Really wanted to like this but final execution of product, lacking wi-fi and other features, as well as tall and gets stuck easily transitioning from hardwood to carpet.

Based on the way this product functions, I'd of never kept it if I'd of paid full price for it. However, since I purchased it as a Christmas special for less than $300, I decided to keep it. The sweeper picks up dirt and other debris very well. However, it gets stuck under things and caught on things quite often. Also, it doesn't maneuver very well on carpeting. The sweeper functions perfect on my hardwood floors but sometimes has a hard time maneuvering from the hardwood onto my area rugs. For $300 I'd definitely recommend this sweeper to a friend. However, it's absolutely not worth the $850 retail value!

The idea is great, set it up and let Bob do your cleaning for you. In practice though it doesn't work as well as we hoped. Programming it is the problem, nowhere near as easy as it is claimed and we're not there yet. And Bob finds going from hard floors to rugs a chore, whirring away until he has to find reverse. And he gets stuck against certain pieces of furniture. A work in progress.

Used 3 times and returned it. Swept same small area behind my couch (about 14ft x 3ft area) for about an hour until the battery ran out and it was time to recharge. Setting was deep clean so it should have went all over the living room. When it was on my 8x10 living room rug it wouldn't move off of the rug to the carpet, it wasn't a big drop off from the rug to the carpet. First 2 times it picked up pet hair, the third time I ran bobsweep it didnt pick up anything. It blows so hard out of the back side it would run over pet hair then blow it everywhere.

After a few weeks of using this Bob I am happy with its performance and the amount of dog hair it has picked up on both wooden floors and carpets. The larger-than-normal trap gets filled up, but it allows me to complete a cycle before having to discard the dirt and fluff. The only downside is its inability to figure out that rug fringe should be ignored. After blocking the edges of the two rugs I have with fringe, it works great. Also consider turning off the auto-edge detection at times for a smoother coverage of variable (rug and floor) surfaces. The instructions are precise and easy to follow.

How did I clean before Bob? Not as thoroughly

I've been hesitant about purchasing one of these until my sister had rave reviews. I finally purchased one & could not believe how much hair & dust it had cleaned off of my rug & wood floors. I used a regular vacuum & clearly it was not enough. I also love the UV feature since I've cats & am constantly cleaning. I did have a problem with the first one, returned it to Best Buy & they sent me a replacement with no issues. Also, Bob's customer service is amazing. It's a great addition & at a good price. I've recommended this model to everyone I know.

Lots of trouble. Where to start. 1. Never found its charging base. Numerous attempts to trouble shoot. I had to manually pick it up and place it there. 2. Has lots of trouble with changing surfaces from hard wood to carpet. Gets stuck. Sorry me in a circle. 3. Very loud 4. Remote is super complex. Way more than it needs to be which just makes it confusing.

This was my first robot vacuum, so I can't authoritatively compare it to others. But first: the things that probably apply to all robot vacuums. It gets stuck. You need to pick up the floor of all cat and dog toys, for example, just like you probably would for regular vacuuming. It will also get stuck under certain heights of furniture that it can barely wedge under. It also gets stuck trying to climb up onto our two fireplace mantles that are about a half inch high. And it will get stuck on any area rug with fringe. Now for things that are specific to this model. I use the exclusion box to keep it away from the rug with fringe, but this means I still need to vacuum that rug and sweep around it manually (I suppose I could just cut the fringe off). There really isn't a solution for the fireplace mantles and odd pieces of furniture unless I buy a few more exclusion boxes. We have a complicated layout on our main floor. Because it does not have mapping capability, it tends to do some areas more than others. It also gets lost trying to return to the base when the battery runs down. I end up just carrying it back more than half the time. The directions say to try moving the base to another location, but there are only a couple places that aren't in the way or visually incongruous. However, the semi-random pattern that the engineers designed it with seems to work pretty well. My advice isn't to watch it, or it will be frustrating. It might miss a piece of lint that it is very close to five times in a row. It will not vacuum an area the same way a human would, so you just need to get over that. The huge advantage of not having the mapping capability is that I can use it on all three levels of our house without confusing it. @@@@@@@@ Can other robots store separate maps for separate floors? I don't know. @@@@@@@ At least with this one, I don't have to buy three robot vacuums. Of course, when I use it on the upstairs bedroom level, for example, I have to carry it up the stairs to start it and down again when it goes to the recharge/find-the-base mode. This all having been said, the few times that I have to rescue it each vacuuming cycle and the places where I need to do touch-up manual cleaning still don't detract significantly from the enormous time-saving benefit that I get from using Bob.

I finally decided to try this at the sale price of $249. I bought it to primarily clean my family room wood floor. It just doesn't do it for me. It seems to keep going over the same area and in no certain pattern. I tried all the options. I even spoke with tech support. It also seems to get stuck on too many things. I've had to remove most things from my floors (chairs, plants, cords, etc.) before I use this so it doesn't get stuck. There is no possible way I could have this start on its own and come home to a clean floor. It will end up stuck somewhere. It can't even find its way back to its base. And I placed it in an open area all by itself. I tried using it on my living room carpet and that was terrible. It just made tire tracks like crazy 8s and zig zags. Looked terrible. Had to go back and vacuum it to get the tire tracks out. I'm guessing that all of these Robot Vacuums work the same, not just the bob sweep. These things would probably work fine in a square room with nothing in it. It also works fine if I stand there and control it by the remote. I can keep it from banging into things or getting stuck. Maybe it will do better for you. Mine is now just sitting in the corner. Great investment. Lol.

I bought the Pethair vacuum and was sent the upgrade to the Pethair Plus. I thought this was a good deal and was pleasantly surprised at the marketing approach. It worked because we wanted to like this thing, and gave it several "benefit of the doubt" with its dysfunction. FIrst use, this thing is LOUD. I heard it outside cleaning the yard kind of loud. No chance to have it run while your relaxing at home. It can be programed, so good. Run it while at work. However, Bob is like an toddler and needs to be watched. It struggles to go from hardwood to a rug, maybe 1/4 inch thick, not to mention going to carpet. It gets stuck and rocks until it runs out of battery. Another attempt it jammed itself under the couch and shut down. It will not stop when there is resistance to anything but the bummper. So the couch clears the bumper, but not the whole unit. It scratched itself up completely doing the same under the cast iron coffee table. It does this when it does fit somewhere clearly. It gets stuck under chairs that it cannot figure out how to get out from and kills the battery. Bob has NEVER run a complete cycle while I wasn't home to constantly redirect it. Kinda defeats the purpose of a self cleaning robot vacuum. The sensors do not work either. Bob has gone down the stairs at least three times or gets a wheel stuck over the top stair and turns off. I reset it and it goes directly to the stair to do the same thing. I take it accross the room and it goes back to the stairs and goes down. So far I have been able to repair the damage, but it can't take that tumble anymore. I have to set a barrier to prevent it. I would gladly return it, but it is damaged and I believe is past the return date. For the price of $200 on sale and getting the upgrade, I cannot complain about the cleaning power when it is functioning. It does hold a lot of dog hair and cleans well on hardwood and (when I place it there) carpet. I would be appalled if I paid over $800 for this thing. I would suggest to keep looking for a different product.
