Nice, quiet air purifier for large room/small home

I live in a rural area outside of a medium sized town in the Midwest. During different times of the year we get a lot of pollen, smoke from neighbors burning leaves/grass/branches, and various odors from nearby farms. To make things worse, I have allergies from many of the trees and grasses that grow right around my home. So, I basically need a home air purifier in order for me to work and sleep at different times. This is currently the height of pollen season for oak trees here and everything is constantly covered with yellow pollen. But, I have had the Blue Pure 211i Max running for three days now and I feel it has really kept the dust and pollen down inside our home greatly. I don't wake up with a stuffy head or have the bouts of sneezing and runny nose. I haven't taken any allergy medicine either.
The Blue Pure 211i Max is a well designed and a nice looking floor unit. I think it blends in well to our home decor. After awhile, you don't even notice it is there. The motor is also very quiet and you really can't hear any noise, unless you get right up to it. The motor is large and so is the filter. It can quickly clear the air in the room within a short time. Our main living area is approximately 1,400 square feet, which according to the Blueair information, can be cleared in 30 minutes. The Blue Pure system is largely something you set and forget. The App is very nice and provides a lot of information about the air quality in my area and inside my home. I was able to program the days and times that I wanted it to operate and just let it do it's thing. I have occasionally looked at the App, while I am home or away at work, just to see what the air quality is in my home and how fast the fan is working. I also like that I can override any programmed setting in case we are going to be home early or out later. The programming is easy and works just like a programmable thermostat.
As I mentioned earlier, I've only had the Blue Pure 211i Max for 3 days. So, I am still learning about some of its capabilities and the best place to put this in my home. I debated whether to put this on the second floor, where we sleep. Or put it in the main living area, where we spend the majority of our awake times. For now, I have this in our Family Room, which also covers the kitchen and dining rooms and is near the front and back entrances. After only 3 days, I feel confident in saying that this has helped clear the room air of kitchen smells, as well as filtering out the pollen, dust, and odors from the outside. If you, or anyone in your family, have allergies or sensitivities to indoor or outdoor odors, I would certainly recommend the Blue Pure 211i Max for your home.

Yes there is a plastic seal which you will see when pulling the purifier out of the box. I upgraded from the 211+ Auto which I ran on high 24/7. There was definitely a storage smell that had been built up on the 211i Max so I ran at full speed for 72+ hours and that smell was gone. That’s the only thing with this one.
Pros:
Upgrade from 350 CADR to 401
Smart Display which shows EVERY PARTICLE SCANNED into the filter which is also included on the Smart BlueAir APP (iPhone) So you can see exactly how clean the air is. I have mine automated to turn to auto when I leave the apartment and then when I am about 2 miles away from the apartment, the purifier goes full blast for about 15 minutes so by the time I get home, the air is fresh. This is a crazy advantage filter wise which they are now boasting 9-12 months. The 211+ Auto I swapped out religiously every 6 months. The sensor on this air purifier is the true intelligence behind this Swedish engineering. I vape in my room which is a dorm (so maybe 150 sq feet). When I vape medical marijuana and have the device on auto, it is picked up immediately. The part per million jump to over 300, and in about 30-60 seconds, the display shows ZERO PPM and your air has effectively been cleansed. No Smell or Mary J. It’s like it never happened. Even if I cap from across the room, it kicked in and auto tunes to the proper cleanse to get that number back down to 0 PPM. The Auto Feature on the 211+ Auto wasn’t bad in my opinion. I thought it was good. After owning the 211i Max, its like a halo. There is 4 fan speeds and an auto and night. Power on Power Off and wi-if signal, to show it is connected. Your remote Control, is your phone which in my case is an Apple iPhone 14 pro. The highest gear (level 4) is where I keep it, which is one decibel lower then level three on my old 211+ Auto. The 4th gear is noticeabley different suction pulling in more air at a ever so slightly quieter decibel level that the 211+Auto. Part of me wants to smoke a cigarettes in my room just to see how well it does and how fast it goes to 0 PPM, but I quit smoking cigs a long time ago and the last thing I need to know is that I can smoke cigs in my room. Marijuana Vapor, when placed on Auto before the session, eliminated the odor in about 1-5 minutes. Once it kicks in I set the setting on high. Overall, I do not know how they beat this one. Wish it came with an extra pre-filter but whatever. Price of the replacement filter is the same price as the replacement on the 211+ and 211+Auto. A lot of people will probably be turned off by the initial smell. 72+ hours of full speed and you now have the new number one rated air purifier of 2023 (guaranteed), the 211i Max being #1 next to the 211+ Auto, which is 2nd. Before returning my 211+ Auto I placed both purifiers at opposite sides. When blowing vapor in the middle, the 211+Auto was left powerless to the suction of the 211+ max. It might be nice to have this one turned on at all times and another on auto. For me its the Dyson HP01 (COOL-HEAT). I just keep it on oscillating and auto. Jet stream no intake on the Dyson. I use the Dyson at night for Direct Clean air on my face at a preferred speed. Or in the winter, I will set the temp to 70 degrees and still keep it on auto. The 211i Max spreading the heat within seconds and then the Dyson stops as it reached the temperature set. I think this Air-Purifier will make both my Dyson filter and the 211i Max filter lasting longer as the 211i Max has the smart features and the Dyson is left on auto and never turns on. Which is why I use it at night to oscillate or agitate the already clean air pushing it all back into my room. Best air purifier for the Money CADR and Smart Features hands down.

We bought this because my wife and I have ridiculous seasonal allergies as well as multiple animals. It's a little pricey, and the replacement filters aren't cheap, but it works great. The unit paired easily to the phone app, which is intuitive and works great. It tells you the levels of three different sizes of particulates in the air. We have a real wood burning fireplace in our living room. The first time we lit a fire, I was astounded at how much pollution was quickly being put into the air by the burning logs. Almost immediately, we heard the fan on the air cleaner speeding up (we have it set to "Auto" mode). Within minutes, the particulate level began falling rapidly, and continued to drop until the air quality was once again Excellent. It stayed there the entire time that the fire was burning.
Bottom line - we are very satisfied with this product.

The Blueair -Blue Pure211i (AIR PURIFIER ) is very quiet . I have it set on "auto" It comes on when I toast bread ; D , within a minute the air is clear no smell of anything. What I like best is it also comes on when my neighbors smokes outside their house & the smell of cigarette smoke comes into my house it clears it up quicker than I can get up to close the window & doors . Best gift I given myself in 2025.
I have not used the phone "control" option.
The cord feels "heavy duty" and is long enough plug in and away from the wall.
Not very heavy easy to move .

Blueair air purifiers are sleek, quiet, and excellent at cleaning the air—especially in medium to large rooms. Their HEPASilent™ technology combines strong filtration with low noise, making them great for bedrooms or living spaces. However, the filters can be pricey, and some users notice a slight smell when first installing new ones. Overall, they’re a solid choice if you value design and performance and don’t mind the higher cost.

I love this product. I remember searching for recommendations for air filters since my house was built in 1984! I wanted to have as much clean air as possible. This filter works perfectly, the air feels cleaner and less heavy, and it's not loud at all I have it in my bedroom or sometimes in the living room. It connects with the app and you can switch the type of filtration needed, for example, if you are cooking much one day you can select the boost mode, I usually have it in automatic. I do not reject buying it, it works great, and I love it. If you need an air filter this one won't disappoint.

Very happy with this air purifier. Super quiet and definitely gets the job done. Easy set up and user friendly. I like that you can simply wash the outside fabric filter which catches larger particles and helps save on the replacement filter. I purchased 2 - this one for living room and a smaller for bedroom. Very happy with both.

We had several air purifiers from a major brand. They were decent but pretty basic. No onboard intelligence or real knowledge about the air in the house.
So we bought the smaller room-size 511i Max for the bedroom as a test.
WOW. Immediately noticed the room smelled like nothing…a good thing…and we slept better.
After a month, we bought the big 211i and let it go to town.
Again…WOW. It is in our main hallway, under a HVAC return. The whole house is better.
The app is pretty good. I was surprised, actually. There are videos for changing the filters. Easy to use.
Noise on Auto is nearly silent, even standing next to them. When we had something smoke a little on the grilltop one night, we heard both cycle up to HIGH and they were audible but not LOUD or annoying. And, they cycled back to Auto when the air was clean…about 20 minutes.
Now, the filters are not cheap. BUT, you know…from the app…where your filter is at, so you know when to replace. 511i is at 10 weeks use and still has 77% filter life.
There are 3rd party filters for about 1/2 of what Blueair charges. They also have a 15% discount if you subscribe to a replacement plan. We will probably try the 3rd party option first.
Overall, our allergies and wife’s asthma are just not a problem now. Very pleased.

Me and spouse were looking for a new purifier for our bedroom since we moved our 211+ auto (previous generation) to our living room. Bought this new generation purifier and it’s absolutely amazing! I must say it did get rid of all the allergies from the pollen that was discovered in my room.
One thing I noticed is, when you open this out of the box for the first time be sure to put the purifier on max so it can air out completely for at least 30 minutes to an hour. It does have a new type of smell but after the timeframe it should go away. I think this smell happens after setting in the warehouse for a while.

Bought the filter when the wildfires were having our air quality so pour I was getting really sick. The filter is easy to set up, the app is fairly easy to use. The app can be a little glitchy if you use multiple phones to talk to it. Sometimes the air quality readings can be glitchy. Aside from these small issues though, the filter does an amazing job. Also, at 4am when the neighbors dog starts barking and waking me up, I turn the air filter up and the white noise drowns it out. It's quiet on low but turned up it gets loud. Not annoying though, just loud.

Wow! Just Wow! Amazing air purifier. I have it in my apartment t and this thing rocks. The app is super easy to use and the air is so clean. I leave mine on auto all the time and when it detects something in the air, it gets to work. Pretty amazing. I have a dog and my allergies have gone away inside my house. The air is crisp, fresh and it takes care of any odors. Would buy another one.

Allergy symptoms are down and its had thr added benefit of working to clean the air after we cook. …which I didnt even realize was polluted. For people with pets. This is hands down the best filter that i have used. I love the wifi control. I have 3 of them throughout the house. One inside where the air intake for the house is. These capture dust and hair on the outside protector. So easy to vacuum off. Prefer over Dyson Purifier. If you have Pets this or the smaller models or even the older I would highly recommend. Prior to this i had the 211 auto.
