Solid Performance but Dishracks could be better.

It got very good reviews and, so far, it operates very well. One negative is that the dishracks are not very user friendly. Set up seems a bit haphazard and tines are a bit too close together for thicker plates.

Wonderfully quiet when running and gets dishes clean, but the bottom rack has so many close-together prongs that dishes and bowls don't stack well. Wish I could get rid of every other row of prongs.

This dishwasher cleans dishes very well. It however is not terrific at getting dishes dry especially on the top rack, But I have been very pleased with it being able to clean things without needing to pre rinse them.

Great machine for the price. The bottom rack however is not very flexible. Limited opportunity to reconfigure for larger items.

I replaced my Gold Series Whirlpool Dishwasher that was 15 years old with this Bosch.Consumer Reports rated it among the highest ratings. The racks are not user friendly and it leaves a white film on all my dishes making them look dirty.I have to hand wash them after washing them in the dishwasher. Only good thing about it is it is quite. But wish I kept my Whirlpool.Don't mind a little noise to get clean dishes.

I selected this dishwasher due to high ratings in Consumer Reports and elsewhere. Very pleased with it's washing ability and clean styling. However, there are no visible indicators as to how much time is left in the cycle. Also, the rack tines are a bit close together which makes it difficult to load pots and other large items.

Excellent cleaning. Really quiet. Price point is hundreds less than comparables. Unfortunate design flaw in the lower rack.

This dishwasher is so quiet you can stand next to it and barely hear it running. The lower rack is sometimes challenging to load with dishes. I wish there were options to collapse some of the prongs. I'm learning to deal with it.

    Best dishwasher we've ever had

This is our 3rd dishwasher since 1999. The one that came with the house was a GE profile, which had numerous problems but mostly control panel breakdowns. The replacement was a Maytag, which was noisy and experienced hardware breakdowns quickly. This Bosch Ascenta is amazingly quiet and performs great. The only knock is that its smaller racks don't accommodate pots and pans as well.

I chose this bosch ascenta dishwasher because it got the top rating from consumer reports. Quietness is my top requirement. Thisr epaced a -ten yr old Siemens(basicially a bosch in sheep's clothing) that was also quiet I like the loading pattern of new bosch. Cleans well, What don't I like: wish the bottom rack was not so inclined to jump the stops and fly off the rails, but have to find the time to have a service person look at it. I say go for it if you want a bosch. Has nylon racks which won't chip or peel and leave you with rust spots on dishes.

Good dishwasher especially for the money

This is a really good dishwasher especially for the money. It looks great and is pretty compact, front to back and top to bottom if you have a tighter fit. It cleans very well, and drys well including plastic like tupperware. It is also very quiet. The prongs allow for efficient use of space and fits our tall (pint) glasses. Some cons- The auto cycle is fairly long it seems. When the dishwasher finishes it beeps, but then it beeps every thirty minutes or so until you open it. The top rack is not adjustable, the filter is not self cleaing All in all we are very happy with our purchase and would purchase again.

Bought because of Consumer Reports high rating. Bottom rack falls off track. Best Buy tech said design flaw. Loading design isn't efficient. 1 1/2 yrs & now doesn't work. Warranty only 1 yr. 1st mistake picking this model & 2nd mistake not getting Geek protection. Never had a dishwasher that broke so didn't think we needed for top rated model Does clean well when it worked.

Will Bosch Ever Get On Track?!

This model gets high marks for wash quality, speed, and quietness and dismal marks for design elements. The lower rack frequently jumps the track whether it is empty or full (but it is worse when it is full). I have read reviews dating back over five years complaining about this problem that could easily be rectified with a slight design change on the door and deeper wheel grooves- but this an issue that has been ignored by the maker on multiple models for many years. Really Bosch?! Also, the interior appears to have been designed and configured by someone who has never actually loaded a dishwasher or used substantial glasses, mugs, deep bowls or curved large plates. Unfortunately I did little research before purchasing because my brother recommended this model so highly. Of course he highlighted the wash quality and quietness but he obviously has never loaded the thing or his recommendation would not have been so stellar. I wish I had my trouble-free KA back but someone tripped and bent the door. I thought a Bosch would be an upgrade but the only upgrade has been to my frustration level. I would not recommend this product to a friend without a clear assessment of the frustrating cons.

Insufficient for a family of 4

I bought this dishwasher based on its review from Consumer Reports. I can't believe they steered me so wrong. This dishwasher is tiny! We are a family of 4 and I'm having to run it at lease twice a day. I've had this dishwasher for a week and I'm returning it. It cannot hold all the dishes from cooking and eating a meal, meaning one meal for our family equates to two loads in this dishwasher. Other reviews have said this dishwasher gets the dishes really clean. One reason why is that the racks and tines are so weird that you can barley fit your dishes in it so the dishwasher it not full when you run a load. The entire machine is small and the tines are set so close that my plates don't fit and I definitely couldn't get a pot or large pan in it. If you are a couple this dishwasher may be good for your needs but it is insufficient for a family.

This model has the controls on top. You have to open the door to turn it on or to make a change, pause, etc. While it looks nice, this is inconvenient. If you pause it while in progress, you have to make sure it continues when you shut the door. I have gone back hours later to find that it didn't complete the wash, though I did push the continue button. Delay wash has never worked. The racks come off track very easily. The dishes get clean and I love Bosch. My last one had the controls outside the machine. It worked better. I don't think I would recommend this model. I would recommend the brand.

I checked many reviews and finally decided on this bosch because it had good reviews and was a consumer reports best buy for mid-price dishwashers. The Good; This dishwasher cleans very well. My dishes and utensils come out perfectly clean. It is also very quiet running. My husband even started to open it to but a cup in and didnt realize that it was already running. The Bad: While the top rack is adjustable, it only adjusts down. This means I have been unable to load cookie sheets and pots and pans as they interefere with the spray arm. I am also unable to load them in the top rack with the rack lowered. I have had to do pots pans and sheets by hand since installing this dishwasher. It also feels like the racks are smaller than my old dishwasher. Perhaps this is because of the additional insulation, which makes it quieter? I like the dishwasher, but don't like that my cookware will not fit in.

    Love this dishwasher!

I LOVE THIS DISHWASHER! Seriously, I want everyone I know to buy it. We had a brand new Samsung that broke 3 times in 15 months. So we decided to stop paying $200 every 5 months to fix it (not to mention being out a dishwasher for 2 weeks while they order the part) and just replaced it with this one. It IS smaller than our last one, but it doesn't really bother me since it cleans SO well. It gets everything, and I do mean everything off my dishes. And I'm not one of those people that cleans my dishes before I put them in. I believe that defeats the purpose of having a dishwasher if I'm going to wash them first. I can wash pots and pans and cookie sheets in here too. I love that I can change the height of the top rack too, which I could do on my last one but it's easier to do on this one. The silverware rack is a little small, but I think they put the different heights in the slots so the silverware pieces wouldn't stick together. It helps them get cleaner. It's super quiet. It has the removable filter but I have yet to have to clean it out. I love the cycle options (esp the half load one). It doesn't get my dishes totally dry when it's done, although my other one didn't either so I was used to that. And I live in a dry climate so it never takes my dishes long to dry anyway.

This is the first appliance I purchased online without looking at it first. I read the Consumer Report reviews and customer reviews. This unit was ranked high by consumer reports and for the most part by Best Buy customers. I accepted delivery and installed the unit. I wasn't impressed with the quality of the basic construction. The trays roll out awkwardly and do not seem to be that sturdy. The unit seemed to be quite fragile. I was disappointed after I installed the unit and ran it for the first time. It is much noisier than the Samsung unit I replaced that was 3 years old. The noise part I can live with though as long as the unit works well and cleans the dishes. I started to load the unit for the first time on the day I installed it and came across a major problem. I loaded standard dinner dishes , 11" diameter in the bottom rack. I quickly realized that the upper rack's spray arm hits the dinner dishes and will not rotate. This caused the unit to stop working with no error code. Now, I have been loading dishwashers for 20 years and I have always placed the dinner dishes vertical in the tines. The Bosch user guide even shows that they are to be loaded vertical. It doesn't work if you do. I couldn't believe this. I thought I must be missing something. I called Bosch customer service and spoke to a person named Chuck. I politely explained my issue and was quickly addressed in a rude and condescending way. I really hope nobody will have to rely on this guy's assistance for a pleasant experience. I explained the problem and he told me that if the dishes didn't fit than there wasn'thing he could do. " I can't magically make them fit sir, that is impossible for me to do". I can't believe the response. I asked if there was someone else there that might be sympathetic to my issue and I was told that no one can make the dishes fit if they are to tall. He wasn't listening and didn't care. He was out right rude. After this I decided that I wanted the unit out of my home. I called Best Buy and they were very nice and told me that I would have to visit the store and arrange for the unit to be picked up and hopefully make another purchase to replace the unit. No problem here, will do this over the weekend. The instructions show full size dinner dishes set vertical as I have always loaded in the past. My wife experimented and has laid the dishes at a 45 degree angle in the rack. This eliminates the problem of the spray harm hitting the dishes but eats up a lot of room. We will see if this works and if not, returning to Best Buy. They will make the purchase right I am sure.

Needed to replace a nearly 10 year old Maytag that should have been replaced two years ago. Old Maytag was loud with rack wheels that constantly broke(I reassembled those wheels with my own nuts, bolts and Super Glue more times than I can count), adjustable tines that broke, rusted and had to be wired together to use and a flatware basket that fell apart. It was the Frankenstein of dishwashers. So needless to say, the bar wasn't set very high for a replacement. After reading and researching the various brands and models, we settled on this one because of the combination of positive reviews and price. Best Buy had it in stock, for the lowest price and the quickest delivery time. I purchased it online, along with the installation kit, on a Friday and it was delivered at 7:30 a.m. Monday. The delivery guys were fantastic, completely unpacking the dishwasher, carrying it in and placing it right in the kitchen in front of the opening ( I disconnected and removed the old one and put it out in the driveway the night before ) and hauling away the old unit ( not before I gave it a ceremonial swift kick to send it away to Appliance Purgatory ). They were so professional I slid them enough of a tip to cover coffees for each guy. I'm fairly handy and comfortable with appliances so I decided to handle the installation myself. But the truth is if you can operate a screwdriver, wrench, pliers, wire pliers and can follow directions, you can handle installing it yourself. I would recommend buying the installation kit, because it comes with a few different water inlet brass elbow connectors and plug adapter, which you will need, depending on your plumbing and electrical configurations. The washer did come with the drain hose and clamps, which I used, but saved some of the hardware from the old connection, just in case. In my case, I used the solid brass elbow to connect the pressure fitting on the hot water inlet, and I hard wired it directly, no plug. Leveling was pretty simple, as the three adjustable feet are easy to manipulate. The only thing I would highly recommend, that the directions don't mention, is regarding the brass elbow at the water inlet. After getting the unit installed, I turned on the power and water to it. I gave it a run on the express wash setting. I had not yet attached the front kick plate so that I would be able to see everything underneath as it ran. At the brass elbow, there was a small leak where it threaded into the water inlet. I shut it down, turned off the power and water and took off the water line and elbow. I cleaned off the threads, reapplied Teflon tape and put it back together. Same leak from the same spot. I took it off again and applied Pipe Dope to the threads, re-taped and put it back together again. Voila! No more leak. I ran it a couple of times throughout the day and all was dry. I left the kick plate off until the next morning. All was still nice and dry with no drips, so I screwed in the kick plate to finish the installation completely. As far as performance and noise level, we couldn't be happier with this dishwasher. Bosch does recommend the use of Rinse-Aid (which we used anyway) in running all cycles. We're still experimenting with loading schemes, but I think it's actually got more room inside than the old one. It doesn't look bigger on the inside, but I think that Bosch makes optimum use of the space with the rack configuration. As far as noise, I really only hear it when it's draining, which is nice because the old Maytag was so loud it would drown out the TV in the living room. Overall I'm impressed and happy with this dishwasher and recommend it if you're looking for a nice balance of performance and value.
