    Bosch outclasses Whirlpool and Kenmore

This is, hands down, the best dishwasher I have ever used. I stumbled upon a great deal at Best Buy, and having done my homework, snatched up this machine when it was on sale and also included free delivery and installation. The salesman at Best Buy surprised me, quite frankly, with really knowing his appliances. The installation guys did a great job. More than that, the dishwasher surpassed my expectations. It cleans dishes beautifully and also is astonishingly quiet. Since we have an eat-in kitchen, this is very important to us. The Bosch does not have a food grinder, which makes me happy (one less part to break). It is easy to keep clean and operate. The racks are tight, and their design requires some relearning of how to load a dishwasher, but Bosch provides instructions on loading. (If my husband would look at the instructions, his life would be easier :) ). All that to say, I highly recommend this appliance. I wish every mechanical in my house were designed so well.

This dishwasher is efficient, quiet, and very good at cleaning dishes. Other reviews said it was hard to load. I have not had that problem. It is well designed and easy to use. It has many cycles to fit your needs. In fact, the only thing I have found that is not perfect, is you have to fully (and I mean all the way) open the door to roll out the bottom rack or it will come off its tracks. Small gripe for an outstanding machine. I don't think it is quite as quiet as some reviewers would lead you to believe. Yes, it is quiet. Yes, you can talk near it while it is running. But I have no problem hearing it in a quiet house. I fully expect to get a long life of good service from this unit. On drying. As far as I know there is no dishwasher that will dry plastic dishware well. They use heat to dry the dishes and since plastic does not transmit heat well; thus they will never get dry like metal or glassware. That being said, it does do a better job than my previous dishwasher. It has a "heat boost" drying option that I do not use that may or may not work better, but likely it would get so hot that it could deform plastic ware. For the limited benefit it may give, I have no desire to add more energy use to the cycles.

Lets face it, dishwashers aren't made the way they used to be and are certainly not as reliable. As a result, my rating is a relative one and not absolute. This dishwasher is not perfect. It has a bizarre dish configuration and an awkward silverware holder. It probably doesn't dry the best and the cycles are longer than you'd expect. The door does not latch by way of common sense. However, these are imperfections that we can all live with in this price range. Unlike the others, it does not leak, there are no drainage problems, it is very quiet, no detergent residues or loading issues, the controls are highly visible and has a timer...etc...and the dishes and glasses get very clean. Though it has not proven the test of time, I haven't had it long, on a relative basis this is a five star product so far.

I love this dishwasher! The first couple of times I used it my dishes were SOAKED! After reading the instructions, using rinse aid AND adjusting the settings for the rinse aid my dishes come out absolutely DRY!!! So far I’ve used the Speed60 cycle, as the instructions specify it includes drying. I will continue to explore the other cycles but so far I love it!!! Its definitely quieter than my previous dishwasher but I can still hear it. Dont overspend on a bosche this one is great.

    Extremely quiet dishwasher

This is an extremely quiet dishwasher. We actually often find ourselves checking to make sure that it is on because it so quiet. The dishwasher is also less deep than other dishwashers, which was necessary for us because our old diswasher extended about an inch beyond our baseboards. The Bosch dishwasher depth is perfect. Now for the challenges and what we did to address the challenges. First, some of the tines on the bottom dish rack are so narrow that our stoneware dishes do not fit. The dishwasher also does not appear to be designed for pots and pans and we have dishwasher safe pots and pans, so I didn't want to start hand-washing my pots and pans! We solved these problems by using the section with the narrow tines for our pots and pans. We also bought a different cutlery basket (Bosch part #00675794) which has two sections that can be detached. So, when we have a lot of pots and pans, we just use one of the sections of the cutlery basket, which gives us more room on the bottom rack. So, it took some creativity, but we now have a system for loading the dishes on the bottom rack that is working for us. This is an excellent dishwasher that gets the dishes really clean and is extremely quiet.

Love the washer, not the door latch. (Fix inside!)

This dishwasher has been fantastic in the week we've had it. Aside from an issue where the door would kick open during operation stopping the cycle unannounced. After reading up online I was not able to determine a fix. After some trial and error, it appears the top edge of the "box" where the latch is located is bowing when the door closes rather than the latch recessing into the housing as it should. I ended up fixing the issue by placing a 1/4 in shim between the box and the countertop. Now the door CLICKS shut and takes a more than a stiff breeze to open (like it should ) This may be an oversight by installation, or a deficiency in the design. In either case we are ecstatic about this item after the simple fix!

I've never had a Bosch dishwasher before, and when my husband pointed this one out I did quite a bit of research on it. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. So far, I love it. I tend to cram as much inside my dishwasher as I can, whether things are stacked on top of each other or not, and everything gets clean. That's impressive. It is a little bit smaller inside than my last dishwasher, but after experimenting with different ways to load it, I still get everything to fit. I read where people didn't like how close together some of the rack tines were, but with a little bit of adjusting, you can make any item work. I always turned off the drying element in my other dishwashers, so not having one is no big deal. Leave it closed for a few hours or overnight, and almost everything is dry anyway. The biggest plus? It is amazingly quiet! You hear it drain, but that's about it.

Love my new dishwasher except for the fact the normal wash cycle is 2 hours. Seems long to me, but it does get the dishes spotless. It is very quiet and has a stainless tub. The door is hard to open and seems stiff compared to my old dishwasher. All in all, I am happy with my purchse. We installed it ourselves.

Leaves Water After Wash & Poor Bosch Phone Suprt

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DISH WASHER IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO WIPE THE WATER IN THE DOOR AFTER EVERY WASH OR LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN WHICH COULD BE A TRIP HAZARD. I TRIED ALL SETTINGS IN THE DISH WASHER WITH JET DRY BUT DID NOT HELP … 2 Stars – Expected A Better Product & Customer Tech Support Service Main Reasons for Rating: 1 - Washer leaves behind lot of water in the door after every wash - no matter what type of liquid and jet dry I use. I tried all modes of wash…See attached picture…taken after wash cycle is completed 2 - Customer Service / Tech Support for Bosch is horrible and RUDE on phone ( NOTE - Best Buy Tech was Awesome but Product has issues) - The girl @ bosch said that all their washers have this issue and Bosch does not make heat dry dishwasher any more...strange... When asked to Bosch tech support for a better model with heat dry – they replied stating none of their washers have heat dry – She also replied rudely in a UK accent stating I just can not return because I do not like the dish washer ( of course I can but I choose not to since it’s a time consuming process to get a return / replacement done…even though Best Buy would suppor it..). I WISH I HAD KNOWN THE ABOVE POINTS AND I WOULD OPTED FOR ANOTHER BRAND OF DISH WASHER WITH HEAT DRY AND BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE... Except for above 2 concerns Bosch dish washer is quite and does clean the dishes well except leaves a lot of water in the door after every wash.

I bought a new house and downsized. The old dishwasher worked but I needed earplugs when it was on. I reviewed dishwashers and decided on this Bosch. It has exceeded our expectations. I have to look to see it is on. I got the one with the front panel controls. I can follow it through cycles. I have immune system problems and love the sanitize feature. It uses less water, I am on septic, and costs about $30 a year to operate. I read some people did not like the way it loads and I don't understand that. I find it easy to load. The top basket does not come out but can be adjusted up or down if you have large items in the bottom. The silverware holder keeps pieces from rubbing together if you want to use the separator. The top rack has a stem holder that folds down or you can lay a knife one it. The filter is easy to access to clear, but nothing is ever in it. The best part, other than how quiet it is, is that the dishes are sparkling clean. I love this dishwasher and the price was incredible!

I'm only a couple weeks into my purchase. On the plus side, the dishwasher can handle a lot more items than the old Whirlpool model that this replaced. The items always come out clean and the machine is much quieter than my old model. On the minus side, you must be careful sliding the tray out as it gets off track easily and it doesn't seem to completely dry the items when the cycle is done.

quiet and cleans well but major design flaws

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

first the good - machine is extremely quiet and cleans very well........but i'm sure other dishwasher's have these qualities too. the bad - serious design flaw on the bottom tray. if you actually look at the track for the bottom tray in a showroom you'll notice it's a recessed ridge so the wheels hang ~1mm below. 30-40% of the time when you don't completely and utterly pull the tray out perfectly and i mean perfectly straight out the tray comes off track. it's difficult to get the whole tray back on track as the whole unit comes out of whack. worse design i've ever seen in a dishwasher. my parents have a bosch and complain about this flaw as well. other issues are there isn't an actual lock release or handle for opening/closing. you just have to yank the door open hoping everything doesn't come off the hinges. again no door latch/release, etc. another problem is there's only 2 screw ports on the top side of the mount. if those 2 holes don't match up with the underside cabinet counter mount area (some are 2 split areas like mine instead of one long one) then you'll have to get a mounting bracket that runs the length of the countertop (only place I could find was amazon). dishwasher's capacity is quite small as well. if it wasn't so quiet and didn't clean so well I'd give it 0-1 stars. would I buy another Bosch product/dishwasher? Not a chance. Shocking this dishwasher has so many design flaws. don't take my word for it though - go look at in the show room before purchasing......i didn't and just read the reviews online.

    Great dishwasher with some quirks

This is an affordable budget dishwasher that cleans well, uses very little water and has 2 foldable tines (one in upper shelf and another in lower shelf) to allow you to place larger bowls or pans face down. PROS - Cleans Well - After a week of dishwashing, I only had 1 jar with stuck-on food. Ceramic, glass and plastic dishes & containers all came out sparkling clean! - Pretty Quiet - This dishwasher is pretty quiet (very low hum). I can have a quiet conversation at the kitchen table which is only a few feet from the dishwasher. - Time Display - I hate dishwashers with hidden buttons so I am happy to see this one has easy to reach buttons and a display showing how much time for each cycle as well as showing the time left to finish the cycle once it has started. - Large Silverware Basket - The four sections are large and fit more silverware than my previous Whirlpool dishwasher. You can either keep the grid pattern on the basket to help with separating the silverware for easy cleaning or else you can flip off the grid pattern for an open basket. - Half-Load feature - If the dishwasher is only about 1/2 full, you can use the Half-Load feature to wash your dishes in a shorter time. However, I found the shorter cycle also leaves the dishes more wet so I generally don't use this cycle. NEED TO GET USED TO - These are not necessary bad issues but they do take some time to adapt. - No heated dry - Most dishes come out 99% dry when you use the Normal or Auto setting. You can select Sanitize to increase the water temperature which in turn heats the dishes to a higher temperature which then causes them to even dry more. In addition, open the door as soon as the cycle is complete to let out the steam to hasten the drying process. This is comparable to the dryness of the dishes when we opted out of the "Heated Dry" option for our old Whirlpool dishwasher. - Must use rinse aid - We have very hard water. We use Kirkland dishwasher pacs. In addition, we also add rinse-aid (recommended by Bosch). Our dishes come out sparkling without any water spots. - Smaller & differently laid-out interior - Although this Bosch dishwasher has the same exterior dimensions as other brands, the interior somehow feels smaller. The layout is significantly different from my old Whirlpool. The distance between tines are quite narrow for some rows (great for plates but not so much for bowls. The best bowls for this dishwasher are shallow ones less than 2" deep.) However, the somewhat smaller capacity has not been a problem for us since it takes less time to fill up a full-load so I can start the dishwasher sooner. With the old dishwasher, we would wait for the dishwasher to fill out before turning it on. I got so fed up waiting for clean dishes after a meal that I would just hand-wash them. - MUST CLEAN FILTER - There is no built-in food disposer. As such, there is a filter that you would need to rinse with water about once a week. It's not a big deal since I only found a small 1/4" piece of lettuce in the filter after about a week of use. Bosch does a pretty good job of pulverizing other food particles. CONS - Wet Bottom - After each load, the bottom of the dishwasher is still wet! I leave the door open in between loads for it to dry out to prevent mold! If you don't plan to use the dishwasher for several days, I recommend wiping the bottom dry before closing the door to prevent any mold or odor. Overall, I like this dishwasher due to its cleaning ability and low cost. Most of its quirks are manageable with the exception of the wet bottom. Make sure you take your dishes to the store to try loading them into the dishwasher racks before buying it.

Overall we are happy with this machine. It really cleans the dishes much better than our old Maytag did and that was about 12 years old. The racks on that one were rusted and tines were falling off. I was assured by Best Buy that that will not happen on this new one...we'll see. The cost was higher than we expected to pay but after using it for a month and seeing how much better this one is at cleaning and not being able to hear it work (very quiet) we agree it was worth it. One thing we noticed is that we are running this one more often. It does not hold as many dishes as the old one, but again if they come out cleaner it is worth it. One nice feature is that the top rack has adjustable height and yes we do use that even though I was sceptical at first. Controls are simple to use. We just set it on autowash and when it senses the dishes are clean it stops. A typical cycle takes about two hours. Our old machine had a heated dry and this one does not but it really doesn't leave much water on the dishes anyway so we are happy about that.

WORKS GREAT, LOOKS GREAT and is quiet. But the racks are not; too many prongs that are too close together on the bottom and top racks. Who uses those tiny tea cup saucer plates anyway? Need the prongs further apart so I can fit a coffee cup handle through or place more bowls on the bottom...And the door flips up very fast so if you don't have the upper rack pushed in all the way your glasses break, mine did.

    Bosch Ascenta 24" D/W

I bought the Bosch after giving up on a high-end Samsung that required at least an annual repair of some kind. Everything I read about this Ascenta was positive ... it had 4.5 stars everywhere. It was on sale at Best Buy and delivery was free. But wait, there was a catch. When the installers arrived they informed me that Bosch REQUIRED a hard connect outlet for the dishwasher, something the salesman at the Mesquite, TX store failed to mention. So I had to fork over $125.00 for that which added considerably to the cost of the unit.. I'm not crazy about the tongs arrangement on the top or bottom rack. It just seems awkward the way you have to load the dishes. But on the full length cycle (a little over 2 hours) the machine cleans very well. And while it wasn't the quietest decibel-wise, it is a very quiet machine. Have only used it a few times, but so far so good. By the way, while Bosch may be a German brand the dishwasher is made in the US. Which after my experience with Samsung is probably a good thing.

This washer has met our expectations. It's SUPER quiet. Wash cycle is verrrry long but the quick wash does a good job, though it seems to leave the dishes wet. Drying the dishes is a bit odd: it uses condensation to do so. It is hard to know if the cycle you choose is drying or not because of this. Controls are easy to use, although to really get in there and change things requires pressing buttons in lots of weird sequences. Most importantly, our dishes get CLEAN. There are a lot of complaints that the door is hard to open. It is, but it's because the springs are tight. I'm guessing those will loosen over time, which is why they made the door tight to start with. It's really not that hard to get used to. The big complaint is the bottom rack. The wheels are small and there is no track for them, so when you pull out the rack it tends to fall off the ledge. You then have to lift the rack out of the basin--really annoying. It seems you can avoid this if you pull out the rack using the tall handle in the center.

It is a overall a very good dishwasher. I is so quiet that I have to put my ear on the door to hear it! I cleans the dishes exceptionally well. The drying is good except for plastics. I use Jet Dry Finish that they recommend, however. they recommend a different kind of Finish Jet Dry that I haven't been able to find. Not at Walmart, Price chopper, Amazon or on the Bosch web site. It was initially quite difficult to figure out how to operate it, but very soon I figured it out and it is really quite easy. The door for the Jet Dry needs to be re-designed so the amount can be seen. Now, you have to guess at the amount & it overflows often. The controls always say to fill the Jet Dry even when it is full.

It cleans well, and is very quiet. It takes almost two hours for the cycle to complete, which is not a problem. If it wasn't for the front display you might not know its running. The dish racks is terrible for fitting odd size dishes and cups, this is my only fault with this dishwasher. I think Bosch could have designed the rack post spacing a lot better. Familys today have an odd size collection of glasses, cups, and dishes. This seems designed for Plates and cups that are all the same settings and size. Its also a consumer reports best buy for dishwasher. So I am expecting many years of trouble free use.
