Quiet, but missing a few things.

This is my second Bosch; I've had it for 6 months. The first one broke down shortly after the warranty expired, and the repair was too expensive, but I had liked it enough to replace it with another Bosch. I did not have time to shop around so I went with this one as it was a Consumer Reports' best buy. Pros: it is very quiet, looks attractive, and does a great job of cleaning and drying the dishes. The top rack is adjustable, there is no exposed heating element, and is easy to load. It's reasonably priced. Cons: unless the washer is in a cycle where you can hear the water moving inside, it is difficult or impossible to tell if it is running without opening it. There is no display, only a few LEDs which are not visible unless the door is open. To start it you have to push a button and close the door within four seconds, but it doesn't always start right away which makes you wonder if you closed it in time. There is no display indicating how much time is left in the cycle, even if you do open the door. My old Bosch shined a light on the floor while it was an operation which was a great feature, but sadly this one does not have that. It seems like this is a very simple thing to add - not sure why Bosch chose to remove it! Once the cycle is completed and you open the door, there is a "clean" LED that comes on, but it is only lit that first time you open it, which can cause confusion if you live in a household with multiple people who open the dishwasher but do not unload it right away. Finally, the machine is preprogrammed to beep at the end of the cycle, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a quiet dishwasher. The operating instructions did not say how to turn this off; I had to call customer service to find out how to do this. I wouldn't say I am dissatisfied with this dishwasher because it is quiet and cleans well at an affordable price, but I would not buy this particular model again.

    Cleans well, but otherwise disappointing

Bought this based on Consumer Reports ratings. It cleans very well, and it's very quiet, but in most other respects it's disappointing. The racks are quite a bit smaller than the 12 year old Kitchen Aid it replaced. The silverware basket is MUCH smaller. That translates into fewer dishes that can be loaded, and the need to run it more frequently. To make matters worse, the arrangement of the angled (rather than straight up and down) tines makes loading large or odd shape items more difficult. In combination, the dishwasher holds considerably less than my old one. And the industrial designer who thought it would be cool to hide all the buttons and indicator lights should be sentenced to using this dishwasher daily for the rest of his life. There's no visible indication when the cycle is done, or where in the cycle it is. You can't stop a cycle without opening the door a bit, which increases the possibility of splashing water on the floor. The Kitchen Aid has a "clean" indicator light that stayed on until you reset it. The clean light on the Bosch goes out a few seconds after you open the door. Not a problem if you live alone, but if multiple people share the same dishes it's not always obvious whether the washer has been run or not. Just really poor design. If you want a Bosch, it's probably worth spending a little more to get one with an external display. Better yet, choose a brand that holds more dishes.

Will Bosch Ever Get On Track?!

This model gets high marks for wash quality, speed, and quietness and dismal marks for design elements. The lower rack frequently jumps the track whether it is empty or full (but it is worse when it is full). I have read reviews dating back over five years complaining about this problem that could easily be rectified with a slight design change on the door and deeper wheel grooves— but this an issue that has been ignored by the maker on multiple models for many years. Really Bosch?! Also, the interior appears to have been designed and configured by someone who has never actually loaded a dishwasher or used substantial glasses, mugs, deep bowls or curved large plates. Unfortunately I did little research before purchasing because my brother recommended this model so highly. Of course he highlighted the wash quality and quietness but he obviously has never loaded the thing or his recommendation would not have been so stellar. I wish I had my trouble-free KA back but someone tripped and bent the door. I thought a Bosch would be an upgrade but the only upgrade has been to my frustration level. I would not recommend this product to a friend without a clear assessment of the frustrating cons.

    Liked my Whirlpool better :-(

I'm not overly impressed with this dishwasher. After extensive research and strong recommendations for Bosch as one of the best brands on the market, we chose this model. After waiting a month for the special order and delivery, and paying close to $800, I'm rather disappointed. The interior appears to be smaller with not as much room between the racks as our prior model. The layout of the tines on the racks is very limiting -- great if you have only plates, glasses, and silverware, but good luck trying to accommodate a few serving dishes or storage containers. I also don't like the side silverware basket as much as the Whirlpool basket on the door. As far as positives, it looks great (very sleek and "high end"), is extremely quiet. As a side note, our previous dishwasher died, so we had to replace it. We took the opportunity to upgrade all of our appliances to stainless steel (bought LG range, microwave, and fridge), and the one thing we truly needed -- the dishwasher -- is the only new appliance that I don't love. If given the chance, I don't think I'd buy this dishwasher again.

Insufficient for a family of 4

I bought this dishwasher based on its review from Consumer Reports. I can't believe they steered me so wrong. This dishwasher is tiny! We are a family of 4 and I'm having to run it at lease twice a day. I've had this dishwasher for a week and I'm returning it. It cannot hold all the dishes from cooking and eating a meal, meaning one meal for our family equates to two loads in this dishwasher. Other reviews have said this dishwasher gets the dishes really clean. One reason why is that the racks and tines are so weird that you can barley fit your dishes in it so the dishwasher it not full when you run a load. The entire machine is small and the tines are set so close that my plates don't fit and I definitely couldn't get a pot or large pan in it. If you are a couple this dishwasher may be good for your needs but it is insufficient for a family.

This item was very well rated in consumer reports, as well as bestbuy.com - so I was actually kind of floored when I began loading it with dishes, and it began to smell awful! It is warm and humid inside of the machine. I read through the manual, to be sure I was following all appropriate directions. Finally I have ended up spraying it down with a vinegar water mix after it runs, to prevent that stench. It has helped.... but I am surprised that such a highly rated machine has such a gross problem. I've spoken with friends who also own Bosch dishwashers, who have the same problem.

We bought this dishwasher after reading reviews and checking consumer reports and it's disappointing in 2 regards: - even with the Sanitize feature on to supposedly dry the dishes, the top of glasses and mugs are very wet and need to be wiped dry. - the dish loading layout is not practical. You can't fit more than 5 bowls on the top level and the bowl/small plate section is too narrow for 2 rows of glasses. So if you have glasses, bowls and mugs, you can only fit 5 or 6 of each at the most. On the bottom level, the spikes to hold plates are so tight together and inclined in such a way that you can't fit any bowls of any kind, small or large.

Highs and Lows result in an average dishwasher

After reading this was one of the best dishwashers according to consumer reports, I bought it based on that alone. I've heard good things about Bosch, so it was a no brainer. Overall, I was a little disappointed since I expected it to be the best. What I like: super quiet, good brand, dishes are clean. What I do not like: water sits in the bottom drain resulting in a stench if not used for a while, a manual filter you have to clean out periodically, on/off button - why?, complicated button menu, smaller trays than my previous kenmore.

We had a bad dishwasher for years that finally broke. It was ugly, old, but it worked and held our day to day dishes. Then it died. The bosch was highly recommended by CR and BB. The unit looks great, and it was really easy to install (as I'd imagine most dishwashers are). The only (but big) issue is that it doesn't seem to hold our day to day dishes. I dont know if the tray/rack spaces are smaller, or what, but we can't seem to fit everything in it. We have to run almost twice as many loads to deal with our dishes.

The dishes are clean, pots and casserole dishes need more than the auto cycle. It is very quiet but I am disappointed in the fact that it does not shut off automatically when the cycle is done. This model has to be manually shut off. I am very concerned about this because I was always able to run a cycle in my old dishwasher and know it was off. Now I have to time when I run it because I must be there to shut it off. In reading the manual which is very confusing at times only the machines with digital readouts can be reset to shut off. Not one review not even Consumer Reports mentioned this.

It's fine, but the beeping is unbearable

It runs fine. The door feels a little flimsy. It beeps incessantly when it completes the cycle, and there doesn't seem to be a way to off the beeping even after spending a fair amount of time Googling, which is beyond annoying if you run it at night before you go to sleep. I bought it because of the Consumer Reports reviews, but it's the second thing I've purchased because of Consumer Reports that has made me raise and eyebrow wondering how legitimate their reviews are.

My husband and I were excited to be getting a Bosch dishwasher. However, it became apparent after the install that the racks are much smaller then our old whirlpool. The loading patterns they recommend might work if you only use dinner plates and a few glasses. Plus, the silverware basket is cumbersome to use and takes up valuable space on the bottom rack. We’re returning this Bosch. We upgraded to the 500 Series.

This Bosch replaced a very poor other brand...and Bosch proved to us to be superior in every way. Its construction is solid and the drawers slide out easily. And the automatic latch is amazing. Dishes are thoroughly clean and we love that end result. Did I mention it is soooooo quiet? This is not the top end model but it works well for us. Great investment. AND the Greek Install crew was wonderful and fast and cleaned up everything.

The machine gets the dishes clean-- but the controls are confusing and the dishes do not get dry-especially plastics. My main issue is that when the machine is loaded w dirty dishes and waiting to run, it smells! Never had this problem w a dish machine! It may be worth the extra cost to buy a higher end Bosch or different manufacturer. I bought based on CR review and am disappointed.

It takes two loads to match what we did with one before when we had a Kenmore. We are a family of 6 with 4 kids so that could be the difference. If your situation is similar then STAY AWAY from this compact model. My wife is already asking for the return policy.

The first unit delivered was DOA. The second unit worked for a week then would not fully latch. It kept popping open mid wash cycle. We have now had the third unit over a week and it is working as expected. Best Buy was good though slow about correcting the issues.

Wonderfully quiet when running and gets dishes clean, but the bottom rack has so many close-together prongs that dishes and bowls don’t stack well. Wish I could get rid of every other row of prongs.

For the price, I would expect the dishes to go in dirty and to come out clean and dry. The inside of the door is soaking wet and so are the dishes. Very disappointing.
