Customers enjoy the 300 Series dishwasher's quiet operation and excellent cleaning performance, finding it easy to load and appreciating the extra capacity offered by the third rack. However, some customers reported issues with a lingering odor, longer than average wash cycles, and occasional installation challenges. A small number of users also experienced problems with the dishwasher's reliability and heating element.

Not what i was expecting from Bosch

I wish I could give this dishwasher 5 stars, but i've had an ongoing problem with it occasionally - not all the time! - stopping mid-cycle, usually toward the end. Geek Squad has been awesome trying to get it fixed; they've replaced several parts but it's still happening. I just have to open the door, close in, then restart it. I does wash the dishes beautifully, and i'm very careful about scraping the dishes first. Bosch won't help at all since it's over 1 year old, unless i want to pay for a service call.

"Good" only because we haven't used it much yet

This preliminary review concentrates on delivery and setup. I highly recommend that you download and review the installation manual and the complete (88 page!) owner's manual from the Bosch website before delivery. For some reason the unit comes with the installation manual but not the full owner's manual, only a brief quick-start guide which has much less detail. Before installation take good pictures of the unit from front and sides, high and low, to confirm that a factory-new unit is pristine. Watch the installers and make certain that they move the drain hose to the correct side of the unit. If the hose crosses the full width of the back of the unit, it's wrong: That wastes 2 feet of hose length so that it might not reach the sink disposal or drains, it might kink the hose, and would likely prevent the unit from mounting flush with the front of common 24" deep cabinets. Moving the hose to the correct side of the unit is trivially easy so there's no excuse for this oversight. Also make certain that they install Bosch's recommended 33" rise in the drain hose between the unit and the drain or disposal. This is needed to minimize backflow into the unit. This also is easy to do, so again, no excuses. Make certain that they level the unit both front to back and side to side with a spirit level or equivalent tool. Keep in mind that your existing cabinetry is not necessarily square or level so there may be uneven gaps around the unit after it is properly leveled. After the installers are done but before they leave, carefully inspect the door with good light from all angles, high and low, and from the sides to look for scratches. A careless installer can scratch the door near the bottom when mounting the kickplate. Even a big scratch down there might not be easily seen from above. (Guess how we discovered this.) After all that, once it’s installed correctly: It looks great! "Normal" cycle but without rinse aid liquid cleans very well and, as expected, leaves some items on the upper rack wet. We wash stemware by hand, so we removed the two stemware attachments from the upper rack to make more room for cups. I had to use a flat screwdriver to pry/push their hinges off the rack. (Design feedback to Bosch: Make those attachments easily removable.) More comments later after we’ve tried all the settings and options and rinse aid liquid.

Very clean dishes and quiet operation

Dishes get beautifully clean however the engineering of this dishwasher takes getting used to. It is designed without a heating element in the washing compartment and instead relies on using very hot rinse water to heat the dishes/pots & pans so that they evaporate the water. Unfortunately, plastic ware does not retain enough heat to evaporate the water so plastic ware has some water droplets/water stains at the end of the wash/drying cycle and they get spotty. Bosch claims that using extra rinse aid will eliminate this from happening but I don’t like using more expensive chemical type additives, so I just use a dish towel to dry the small amount of moisture. I really like how well the top rack washes spatulas and such. Lots of room in the silverware caddy so I usually remove one of them. I must say that more of my dishes, bowls, pots and pans and implements go into the dishwasher now and come out nice and clean. I used to hand wash some of those things because they were more delicate and would not withstand the intense heating from the element in the bottom of the machine - no such worry now. Oh, very quiet when running especially when full of dishes. Our kitchen is right next to our living room and the dishwasher is almost silent except when it drains water, then there is no doubt it is running but the draining only lasts for less than a minute. Still learning how to fill the new configuration with stuff - lots of room for plates.

    It doesn't dry dishes

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this dishwasher as an upgrade to my existing one, but kinda wish I had the old one back. The dishes come out clean; however, they are soaking wet. I adjusted the factory setting to the max drying setting AND I push the Exrta Dry button and that does nothing. It's awful. I didn't realize that Bosch does not put drying elements in their dishwashers. One of those European "let's save the planet" nonsense. Can't wait for all that moisture to start to mildew down here in the Florida humidity. Oh, and other reviewers raved about the quietness, but I don't find it all that quiet either.

    quiet and efficient dishwaser

Very quiet. Efficient arrangement of racks. Has option for air or heated drying cycles. Good choice of cleaning cycles. The unit is very close to 24 inches wide so it is a tight fit in a 24 inch opening. The unit is deep and and had to be pushed completely against the back of the cabinet to make the door flush with the cabinet top. Price is a bit higher than comparable brands but the stainless steel and quietness is worth it.

Ugg ... it broke after just 13 months!

The good: Washer works fine, does a good job of cleaning dishes The bad: The heating element broke after 13 months (it is warranted for 12 months) ... so it cost me $350 to fix. I hate Bosch dishwashers! These things should be built to last longer. Will never buy another Bosch product.

Not good never finishes a cycle

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Really unhappy as literally from the first wash this washer rarely finishes its cycle without opening and closing the door between 1 and 17 (yes 17!) times! Called Best Buy who said call Bosch, get told “oh water is too cold in your area that’s why cycle won’t run” if still Same in few days call again! Never heard anything so ridiculous but do as told to play the game! Still happening told I need to have my installation checked! Go through this all ok! Get a call out agree something wrong can’t work out what, technician fiddles and reduces cycle length and the washer worked for 2 weeks, but now up To old tricks! Ridiculous! Having spent nearly $1000 dollars I’m very unhappy and won’t be buying from Best Buy or Bosch in a hurry as now have a complete and utter waste of money sat in my kitchen

    Smells of rotten eggs

I have spoken to supervisors at customer service twice. If you want dry dishes you must open the door precisely one hour after the cycle is complete. If you want a dishwasher that does not smell like rotten eggs you need to run the rinse cycle or the regular cycle every day. I never imagined I would be beholden to an expensive dishwasher and have a hard time believing that most customers want to spend this much time maintaining their dishwashers. Apparently the supervisors get calls with the same complaints on a regular basis

Machine is good. Install not so much.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

the dishwasher was delivered, but while previous machine did not require a regular outlet , this one did (not informed). So I had to reschedule install, and I rewired the same day. A week or so later, the install was completed. The dishwasher did a wonderful job, but it stank to high heaven whenever we opened it. We called , someone came out and said install was done right, so nothing they could do. I was told to call Bosch. I ended up reading on the web, that the drain line has to have a loop or a p-trap type bend to keep the odors from the disposal from getting into the dishwasher. I got a hose from a hardware store, hooked it up with a loop, and now i have no odors. If there is a lesson, make sure the installers know that there need to be a loop or bend. Otherwise, its a good dishwasher , so very quiet .

    Doesn't clean well

I bought this dishwasher based in part on all the good reviews and I'm sorry I did. While it's very quiet and has lots of room to load dishes it just doesn't clean that well. Every load there are some dishes that don't come clean. It's very frustrating. It's almost as bad as the 25 year old GE dishwasher it replaced.

Stay far away from bosch 300. Dead on arrival

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ordered brand new bosch 300 based on reviews online. Professionally installed to the manual recommendations. Hot water valve, all hooks ups etc were fine.. Water wouldn't get hot in the dishwasher. Soap wouldn't dissolve. Dishes stayed dirty and wet. Most likely a faulty heating element or thermostat. Bosch customer service was useless. Couldn't come out for weeks and threatened to charge for the visit if they didn't think it was their fault. Luckily I was within return period. Went with kitchenaid instead. Buyer beware. You've been warned.

Hi DonP, we're sorry to hear you're not getting the best drying results from this dishwasher model. Here are some tips that should help: 1. Use Finish® Jet Dry® rinse aid to help dishes dry faster. 2. For everyday use, we recommend Auto Cycle, which is best for mixed loads of dishes with varying amounts of food soil. 3. Select special drying options like "Sanitize and Extra Dry". Sanitize operates at a higher temperature to help eliminate bacteria and enhance drying results. 4. When unloading clean dishes, pull out lower racks first to avoid dripping water from the upper rack. If these tips do not help improve drying, please contact our Customer Support team at 1-800-944-2904 for additional assistance. Thank you. BoschAppliancesUSA

E24 Error Code right off the bat

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is a piece of junk! I bought this dishwasher brand new to replace my old dishwasher that sounds like a lawnmower but has no problems washing. It is installed by BB Geek Squad but they didn't check the function since my water shut off valve started leaking after installation. I have the shut off valve fixed later and excited to use my BRAND NEW DISHWASHER. And lo and behold, in less than 2 minutes I have the E24 ERROR CODE. Check it online ad did everything they said and the E24 code still showing. My old dishwasher drains without any problem and this $700 Boesh gave me problem right away. I checked online and this is a very common Boesh dishwasher issue. If it is common, why can't Boesh eliminate this issue before selling their products? Very frustrating!
