Strong chemical odor & lack of customer service
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We just returned the Blueair - Blue Pure 211+ because of the strong plastic and chemical smell coming from the carbon filter, and the lack of response from their customer service. We first placed it in our bedroom, but the plastic/chemical odor that it emitted was very irritating and headache-inducing. We then moved it to the dining room and let it run on medium continuously for a week but the smell did not dissipate - in fact it seemed worse. We sent an email to their customer support with all of our contact information, waited for two weeks with absolutely no response from them, and then returned it. Until this company figures out a way to manufacture and store the carbon filter without it picking up other odors along the way, we can not recommend this product to anyone.

Over Rated.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not find the filter to remove orders and the unit directions did not explain the filters in detail. I needed to call customer service at the company and Best Buy and found out no additional filter was in the middle. I do not think the high setting is that quiet and middle setting does not seem strong enough to help clean the air.

Posted .Sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your purifier. Some thing to consider to get the best performance are location (making sure that the purifier has enough free flowing air around to to be able to circulate effectively), room environment (keeping windows closed while in operation is best suited for maximum efficiency), and speed setting (operating on high fan speeds will produce higher Clean Air Delivery Rates giving you cleaner air faster). In regards to the filter in the middle, there are two parts to the main filter, the white particle filter and the black carbon filter. They are assembled as one piece to make replacement easy. There should be no additional filter in the middle.

Works great!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great air purifier. It covers a pretty large sized room. I really like the filter on the outside and the little slot in the back to put the wire through. It is quiet, which is great for use through out the night if your allergies are just making it hard to sleep. I usually put my air purifier on at night when my allergies are acting up really bad. When I wake up in the morning I feel a ton better.

Rotten milk smell
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the “Blueair - Blue Pure 211+ Auto 550 Sq. Ft. HEPASilent Air Purifier – White” from Best Buy on 9/15/21. It took a few weeks for me to notice that the foul smell of what seemed like rotten milk was coming from your air purifier. I read their website's FAQ and moved it to the finished basement and let it run on full speed for 2 weeks. It still smelled like rotten milk - and unfortunately that was then after the return window. I moved it into my office on the 3rd floor with it off for a few weeks to see if the smell would dissipate on its own. It has not. I can’t use it – the entire 3rd floor now smells vaguely like rotten milk.

Posted .Hi there, we are sorry to hear about this issue. I want to assure you that the materials and manufacturing processes used to produce Blueair filters are all carefully monitored and regulated. Please also note that many new products release a smell upon opening and initial use, including filter media. The newness smell should typically move through and out of the filter within 48 hours of use, but since you have run the air purifier for 48 hours and are still experiencing this issue, we are happy to send out a replacement filter at no cost to help make this situation better. Please send us an email at info@blueair.com. Thank you!

Posted .Hi Logan! Please rest assured that your 211+ Auto is capturing significant levels of pollutants and has been independently tested and certified to do so by AHAM, The Association of Home Appliances. All of this is dependent on its proper use, meaning that it is in the appropriate-sized space and that the doors and windows to that space are not open. Quiet, Cleaner Air
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought this air purifier would be a nice addition to our house because my fiance' has mild-moderate asthma and we have 3 cats and overall, I just feel like our house is always dusty and full of air impurities. I'm super pleased with the square footage this purifier covers and while I personally can't tell a huge difference in the air quality, my fiance' says he can and it's helped him breath a little better and even use his inhaler a bit less. It's SO quiet. I love that feature. We placed it in our living room and I was worried that it would be too loud over the TV. It's almost too quiet because I keep thinking it's not working properly, haha. You can change the modes, there's about 3-4 of them, but we keep ours on auto. All in all, it's super modern and cool looking, very quiet and improves the air quality in our house. 10/10 recommend!

Love this!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently moved in with my sister and brother-in-law with my two cats in a very dry climate. Since we have been here, my sister had scratchy eyes and throat, and a horrible cough. I have had this running for 3 days and nights now and it is mostly gone. The unit was packed perfectly and only needed to be plugged in and turned on. It looks sleek even though is is not small- non intrusive in my decor. It is very quiet. Filter maintenance looks very easy, however the replacements are not that cheap (I see around $40). I do NOT use the pre-filter but it looks nice. Again I give this 5 stars for the way it has helped my sister tolerate my cats!!

Improvement in allergy issues and dust build-up
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in Las Vegas, where dust is high and pollens excessive. Due to the warm weather that we experience from February on, it is not unusual to experience severe allergy discomfort early in the year and have to live with it until November. When the opportunity came to review the Blueair Blue Pure 211+ as part of the Best Buy Technical Insider Network (a program where products are provided to members in return for an honest, unbiased review), I jumped at the chance. Each member of my family struggles with a variety of seasonal allergies, including rag weed, mulberry, Bermuda grass, olive trees, mesquites, oleanders; you name it we have a problem with it. We have gotten used to taking the different allergy supplements that exist out there to try and cope, but they are not always that effective and can lead to tiredness. The 211+ is a good-looking little unit, white plastic with a grey-cloth prefilter that wraps around the bottom of it. It is stylish-looking and will fit in with the decor well. In my case, almost all my furniture is dark, so it does stick out a bit like a sore thumb. Still, it looks nice enough. You need to make sure that it is placed in an open space with a couple of feet open around it for proper airflow. The user can choose different speeds for the fan, or do what I did, which was place it on automatic. In use, on the low setting, the fan is whisper silent. You don't hear it but you can feel it from the top. On high, the 211+'s fan is pretty loud, well over 30 decibels and obvious. Since I left it in automatic, I would say it ran at the low, whisper-quiet speed 99% of the time. Occasionally, the fan would sense that air quality was not so good (like when we burned something in the oven) and it ramped up to high to clear the nasty air out. I thought that was really cool. The fan sensed that the air quality dropped due to some burning cheese that fell on the floor of the oven and immediately ramped up to clear the air. Within an hour, the 211+ was back to normal low speed, and we could tell that the air was better. The results, for us, have been surprising. Since placing the 211+ in service, our need to take allergy pills has been lowered and we have noticed a marked difference in the sneezing, sniffling, and hacking that we normally do. Even though the 211+ is only in one room (the room we spend most of our time during the day in), it seems as though it has made the entire house's air less allergenic. It is awesome to have a house to return to that is free of allergens. Another noticeable result in air quality is a drop in dust build up in the main room that the 211+ is found in. I might have been a tad skeptical at how effective the 211+ could have been in my house, but will tell you without hesitation that it has made a huge difference in the air quality in my house.

Fragile plug

Super quiet purifier
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Blue air pure 211 + is a super quiet, super easy to setup and super nice air purifier. The only thing you have to do after unboxing, is slip on the outside filter and plug it in. Once you have it ready to go, there is one simple button on top. Push one time for auto mode where the unit senses air quality and adjusts speeds accordingly, or you can press the button two, three or four times for additional speeds. The fifth press turns the unit off. This model is designed to work in large rooms and as far as I can tell, does a great job filtering. I don't have any complaints what so ever so far. If you have a large room, this unit should do the trick.

Awesome air purifier
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I have always woken up throughout the night and in the mornings with stuffed noses. We both have no allergies but we do have 3 dogs who sleep with us. The Blue Air Pure 211+ was exactly what we needed. We have been using it every night and have had zero issues, we both slept through the night and awoken without stuffy noses. This it definitely a must have in every house. It is super quiet and easy to use, and if you are a person who needs some fan noise to help you sleep, it can be loud enough for you.

Not recommended!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a gap at the top of the HEPA filter between it and the frame underneath the fan so the fine particles can bypass the filter. So you are blowing all the fine particles all around your room and breath them in. By the way, the review program forced me to choose 1 star.

DO NOT PURCHASE! IT IS JUNK! BRAKES IN 3 WEEKS!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the worst products I've ever purchased. It's ugly but it works great and is simple to use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple is the name of the game with the Blue Pure 211+ air purifier. There is just one touch control on top that takes care of everything..... or a least everything this particular air purifier is capable of doing. Plug it and touch the big button on top once and you can just walk away. Nothing else really needs to be done until it is time to change the filter. This simple step puts the Blue Pure 211+ into auto mode, whereby an onboard sensor sniffs the air and decides how fast to run the fan. Slow when air quality is good, medium when not so good, fast when things are bad., Those are pretty much the only choices you have with this particular device. You can manually opt for a faster speed by touching the button two, three or even four times. But there are no timers or other fancy controls or displays to worry about. (Which is sort of a shame really since a timer is a really useful feature on an air purifier since they do not really need to run 24/7. ) The basic design of the Blue Pure 211+ is equally simple. It is essentially a big white rectangular plastic box, with a large boxy filter hidden inside on the bottom and a fan assembly on top. Air enters from all directions on the bottom and is filtered and blown straight up. Aesthetics are a matter of personal preference but I find it a bit ugly. It is quite large, obviously plastic and aside from some rounded edges has no features to make it attractive or fit into any decor. It screams. I am a plastic box with a fan on top. It's only saving grace on the design front is an optional fabric "pre filter" -- a bolt of stretchy gray fabric (other colors available at additional cost) that fits around the bottom half where the air enters the device. I suggest you use it, since it is functional -- filtering out big particles -- and makes the Blue Pure 211+ look not quite so ugly. In the end though, this is an air purifier and on that front it does a pretty good job on rooms up to 500 square feet. The company says the gigantic internal filter takes out pretty much everything, including mold, bacteria, dust pollen and pet dander -- even viruses. An extra carbon layer goes further and reduces odors. The Blue Pure 211+ is remarkably quiet on its lowest setting but gets noisy fast if conditions warrant medium or fast fan speed. Those higher speeds are akin to the noise level from an exhaust fan over a stove. Definitely not a sleeping companion. But you can sleep away on the low setting, which is barely a whisper. A special "night mode" also dims the lone light on the front, which changes color to indicate how dirty the air is -- blue is good, amber medium, red is bad. Maintenance is easy but not cheap. The boxy filter is supposed to be replaced every six months if the device is run 24/7 (a light on top reminds you) and costs about $70. (Cheaper no name filters are available) The pre-filter, at least, is permanent but needs to be regularly vacuumed to removed external dust and debris. It is also machine washable. The sensor also needs regular cleaning. In the large pantheon of air purifiers out there, you could do worse than this one. It is simple to use, works well and is far from the mostly costly one you can buy. If can live with the plastic boxy aesthetic, and the lack of any additional features, like a timer, you should be good to go.
