This is my 2nd air purifier and I've learned one thing about Air purifiers...the better, the more you don't notice them. The only way you now an air purifier is working is if you're aware of the fact you need one before getting one. With that said, the Blueair - Blue Pure 411a Max 2198 Sq Air Purifier is for sure a set and forget device.
To start, for as big as the Blue Pure 411a, it's very lowkey., Fits right into the background without noticed.
Set up? Pull out the box and plug in. As simple as possible.
When you cut it on using the auto setting? No sound at all. The light in the front of the device will tell you the quality of the air. It's hard to judge the machine's rating exactly....but when my light turned blue it definitely felt a lot clearer in my office. I chose to use my office as the room as I have a cat who lives in that room. Friends who are more sensitive toward cat dander noticed the impact of the pureifier immediately when they came in the room.
Sometimes I cut the fan on high to help keep the room a bit cooler as well. At this point the purifier becomes vocal, but, it is using a high powered fan. I wouldn't say the fan makes the room cold, but it does feel a little less hot then normal (which, can be hot due to my computer and multiple monitors)
I've yet to change the filter, and it says I have some time before I get to trying that out. Outside of that, I'd say the Blueair - Blue Pure 411a Max 219 Sq Ft is a no-brainer must-buy for anyone in search of an air purifier.

When I received this purifier I was pleasantly surprised t how lightweight it was. Unboxing the item took no time at all and the only thing that was holding it in place was two cardboard pieces. This is great because it is less waste. Setting up this purifier was a breeze. It took less than a couple minutes to be able to start using it. This purifier comes with 5 settings, 1, 2, 3, auto and nighttime. I like letting it run all night because it gives a constant cleans all day long. not only is this unit very quiet, the blue lights that are on the top and front of the machine does not bother me when I am asleep. You can't hear it run at all it is so very quiet hitting at 18-46 decibels. The unit was a little bigger than I expected it to be but nonetheless, it is very light. You will not need to replace this filter for 6 months and it will let you know when it is time to replace it with the red indicator button on the front. I suffer from bad allergies and asthma so this purifier will clean just particles, dander, dust mites, and bad odors. Cooking fish this cleaned the air in no time, I would say 15 minutes top, this was very impressive to me. The body is very soft so if you go to move it from one room to another just be careful because it is soft. This purifier is top quality for a space of 219 square feet. I would highly recommend this unit.

The Blueair Blue Pure 411a isn't the first Blueair product in my home. I have a larger unit in my bedroom that has served me well for the last several years. Only real maintenance is changing out the filter once a year and it has done a fantastic job keeping my allergies under control. When the opportunity came up to try the new Blue Pure 411a I jumped at the possibility of placing a unit in my home office. I have been using it for about a week now and I have started to notice the difference. I am saddled with terrible allergies and taking medication for it. Even then I found myself sniffling all day long. The Blueair Pure 411a has done an exceptional job in my 150 sq ft office. I spend most of my day there and find I am not suffering as severely from my sinus issues and watery eyes. It seems to be making a real, honest difference.
The reason I am docking it a star is due to the lack of feedback from the unit. My larger unit operates through the Blueair app and provides details about the air quality, as well as, the status of the onboard HEPA filter. The smaller 411a does not connect to the app which is a disappointment. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a quality of life feature I do miss.
The unit has one button and six lights showing the fan speed, mode, and general cleaning status. The unit is attractive and fairly compact and I am running it in auto mode which is very quiet. Overall, the filter does a great job at its core task.... filtering. Blueair makes solid, dependable products and I have no qualms recommending them. If you have a relatively small room in need of improved air quality put the Blue Pure 411a on your short list.

Overall
I've had a variety of air filtration units over the years. Blueair has been one of those, at least to me, that outshines the rest. With it's elegantly crafted designs that are visually appealing in most environments. This ones no exception. But unlike any of my prior units, this one had no extra bells and whistles such as additional software or extra filters.
Performance
I've never been one to be troubled by dust, pollen, or any airborne particles to use as a basis for my review. Nor do I believe my home to be a large source of dust particles (we have an indoor Chihuahua and area rugs). That said, without much in terms of filters throughout the house, besides the filtration the HVAC unit provides, there is bound to be some particles looming in the air. Ranging from dust, pathogens, smoke, and spore particles.
Operation is simple with this unit. With only 2 buttons, a single press will cycle speeds, auto, night, and off. A combination of the 2 will set child locks and change the brightness of the LEDs. Using the auto function, the filter decides a speed on its own based on how contaminated your space may be. However, unlike other models, primarily those with app functions. This unit's auto function never activates the sleep function just. Speed modes low and medium are literally silent. Your furniture (moving your dining chairs or sitting on the couch) will likely be louder than those 2 speeds. High on the other hand, is loud! Roughly as loud as your air fryer or perhaps a gaming desktop.
According to the manufacturer, the filters will last you between 6 to 9 months. Based on past experience with a different Blueair product, they've gone up to or about 12 months before needing a change. The filter itself will tell you it needs maintenance with its LED.
The 411a Max uses a 2 stage filtration system. A cloth filter material surrounds the body of the device, this ones washable. While internally, a wavy fiber core filter. This ones finite, OE replacements from Blueair run $29.99. It's an activated carbon filter so this makes it a good option for spaces with odd smells such as laundry rooms.
Conclusion
This unit is beautiful, much like every other Blueair product I've had/seen. Filtration is fast and effective. Operation is incredibly simple with a single button to work with. Auto mode makes things even simpler. The design gives it 360° of filtration. Its an overall fantastic filter for smaller rooms.
This is worth 5-stars.

The Blueair - Blue Pure 411a Max HEPASilent Small Room / Bedroom Air Purifier is a great air purifier that was very easy to setup and begin using right out of the box.
Everything nowadays seems to unnecessarily be trending towards being “smart-enabled” but I was happy to see that this Blueair Blue Pure 411a Max air purifier is not one of those products. This particular air purifier did not require the use of any sort of app for setup nor does it require one to keep track of the usual maintenance that is typically required for these types of products such as when it is necessary to replace the HEPA filter.
Instead of dealing with an app and trying to connect the unit to WiFi, literally all you have to do is unbox the product and plug it in. I still took my time to review the included user manual before plugging it in just to make sure I understood how it operates and how to access the HEPA filter when it comes time to replace it. I also wanted to make sure there was no additional packaging on the HEPA filter which I can confirm was not the case which is why you can simply unbox the product and plug it right in. Once you do this, the easiest thing to do is simply switch the air purifier to “Auto” mode which in my opinion is the most ideal mode since it does everything for you. There is no need to adjust fan speed or anything like that because it senses the quality of the air and adjusts itself accordingly. Then, if you are using the unit in a bedroom, you can either enable night mode which runs the purifier at the lowest fan speed setting while also dimming the lights to their lowest setting, or you can leave it on auto mode and manually adjust the light setting by following the instructions in the user manual. Either way, it runs very quietly while seemingly doing a great job of cleaning the air.
One of the other things I really like about this air purifier is the washable fabric pre-filter it comes with. This is a great design and makes it easy to keep the unit clean as well as helping extend the life of the inner HEPA filter.
Overall, the Blueair - Blue Pure 411a Max HEPASilent Small Room / Bedroom Air Purifier is an incredible air purifier for smaller areas like a bedroom and I highly recommend it!

My first impression after pulling it out of the box was that it looked like a giant Google Home speaker. And that’s a compliment—it’s a simple, elegant design and I really like how it looks. There is no WiFi connectivity and no remote, just two simple buttons on the top to control it. One is the power button, and the other toggles through the fan speeds. If you don’t need to activate the child lock or adjust the brightness, then there’s no need to even learn the long press combinations of the two buttons. Then there’s one small colored light on the front to indicate the sensed air quality.
The recommended fan speed setting is to just put it on auto. That way if it detects a wave of particles coming in, it’ll increase the fan speed until it clears them back to normal. On the night setting, the fan is completely inaudible (though you can still feel a little air flow from the top) and the air quality light is shut off. With fan speed setting 1, you can just barely hear the fan, 2 becomes more noticeable, and then 3 is loud and gets your attention. Unless there is a sudden cloud of dust or smoke in your room, I expect most of the time it’ll be running at level 1 or below. This will also make your filter last longer.
The specs say the filter life is 9 months. It appears that replacement filters are currently about $24. The filters are “dual filtration” but the filter looks like it has a very thin layer of activated carbon for the VOC filtering. Other, more expensive, air purifiers use a much bigger carbon filter so you may want to keep that in mind. It seems like this model is primarily for filtering small particles like dust, pollen, and smoke which are most of the pollutants in my environment.
The purifier comes with a 3-year warranty. One spec said that it uses 20W of power, but I couldn’t find details for what fan setting that was on. Also, on the Best Buy specs page, (as of today, at least) it mentions a programmable timer, but I see nothing in the user manual about that.

I'd like to start by saying that his is our 3rd Blueair air purifier. They are a bit on the expensive side, but they work very well. This little Blue Pure 411a does not disappoint.
I put this unit in a smaller 178 sq.ft. room. I must say that I actually notice a lot less dust in the room. I'd like to add that our Golden Retriever sleeps in this room too. Very impressive. The air purifier has four fan speeds, an auto mode, and a night mode. It also has a five-color air quality indicator that shows the current air quality in the room. I set to auto mode and it's definitely doing its job at filtering pollen, dust and pet dander from the air.
Other than the post important feature, cleaning the air, this little air purifier looks cute too. Not thought I'd say that about an air purifier. Another great feature is that it's quiet. On auto mode, I have yet to hear it increase the fan speed. Even on the highest setting, 3, it's not really that loud. You can definitely hear the fan, but I think it would serve as great white noise.
I'd definitely recommend the Blueair Blue Pure 411a. It's a good choice for someone who is looking for an effective, quiet, and easy-to-use air purifier for small rooms.

I got this air purifier to help keep the air in my kitchen clean and it has not disappointed. I keep this on my kitchen island near my stove and although it’s a bit bigger than I was expecting, it still sits in the room nicely.
I cook a lot of Asian dishes and I always hated the oily smell in the air after I’m done cooking but since I’ve had this filter it’s no longer a problem!! I can cook for up to 20 people at a time and it’s not uncommon for me stir/deep frying for 2+ hours and this filter has no trouble at all keeping up. Once I’m done cooking and cleaning it only takes about 7 minutes for the oily smell to disappear…that’s amazing considering it used to take hours of not overnight for it to clear.
Set up is straightforward and the same for the companion app (you’ve set one up, you’ve set them all up am I right?!). You can hear the fan when it turns on but it’s not noisy at all but it’s not whisper quiet either. It’s hard to describe but I think it’s a good balance of sound…loud enough to tell you it’s working but not loud enough to distract you from everything else that’s going on.
I also like the air quality light that gives you a good visual on of the air is clean/dirty and of course it’s HEPA certified. This has been especially nice since it’s spring and the pollening is going on
They say the filter is good for about 9 months but I expect it to run out sooner since mines working in a kitchen, hopefully I’ll get about 6 mos out of it.

If you are looking for a room air purifier that is quiet, stylish, and simple to use, the Blueair Blue Pure 411a Max is the answer. Its Swedish design makes it an attractive addition to any room, with a gray tweed-like cover that acts as the first stage of air filtration and it’s washable. Even the small brown leather Blueair label tag on the cover’s seam is a nice touch. The creamy white plastic grill feels solid and looks great as well. Controls are simple with a two-button setup, one for power and the center button is a toggle that controls fan speeds, as well as an auto and night mode settings. Night mode is whisper quiet and lights are either dimmed or turned off to prevent annoying lights in the room while you are trying to sleep. Only the two higher fan speeds are audible, and the top speed will quickly filter the room air as needed. I really appreciate the fact that there are no remotes to lose, and no smartphone required to operate the 411a Max. It has neither option, which is something I prefer. I have enough home apps cluttering up my iPhone. Blueair improved the filter life in their latest air purifiers to 9 months, making it more economical over the long run. I have the air purifier in my small bedroom and I can tell the air seems fresher and it’s nice to help reduce the amount of dust that seems to settle everywhere. It's simple perfect.

The Blueair - Blue Pure 411a Max 219 Sq. Ft HEPA Silent Small Room Bedroom Air Purifier was actually a surprise when I unboxed and checked it out. I thought it was pretty innovative to basically use the filter as the body of the air filter. Plus the fabric cover is actually a pre-filter that can be washed. I suspect keeping the pre-filter clean regularly would extend the life of the actual filter.
Simple to use, just plug it in and turn it on, choose fan speed/mode options of auto, moon/night time, one, two, three. The moon/night time option is the "silent" mode. One, ,two, and three mode was not overly intrusive on your sleep. No louder than a ceiling fan. I set ours on Auto and basically it runs on silent/moon mode. We live with three dogs and sometimes they spend time in the bedroom and it actually clears their smell/odor away. So far, so good, the filter light is in the blue so filter is still good.
Blueair makes some nice air purifiers, this is our second Blueair purifier, the other one is bigger and takes care of the living room.
Pro is quiet/minimal noise, ease of use, washable pre-filter cover, filter is the body of the unit!

Cleaner Air in Style

I use this product in our bedroom in order to clean the air while we sleep. I have used other air cleaners but have found this one to be the best so far.
First, it looks good. It’s not a sterile looking device. It’s design is modern and fits in to most modern rooms. It stands about 2ft tall so it’s not terribly small but also shouldn’t get in the way. Set up was a breeze and I had it running in less than 5 minutes.
As far as features it’s fairly basic but that’s ok. For sound you can make it whisper quiet or have it louder if you like the background noise. I like to sleep with the background noise and this device will cover that without being too loud.
This does connect to the Blueair app that allows you to see and control many aspects of the device. The app will let you monitor filter health, set different modes and schedules and also has geofencing to adjust as you enter and leave the space. Another nice app feature it it will show particulate levels so you can see if the air became more dirty.
Overall this is a great purifier and I would recommend d it.

The little dynamo!

As a pet owner, of two Pomeranian puppies, and three adult felines, I have a focus on keeping our house clean as well as smelling, well at least neutral. And so I got this air purifier to move around the house, as needed, to help dispel some of the more pungent odors. Our cats, on occasion, will go to the bathroom around their litter box, instead of in it, and so the first place I put this was in the cat bathroom and it did help quite a bit. While it's true it cannot eliminate every odor, for example if the cat has recently gone to the bathroom you still have to clean it up before the odor can be controlled, it fought admirably to keep the really nasty odors to a more manageable non-odor'ish smell.
When the area is cleaned up and you cook or, in some other way, create smells, this thing will do a fantastic job of cleaning the air so that the smell goes away. This is also a good unit to have as a general household odor air purifier, that you move to the area in which you would like it to function. The unit itself is very light and easily moved from place to place. It has an auto-function, which works well, to adjust up and down as needed.
About the only issue I have with this air purifier, is an issue that applies to most but the very, most expensive purifiers, and that is that it really does not tell you the air health in any way to know truly what has been cleaned and, or, how bad the air may still be. For that you will require a specific type of hardware that shows you air content. For me it is my Dyson Air Purifier/Fan which shows me the air health quality and does so in pretty good detail.
If you really want to know if the air is being cleaned, rather than just smelling and/or feeling how well it has done, I mean hard data, you are going to need that piece of hardware to determine air quality. But this is something most air purifiers do not have so I did not remove a star, but I feel that most folks should know this about this air purifier.
It does a great job, that's why we call it the little dynamo! A good purchase for spot areas such as bathrooms or smelly kitchens. It looks great as well!

Noticeably less dust in my room

I figured I could get some use out of this air filter because my bedroom has had severe issues with dust for quite a while. Like, I'll dust off my entertainment center and it'll be fuzzy again in two days or so. I've had to take apart my bedroom fan because it's so clogged with dust it looks like it's alive, and my vacuum filter constantly needs unclogging.
Plugging this in and turning it on immediately solved the problem. I don't even have it on high, it's just on the lowest setting; but it still noticeably helped. I stopped sneezing as much, and the dust buildup basically stopped.
On top of how wonderfully effective it is, it's pretty unobtrusive. It's quieter than my fan, only noticeable when all else in the room is dead silent, and the little LED on the front is dim enough that it doesn't disturb my sleep. It just sits there, quietly doing its job, and once I found a place to put it I actually forgot it was there for a bit. Admittedly it's the size of an entire end table so if you're pressed for space it may be a bit difficult to find somewhere but I just stuck it on top of my mini fridge and it worked fine.
So, yeah. If you live in apartment with bad air and you don't have access to change the filter yourself this is probably one of the best things you can buy. I absolutely love this thing.

Large and fussy, but competent
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I suppose it's entirely my own fault for not checking the actual product dimensions more carefully, but - at about 19" tall with a roughly 10" diameter footprint - the device is significantly larger than what I had been expecting for something advertised and described in multiple places and ways as for "small spaces." Bear that in mind if you're getting this for use on or under a desk or table, or anywhere space is at a premium. At least it's likely too large for any cat smaller than a Maine coon to push off any elevated flat surface?
Another HUGE problem that was not advertised upfront - and I therefore absolutely need to point out here - is that the instruction manual pointedly specifies that it should not be plugged into a power strip or extension cord, with no further technical guidance or explanation on the matter. Like, I can see not using one of the crummy $8 GE[neric] power strips from Big Box Store Red or Big Box Store Blue, but one would think that my $120 Monster home theater surge protector or $250+ APC computer UPS should be acceptable? I reached out to the company's tech support people via email for clarification on this shortly after I received the product several days ago, and never heard back. I have a total of 2 outlet pairs in the room in which I originally intended to set it up, with over a half-dozen devices and floor/table lamps needing to be plugged into each that I really can't "swap around" for various reasons of spacial arrangements or technological needs of the objects themselves. One of those pairs is right next to a heating vent (also expressly contraindicated by the manual), and one outlet of the other pair is literally hard-wired to my ethernet connection. I basically have no way to put it where I originally wanted to, and this would absolutely be a colossal deal-breaker for me if I had it to do over again.
I feel like a lot of fuss in the manufacturer's ad copy has been devoted to its "design" and/or "style," which is frankly kind of irrelevant to me. I'm very much NOT a fan of so-called "modern" design (or the mid-century 1950s/60s style which seems to serve as cultural touchstone and heavy influence for much of it), and I personally feel it looks a little stupid on that count, but I really wouldn't care if it looked like a Pontiac Aztek as long as it did what it claimed to do and performed well. That said, I do love its eminently sensible, no frills user-interface: one power button, one button to cycle through fan speed options. Elegance in simplicity. I give it absolute top marks on this. Mechanically, I obviously haven't had to look into replacing/cleaning the filter after only about [arrived Thursday PM 5/11, so (6 Wednesday) (7 Thursday) (8 Friday) (9 Saturday)] days of use in a relatively clean environment, but it seemed reasonably straightforward based on my cursory inspection of the internals and reading of the manual upon setting it up.
I have no means of objectively verifying its purification performance, but the built-in 5-color air quality particle meter (a pretty cool feature, I must say) broadly tracks with my preconceived notions of the air quality in the room in which it ended up getting set up. The air coming out smells nice and clean, at least? I was, however, able to verify the manufacturer's claims as to the noise levels with a decibel meter phone app, and I am impressed to confirm that the lowest setting is virtually silent to my ear at around 20 dB - significantly quieter than the (fairly unobtrusive) fans for my computer that run between 25 and 35 dB depending on CPU or GPU load. Each successive setting increases the noise by around 10-15 dB, such that the maximum actually does top out at around 45 dB as they claim. Many people may not have a frame of reference for these numbers, but my meter app provides some handy reference comparisons for 20 dB as "rustling leaves, ticking watch," 30 dB as "quiet whisper at 3 ft., library," 40 dB as "quiet residential area, park," and 50 dB as "quiet office, quiet street." It's worth noting that this 40-50 interval for the top setting is actually surprisingly loud, but I suppose is still only a fraction as loud as a typical floor fan that I would speculate is likely in the 60-70 dB ballpark.
Bottom line? While I'm reasonably happy with it in the end, and it seems to be a well-made product, I'm more than a little annoyed that I couldn't put it in the room I wanted to over a very nebulous potential electrical safety concern. It's also still surprisingly big. If those specific caveats aren't important for you? Then hey, this is a marvelously high-quality product for an entry-level air purifier.

A Responsible Way to Clean Air!

What makes the Blue Pure 411a Max an incredible air filter? – many things! For example it has a washable pre-filter which is a very smart way to cut down on dead waste filters (eco-friendly and budget responsible). It includes proprietary HEPASilent™ technology, which combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration capturing at least 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.1 micron in size. In addition the Blue Pure 411i Max operates on low at 18dB sound level, and is never louder than 46dB (not jet airplanes taking off in you room). The new filters (6-9 months) are longer lasting. Using Blueair's new proprietary RealTrack algorithm, you can easily view the most accurate filter usage and reorder before it expires. The Blue Pure 411a Max uses advanced machine learning to adjust its calculations based on its unique environment, it takes into account factors like fan speed, usage time and pollutant levels.
Remember the pre-filters extend the life of the primary filters, by catching large airborne particles such as dust, lint, pollen, and pet hair.
So – quiet, low maintenance and cost effective along with good looks make this a great addition to a healthy environment.

Air Purifier that works and looks good

I know most people are more familiar with the other brand when it comes to households and air purification but Blueair is very stylish and possibly even better. First of all, if you're just looking at it from pictures, it seems very small but it is about as tall as your couch. The color can be changed depending on your setup but it is not included in the box.
How it works:
The air purification light is helpful. I was cooking and some stuff ended up being burnt so the light from the air purifier went from blue to green indicating that the air quality has gone down and after a while, it went back to blue. I want to add that the smell went away almost immediately as well.
Inside is very basic and empty. It kind of looks like the inside of a vacuum cleaner. I feel like they possibly could have made a smaller version but opted for a larger one instead. Replacing the filter is very easy though. Just remove the lid and you have easy access. It's also very light. It might be an issue trying to find a place for it in your home because of its size, but overall, it's a very aesthetically pleasing product and it works great.

The Blueair Blue Pure 411a Max has a footprint of 10.6 inches circular and 18.9 inches tall. The fan noise is rated between 18 decibels at the low end and 46 decibels at the high end. The air purifier comes intact but separates into 4 pieces, the fan motor, the noise shield, the filter and the prefilter. The prefilter is a cloth that wraps around the filter and the noise reducer.
On the fan motor are the controls. This is a 2-button set-up, one for power and another for fan speed. These buttons also control the brightness of the led lights, filter reset, child lock and factory reset. Following the instructions, the lights can be adjusted to a brightness level of your choice. Resetting the Red replace filter light is also completed by use of the 2-buttons. The Child lock disengages the fan speed button. Changing the filter is easily completed by disassembling the filter from the unit and removing the prefilter. The prefilter can be cleaned by either vacuuming with a soft brush attachment or washing in a washing machine following the care instruction on the prefilter. Additional prefilters in different colors are available from the Blueair website. There is a card enclosed with the purifier to sign up for automatic replacement filters shipped at a discount.

Very quiet machine on low setting. It has replaced a different air cleaner that was not as quiet as this unit by a long shot. There wasn't much difference as far air quality is concerned, so time will tell. I am going to assume that I need to make a schedule to remove and clean the outer filter on a regular basis seeming as though it is fairly thick and not very noticeable as far as dust build up on it is concerned.
I do appreciate the sensor that allows me to put it on automatic and it will adjust the speed of the fan accordingly. I fried some bacon and the sensor picked up the change in the air and turned it up on high. Mind you the unit was four rooms away roughly 400ft away from the kitchen. So I'd say it works pretty good.
Would I recommend buying this unit... Yes I would. I would recommend getting on the program when they put you on a schedule to deliver the filters so you don't have to wait until the last minute to replace the filter if you rely on this to keep your air clean.
