have been using this for 6 months - cleans well - but major problems the dishes are always wet after washing , the silverware is wet - i've tried using extra dry cycle - no help - even after opening the door and letting it air dry , everything is still wet 4 hours later - bosch customer service was rude and arrogant the silverware rack leaves marks on the stainless steel flatware look elsewhere - no drying element on this dishwasher I would not buy again

I just moved to my new house, so the smell that comes out of the machine could be pluming related, but it does smell when you have the door closed for a day. I bought it specifically because the sales man said it won't smell. Stinks.

A basic dishwasher that gets the job done quietly. Stacking possibilities seem average but silverware has plenty of space. The door has to be opened all the way and that is problematic if you want to grab item. Haven't had it long enough to judge reliability.

Great product. Like the adjustable racks and quiet operation. Venting could be better as condensation doesn't seem to evaporate with leaving door open for a bit. But overall a great purchase.

This dishwasher does a great job. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because you have to crack the door when it is finished, so that it drys all the way. The door will not stay cracked so I Use a towel to keep it cracked. Love, Love the top silverware rack and the high handle on the bottom rack. Makes a huge difference on my back.

I can pack lots of dishes in this dishwasher. I didn't need the top rack/utensil holder and took it out. Cleans very well. Not the quietest Bosch in their line, but I think it's plenty quiet. As always, I've to open up the washer when it's done, shake out the water from the plastics, and leave the door open to dry. But I've always had to do that with my plastic containers.

Nice dishwasher - door has protective plastic film

We've had this dishwasher for over one year and are well satisfied. The only comment I'd like to make is something that recently happened. For no apparent reason, a small piece of plastic material showed up on middle of the door. It was like a small bubble about the size of a dime. There did not seem to be any way to remove it. After researching the problem, I found that the door surface has a protective plastic film that the installers never mentioned or removed and is not mentioned in the manual. It was easy to remove and the door now looks better than ever.

I have used it now three times after changing every possible setting to get my dishes dry. Using "extra dry" and "extend drying time" it is finally doing a decent job drying my dishes, but still with limitations. I can NOT confirm any kind of smell from the machine. It is very quiet, which is nice as I have an open floor plan from the kitchen to the living and dining room. I also had to change the setting for "auto off", otherwise the display will blink for 2 hours after the cycle is done. It now shuts off after 1 minute. The door concerns me, it latches too easy, leaving it slightly open hardly ever works, every little touch and it locks. But at least it cleans the dishes very well.

This dishwasher is very quiet and so far has been working great and cleans well. Having the 3rd cleaning rack at the top for silverware frees up a lot of space below for more dishes. For what it costs, some parts of it do seem a little cheap, like the door cover and the various seals around the unit. In addition, for the price of this dishwasher I did'nt appreciate having to purchase a power cord adapter. This dishwasher came with wires into a junction box that needs to be mounted inside your cabinet. In order to plug it into the wall to power it you have to buy a separate cord with a plug on one end and wire it to the junction box. It should have been included. Also should not have had to purchase separately the 90 degree water valve adapter to connect the water line to the dishwasher.

Really unhappy as literally from the first wash this washer rarely finishes its cycle without opening and closing the door between 1 and 17 (yes 17! @@@@@@@ times! Called Best Buy who said call Bosch, get told "oh water is too cold in your area that's why cycle won't run" if still Same in few days call again! Never heard anything so ridiculous but do as told to play the game! Still happening told I need to have my installation checked! Go through this all ok! Get a call out agree something wrong can't work out what, technician fiddles and reduces cycle length and the washer worked for 2 weeks, but now up To old tricks! Ridiculous! Having spent nearly $1000 dollars I'm very unhappy and won't be buying from Best Buy or Bosch in a hurry as now have a complete and utter waste of money sat in my kitchen

Read a lot of reviews before deciding to buy this Bosch dishwasher. It's a pretty quiet machine and cleans very well. However, it's kind of annoying that it doesn't vent out the steam. I need to make sure that I open the door after the cycle is complete; otherwise, there is a lot of condensation on the door and the interior starts to smell moldy. Also, the interior is considerably smaller than our last dishwasher--even after you take out the ridiculously large silverware container (and use the top slide out tray instead). I bought the model with the display on the front panel, so no red dot on the floor. It's easy to use and completes the cycle in about 2 1/2 hours (normal cycle with sanitize and extra heat dry). The dishes do come out dry, the only water on them is the small amount deposited on the bottom rim of our coffee mugs. For the price range it still might be one of the better ones out there. Finally, I totally recommend purchasing (whatever you finally decide to get) from Best Buy--their service technicians who installed it were very friendly, professional, and took additional steps (at no additional charge) to insure proper installation.

Why didn't I buy a new dishwasher sooner?

My 25-year-old dishwasher was "good enough" and it "worked" ......no need to replace it, I said. Until, it started leaking water out of the front door. I bought this same Bosch dishwasher for my British Columbia cabin in 2014. I liked it well enough to buy the same model to replace my old Kenmore dishwasher and I ask my self, "why didn't I do this years ago?" The glasses are clean and without pools of water on top. The inside of the dishwasher is huge and it takes me (1 person) about a week to fill it up to run a full dishwasher. The organization of the silverware tray makes unloading even faster. The dishes are spotless. And yes, I have to put my ear to the door to make sure it is running.......it is exceptionally quiet. I love it!!! For people that think the 120-minute cycle takes too long, they can use the quick cycle. But in the end, who cares how long the cycle is? Especially when it does a fantastic job.

Horrible Dishwasher, 5 months in for our new SHEM63W52N and it still has a toxic melting plastic smell when it runs, and even worse when you open the door to let your soaking wet dishes dry. @@@@@@@@ You need to turn the fan on above the stove as well as open a couple windows in the kitchen help make it breathable) Have talked to Bosch countless times, they even sent a Bosch Technician to come and look at it. He was going to recommend to Bosch to replace the unit, but suggested we take the machine back to place of purchase. It took almost a month for the Tech to come and look at it, so my hope of returning was gone. That is also if I wanted to take a loss of paying a restocking fee. I am now stuck with a dishwasher that we can not use. Dishes do not fit in well, cereal bowls and plates must go in the bottom rack because bowls and saucers break in the top rack when it is up, but if top rack is lowered it bashes my Corelle plates (not over sized plates) in the bottom thus not rotating the spray arm. Drinking glasses do not fit on top rack, cookie sheets, casserole pans, pots and cutting boards do not fit in bottom. Soap just sticks to the top rack handle and does not dissolve/break down for proper washing. Even used the Finish detergent that Bosch told me to use because other ones were not working correctly. @@@@@@@@ Just as bad if not worse) Water does not heat hotter the the Hot tap water that first goes in. We have done the Vinegar and baking soda over a dozen times like Bosch recommended and still no luck. Everything needs to be dried off with towels because it is soaking wet, and then you need to dry the inside of the machine as well as the door. We will no longer be using this machine that is now taking up space in my kitchen, It has even started to make the stainless steel cutlery, utensils, and even bowls to go rusty. We will not be purchasing anything from Bosch again,, and they have been of no help, to fix this problem.

Had heard Bosch had great dishwashers and based on reviews here made the purchase and have had buyers remorse since. The dishwasher is tested in the facility and then packed up. Based on the dates included with the packaging water has been sitting inside the machine for two months since manufacturing. The horrible smell when opening the door from day one has yet to subside. There were puddles on my floor when installing. I'm all for testing the product, but shouldn't you allow it to dry before packaging and shipping to a customer. . This dishwasher smells foul when empty, it's not food I've left in there. It has smelled from day one. I've used the extra dry button and still the back of the dishwasher is wet, as well as the door at the end of a cycle. I'm using the recommended products, as well as a drying agent. I've made sure the drain line has a high loop so I'm not getting sewer gas. My previous dishwasher of 18 years was installed the same way and never smelled. It is a very quiet unit but that is the best I can say about my Bosch. The smell has overshadowed any other features on this dishwasher. Unfortunately, I missed the 15 day return policy as my husband was out of town and the until couldn't be installed immediately after purchase. Before taking the leap, I would search for Bosch dishwasher smell. I really wanted to love this dishwasher, but have been very unhappy.

    First impressions

Just installed this unit myself a few days ago. I can't speak to longevity obviously but will give my first impressions after installing and running the washer a couple times. Will update if I run into any issues down the line! The install went mostly smooth, with a few hiccups: - You will need to purchase a few additional parts required to install the dishwasher. These seem like they could easily be included so I'm a little confused why they aren't, especially the electric strain relief clamp. The other pieces you will need are a water hookup adapter and a hot water line if you don't already have one or you want to replace it. - All of the hose connections and electric cord hookup are in the same viscinity in the back of the unit. This made somewhat of a mess of everything being stuffed in the back, and the hoses and cords got pretty squished when putting it in place. Hopefully nothing is too strained or kinked, I can't really tell whats happening back there now that the washer is in place. - The Bosch line has a few different versions of kick plates for the front of the unit. Pretty sure they included the wrong one for my model. The screw holes didn't line up and my install kit included brackets that this version of kick plate doesn't use. Not a huge deal, but mildly annoying and the plate is just being held on with one screw now. - The brackets to attach the dishwasher the the countertop seem a bit cheap and were kind of difficult to figure out. Seems like they hold ok for now though. Performance: - Love the sleek style of this washer and as others have said, it is freakishly quiet. The outside is covered in soundproof insulation which is a nice touch. Can barely tell its on when running. - Dishes came out sparkling clean and dry as a whistle. On the second and third rack there were a few dishes where water pooled on top or in crevices, but not a huge deal to me and most dishwashers these days are going to leave a tiny bit of water behind. - I love having a countdown timer on the front panel and the child lock is also a nice feature when you have a 1-year-old who loves to push the buttons :) - I was able to fit a lot of dishes in here and my large dinner plates fit perfectly. Haven't tried washing any large pots or pans yet but seems to be plenty of space. - Stemware doesn't fit on the 2nd rack, had to place it on the bottom. Not ideal, but small inconvenience. Would maybe fit if I adjust the rack height, haven't tried that yet. - Having the 3rd rack is awesome. It is one of the reasons we picked this unit and it is even more useful than I had imagined. Perfect for large knives, spatulas and other large cooking utensils that would normally take up space on the lower racks. - Silverware basket is very large. I consider this a good thing but I could see it being a problem for some people. I like that it helps spread out the silverware more to prevent nesting from overfilling. - The detergent receptacle is needlessly complicated. Seems prone to eventual failure in the future. Instead of a simple lid/latch, it slides back and forth and the latch seems a bit weak. - Door latch is also a bit strange. There is no handle to unlatch it, you just pull it out. This also seems prone to eventual failure and seems to be made with plastic parts. Overall this is a huge improvement over our previous dishwasher and so far we are very happy with our purchase! 5 stars for performance 4 stars for design 3 stars for install
