We own 3 Blue Air purifiers at present. Find them attractive, quiet, efficient, and sized just right for our smaller bedrooms. Guests remark that they feel these purifiers freshen up the air and help them sleep more peacefully. They are also easy to set up, operate and move around. Plan to gift some of our family members with pets with this great product in yhe future.

This air filter is well made, and actually looks quite nice. It is not too big or bulky, and blends in any area easily. It is listed as being able to clean a large room - up to a 920 square feet - in 1 hour. I placed it in a smaller room of about 150 square feet, and ran the machine on medium setting. The fan is whisper quiet – even on high setting – and on low or medium settings, it is hardly audible. There is a Blue Air app which allows you to monitor air quality, scheduling, filter tracking, and many other features that can be customized. The unit can be easily disassembled for cleaning and / or filter replacement. The outer per-filter can be washed and reused. The inner main filter seems quite large with many pleats, and should last quite a long time – of course depending on room size, and level of particulate matter in the air. It is rated to “remove at least 99.97% of tiny airborne particles like viruses and smoke down to 0.1 microns, and capture pet dander, pollen, mold, allergen and dust”. It worked well removing dust and dander from the room I used it in. It was also listed as being able to trap light household odors from smoke, pets and cooking. Again, in the room where I was testing we also used as a “sleeping” room for two cats. On this, even with the charcoal filter, the unit fell short. After running all night, I didn't notice much of a difference in the pet odor in the room in the morning. For a cleaner environment, and the ability to remove dust, particulate matter, and even viruses, this might be a good choice. For this purpose, I would recommend. As far as odor removal, this doesn't seem to be highly effective.

    Save me from the stench!

True story: I had a piece of furniture delivered by a two-man crew. One of the men must have showered in cologne that morning. The overpowering stench of the man was vomit-inducing. Within seconds of his arrival this purifier (which has been practically silent since its installation) kicked into max fan speed and wasted no time attempting to clear the air of the putrid odor this man brought with him. The man was in the house for less than 10 minutes but his scent would persist for the next hour as this little purifier worked its butt off. I have several other Blueair filters in other rooms in the home and all of them experienced this same effect. In fact in the four years of using Blueair products in the home this was the first (and hopefully the only) time that the Blueair app recorded a red Very Polluted line on the air quality chart. It was rough going for an hour but in the end this purifier cleaned up the mess. I was curious how this unit would do with popcorn. I recently completed a home theater installation and the bar area has a popcorn machine. I moved the filter into the bar area and I made my usual batch. Within seconds of the oil hitting the pan the purifier kicked into full speed. While the fan at level 1 and 2 is mostly silent, level 3 is loud. Twenty minutes of this thing running at full speed was getting in the way of the film. While the unit did filter the air and the bar did not smell like popcorn for long, we decided a larger Blueair was a better choice for this specific use case. With the unit back in its original room I’ve enjoyed a virtually silent experience and the peace of mind of breathing filtered air.

    Excellent, yet Simple

As someone who owns another Blueair air purifier, I had a good understanding of what to expect going into this. The 511i Max is a solid performer for any air purifier in its class. It's difficult to review products like this in depth when they're so simple and effective, but regardless, this unit has a lot of positive aspects... It's also a pleasant reminder that the best products are the ones that do their job silently and efficiently. The 511i Max is controlled best through the Blueair app. I know some folks might not enjoy that aspect of this product, but I would recommend using it over the on-device controls. The app lets you see how many particles are in the air, you can set the fan speed, the LED light brightness, and also set up automations and timers for your air filter. For a set-it-and-forget-it solution, I recommend leaving the air filter in Auto mode and letting it run whenever it needs to. You can connect your Blueair Blue Max i-series air purifier with Google Assistant or Alexa for voice control. You'll also have the ability to change device settings without opening the Blueair app, which I'm sure is a welcome feature for many smart homes our there. The air filter performs wonderfully. When I first set it up in one of my bedrooms, it was so quiet that I was worried it wasn't running yet. Believe it or not, the device was running on its lowest fan speed. Later in the week when I grilled hamburgers indoors, some smoke and airborne food particles made their way to the bedroom. The 511i Max immediately kicked into full strength filtering and got the smokey food smell out of the room within a few minutes. I can't ask for anything better than that. The adaptive air filtering is top notch, the filters are overall quite long lasting, and having clean air in your home is so good for your health. Personally, I plan to pick up one more of these air filters for the last bedroom in the house. These air filters are wonderful and highly recommended by me.

Stylish Air Purifier with App Integration

The Blue Pure Air 511i is yet another winning air purifier from a brand that I really like. Blueair makes some of my favorite air purifiers. They tend to be stylish, quiet, and perform well. The Blue Pure Air 511i Max is no exception. From the pre-filter to Wi-Fi connectivity, nearly everything about the experience is first rate. Setup: Thankfully, the purifier comes ready to use out of the box. The unit is comprised of a base and a twist on top with the fan unit and controls. The prefilter and filter attach to the base of the unit. You can purchase replacement pre-filters of assorted colors to match your specific room’s aesthetic. Replacement pre-filters run around $9 at the time of this review and replacement filters are about $29.99 although there are specialty filters for allergens and smoke that run a bit more. Wi-fi connectivity is easy to set up. You need the Blueair app, but the app will walk you through connecting the purifier to your Wi-Fi network. Experience: The purifier is stylish and quiet. On lower settings it is inaudible. I evaluated the purifier with the candle smoke test and the purifier recognized the smoke from the candle and cleared the air quickly. One feature I have especially appreciated is the child lock. I do not have to worry about my toddler accidentally turning the purifier off or changing settings. The app experience is particularly good. You can control the purifier from the application and get limited readouts of your room’s air quality. Everything in the app works well. This also means there is smart home integration for the Blue Pure Air 511i. However, at the time of my review, Alexa integration does not work. You cannot sign in or connect the skill at this time and all the 1-star reviews back this reality up. However, I was able to get things working well through Google Home. Conclusion: This is another impressive air purifier from Blueair. The new features work very well. The only nitpick I have is that Alexa integration is currently broken. Still, everything else has worked well and I am sure I will be buying more pre-filters and filters for this purifier for years to come. 4.5/5

The setup for the 511i Max was quick and easy. Blueair made it so simple that I couldn’t even believe it. I took it out the box, turned it on, opened the app and hit the connect product +. I already had a Blueair classic, so I had the app and an account setup. I’m familiar with the ui and features of the Blueair app which made it easier for me to use. I wanted to add this to a nursery and it is perfect for it. It is quiet, goes well with the other things in the room and now I know the baby is breathing cleaner air. The Blueair 511i is designed to keep a small 465 square feet room properly clean/filter in about 30 minutes. This is going to be on all the time for the nursery. I have it on auto setting with the lights dimmed. I will monitor it using the app and notifications. The app rates the air quality of the room and outside. I compare the ratings and the Blueair is usually excellent and outside is usually good. I’m going to enjoy breathing the fresh air of 511i and the health benefits that come along with it. I recommend an air purifier for any room you are spending a lot of time in. The Blueair 511i filters smoke, pollen, pet dander, dust, molds, viruses and other bacteria. If you’re looking for something that helps with allergies this air purifier will help. I started using air purifiers a couple of years ago because of allergies and I will not be going back. My best feature is that it cleans the air!

Up until three years ago Blueair was a brand I had never heard of until I got the Protect 7470i and it quickly became my main air purifier. I use that one to control the smell of some food my girlfriend cooks from spreading throughout the whole house! The 511 will be my air purifier for my small office to help even more. One of the best features of my 7470 is the ability to control and monitor everything with the app, with the price of the 511 it’s nice that you have the same control as most other inexpensive air purifiers don’t have app control. The 511 comes with a removable grey fabric pre filter and they have three other colors available if you want to customize it for your environment. You also have two other filter choices when replacing the main filter. The standard filter is particle+carbon and the other two are allergenblock and smokeblock. During operation the purifier is very quiet on setting one and relatively quite on two. When it’s running on three (the highest setting), it’s not quiet but it’s far from what I would call loud. I mean no air purifier I have is quite on its highest setting as it is a fan that’s spinning after all! Leaving it in auto mode, 95% of the time it will be running in the lowest setting until it detects odors. If you’re looking for an inexpensive small room air purifier that can be customized, the Blueair 511i is a great choice.

I am absolutely thrilled with the Blueair Blue Pure 511i Max! Living in a city apartment, air quality has always been a concern, and this little powerhouse has made a huge difference. Despite its "small room" designation, it effectively purifies the air in my open-concept living and dining area. The HEPASilent technology is truly impressive. It works so quietly, I often forget it's even on! Unlike other air purifiers I've tried, the 511i Max doesn't have that annoying loud hum. Yet, I can genuinely feel the difference in the air quality. It feels cleaner, fresher, and even seems to help with my seasonal allergies. The fact that it covers up to 926 sq ft is fantastic. I love that I can move it to different rooms as needed, and it still performs beautifully. The design is also sleek and modern, blending seamlessly with my home decor. It's not bulky or obtrusive like some other air purifiers. Setting it up was a breeze – literally plug and play. The controls are intuitive, and I appreciate the simple indicator lights. Knowing it's constantly working to remove dust, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne particles gives me real peace of mind. If you're looking for a highly effective, quiet, and stylish air purifier for your home, the Blueair Blue Pure 511i Max is an absolute winner. It's improved the air quality in my home significantly, and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Five stars all the way!

INTRODUCTION This is my 2nd Blueair product. My main unit is quite large and made to clean large rooms, the 511i Max is an excellent companion, made to clean small areas like bedrooms. Based on my experience with the 511’s big brother, I’m guessing filter life to be approximately 6 – 9 months. SET-UP The 511i Max comes in 3 parts. The motor assembly, a spacer ring and the base that the filter slides over, all covered by a fabric pre-filter that is pre-installed into the motor assembly. The 511i includes built-in Wi-Fi and is set-up by Blueair’s simple and extremely intuitive app. The app is basic and simple and setting up a 511i with the app couldn’t be easier or more straightforward. The app connects to the 511i, transfers your Wi-Fi information, and then disconnects where the 511i then joins your home Wi-Fi. It is simple and straightforward. But it also begs the question: Does an air purifier really need Wi-Fi? USE I configured the 511 to Auto Mode, as I’m sure most folks will. Using this mode, the 511 monitors indoor air quality and adjusts its speed based on monitored particle count. Just like its big brother, the air quality sensor is very sensitive and the 511 is quick to respond to changes in indoor air quality. The air quality can also be monitored via the Blueair app as well. On Auto Mode, my 511 is virtually silent. The only way I can hear the machine run is placing my ear less than a foot above the exhaust. However, when my indoor air quality does get worse, the 511 is annoying. Not that it is loud, but the fan makes an odd, scratchy rattle. I equate it to a PC’s case fan when the ball bearings start to fail. The cost cutting is evident. In Auto Mode with good air quality, you can’t hear the issue unless you get up close. But it is there and there all the time. When the machine does need to ramp up the fan due to poor air quality the fan rattle becomes evident from within the room and is annoying. My large Blueair air cleaner has been running non-stop for nearly 4 years and doesn’t have this symptom. FINAL THOUGHTS The 511i Max is a sleek looking air cleaner. It looks much nicer than the basic appliances from other manufacturers. The Blueair app is very thought out and lets you monitor and control the machine from anywhere. You can tweak nearly every part of the 511 via the app. LED brightness, fan speed, monitor the air quality, the app even keeps track of remaining filter life. It is a great app. What isn’t great, is how much cheaper the 511i feels compared to Blueair’s other products. Materials feel much flimsier, and the quality seems far cheaper. The icing on the cake is the cheaply designed fan. I’ve been fortunate to test air purifiers from nearly every manufacturer and none of them have ever had the rattling problem the Blueair does. Other small room air cleaners in my house that have been knocked off dressers from kids or cats don’t rattle. NOT RECOMMENDED

    Clicking Sound in Fan

About the Blueair Blue Pure 511i The Blueair Blue Pure 511i is a home air purifier designed for a room up to 465 square feet. It utilizes a single air filter to clean the air around it. The Blue Pure series is the higher end of what Blueair makes, claiming to be the top-performing line for Blueair. This series claims to clean the air quietly, quickly, and better than other air filters. There is an app for your phone to see more information about its status and to control its settings. Size & Appearance The air filter has a clean looking design. The first thing that I noticed was the gray textured fabric on three quarters of the filter. The top area is plastic and houses the fan and control buttons. The size of the unit is kind of medium. It doesn’t exactly fit well on a nightstand, but it’s not as large as some of the other air filters that I have owned. I would describe this as a smaller floor-standing unit. Setting Up Setting the air filter up was easy. Everything was ready out of the box. Plug it in and connect it to the app. The app can be found in the App Store or on Google Play. I already had the app installed on my phone since I own one of Blueair’s Dust Magnet filters. Connection to the app worked flawlessly. It does want you to connect to a 2.4 GHz signal. My Eero 6e Pro had no issues connecting. App Controls The app gives you the option to control the filter settings through your Wi-Fi. You can control things such as: *Brightness of LED lights * Fan speed * Name the Air Filter (handy if you purchase more than one) It uses your location to provide information on the air outdoors to give you an understanding of your external environment. You can select the Indoor screen to see the PM level, and it gives a general condition description such as Polluted, Moderate, Excellent, etc. It does allow you to track multiple Blueair products, so you can buy multiples and name them differently. Touch Controls Touch controls allow you to adjust the air purifier without needing the app. The buttons are on the top of the unit. You can control things such as: *Brightness of LED lights (using Night mode) * Fan speed (Auto, Night, 1, 2, & 3) Filter The 511i has 1 large filter. The gray fabric cover goes directly over the filter and works almost as a second filter that you can clean off. The single filter is a replaceable type, so you will replace it every so often, which the app will help you track of when to do that. Note that there’s no case around the filter. You literally touch the filter through the gray cover when you pick it up. If something bumps into it, it could damage the filter. Air Flow The air enters the base of the unit and is pulled out at the top. You can feel wind blowing out of the top when it is on. As I mentioned earlier, you can clean the outer gray cover to help the air flow properly. Sound The volume of sound is very low until you put it on the highest setting (3). We were using this in the bedroom and were looking for an air purifier/sound machine combo. The 511i is not good for a sound machine. It won’t drown any noise out unless you have it up on setting 3. Even then it’s not going to drown out much. The worst thing about this product is the sound that it makes. It sounds like a Desktop PC fan that is about to go out. Very light clicky sound that does not stop. You can hear this on all of the settings except the loudest one. Only then does the clicking gets covered by the sound of the machine itself. This one issue is a non-negotiable for me, and causes me to say that I cannot recommend this particular air purifier. Air Freshness After using it for 3 or so days, I cannot really tell that there’s a huge difference in air quality. I think that’s something that has to be measured with instruments to really understand what all it’s doing. Our house uses a lot of single air filters in different rooms as well as us changing the main furnace filters four times a year, so it may be harder for me to notice a change in freshness for this one room. Overall, I cannot recommend this product and am giving it 3 stars. I think that it probably works fine for the job it’s supposed to do. The app works well, and the air purifier looks nice. The constant clicking sound and the fact that the filter is not protected are quality issues that should have been considered before the product was released.

I already have multiple heavy duty air purifiers scattered throughout my house but I wanted to add an extra one in the guest bedroom and adjoining hallway because I will have a house guest who has a lot of allergy sensitivities. The Blueair model 511i Max was the perfect size for the area I needed and I liked its simple esthetics. Setup via wifi took less than a minute and I appreciated that the unit was able to tell me the air quality of the room in real time. The unit is also extremely quiet. So quiet that I wondered if it's on? Even at the highest setting the sound decibel is significantly lower than the other units I have in the house, which is a definitely plus! I also like how I am able to remove the exterior washable filter to clean when needed. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and think it will add to the comfort of my house guest's stay!

This is decent for a small room. Not much to it when you open the box. Just the air purifier wrapped in plastic. Cord comes already attached. Includes a small instruction manual but the basic step is, like everything else that is tech, is to download the app and go from there. You can use this without wifi, and the instruction manual tells you how to turn off the pairing light if you don’t want to use wifi, but there really is no reason not too. You get more alerts from the app. Can use it to change the speeds and functions, and also use it to alert you when the filter needs to be changed. This is my second blueair purifier, so I already had the app. It was super easy to just “add new device” in the app and pair the new purifier. Not much else to say with this. It works good for a small room. Has 3 regular speeds, an auto speed, and a night time “nightlight” speed to keep this quiet for sleeping. You can also read the manual to see how to turn off the display lights on the unit itself, so you aren’t distracted while sleeping if you use this in a bedroom. I definitely dimmed the lights a little, but kept them on to use kind of like a night light. Very useful. You can also use the app to dim and adjust the brightness. Only downside to this, is I don’t like the fact there is not actual “buttons” that click so you know when you actually pushed something. The buttons on the unit are just tap sensitive. And there is a delay when you first tap them. So you might tap it, not realizing it’s already booting up, tap it again and accidentally mess up the speed you wanted. Not a huge deal, but something I don’t find ideal. Actual buttons would be better

I recently purchased the Blueair Blue Pure 511i Max for my bedroom, and I'm impressed! This air purifier is sleek, quiet, and efficient. It uses HEPASilent technology to remove 99% of airborne pollutants like dust, pet dander, and allergens, making the air feel noticeably cleaner. The smart air quality sensor adjusts the fan speed automatically, and I love being able to control it through the Blueair app. It covers up to 926 sq ft, which is perfect for my room, and operates quietly enough that I can sleep without disruption. The filter system is easy to maintain, and the app sends reminders when it’s time to replace the filters. While it’s a bit pricey, the performance and features are worth it. I would definitely recommend this air purifier if you need a reliable, quiet option with smart capabilities!

We purchased the Blue Pure 511i Max about 3 weeks ago and have it in our bedroom. We have the fan on automatic and you can not hear it. The only time it changes speed is after my wife uses her hair spray. It runs on high for about 10 minutes and then changes back to low speed. It is amazing how it detects the hair spray in the bedroom because she uses it in the bathroom. The unit is pleasant to look at and is not an eyesore in the room. Low speed is not audible, medium is barely noticeable and high is like white noise. I do not see any reason to change the speed we just leave it on automatic. The phone app works great and shows you the air quality. You can also change the intensity of the lights on the unit so that it does not disturb you while you are sleeping. The main light changes from blue being the best air quality to green, orange, light red and to dark red at the worst air quality. I do not have any thing bad to say about the product. It does what it is supposed to do.

This purifier is small, quiet, and effective. I researched a lot of other purifiers, but was unhappy with the large sizes I found that do not work in my apt. I love this design and the fact that it does not take up much space.

Our air cleaner is stylish, easy to clean and works great! We have purchased several. You can change the outside cloth cover.

At first I was pretty skeptical of air purifiers but now we are FULL Blown believers in them. We mainly got it since our cats like to chew their arms, their vet suggested we get them an air purifier since they may be allergic to something in the environment. So we did, we had it in our bedroom, and it has for the most part helped with keeping them from eating their arm hair off. The app does let you know how polluted your air is, as well as there being a notification light on the device itself. I tested it on all levels of the home, and noticed that the room that only had a flow out vent, it kept the room cooler. But we still weren't completely sold on an air purifier, since the light near left the "great air" quality. So we decided to put it in the main room, which is the kitchen, dining, and living room. I decided to toast some bread in my convection oven, and for whatever reason, my convection oven malfunctioned and when the timer went off, the inside started to smoke. I hurried up and opened all the windows before the smoke alarms went off. This air purifier kicked on so fast, I would say it cleared out all the smoke, smell, and returned our air quality from heavily polluted to back to "great air" quality in about an hour. After that, we decided to keep it, and now are looking into another one for other parts of the house. Do I recommend this? Absolutely! Do you need the app portion? not really, but its cool to see where your air quality is, and see how much life you have on your filter.
