The air purifier seems to be working fine. Too short a time

This is the first air purifier that I have ever used. It was very simple to use and set up. To start using you simply pull it out of the box, plug it in, and push the button to turn it on. It will take some time to analyze the air. The air quality in my living room was good and I had the fan set to auto. With good air quality and the fan automatically on low it is extremely quiet. I turned the fan up to high and it got a little louder but still not too loud. Since I have been using it the fan has stayed on the lowest setting. The filters are supposed to be changed every 6 months when used 24 hours a day. Filter change is a very simple and easy process. The filter simply twists on from the top of the machine. There is also a cover on the filter which can be vacuumed/washed as needed. I believe that this is great for people who live somewhere with bad air quality or people who have allergies it helps to keep the air clean. It is able to treat the air in a pretty large area such as living room.

I have been using this air filter for the past few days and I have 100% benefited from its effects. Air purifiers are pretty straight forward. They intend to remove particles from the air that can lead to allergies and other health issues. This Blueair 311 air purifier does that with no issues. The controls are simple to use. The unit itself blends in well with just about any room. Blueair even sells other colors for the fabric wrap around the filter. I have been using the unit in my wife’s office where she has two pet guinea pigs. The purifier has reduced the odors in the room which means if you’re buying one because of your pets, I give you my recommendations for this specific purifier. I have also tried it in our master bedroom, and we have been waking up with better sinus and less congestion throughout the day. Pretty much no matter what your goal is with this filter, you will likely be very satisfied.

Perhaps the room I placed this air purifier was too big but it did not respond well to increased level of "dirty" air from cooking, other odors, etc. when set in auto mode. Ended up returning. The best thing about this machine was its design.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. In order to guarantee our purifiers' performance, we would recommend selecting a purifier that is of an appropriate size for the room you are looking to use it in. The purifier will not be as effective if placed in a room much larger than the size it is rated for.

The Blue Air 311 Purifier system seems to work well.
Caveat: I have no complaints, but I have to admit I have very few ways to accurately state that I’m totally sure this machine is doing everything it’s supposed to do. Without some kind of technological equipment, I can’t really say a whole lot about absolutely how well it works. So, based on trusting that the metrics in the machine accurately detect air quality (particulates in the air) and can assess the situation, and generally that the machine does do what it claims in terms of the rate of air exchange, I would give this machine full marks.
The Blue Air 311 is an attractive cylinder that sits unobtrusively in a room and does its job. There are not too many bells and whistles to handle, which is pretty normal at this price point. There is not, for example, an extra app or a whole lot you can control. As far as I’m concerned, that’s fine. If you are interested in that more delicate ability to adjust settings, there are choices at higher price points. For this machine, I’d say there’s a good balance of value and efficiency.
The purifier has four settings--auto, low, medium, and boost. On Auto, the unit is incredibly quiet. On low, it’s still pretty quiet. Even on boost, the unit is not loud, and quieter than most fans on high. I know this would not keep me awake, but not much does to be honest. Still, it seems very unobtrusive to me, and is far quieter than the air delivery for my heating system! The modes are controlled by tapping the top of the unit, which has a touch-sensitive area. A little indicator lights up to tell you what mode you’re in, but it doesn’t stay on. (This is largely good, as it is not distracting in the dark, but it can mean you have to go touch it to know what mode it’s in if you’ve forgotten. Unless it’s on boost or auto, I would have to touch it to know the level for sure, as the noise differentials are small.)
There is also an indicator light on the front of the unit that reads blue, yellow, or red, depending on air quality. So this little sensor lets you know if there is acceptable, medium, or high levels of particulates. The auto setting will cycle through the sensor settings when you turn it on and select the appropriate mode based on the sensor reading. It has been blue almost all the time I’ve had the unit, I admit. I purposefully tested it by (safely) burning a piece of newspaper in the room with the purifier. After a bit, the indicator changed from blue to yellow to red. Within 25 minutes, the unit (on boost mode) had cleared the matter and gone back to blue. I’ve also seen the indicator turn yellow based on cooking in the kitchen (not the room where we have the unit), so it seems fairly sensitive. When I executed the newpaper experiment, I noticed that bits of ash and crumbled newspaper detritus that had been in the air were eventually sucked onto the outside of the intake surface (under the “skin”) and I could tell that, yes, the unit was actively bringing air in.There’s also a good amount of dog hair on the skin now, and I’m glad that I can take that off and wash it. A unit that did not have a washable outer screen would be far less desirable for pet owners, I think. I should note that this unit is also rated for about 400 square feet of space. That’s a good size room. It’s important to pay attention to that rating, because many units will be rated for smaller spaces. The quietness, energy efficiency, and generous size capability are real positives for this unit.
The main filter under the fabric outer skin is a typical round, accordion style filter, somewhat like what you might see in your furnace or in a vacuum. But it seems pretty robust, and in looking at it, no dog hair has gotten through the screen to clog the filter.
Replacing the filters is a tad expensive, but this cost will be similar with most purifiers. Know going in that you will need to replace the filter at some point (the machine will tell you when it’s full). I liked as well that there is an electro-static effect with this unit, but NOT an ozone creating one. There are plenty of units that hide the fact that they create ozone, something I do not want to add to my home. This purifier has been approved as safe by the state of California (CARB tested) for ozone.
To me, I will say anecdotally that I feel like I can breathe easier and have less congestion. I have some pretty good allergies to dust, mold, and pollen, and generally don’t feel like my nose works that well. It seems to be quite clear at the moment, but I’ll say it’s winter and I will be curious to see what happens come spring.

The simplicity of the design is what makes this filter so easy to use. Just a single button on the top to press and cycle thru the settings with indicator lights to let you know what function it is in. The lights form a ring and depending on what is lit will let you know what speed is set. Unfortunately there is no markings to tell you and you need to refer to the manual to know. I'm sure after a couple of months go by I will forget and have to refer back, I wish they would put some printing on the lights to indicate what they are. the side has an air quality monitor indicator that will glow blue (clean), amber (moderate) and red (dirty) to let you know the condition of your air.
The unit is surprisingly light for the size, it feels like just an empty shell. The bottom section is just a plastic frame with a circular HEPA filter the filter totally encompasses the bottom to pull in air from all directions. Its a 3 stage filter with a washable cloth pre-filter, pleated HEPA filter and a charcoal impregnated foam filter. The top section has the fan and output that vents the air straight up. Since the air points straight up it does not create a draft like a fan would so you don't feel a blowing sensation like a side discharge would. In the low setting this is virtually silent and will not disturb anyone, the medium setting you can hear the fan running and at night this might disturb some but I like it as a background white noise. The boost setting is ridiculously loud and bothersome, sounds like my kitchen stove exhaust fan. The auto function seems to work well and will throttle the speed depending on the condition of the air. I think I'll jet leave it on low and let it do its thing at a whisper quiet level.
For an air filter this is not too bad to operate continually as far as operating costs. replacement filters are $40 and should last 6 months according to the manufacture and since the pre-filter is washable hopefully I can extend this if washed often. The power draw is 3 to 35 watts, which is pretty low. For my location (35 cent / KWh) that works out from 76 cents to $8.82 a month. The low setting is less then the cost to charge my phone..lol.

This is a simple easy to use and setup. Nothing complex and push a button to go into Automatic mode. I setup in our bedroom to test the noise and it is whisper quite on auto when nothing is in the air, and ramps up slowly where particles get it. Seems to work well and is great and keeping the particles down. Doesn't seem hard to maintain and easy enough to move around. Even with the fan going, it isn't horrible loud and works well.

Worked good for 7 days and then the fan stopped working and would not turn on any speed. For the price I expected more than a cheap fan sitting on top of a filter. That’s all this unit is. Look elsewhere!

My family got another, larger Blueair purifier for the main floor of our house and then decided to grab this one for the smaller downstairs. It’s a great size, has a very modern look and it’s been fantastic at helping move some air along in a laundry room that also has a cat litter box.
This may be the case with most air purifiers, but if you’ve ever plugged anything into a wall outlet before in your life then you can operate the Blueair. The process couldn’t be any easier and it’s an extremely quiet device while running.
The only thing that may be of an occasional annoyance is that you can’t easily tell that it’s on at times if you’re not literally right beside it and can hear the fans. The indicator light on the front is tiny - and this may very well be a much welcomed benefit if you’re planning on using this in a room where you sleep and don’t want your room lit up like a Christmas tree. Otherwise, you may feel the urge to press the big power button when it’s already on. Not a huge deal, by any means, just worth mentioning.
Would absolutely get this again.

This unit looks good, runs quietly, and only took a few minutes to set up. It was literally a matter of pulling it out of the box, plugging it in, and pushing one button. It cycled through the particle test and now it just quietly sits there and does it's thing. The air in the room is very clear and I have had zero allergy issues since we put it in the house.
There is also a subscription for regular filter delivery, which is nice.
We had used a few single room air purifiers previously and they were somewhat noisy and not that visually appealing. This unit blended right into the background of the room we set it up in, color scheme matched to the house and the shape of the unit is such that it doesn't standout or look odd.
This is a very quiet and unobtrusive air purifier and I would recommend it. Do make sure you get the correct size of model for your house/room though. I suspect the fan speed will affect the noise level and if you get a smaller unit, it may give a bit of noise.

Never had one before but recently got diagnosed with some allergies to dust and cedar trees so figured I try this.
Some observations:
It is big but light
It should not be too close to walls that or items at least 4” away from things
Extremely easy to use no fancy digital displays or setup process just red yellow and blue lights.
Easy to clean.
The other day I was cooking fish in the kitchen which is far away from where we keep this (bedroom) and it was going full blast and showing red. So that is great that it works so well and automatically.
I love it because I set it on auto and weekly I clean it which is no issue.
Highly recommend this especially if you suffer from allergies it can’t hurt!
