Reading that the Blueair 411+ filter removes household odors, pollen, dust, and pet dander, I knew I wanted to put this air purifier in the section of my bedroom that has my dog’s bed, dirty laundry, and doors leading outside. I specifically wanted a quiet air purifier as I’m a light sleeper. I am pleased with the truly quiet operation of the lowest setting and can honestly say it did not disturb my sleep.
I tend to run it on medium speed during the day and quiet or off during the night. The air does smell fresher when it’s on medium or high. The unit is simple to use, it’s pretty much “plug and play”. I mentioned that it’s quiet, which is nice when I want to operate it during the night. My personal experience with this unit is that because it’s moving air, it does cool things down. While I like the air flow, unfortunately for me, cooler temperatures bother my throat in the night. I did some research and while air purifiers don’t change moisture in the air (no evidence of drying air), the movement and temperature of the air does bother me at night.
The one-touch button is my least favorite part of the user experience. The button is not illuminated and it’s not raised at all making it difficult to use in a dark room. The button cycles through the three speed settings, so if it’s on the lowest setting and I want to turn it off, I have to press it 3 times to cycle through to the OFF mode. Sometimes the button isn’t sensitive enough so I have to touch it multiple times for it to register.
The package came with the BLueair 411+, two dark grey pre-filters that are machine washable. The modern design and colors fit in with my room that also has a lot of white, black, and grey.

A quiet air purifier with a modern look

I got this air purifier because our Honeywell air purifier just gave up on us after almost 2 years of use. This is almost at the same price point but the shape and size are what attracted me at first. It looks more modern compared to the Honeywell. It is small cylindrical shaped so air can be filtered from all around. This also has only one button for the fan speed which I’m used to in the Honeywell. But what I like about the Blue Air 411 is it’s quietness, I can barely hear it working at the lowest and medium setting. At the highest setting, the sound of the airflow is little noticeable, I kinda like it because it serves as a white noise machine for me as well. We use the unit in our small bedroom and my toddler sleeps well when this is turned on. No more sneezing. I also like that the prefilter is washable, but it also comes with two pre-filters, that’s one less thing to buy. We have no pets but the room tends to get dusty easily so I had to wash the filter twice already since having it. I suffer from seasonal allergies so the true test will be when spring comes. I hope this unit will last longer than my previous air purifiers. So far it works as expected.

I like this air purifier expect the main or last speed is little louder than I expected and had to turn the tv volume up. I notice the different if I have it at low or high. Went and bought another one else where for the office.

This air filtration system has significantly decreased the amount of dust in my room. It's easy to clean the cover filter and the purifier still puts in work without it. I am very pleased with the purchase

Great Air Purifier

My wife is listed as terminal due to severe COPD, we have a hospital bed set up in our living room and we utilize multiple air purifiers to assist with controlling some of the dust and pet hair/dander.
We have a couple top brand air purifiers that work well. They have, permanent, washable, filters and prefilters. These air purifiers draw air in from the rear and expel the filtered air out the front of the unit. We, along with guests, have complained about the cold air blowing out from the front air vents on these air purifiers. We do not use the oscillate feature on these units due to this issue and we have the units facing away from all the sitting areas. With the filtered air blowing out the front of these units, any dog hair and dust in front of the units are blown around the room.
The Blueair 411+ draws air from 360 degrees around the sides of the entire unit and expel the filtered air out the top. I would assume that with the Blueair 411+ gathering dust and pet hair from all around the air purifier, this makes it more efficient. Blowing the filtered air upward it is not blowing any debris around the floor of the room.
The filter and the pre-filter (if you chose to use the pre-filter) for the Blueair 411+ are not expensive, the filters are easy to replace, and appear to filter the air very well. The cloth pre-filter, which pulls up over the exterior of the main unit like a sock without the foot, does a great job of gathering dog hair and larger particles. The pre-filter can be vacuumed off occasionally and washed in the washing machine when needed. I will purchase another pre-filter so I can remove one and replace it immediately. This way I can wash the one I removed and have it ready for the next exchange.
The noise level is minimal, we have the Blueair 411+ approximately 3 feet from my wife’s hospital bed and she states she does not notice the sound. The air control is 1, 2, or 3. On 1 or 2 the noise level is extremely low, on 3, if you are standing by the Blueair 411+ you will hear the fan however it is minimal also.
I believe the air drawing from 360 degrees around the Blueair 411+ and expelling the filtered air upward makes the unit more efficient than our other air purifiers. The dust gathering on the pre-filter tells us that the Blueair 411+ is doing a great job of filtering air. We vacuum off the pre-filter daily.

This is more powerful than the 411 and covers more space. Just like the regular 411, I love it. So glad to have these air purifiers in my home.

Cleans Air Silently

Because of Seasonal (And Dust) Allergies, I have owned a few air filters over the last decade, and they all seemed to help with reducing symptoms. When set on low, this Blueair Pure 411+ is the quietest air filter I've ever owned. I don’t really hear it running at all on low, but I can feel the air flowing smoothly. (You can hear the fan at higher settings, but I don't anticipate continually needing it on a high setting). After running maybe 30-45 minutes, I can honestly say I thought the air 'smelled' cleaner. I did place this in a relatively small room, probably under 150 sq. ft., which makes this model feel like a good match for room size, though admittedly typically I don't keep the door closed and don't know how that will affect operation. The pre-filter is an interesting concept, it seems to go over the outside of the unit, and I gather there are color options for replacements. From what I understand, the pre-filter is also washable, but like anything, I'm guessing It needs to be replaced periodically. According to the manual, the main (internal) filter lasts about 6 months, and it says there is an indicator somewhere which should let you know when to replace it (during my testing, I did not run it for anywhere near 6 months, so I did not see the indicator mentioned in the manual). I looked up the filter pricing, and the replacement filter Is very reasonably priced compared to others that I have owned.

This is my first air filter, so I was not sure what to expect. The unit is a nice size, smaller than I was thinking it was, and looks fairly good. I had no trouble placing it in my bedroom (which is also my office these days). It fit in style-wise and did not take up much space.
Setup is very simple. More or less get the filters situated, plug it in, and choose your speed control. That is it.
I was worried about noise, and at the highest setting, it is pretty loud, but the other settings are quite reasonable. The lowest setting is actually quiet. Despite my concerns, this is a non-issue for me. If anything, I kind of appreciate the low white noise in the background. My only other concern going in was, “would it work?” I don’t have any quantifiable data, but I would say yes. Any smells, from either in or out seem to dissipate more quickly, the air seems fresher, and I have been congested less. Taking a peek at the filters has shown they are catching things. All in all, I am pleased.
Filters are suggested to be replaced every 6 months, and replacements are not too expensive, but that will be something to keep an eye on going forward. That said, I don’t expect use or cost to be an issue.
Ultimately, I think this is a good filter. It is a nice size, is not too loud, works well, and is a good value. Given all the time I have spent indoors this year, this filter was a nice find.

I'm a believer

I never really understood the concept of having an air purifier - we are not smokers and don't really use harsh chemicals or anything. BUT... after we moved to another state (and live off a dirt road), I noticed that we have a large amount of dust in the house. I change furnace filters once / month, but there still seems to be a large amount of dust. And the pollen count is higher here than our previous house.
After using the Blue Pure air purifier for just one week, I've noticed that I don't wake up feeling "stuffed up" anymore. I put the purifier in my bedroom and am AMAZED at how quiet it is.
It is easy to change filters and the pre-filter is washable.
The only negative is the on/off/speed button is a little hard to push but since I run it on low 24/7 - it's not an issue.
I am now a believer in air purifiers and this one is high quality!

The Blue Pure 411+ 185 Sq. Ft. Air Purifier is an unobtrusive white cylinder that sits on the floor. We use it in our bedroom and it is quiet enough not to disturb our sleep. The unit consists of two filters; one inside the unit and the other lake a sock that surrounds part of the exterior. The latter removes larger particulates and can be washed on a regular basis. The interior filter can be removed and cleaned when necessary. The unit is easy to setup and is controlled by three fan speed controls on the top.

Our family has been buying air purifiers for several years. This is one of the more unique ones we have used. While it isn’t “smart” like some of the other air purifiers on the market, it is simple to use and works well. The noise is not very noticeable on the “low” setting and is not a big deal if you have it in your main living area or office. Another thing I like about this is you can order new outer fabric covers from Blueair to change the color of your unit to match your decor - very cool!
