I’m glad I’ve purchased this brand and got it on Deal of the Day, it’s amazing how it helped me breathe excellent quality air because i suffer from allergies and it’s awesome that i can control it on the Blueair app, lastly I’m even more satisfied knowing that I purchased this brand before even watching it on YouTube title “Is an $800 purifier best to clean your home’s air?”

I bought the BlueAir 211+ first and was very happy. Read the Consumer Report and bought another for my bigger living room. It’s silent in low mode, still quite in medium mode, but quite loud but tolerable in high mode. Love it so far. Really like the Auto mode, just set and forget. Can also control thru WiFi app. Not sure if it’s the placebo effect, but feel like fresher air than before. Definitely recommend.

Exceptional Filtration, but Filters Are Expensive

This air filter is an absolute BEAST. It is nearly the size of a mini fridge, but it is surprisingly quiet, is reasonably lightweight, is easy to use - and most importantly, maintains exceptional air quality.
When the 3 filters are removed, the device appears to be incredibly simple - almost like a box fan with filters strapped to each side (see attached pictures for examples). The unit completely replaces our loft’s air every 12 to 15 minutes and it does a great job at removing food smells after we cook.
I’m bummed that filters cannot be cleaned and reused - but, this appears to be the case with most high quality HEPA style filters. I have learned that in order to filter smoke and odors, DualProtection filters are required. The DualProtection Filters have a charcoal screen over one side and while they last for 6 months (which is counted down within the BlueAir App), they are surprisingly expensive (even after the 15% discount that the company provides if you sign up for a filter subscription). If we had strong allergies, the replacement price wouldn't be so hard to swallow, but we are using the filter to remove occasional odors (from cooking and from pets) and also to filter the air during the summer when local fires often fill the air with so much smoke that air quality becomes poor even indoors.
I am not yet sure if the App truly measures how effective the filters are based on use, or if it simply counts down 180 calendar days. Either way, a 6 month replacement cycle does seem pretty good.
The unit requires 3 filters that are sold as a set.
Standard Particle Filters cost $79.99 (or $67.99 with subscription)
Dual Protection Filters (with the carbon screen) cost $149.99 (or $127.99 with subscription)
I ranked the device at 4 stars because it was surprisingly difficult to hook up to our WiFI. Also, it is a bit frustrating that the warranty only appears to be extended if you sign up for the filter replacement subscription. If the company really believed in their product, BlueAir would have a lifetime warranty regardless of subscription status.
...I am also not quite sure if the app truly measures indoor air quality. Since having the unit, it always states that the air quality in our house is excellent - which may simply mean it is working as intended. But, until the next season of wildfires, I may not have a good indication of how accurate the measurements are.
Overall, I do recommend this air filter. It is whisper quiet, energy star certified, quickly links up to Amazon Alexa, controllable through the mobile app, and does an incredible job filtering a space up to around 700 feet. If you have severe allergies, this mammoth filter will certainly help in an equally big way.

A powerhouse air filter!

The Blueair - Classic Series 680i 698 Sq. Ft. Air Purifier – White may look a dated air purifier but I tell you this air purifier is a powerhouse.
First it has the capacity to purify roughly 700 square feet of space.
Backed up by three filters, it is up to the task. These three filters are dual filter with one side being an air filter similar to air filters found in cars and the other side having a carbon filter. Having this type of filters enables the Blueair 680i filter VOCs or Volatile Organic Compounds and PM2.5 which stands for Fine Particulate Matter up to 2.5 micrometers.
The 680i also has a sensor for VOC and PM2.5 so in essence it can be a plug and play device with the fan activating when it senses pollutants. But of course, there is a top control panel for you to enable manual settings.
But since we are already in the age of the internet, the Blueair has an app which not only enables you to control the features of the unit, but it also enables you to monitor the air outside your house.
But overall, this is a very simple device to operate (Like I said it’s pretty much plug and play.) and not much really to say more about it save for the fact it does the job well. I’d highly recommend this unit.

In my extensive use of air purifiers/cleaners, I will say this ranks up there at the top. Clean air is important to me and the only way to get it is with decent equipment. I've had problems with congestion in the bedroom, and I never invested in a more decent machine for use in the bedroom, but now I wish I had done it sooner. After having used this for less than a week, I can tell you I noticed an immediate change. Laying in bed for a couple of hours before meant I woke up fully congested. Now, after using this, that is not happening. Coincidence? I don't think so. I have left the unit on full blast, because it makes a good white noise machine while on the highest level, but also because I wanted to clear out as much bad air as was up there. The unit, in auto mode, works great. But it varies the speed based on pollutants. I prefer the constant white noise, but it can be used manually on whisper quiet, mostly quiet, or not quiet. We prefer to sleep with not quiet mode. And with auto-mode it will adjust up and down as needed.
Anyway, this thing is built like a tank. This is no small machine, and that is a testament to the fact it is a serious machine. A huge fan will be revealed as you remove the plastic wrappers from the filters before its first use. And it contains three double duty filters, each contains a filter material and also what appears to be a carbon/electrostatic filter as well (see pics). The trick to this air cleaner is that it doesn't use true HEPA tightly wound filters, it uses thinner filters with an electrostatic process to trap dirt without having to drag it all through the filter to do it. That is a great thing and whether or not it works with COVID, it does kill bacteria with the electrostatic charge based on what I've read on their website.
What I thought was congestion coming from dust particles, is really coming from different chemical/gas smells. I know that bathroom spray and cleaners will trigger the VOC sensor, but I've gotten triggers for unknown reasons. And while I continue to investigate that, it is worrisome why that keeps happening. Sometimes the really heavy scented laundry soap in the hallway laundry will trigger it too. But the good part is that this kills off the smells quickly. Very quickly.
I know it says the filters will need to be replaced every 6 months and I'm okay with that given the level of cleaning it is doing. It is like any other investment you make, maintenance is going to be required. My other serious air cleaner machines require filter changes too, no difference in the end.
My favorite part of this is that instead of trapping and waiting for bacteria or whatever to die off, the electrostatic charge will kill it off without the chance for it to slip by the filters. Same with dust mites. That to me, makes this worth it over competitive machines. Having filters with this stuff still living on it until it is killed off doesn't make me feel like I'm very well protected which is what a HEPA machine without electrostatic function will do.
If you take your health seriously, consider this as a way to improve the air quality in your home. With so many of us working from home these days and the increased level of dust/dirt/etc. from occupying our homes 24x7 now vs. just 12 hours or so before the pandemic, there is even more need to keep things clean. I've got 2 long haired dogs that produce alot of hair and dander. And I mean alot. This has cleaned up the air in the bedroom to present a healthier night's sleep as well as providing a much better air quality being re-circulated through the home's air return ducts as the heat pump is running. So we are all benefiting from the purified air this is putting out.
This model does provide you with a WIFI enabled device, to keep an eye on the level of contaminants and allows you to see the air quality outside, but also inside too. You can control the unit via the app, and you can also use the schedule mode to schedule the machine to run at a higher level at night for example, or a lower mode at night and a higher mode during the day. Everyone is different. The other thing I've often heard from folks is that the lights are too bright on different machines in their bedrooms, and affects the ability to sleep. The cool thing with this control panel is that a door closes over the control panel to prevent tampering, but also to cover up the lights if they bother you. (NOTE: There is an electronic child lock through the app that lets you lock the control panel in case the little ones want to play with the buttons, the buttons won't function for them if locked)
I'll tell you that with my extensive experience with these types of machines, this should be on your short list of machines to try. I was surprised at how much good this does, and my lack of being congested is more important an indicator than any app, test, rating, or review.

Excellent App Connected Air Purifier

The BlueAir 680i is an excellent air purifier. It has great build quality, almost like a high end PC tower in size, quality and weight.
There’s 3 same sized high quality filter cartridges that have carbon and cotton filters. Not sure how the unit tracks expiration but each filter is rated for 180 days. BlueAir offers replacements as well as a subscription that is slightly cheaper, but the filters are expensive.
In terms of performance I put mine in the basement which is part home theater, part home gym but also has our cat litter box. Basements tend to get a little bit musty smelling and having the cat litter obviously produces cat waste odor like ammonia from urine but also when they go #2.
The BlueAir 680i has done a great job of neutralizing is both the damp mildew smell and cat litter smells of the basement.
I’ve set the unit to Auto and while set to speed 1 the unit is virtually silent. On speed 2 it is audible but not loud. At speed 3 the unit is loud like a fan or heater in the room.
The app setup was relatively easy although I had to do it twice due to an error the first time and the filters cried wolf about needing to be replaced when they didn’t, but otherwise I’m very pleased with this unit. There’s casters that allow it to be moved around easily and out of the box it isn’t there heavy to pick up.
I plan to subscribe to a filter replacement plan as it really helps with the kitty litter ammonia smell while working out on my treadmill.

Works Fast And Is Fairly Silent 98% Of The Time.

I've been using the Blueair Classic 680i air purifier, in the main area of my house (800sf) for a week. Overall I think it is a good product that works fast and is fairly silent 98 percent of the time.
The box contained the main unit and three filters which are good for 180 days. Setup was relatively easy. All I had to do was remove the plastic from the filters, plug it into an outlet, and connect it to my WIFI with the Blueair App.
Using and controlling the unit was also very simple. I just set the fan to auto and let it run. The first day using it, the built in sensors said my air was moderate. Within an hour of the unit running on high, it brought the air quality all the way down to Excellent. While running at the highest speed, which was level 4, it was quite loud. It sounded like the hood fan on my stove. However, when it was running on level 3 or below it was virtually inaudible. As the week continued, the unit would constantly sample the air and adjust the fan speed. Most times the fan speed stayed below 3. But every now and then, it would crank up to Level 4 for a few minutes.
While using the air purifier I definitely noticed a difference in air quality. Especially, when I was cooking or did anything that would create a scent in the air. The unit did a great job keeping the air scent free.
If you are shopping for an air purifier for a large area, this one gets my recommendation.

Godsend for us allergy sufferers

My home is FULL of allergy sufferers. Ours range from various foods, to ragweed, to pollen, to pet dander (cats). I've always thought air purifiers were just a gimmicky type of thing that supposedly purifies the air, but you rarely see actual results. I can now say, the Blueair purifier has successfully debunked that assumption. Here are some pros and cons to consider:
PROS
- Because of its HEPASilent technology, it is so quiet; very easy to forget it is even on
- Its built-in sensors regularly monitor the air quality in the home as well as the reported air quality outdoors!
- It comes with a free app where you can control the purifier fan and get reports of air quality changes
- You can have filters set to automatically send every 180 days as needed
- It has a lifetime warranty
CONS
- I had some difficulty pairing the device with the app; I had to reboot the device plus re-download the app twice before I got it to pair.
This is one item in my home that I can say, I am absolutely pleased with, and it provides recognizable improvement in our home health. Every home needs one of these, especially with the increase of indoor allergens lately --- so worth the investment.

I have been running this device for about two weeks now and must speak to the pros first. Excellent at cleaning and maintaining the air in my home. Excellent at removing Allergiens. Filters are very easy to install and remove, the company has taken the extra effort of marking each filter so they are installed in the correct positions. The automatic sensors are excellent at detecting when it needs to increase speeds. Blue tooth features have operated seamlessly for me. There is only one Con I need to mention and that is that this device is very loud when operating on the highest settings. Otherwise this device operates exactly as marketed and is a step above the competition.

I'm a person with sensitive allergies so this air purifier was a great investment. Due to COVID and the season, there's hardly any reason to constantly go in and out which means there's not much to purify inside. However, getting sleep at night with this running was amazing. For starters, this product is pretty quiet when on the lower settings. It produces a "white noise" effect that makes resting comfortable. There's a gentle, calming breeze that spreads throughout the room which makes working from home enjoyable. General setup was easy and the wheels are very necessary because I take this from room to room. App setup was quick and this app actually works. I mean it works! Readings for temperature are accurate and I can toggle between speeds with no issue. This is a game changer.

The quietest setting is remarkably quiet—so quiet I had to check that it was actually on, honestly.
I was mildly disappointed with the automatic setting: perhaps I misunderstood, but I'd expected that it would turn off when excellent air quality was reached; instead, it simply stays on the lowest setting until the system determines that a higher setting is needed given the air quality.
I also found that the WiFi connection was consistently troublesome. I had to refresh the app every time for it to recognize that the device was connected, which was frustrating.
Overall, I quite liked the device, despite the above complaints, but I will say be sure to measure the space you'd like to put it, accounting for the 4 inches' buffer zone as well.

I haven’t had the Blue Air Classic 680i for very long, but so far, it seems to be doing a very good job. I’ve had the smaller Blue Air 211+ for some time & love it! The Classic is quiet on low speed & helps eliminate a lot of the dust in the house. It also has eliminated the smell from having 2 dogs inside all the time. So far, I’m very pleased with my purchase.

I really like how well this works to clean the air. One way I know this works is because the room used to smell bad due to kitty using the litter box. I have tried using sprays to make the room smell better. It helped but never completely got rid of the smell. I have had this going now for a month and NEVER smell anything bad in my home. I love it! Just be prepared to pay for the filters when they need changing. Those do not appear to be too cheap but since they work so well... I can accept that there will be a price for those.

It definitely kicks on when somebody is cooking. I think it helps keep the air in the house cleaner. I am just not amazed by it. I sprayed my coach down with Febreze. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Febreze. It took 1/2 a day (with AC running and no windows opened) to clear out the Febreze scent. That is a pretty good performance! It is just not great. I was hoping it would be cleared out in a 1-2 hours, since company was coming over.

This is, by far, the best air cleaner I have ever used. I was hoping this would eliminate the cat litter dust and odor associated with having indoor cats, and my expectations were far exceeded.
In the box is the air purifier, the three air filters (two sides and the top) required and a startup guide. Setup takes minutes, open the access panels, install filters, put panels back in place, install the app, connect to wifi and you're up and running.
As far as quality goes, the purifier is well made, with panels that are quick and light to remove and filters that fit easily into place. The 680 has 4 small casters to allow for easy movement, but it is also lightweight enough that I have no problems carrying it up the stairs by myself. Within the app I set the system to auto, so when it detects any type of air pollution the purifier turns on at the necessary fan level, cleans the air, and turns back off. The fan has four settings, off, low, medium and high. You can manually control the fan speed, however I'm sold on the ability of the purifier to identify air quality and turn on/off as appropriate.
As far as noise goes, this is extremely quiet, on the low setting the noise is similar to the HVAC running. I can have this on low, a few feet away from the couch and maintain a normal conversation. On high, the noise level is comparable to an oven vent fan, it is noticeable but not so loud as to disrupt conversations.
Within the app I can monitor the history and air quality for the following (definitions are provided within the app): PM1 - particles commonly caused by combustible fuels such as oil, gas and coal, PM2.5 - particles typically created by car traffic, factories, cleaning fluids, cooking and smoking, PM10 - particles generally dust from construction or pollen, tVOC - total sum of chemicals in the air emitted from such things as detergents, paint, perfumes, and car exhaust, temperature and humidity.
Each measurement has its own graph with a scrolling history you can review. I was highly impressed when I was painting a bedroom downstairs and the purifier, which is upstairs, turned on due to an increase in tVOC, scrubbed the air for the following few hours and eliminated all paint fumes. The purifier is sensitive enough that I can see when a cat has been in the litter box, as indicated by a small increase in the tVOC measurement, and then the quick improvement down to "excellent" air quality. I have also seen the purifier turn on due to cooking foods that give off smoke, and reducing the smoke and smell within a 30 minute window.
Other features within the app include manual fan speed and auto mode, the remaining life left on the air filters, the ability to set a schedule, the ability to interface with a home assistant (Alexa in my case), LED brightness of the control panel (note, most lights are hidden under an access panel with exception of one indicator on the side), air quality map, and lastly a child lock.
Overall, I can confirm this purifier works well, I am at the upper limit of the 750 sq ft this device is designed for. The purifier turns on when needed, the air is always clean smelling and has done a wonderful job eliminating litter box dust and odor. I highly recommend it to anyone with indoor pets, allergies, or who has concerns about the quality of air in your house.
