There's no series of menus to navigate. You just put on the external filter, plug it in, and select what speed you want the fan to run by tapping the power button. The internal filter is already installed and ready for use. I love how simple and easy it was to get going. If you're going to be buying one for a family member who isn't into tech, they'll have no problems setting this up on their own. == Operation == The purifier has three fan speeds: low, medium, and high. Right now in the winter, I'll be keeping it on low, which is great considering that this can get louder than I originally expected. On medium speed, it sounds like a small-ish countertop fan, but would bug me if I was using it in my bedroom when trying to fall asleep. I keep it in the family play room, so running on medium later this spring+summer won't be an issue. The internal filter is rated for 6 months, so be sure to set a reminder in your phone so you can buy a new filter ahead of time. The exterior filter is primarily for catching larger items, such as hair and dust. It's VERY easy to take off and put on, and you can toss it in with the laundry to clean it. == Bottom Line == I really like having the Blue Pure 411+ in the playroom, it's not too loud and has a relatively small footprint (it's tall, but not very wide). The two-tone design looks very nice as well, plus you can buy other exterior filters in different colors if you want to change things up later.

It is a great filter overall. Cleans the air well and is super quiet. My only compliant that the light is really bright and kept me up. I found a cover which has made a big difference.

Bought this for my parents. They live in a passive-solar house. They use a wood burning stove for heat in the winter. Even though the stove is very efficient, this was bought to help remove any dust particles. So far, it has done a wonderful job! We love how quiet the lowest setting is! You can hardly tell it is on!

The Blue Air 411 has a great design and love the prefilter. There are various color options available on the internet and they are very pretty. Size is just perfect and looks really elegant in the side of my bedroom. I tried closing the door and turning it on for about 8 hours and I could really feel the difference. J have a dog as well and the air quality after about 8 hours was really fresh and clean. It is super sensitive to changes in the air, which makes me feel good about how well it works. The Blue Air is really quiet and seems to keep the air in the room clean. We haven't had a problem with the smell since we got it. I would have certainly loved a remote for this product that would have made this 100% perfect. Nevertheless, I love the feather touch button to turn three levels of fan speed. I would definitely recommend this to my friends!

I bought the larger blueair pure 211 plus for my kitchen & family room area. I was so impressed that I bought this smaller blueair pure 411 plus for my bedroom on a different floor. I no longer get congested when I sleep. I no longer take Allegra every morning since buying these 2 air purifiers. I highly recommend them.

Good choice. Simple to use. It's pretty quiet even at the highest speed. So far it has been working well without any issues. We live in a high allergy area with wildfire smoke added a large portion of the year, so to have clear air in the house is very good thing.

Extremely helpful for the terrible fire season we are having in California. We own a 100 year old home with original window so the air comes in & this makes a world of difference. Also, its small & unobtrusive. I have it on our dresser.

The Blue Pure 411+ air filter is the second air filter I’ve had, but the first unit from this company. One thing I noticed right away was how quiet the Blue filter was compared to my other filter which claimed to be “quiet enough to run while sleeping” but in reality this Blue filter on medium speed was about the same noise as my old filter is on low. That being said, I also noticed, as others have said, that although the low setting is extremely quiet, the noise level after switching to medium is a large jump. This means you can’t really slowly ramp up, it’s either very low, or pretty high fan speeds. I do like how quiet the Blue Pure filter is on low, but I am unsure how successful that setting is at such a slow and low rate but Blue does say that it still is efficient, even at low levels. I’ve only had the filter for about 3 days but so far I have noticed the low setting does seem to still work pretty well at cleaning the air. We tend to run it on high or medium for most of the time and then switch to low at night. And it is worth noting, the low setting is WHISPER quiet, it really is. How well it works is still not proven to me, but it is definitely very quiet. The unit has 3 filters total that work together to clean the air in a very efficient way and we have noticed our allergy symptoms lessen and a freshness to the room. The outer filter is easily removable and washable and also comes in multiple colors if you want to match a color scheme in your room. We have this unit in a small bedroom that is carpeted and we have a long hair dog that also sleeps in the room every night. But combined with other standard cleaning processes like vacuuming, we have noticed that the air is much cleaner and easier to breath. Other positive things I noticed are less key features but help make the filter a little unique and special. For example, there is a small magnet on the power cord that helps keep the cord run clean down the unit. It’s not necessary but it is a nice feature that shows attention to detail. Another feature that is actually pretty useful for me personally is that even though the control button is a “digital button” (vs a physical analog switch) the filter still remembers and automatically switches to the previous setting after the power is cut to the unit. What this means is if you use a smart plug to turn on and off your filter, the Blue Pure 411+ will automatically turn on to the same setting it was on when the smart switch turned it off or the plug was pulled. This is another feature that shows the engineers thought through these things and adjusted to make the units useful with modern technology. Because of this, we can use a smart switch to turn the filter on a few hours before we go to bed and turn off automatically when we are not in the room. There’s not a lot to complain about this filter but I’ll touch on a few cons maybe worth mentioning that may affect some people's opinion. The unit only has one button that is a touch sensitive button and is a little weak in it’s sensitivity. I found myself mostly just tapping the button over and over until the setting went to what I wanted. Along that line, it’s also worth noting there is no remote or app for this unit so you will need to physically use the button on the unit if you want to make any change to the speed settings. Some may say the low setting is a bit of a con if it isn’t powerful enough to clean the air very well but if you find that being a problem you can still crank up the speed to a level that works for you. Obviously this would be a louder fan though. That said, so far I have not seen any issues or had problems that would make me wish I did not get this unit and in the future we will be looking at Blue filters for other rooms in the house as well. I would recommend this brand and this unit to my friends.

I love how simple and compact this purifier is. My biggest issue with the BlueAir 411 is the cloth sleeve pre-filter, which is a little gross to clean and to keep in place. The photo of this version makes it look like the metal shell replaces the cloth pre-filter, but you're still supposed to put the cloth sleeve around the metal. It does feel sturdier than the regular 411, but doesn't really have any practical advantages as far as I can tell.

Quiet, easy to use, and seems to be cleaning the air in my asthmatic son's room. Recommend trying.

I bought it for my aunts' bedroom, and it seems to work well. Too early to tell long term quality, but there's a notable difference when it's on when I walk in vs when it's off. It's pretty quiet on max.

I’ve been collecting a few Blueair air purifiers for the past few months now (411, 311, and now 411+). I like that these have a large filter to unit size. You are getting a lot of filter to purify with. Sound isn’t an issue - sounds like white noise on a medium or high level and if you place these near doorways which is what I see recommended online, then it should be very nonintrusive. I do like the metal body for this unit - it makes it easier to wrap the pre-filter over and lends some heft in case you accidentally hit it with your foot. Overall, great purchase and I will probably be buying a couple more!

Noted difference in air quality. It works well! Touch buttons are not an issue like many report.

Easy to set up and not noisy. Highest setting not super loud. Medium setting fairly quiet. Lowest setting almost silent.

I'm have allergies and this Blueair purifier works wonders in cleaning the bedroom air. Very happy with it.

I buy this item for my wife who have severe allergy. It help her a lot specially at night. No more clogged nose and she is sleeping now like a baby. The unit is so quite that you may think it is not on. I recommended it to my sister who have allergy problem too.
