As an HVAC contractor I’m very impressed with how well my Blueair works filtering the air as well its build quality. However I can’t review how the app works due to the long ping times on my satellite internet. It won’t work consistently. This has given me problems with other devices too. I was supposed to have fiber by “mid” December but I’m still waiting for it. I’ll add a comment to my review when it is installed and I properly test the app.. A couple of days after I got the Blueair my wife had bought some little pastry tarts and the plastic container’s lid popped back open and fell onto a hot stove eye I had just taken a pan off. It didn’t take long to smell it and see the smoke rising fast when I turned around. It didn’t catch fire but it sure smoked up the kitchen. I pulled the eye out with pliers I keep in a kitchen drawer, took it and the container and tossed them outside. In the kitchen came the Blueair and I turned it up to max. Within around 15 minutes there was NO Smoke odor anymore. I was Impressed!! Instructions and setup are pretty straight forward. It has a long cord which is a plus. It’s made from mostly metal instead of all plastic. Built in handles recessed in the top sides make it easy to take from room to room if needed. It has a blue power indicator LED on the front. The 280i can clean up the air and pretty quickly depending on how high you have the fan (actually a blower wheel) turned up. It pulls air into the filter in back and discharges out the top behind the controls to the left. So keep this in mind for where you choose to use the unit. It’s pretty quiet at the lowest speed setting but does get louder when you increase the fan speed as expected. The device’s specs for how many times per hour it recycles the air in a 279 SQR foot room is based on the fan on the high speed setting. The controls are under a cover on the top front of the unit. They are a membrane type and light up blue. They are pretty bright and could be annoying in a dark bedroom if the cover is left up. However, according to Blueair you can dim the LED indicators with the app. There are indicators for WiFi, Fan Speed, FIlter change due, Auto Mode, VOC Level and dust particle density. These indicators tell you: WiFi status, fan speed, when to change the filter and when the VOC and dust particle levels are high. Blue always means on or ok, orange means attention or warning. Gray (not illuminated) means off. See manual for more info. The 280i has built in sensors to monitor PM2.5, VOC, temperature/humidity. These are used when the unit is in auto mode and also with the app to tell you the unit’s performance. The 280i comes shipped with the better of two filter choices. However, after reading and studying the specs of the two at Blueair’s website it appears that only the more expensive of the two will remove volatile organic compounds (VOC). See links to Blueair’s filter specs below. You can subscribe to their filter service and get a discount on the filters. https://www.blueair.com/us/air-purifier-filters/classic-200-series-dualprotection/1907.html https://www.blueair.com/us/air-purifier-filters/classic-200-series-particle/122.html User Manual: https://www.blueair.com/on/demandware.static/-/Library-Sites-blueair-content-library/default/dwc10ec9be/support/documents/Classic-200-series-user-manual.pdf Register online within 60 days and you get a five (5) year warranty instead of just one (1). My conclusion is the device does an excellent job of cleaning indoor air. The app is not required but necessary to get the most out of the units features. I will recommend it to my customers as well as Best Buys.

Blueair Purifier 200 Series What’s included: -Series 280i purifier -Hepa Filter There is not much included in the box but I did get everything to get me started. It’s nice to get a filter included but for the cost of the unit it would be nice to get more than one. Setup: To do basic setup without connecting to the app is very simple. All I had to do is remove the plastic off the filter, plug the unit in the outlet and power the fan speed. To connect the unit to my WiFi network was frustrating. Something seems to be wrong with the app because it is not working properly. I tried several times and carefully read and followed the instructions with no success. After about 3 hours I got lucky and I was connected. In my opinion I don’t think the app is necessary because all get to control is the fan speed and you have a log of the air quality. I have the speed on auto and I will probably never need to adjust it. If I do need to I also have the onboard buttons. Quality: The LED lights indicators are nicely done. I do have to say that I am impressed with the quality of the Blueair 280i. It is not plastic but instead steel which is nice and help justify the price. When I have the speed on low the fan is quiet but you can still hear it. The app indicates that I have excellent air quality before I started using it but I know it will help me with pollen allergies and pet dander. Insights: Since I was in the hunt for a air purifier I’m glad I was able to get a higher quality one. Since this only covers 279 square feet, I will be looking to add another especially if it improves my health. The app indicates that the filter lasts for 180 days which is about 6 months. With that in mind all you need is 2 filters a year. Cheapest price for the filter that fit my series 280i is $49.99. That is a little over $8 a month and if it works as advertised I think it’s a great price to pay. The Blueair 280i is easy to move around if you need to. It’s energy star certified and barely use energy on low fan speed. I say get it and set it on auto so you can enjoy it at every breath you take. Check out some of the pictures that I included.

I have been looking for a new air purifier for a variety of reasons, not just for cleaner air due to covid. We opted for the 280i since the 279 sq foot limit matched the average size of our rooms. It’s average size for most similar units, it’s about 20 inches high, 8.5 inches deep at the front of the arc of the unit and a bit less than 18 inches wide. This thing is whisper quiet especially at fan speed 1 and even very soft at fan speed 2. Right now, we have it in our kitchen as this is where we have the most “smells”. I wanted to test it first in the room where we sometimes struggle with persistent odors. Even though we have a outside vented range hood, we still notice that for much of what we cook, the smells linger overnight. The first thing I noticed in using this device is that it has eliminated that problem. According to the specifications, it filters a room that size about 5 times an hour. As stated above, once we finish cooking things now, typically within 2 hours, most all of the odors have been eliminated. I really wanted to test this unit here first to test the true air/odor filtration and it seems to have met all my expectations. I plan to next test it in our bedroom to see how well it improves the air quality there as well as if it helps my allergies as our dog sleeps with us, lol. Setup was simple, just plug it in and turn it on. I did download the app from the Google Play store. It did take several attempts before I was able to get the app to connect to the unit. Once you do that, you can control fan speed. You can also view the status of your air through several different measurements ( PM1, PM 2.5, PM10, tVOC- all different particle sizes). The app will tell you what each one is. It also shows the measurements of these over time as well so you can track overall air quality over time. The only issue I have had and still have is frequently the app will loose connectivity to the unit even though the wifi light indicates that it is on the wifi. Most of the time I can stop and restart the app and it will connect. About 1/3 of the times this happens, I have to unplug and plug in the unit and it will then reconnect. I have loaded the BlueAir Classic skill on my Alexa and I can control the fan by increasing it, I can also query the air quality inside or outside based on my location. I can ask my filter status and when to change the filter. As for the filters, $49 bucks for replacements. They are supposed to last 6 months so I will have to see how that goes. I am hoping to get more than that out of them. If you sign up for their auto replacement program, they will extend your warranty for the life and ship them free along with a 15% discount. Overall I am pleased with this unit and assume that future app updates will eventually eliminate the wifi strangeness but in all honesty, the access panel is so simple and easy, its almost easier just to walk by it and change it if you need to up or down the fan speed.

Utilitarian Look and Feel But Works Well

This is not my first air purifier for my home but I wanted to try this brand out to see how it does. It works pretty well and has some interesting features on the app but the design is rather blah and the noise could be lower. Especially with the big virus going around, I wanted a purifier that works well as its foremost feature. This seems to do that as far as I can tell. You can just plug it in and turn it on manually and it will start to purify your air. If you want more flexibility, you can connect it to your wi-fi and download the app and control it with your phone. Through the app, you can learn about your room's air quality with a number of statistics. It will rate your PM1, PM2.5, PM10, total VOC, temperature and humidity into numbers and explain what those numbers mean in an easy to understand way. You can also control the fan speed, set schedules and see the filter status in the app. This is all pretty useful information, especially if you're a data nerd like me. The downside is that you don't get any of that in-depth info without using the app. Not a big deal to me though. The look of the air purifier from an aesthetics perspective is just, meh. It won't look beautiful in your home. It resembles a basic dehumidifier or tiny old-school refrigerator. It definitely looks like they didn't put much thought into how it would look in your home. If aesthetics are important to you, there are other air purifiers out there that look better than this one. This purifier has three fan speeds on it, which you can adjust based on your needs, or you can put it on auto and it will adjust itself as necessary. I would say that the lowest speed is just a little bit louder than whisper quiet, but not bothersome at all. The second and third speeds get pretty loud. Think like a hotel air conditioner that just kicked on. You might get used to the sound, but when you shut it off it's like "aaaaahhhhhhh!" I gave this four stars because I want it to clean the air in my home and I think it does that. I didn't give it five stars because of its look and the loudness of the higher fan speeds. Overall I would still recommend this product though.

Air purification is a total necessity nowadays especially with the current pandemic and all. And with that you can never have enough air purifiers at home or the office. I'm no stranger to Blueair filters as they have a proven track record of putting out great items. I have three of their older models and I've had them for a number of years I can't recall how many but definitely more than five years and have never encountered a single problem and I have them turned on 24/7. I wanted a newer model with more features so I opted for the Blueair 280i and I'm happy with my choice let's take a better look at the 280i. I have a small apartment with multiple pets, and I live in a high-rise that doesn't have the best air quality which is a price you pay for the convenience of city life. So now that we know about that let's take a look at what the Blueair 280i does and has to offer. :::First impressions::: Upon taking the Blueair out of the box you see how small the device is. It is great for those who have small spaces much like myself. But don't let the small footprint fool you because this is definitely a workhorse and can filter so much. Opening the box the air purifier is simple to put together, take the filter and insert it and power it on, download the application and setup the optional wifi feature. :::Pros & Cons::: Pros: - Small footprint - Powerful fan with three speeds - Built in wifi - Can filter multiple allergens and contaminants - Nearly silent even at the highest setting - Large filter (One) less maintenance Cons: - There aren't any cons with this product it is simple to use and works as it should. :::General Thoughts::: This is my fourth Blueair purifier and it is the smallest and I believe more powerful than the Blueair 503 which I have three of. The downside to those is that they use three filters but that can also be seen as a strength. A definite plus of the 280i is that it uses one medium sized filter. That results in spending less on the filters but that depends on your usage. My fiance is allergic to my cat and with this air purifier it catches the pet dander from not only my cat but most especially my dog. She doesn't sneeze as much as opposed to my old 503. I'm generally less congested and I don't experience my eyes burning so badly when frying anything. These are just some pleasant realizations that I've made. :::TL;DR::: Blueair makes some of the best air purifying products on the market hands down. If you are in need of a small purifier that can purify many contaminants then look at the 280i. If you require something larger then have a look at their other products.

This is a hefty piece of equipment that says it will filter a room size up to 279 sq ft. So I put it in my living/dining room which combined are just under 400 sq. Now, to be honest with you I can't measure how much better my air quality is, however going by the app that I connected via Bluetooth, it is excellent. The unit comes with a very large filter that is replaced every 180 days, and they cost about $50 each. As the pics show, there's a monitor on the unit that shows the filter life. You have the ability to to set a timer to start and stop the purifier, I used it in military time but I'm sure that it can been changed if you like or you can start it manually thru the app as well. There's a choice of 3 fan speeds; low, med, and high. I generally keep it on low which is very quiet, the higher speeds do make a louder sound but it is in no way distracting. By the way I think the app was very well thought out and very easy to navigate. Of course you can just use the buttons on the panel instead of downloading the app. On a personal note, I live in the northeast...it's cold out so all my windows are closed. On top of that I'm gutting my bathroom floor and walls, which brings a ton of dust even with the door closed, so far I'm not sneezing like crazy. And I hope it'll work better than my old ionic purifier!

Extremely Silent & Efficient Air Purifier

I've suffered from asthma all my life so breathability has always been a bit of a priority to me. Growing up my family did not have access to purifiers, nor did I pay much attention to them as I got older when I could finally afford them. It wasn't until about a year ago that I purchased a couple of air purifiers. I'll never not have one going forward. Out of the several air purifiers I own, this is hands down the best one. However, it is certainly not the most affordable solution. One thing I want to clarify (since I was under the impression that all Blueair products are made in Sweden) is that while you'll see "Made in Sweden" in a lot of their marketing, this particular unit was made in China but designed in Sweden (please see pic). However, that did not deter the amazing performance that this unit was able to produce. The reason this has become the best air purifier I own is because of how silent it operates, the amount of air it can push, and it's ability to filter particulates and odors. The air purifier has three settings: low, medium, and high. It runs extremely silent at low to the point where you can barely even hear it. While medium and high are of course louder, they are still nowhere near as loud as the rest of the air purifiers I have around the house at max settings. I usually leave it on auto (which keeps it on low most of the time) and it only ramps up if it detects particulates in the air. I tested this by spraying cologne in my master bedroom and the VOC light turned amber, the fan speed increased (at a very reasonable audible level), and as soon as it got rid of the particulates, it went back down to low. Even though this purifier is marketed for small to medium rooms, it pushes a ton of air. This purifier filters the air 5 times in a 279 sq foot room in an hour. This is pushing as much air, if not more, than most air purifiers marketed for "living rooms" by other competitors. Aside from all the spec sheet numbers, I can attest to the difference in air quality made possible by this air purifier. I feel like breathability is great in my master bedroom. I can sleep all night without waking up once. In the mornings, I wake up without a stuffy nose. Most importantly, it keeps my number one asthma trigger at bay; allergies. Ever since I've started using purifiers it has practically eliminated my sneezing; especially in the mornings. I have to mention the app as it's pretty much a necessity if you want to see all the useful numbers that are aggregated from the purifier's sensors. It's also a necessity if you decide that you want to turn off the blue circular led logo that might be too bright for some bedrooms. As was the case for me and it ended up causing some "light pollution" at night when going to bed. Thankfully the app allows you to dim the blue LED light or completely turn it off. I just leave it off so I don't have to mess with it. I have been pretty impressed with the app's simplicity and usefulness. Once you have the Blueair app downloaded for either Android or IOS, you'll want to make sure that you're connecting to your Wi-Fi SSID in 2.4Ghz. It will not work on the 5Ghz band. The app will tell you this as well. Once in the app, you're met with a very well presented and well organized dashboard. You can see the current air quality index, PM stats, tVOC stats, humidity, and temperature. I love that it gives you indoor and outdoor stats. The app allows you to control the fan speed, set schedules if you want a certain fan speed to come on at a certain time, and also tells you exactly how many days you have left on your filter! Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this air purifier. However, there are a couple of cons for me. The dual protection filters are very expensive in my opinion. Considering that Blueair recommends replacing the filter every 6 months, that's a tough pill to swallow when each dual protection filter costs about a 1/4 of the total cost of the unit itself. This means that every year you'll be spending half of the total cost of this unit if you replace your filters with dual protection filters twice a year. For comparison, one of my other top air purifiers by another brand, offers dual filters (carbon+particle) for half the cost of blueair's dual protection filters. Luckily, there's an alternative option and that's purchasing the particle filter only (no carbon filter) which is about half the cost of the dual protection filter. My last gripe is a bit of a minor one. Due to it's physical design, the air filter is on the only flat side of the air purifier. Most people will want to place this air purifier flush up against a wall on the flat side of the unit for obvious aesthetic reasons. Unfortunately, that flat side is where the air filter is located and where the unit draws it's air from. Luckily for me, this wasn't an issue at all as I have more than enough space in the corner of my master bedroom to orient it in a multitude of ways. However, I can see people not having a choice in tight spaces and having to put the air purification side pretty close to a wall which would could lead to less than optimal results. You could overcome this by simply orienting the flat side (air filter side) opposite of the wall but it obviously won't be as visually appealing. With that aside, I still highly recommend this air purifier if you want one of the best air purifiers on the market. I would have given it five stars had it not been for the steep cost of the replacement dual protection filters. In terms of performance and quality though, this is as good as it gets and it will be evident in the air quality of your home once you get this air purifier setup.

So this is my 3rd air purifier as I have bad allergies the older I get. So does one of my kids, also a boy. As far as air purifiers go I believe this one works a bit better when it comes to air quality control and filtration. Tho I have to run it all day every day. Which is fine but the light bill will rise. Small literal price to pay I suppose. Air seems fresher as well. I sleep better than I did before. Even if it’s only slightly better sleep. I will take it as my nose gets clogged up easily and often. Filter is very large and thick as well. They are a bit pricey but you don’t have to change out as frequently as you do with others. So the price per filter evens outs to about the same. Touch controls work well. Easy to use and all. But man they are overly bright and if you use in the bedroom like I do. You are in for a treat. This version actually comes with an app which my other ones did not. It’s great if you want to be lazy and change any settings in bed. It also tells you if your air is getting bad and you need to run it. That’s to me is great. Because some days I turn it off just for a few hours and I start to feel horrible. Then I check the app and it shows the pollutant levels are back up. I live in an old dusty apt for the last 12 yrs. I know it’s the ac vents and such. So this Blueair comes in very handy. I have no real issues. But I will say the filter does have a light chemical-ish smell. Not bad but there. I do recommend. At least give it a try for sure.

We got this room air purifier to combat seasonal allergies and air quality concerns in our home. Recently, we’ve been doing a lot of interior home improvement projects that have subsequently caused a visible layer of dust to settle on surfaces on a near daily basis, so I was concerned with how much of that we were breathing in as well. The Blueair Classic 280i was a good fit for us because it handles a max room size of 279 sq ft and the largest room in our house is just about 300 sq ft. At the recommended max room size, it is supposed to completely filter the air in the room five times an hour. The unit is sizeable at 21” tall, 16.5” wide, and 8” from front to back. The body of the unit is made of sturdy sheet metal, and the only plastic parts are the handle on the back for the filter compartment and hinged lid on top that covers the touch control panel. The unit doesn’t have wheels on the bottom; instead there are just 6 rubber feet, so if you do need to move the unit, it needs to be picked up. However, it’s not all that heavy, weighing only about 25 lbs, and it has built-in recessed handles on the sides to help you carry it. The overall build quality of the unit feels solid, and it has a sleek, modern look to it. The unit draws in air from the back, so you’ll need to leave enough clearance behind the unit for it to draw in air from the room; be careful near window curtains which may stick to and block the back if placed directly in front of them. Fortunately, the filter and grated door on the air purifier prevents anything from getting inside the unit and going into the fan itself. Filtered air exhausts from the top of the unit, so if you set the unit below lightweight objects like papers on a desk, it may blow them around. This is a smart air purifier, so it can be connected to your home’s wireless network via WiFi and can be controlled using Blueair’s smartphone app. Wireless setup was quick and easy, following the on-screen prompts in the app. The unit can be controlled manually as well using the touch controls at the top of the unit. The touch controls are backlit using bright blue LEDs which are always on. These lights are not dimmable and don’t turn off even when the control panel’s lid is closed -- you can see the blue light bleeding from the back of the panel, though this usually faces the wall. Thankfully the light is not visible from the front when the panel is closed, even in a pitch dark room. The unit has a small blue LED indicator light on the front that can be dimmed or turned off completely via the smartphone app (but not from the unit’s physical controls). You can set the filter fan to low, medium, or high by tapping the power button on the unit. The Classic 280i has an “Auto” mode which uses built-in sensors to detect the level of pollutants in your air and automatically adjust the fan speed to provide the most efficient level of filtration based on current conditions. The contaminants that it checks for are PM1, PM2.5, PM10 (different sized particles) and tVOC for chemicals and vapors. If you use the smartphone app, the measured levels are recorded on a graph that tracks the level of air contaminants over time so you can see when there are spikes of pollutants and how quickly they are removed by the unit. The sensors seem to work well as we saw predictable increases in pollutant levels for example during/after cooking, and when we were painting the dining room we saw an expected increase in tVOC levels. The icons on the unit’s control panel will change from blue to orange when contaminant levels are high. I was impressed with how quickly these levels were lowered with the unit running on high, typically within an hour or two. I’ve noticed as well that smells and odors no longer linger. For weeks, after we installed new ceilings on the first floor there was a lasting scent of dust and construction lime from the new drywall. That smell is all but faint trace after running the 280i on the first floor for about a week. We even noticed that the day after painting the walls, after running the air purifier in the room overnight, the “fresh paint” smell was not that noticeable. We’ve also used this unit in the bedroom, as this tends to be one of the dustiest areas of the home. It’s on top floor, gets a lot of in and out traffic, and is fully carpeted. We usually see a lot of dust motes floating in the sunbeams casting through our windows, but with the 280i running, we don’t see them anymore. The air is cleaner and fresher smelling too, and I don’t wake up stuffy-nosed and itchy-throated in the mornings. The best part is that when the unit is on low, we barely hear it. Sometimes I forget that it’s even on until I walk past and hear the gentle hum of the fan whirring, so it hasn’t interfered with our sleeping at all. Even at the highest fan speed, I don’t find it too loud, much less so than say a running box fan. The only downside to the unit is the high cost of the replacement filters which Blueair recommends replacing every 6 months. There is a “filter status” tracker in the app that counts down from 180 days, indicating when the filter should be replaced. Blueair has an auto-refill program where subscribers can receive a discounted price on filters that are automatically shipped at 6 month intervals. The included filter with this unit is a dual-stage filter with HEPA fibers on one side and a carbon filter on the other which is supposed to help remove gaseous particles like VOCs and odors faster than a HEPA filter alone, though it comes at a premium price versus the standard filter. The process for switching the filters is simple though: just open the door on the back, lift out the old filter, vacuum out any dust into the compartment, and pop a new filter in. Overall, I’m quite happy with the performance of this unit. It feels well-made and durable, is quiet when operating, and the air quality really does seem to be much cleaner and fresher in our home. Maintenance is simple and straightforward, and I like the user-friendliness of the app, which also gives you outdoor air quality reports in your area, if you provide your location, and reports the temperature and humidity levels inside your home measured at the unit. You can also create a custom schedule for the unit to run only at certain times or days of the week and set a child lock to disable the manual controls, though I prefer to just leave the unit on autopilot an let it do its thing.

Purchased this item to clear the air of our basement that has a fairly strong pet smell and also to remove allergens for my father. He has told me that his breathing and sleeping has improved since we started running it. Also purchased with the idea of potentially moving it from room to room. Unit is on the larger side but moving it around is still possible

This is my second air purifier in my house, and have to say that I'd easily recommend it to anyone looking to freshen up the air in their rooms. To start, set up was fairly easy and took about 10 minutes total: just plug in the purifier, follow the steps provided, and then let the purifier do its thing. It's small enough to tuck away and very quiet, with no lights on it should you decide to toggle them off inside the app settings. Once it's on and connected to wifi, there really isn't much else you have to fuss with daily or even weekly. The only maintenance recommended from Blueair is to change the filter every six months (which will be reminded to you via the app notifications and onboard buttons on the purifier itself). From the app, you can set up different schedules and cycles for the purifier to go through daily, without having to do anything on the purifier itself. Being able to check all the different air readings via the app is very convenient and helpful. There are also alerts if the air is detected to be toxic (though this hasn't happened to me). The only real con, in my opinion, of the purifier, is that it does use an app that could be updated and streamlined to function a bit better. Of course, since I've set my purifier to run on auto and cycle at different parts of the day, it's not really too relevant to me for daily struggles. Overall, this seems like a solid purchase for anyone looking for a compact purifier for smaller rooms inside the house.

After having to deal with the wildfires last year, finding clean air was a struggle...This air purifier brings peace of mind to my family with how great it performs. Having set it up in my carpeted family room, it has worked wonderfully eliminating pet odors. The 280i was very simple to set up with the app and I am able to set a schedule for it to run. I was surprised how quietly it runs too. I have it set on the lowest setting and it is as quiet as a mouse. The app gives me a great view of the air quality in my area, as well as temperature and humidity. I opted to turn the led brightness down as well, as the default was just too bright. All in all I am very satisfied with this air purifier and would definitely recommend it!

My favorite feature of this device is how much it hides odors coming from other rooms in the house. Installed in our living room I wasn't sold on what benefit this thing would provide. We don't smoke and we are frequent house cleaners. There is a dog in the house that sheds a copy of itself every day. We don't live in California or China so putrid air from wildfires or manufacturing facilities wasn't a concern but I figured I would give it a try. The unit is quiet, unobtrusive and is simple to setup and configure. People well versed on what AQI, PM, CO, and SO2 all mean will be happy to see these numbers graphed in the app. What they mean is beyond me but they look pretty charted on a graph in the app. So I plugged it in and it pretty much sites quietly between fan speed of 0 and 1 and I mostly forget it's sitting in the corner. But then something magic happened: my girlfriend burned some bacon in the kitchen while I was watching TV in the living room. Visually I could see some smoke drifting out of the kitchen, but the fan on this thing kicked into high gear (level 3) and almost immediately the smells disappeared from the living room. The sounds of my girlfriend running around in a panic throwing pans in the sink, throwing open the windows, and generally shrieking from the burnt bacon were still there, but in the living room the cool breeze and clean air continued to fill my nostrils. It was great. We will definitely be adding these to more rooms in the home.

I honestly never thought I needed an air purifier but now that I have one I don't think I would be without one. The build quality is outstanding. This unit has sensors that allow it to determine the air quality and adjust the speed of the fan to provide the best quality possible. You can also manually adjust the fan speed for 3 different settings. Settings 1 and 2 are virtually silent. Level 3 can be heard but not too bad. We are using the unit in our kitchen and it hardly ever gets beyond the second level. My wife likes to use a griddle for cooking grilled sandwiches and the unit detects when there are odors in the kitchen and adjusts to remove them. I am a smoker and although I never smoke in the house occasionally when the weather is bad outside I open the sliding glass door and smoke to the outside. This unit picks up the slightest amount of smoke that comes back in to the house and immediately senses it and increases the fan speed and within 2 minutes removes anything that got back into the house. This unit came with the dual action filter so it can remove pretty much everything. The units lets you know if there are VOC or PM 2.5 particles present and when they are removed. The unit is small and lightweight and easy to find a place for it. Even though it is only rated for around 275 sq.ft. of coverage our first floor level is an open concept and more than that and it still does an excellent job. We are so pleased with this unit and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an air purifier.

    Better Night Sleep

Right out the box, this felt like a strong and sturdy unit. Product has a nice weight to it. It's actually made of metal where a lot of these units are usually made of plastic. Setup was pretty straight-forward. Pull the unit out the box, remove the plastic covering off of the filter and you're ready to go. I've concluded that I really don't require the app, but it is helpful to get the full experience out of the machine. Setup wasn't too difficult. Getting the unit synced up with the wireless router took a little longer than expected. Ended up having to go through the process a couple of times before successfully connecting everything. I leave the unit on Auto and that seems to work best. It ramps up when it needs to and even at full speed, it's not as loud as other units I've owned. Not having to manage yet another remote is nice, since I can manage the full functionality from my phone. We decided to put this unit in our bedroom to help filter the air we breathe while sleeping. Within the first couple of nights, there was a noticeable difference in the quality of air in our bedroom. This thing can clean air. My wife usually keeps a Glade plugin, or two, in our room to give the air a nice fragrance. I can't even smell them anymore. The unit completely removes the fragrance from the air. Also, any smells that creep into the bedroom from maybe the living room or kitchen are met with an immediate ramp up of the unit and a subsequent crisp, clean smelling bedroom. This thing is great. I've noticed that the sneezing and coughing I usually do in the morning, no doubt due to all of the contaminants and allergens that I breathed in the night before, have all but stopped since using the 280i. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the performance of the Blueair 280i. It's very easy to use and maintenance looks to be a simple task as well. It's not overly noisy and it operates efficiently in the environment that we have placed it in. Other than the occasional WIFI hiccup, this is one of the best purifier units I've ever owned and I would definitely buy Blueair again.

Amazing! We looked for quite awhile and finally settled on this one. Great choice. Takes out the dog smell and any mustiness that may be in a house (we don't have a basement so out house has humidity issue). My wife is allergic to our cat but this has helped greatly! The display and app are super easy to use. Would recommend.
