It was the larger model and I really like it. It's still running on my first floor. So when I wanted another unit for my bedroom, I thought the smaller unit would be a safe choice. Instead, as soon as I plugged it in, it spewed out an awful odor. I immediately called customer service and they said I'd have to let it run a couple days to clear out the odor. (I asked why don't THEY run it a couple days to clear out the odor before shipping it?) But I gave it a second chance and let the unit run in a spare bedroom for three days. Well unit is still blowing stinky air - and now I have two room that smell. I called back customer service at noon on a weekday. A recording said they were closed for lunch and to try back later. So I called at 1:45 and their message had changed. It now said "We're closed. Try emailing us." Needless to say, I will be returning unit.

Posted .Many new products release a new smell upon opening and using right out of the box. This is also true for filter media. Filter fibers can absorb a smell from other materials during the packaging process. This smell and all components involved during our filter production are harmless and non-toxic. This newness smell should move through and out of the filter within 48 hours of use. We would be happy to provide a filter free of charge to assist with the issue.
