking bacon, and red once when I cooked fish. It did a great job of clearing the air quickly. While it does get loud on the highest setting, on auto it is so quiet you wouldn't know it was on, except that you can feel the air coming out from the top. I do recommend this air purifier.

After extensive research she landed on this model, citing rave reviews and study’s to support the claims. We set up the purifier in our main bedroom only to find that the purifier was signaling that the air within the room was clear immediately after hook up. Figuring that was a mistake we read the instructions again and positioned it appropriately, only to be signaled again that the air was immediately clear. Feeling that something was off we took the purifier to two other rooms in the house (one of which is a bedroom to three dogs) and again in all rooms the purifier signaled the air to be clear. After reading the instructions again we came to the conclusion that the unit was faulty and returned it. We plan to try our luck with Dyson. Fingers crossed.

Loud and Expensive

Really can not tel yet

After three days the white light on top started slowly flashing on and off and the air quality lights cycled through. I went to look it up on the website but this unit is not on the company website. I called twice during call hours and the system told me they were closed. I emailed twice- no response. So yesterday I called and held on through 27 min until pick up. First I was told that the BB description was wrong and the unit did not exist. So finally we got down to the right unit and low and behold the unit is defective and they are sending me a new one. My concern is they are promoting the items so much and do not have the infrastructure to support it. No excuse to give a we are closed notice on a call center when you are promoting you are open. No reason not to response to email snd phones. And being on hold for 27 min with no indication where you are in the cue is not acceptable. Plus promoting a product as your latest and best snd not even having it on your website is as Leo not acceptable. I will give an operational review when I get one that works.

Good air cleaner

This unit seems to be doing a fairly good job at cleaning the air in my apt. After running it for a few days I notice that the air seems less stale smelling. It is pretty sensitive to the air passing by the air quality sensor. I have it set to auto fan and once the sensor detects a drop in air quality the fan ramps up from low speed which it runs at most of the time to either medium or high speed depending on the level it detects for air quality. Not sure at what level the unit ramps up but I do know that it is pretty sensitive even candle smoke set it to a higher speed until it detected cleaner air. The main filter comes preinstalled and you have to install the pre-filter which is included in the box. The unit is well packaged so that even with shipping there was no damage to the unit or box. You will need to dedicate about 1.5 sq. ft. for it to be placed in a room as it is approx. 13" square. This will allow proper airflow all around it. At first I was skeptical that this was going to do a good job as it is basically a fan that pulls air through a filter. but the heart of the device is the filter itself. It appears to be a HEPA filter with a charcoal filter as an inner layer. The pre-filter is a cloth filter that slides over the grill at the bottom giving it a more pleasant look while providing function. The unit also has an LED that changes color based on the level of air quality. The LED goes from blue which indicates good quality, to yellow which indicates fair, and red which indicates poor. Each of these are accompanied by a change in fan speed from low to medium then high. As the air quality improves the fast slows down in steps. The only complaint I have with the entire device is that instead of having the transformer for the power installed inside the unit and a standard plug Blue Air decided to use a wall wart at the end of the cord that plugs in the wall. This makes it difficult if you have an odd outlet configuration that will allow a standard plug to plug in but will not allow a transformer at the end of a cord to plug in, making it difficult to use in a desired room that has non-traditional outlets. I guess you could use an extension cord, but that would not always be a safe option. This is why I gave this four stars. Other than that it is a nice unit overall.
