Gets them clean but is terrible at drying

After every cycle we have to open the door to allow them to dry. We use finish as the dishwasher expects but the drying cycle seems to do nothing. My previous washer was terrible at cleaning, but it dried the dirty dishes it left so im not impressed that when we upgraded we expected a product that would would wash and dry. We also had it professionally installed by best buy so not user error of installation. The dishes in the photo were run yesterday.

Hi JakeinNH, thanks for the review. We're sorry to hear this has been your experience. Please know that your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with the appropriate teams for additional consideration. Your dishwasher is designed to dry using the PureDry® condensation drying system. This is an energy-efficient, closed drying system that does not pull in outside air or use an exposed heating element. This process works by heating the dishes with hot water during the final rinse. The cooler stainless steel pulls moisture from the dishes. The inside of the unit will be wet at the end of the cycle, but the dishes should be dry. It's important to note that plastics don’t retain heat as well as other dishware materials and don’t dry as well. To improve drying results, we recommend turning on the Intensive Drying feature. For any product-related inquiries or support, please contact Bosch Customer Care at 800-944-2904 for real-time assistance. Thank you. BoschAppliancesUSA

Almost a Month Since Install - Still Working

It's been close to a month since the dishwasher install was finally completed. The dishwasher is working fine, as you would expect at this point. The appearance fits into the overall kitchen look and feel. The dishwasher is very quiet - much quieter than the previous unit we had. Performance of the dishwasher is meeting our needs - the content are coming out clean, and for the most part, coming out dry with the use of the crystal dry setting. Also using the jet dry rinse agent which is probably helping with the drying action. The third rack setup works pretty well, but definitely is a change coming from a two rack setup in the previous dishwasher. Build quality seems fine. The rack feel a little more flimsy than the previous 20+ year old dishwasher, but they should hold up. Recommendations if you are considering this model: - Purchase a "clean/dirty" magnetic sign. The white light on the front of the dishwasher indicates there is a wash cycle in progress, and you can setup your Alexa and/or google home devices to announce completion of the cycle, but it's easy to miss and it's not obvious at the dishwasher that the dishes are clean. - If at all possible, install this unit yourself, or find a trusted friend/neighbor/family member who can do so. It's not complicated if the plumbing and electrical connections are in place. Make sure the water connection and drain connections are not pinched off as that will result in the machine throwing an error code. You or a trusted installer will be in a better position to ensure it's done right and working right compared to an install team with a tight schedule that needs to complete the job as soon as possible and move on the next install. - Make sure the floor under the dishwasher is not blocked by wires or a junction box from below. Our previous dishwasher was hardwired via a connection from a junction box on the floor. The design of the 800 series requires a clear floor surface. This prevented our dishwasher install for over a week even though all the preparation requirements on the BB site were met. - Consider using the side-mount method for securing the dishwasher vs. attaching to the underside of the countertop. The installers used the countertop and the screws were falling out the next day. I was able to redo the mounting to the sides and it is much more secure. - Make sure to follow the installation guide and/or make sure the installers do so. Be prepared to correct installation errors if you do not do the install yourself, or have trusted installers do the install. - Setup reminders to clean the filter on a regular basis, and also run a cleaning cycle with a dishwasher cleaning tablet on a regular basis. Performance wise, things are fine at this point, but what will really matter is how it's performing in a couple of years. At this point, I expect excellent performance for 10+ years - we'll see how this measures up.

This Bosch 800 Series 24″ Top Control Smart Built-In Dishwasher delivers on every promise. It’s incredibly quiet at 42 dBA, making it perfect for open-plan kitchens. The 3rd rack adds valuable space for utensils and small items, and the CrystalDry technology consistently leaves dishes, glasses, and plastics completely dry with a brilliant shine. It’s easy to use, feels well-built, and makes cleanup effortless. Highly recommended for anyone who wants reliable performance with premium results

After a decade of solid performance, the previous Bosch dishwasher started kicking out E5 error codes. Frequent cleaning cycles and ensuring the filter was clear helped, but with the upcoming holiday and baking ALL THE THINGS (I love to bake, and practice mise en place when I can), plus potential flu season, I did not want to risk a dishwasher on the blink. I love to bake. And cook. I do not love heaps of dishes. Had a service call, and the tech advised it would be better to replace the machine. Sigh. I searched Consumer Reports and this was the top recommended model. I hunted around for the best price, and Best Buy was the winner. Having bought my previous Bosch dishwasher, plus two stoves and a dishwasher, (not to mention TVs, phones, computers and peripherals), I was very happy to purchase from Best Buy again. The process was painless and the techs that did the installation were great, as I've come to expect. This dishwasher has 3 racks, as the previous model did. What is different: the top rack has flex tines and the middle is a little deeper. Can put small prep cups there, plus my mini whisks fit nicely. The flex tines are great for thicker serving pieces/large serving spoons and whatnot. The middle rack offers more flexibility than the previous Bosch, again with more options for height and additional flex holders. The bottom is ok. I liked the bottom arrangement better on the previous model. But I expect I'll get used to this one in time. Just a matter of plate/pot placement. This model is even quieter at 42 decibels (old one was 48), and uses a mere 3.5 gallons of water. I couldn't possibly do that washing by hand. The top control took a bit of getting used to. Still haven't figured out if there is a delay setting, and I'm not sure about cleaning cycles. But it does have the sanitize cycle option (a MUST if someone in the house is sick), and it does a pretty good job at drying plastic items. Glass comes out sparkling clean, and I've got the raggediest hardest water. I'm talking descaling faucets quarterly kind of hard. But so far, this Bosch gets right through all of it with ease.

This dishwasher exceeded my expectations in every way. It is extremely quiet at only 42 dBA, so you barely notice it’s running. The CrystalDry technology leaves dishes completely dry, even plastic containers, which is a huge plus. The third rack adds extra space and makes loading utensils much easier, improving overall organization. Cleaning performance is excellent, even with heavily soiled dishes, and it uses water and energy very efficiently. The top control panel and stainless steel design give it a sleek, modern look that fits perfectly in my kitchen. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality and reliable dishwasher.

Review at 1 month after installation: We love this dishwasher. Quiet operation, dishes are very clean, dishes are dry. Love the top rack for utensils and other small items. These are the reasons that we chose this over over options. Only 4 stars for: To use all the functions, app connectivity is required; I would like to be able to choose any and all functions from the control panel of the machine. Dishwasher comes with 3 prong electrical plug; I had to install an outlet under sink rather than use my existing hardwired source, requiring me to pull new, longer Romex to complete the install. Minus these, the machine is 5 star. Function, looks, quiet operation are all great at one month in.

I purchased the Bosch 800 Series 24” Top Control Smart Dishwasher (SHP78CM5N) a few months ago and couldn’t be happier. The build quality feels premium, and the stainless steel design looks sleek in the kitchen. It runs extremely quiet (you can barely hear it even when standing next to it), which is a big plus compared to my old dishwasher. The 3rd rack is very useful for utensils and small items, and the adjustable racks make it easy to load bigger pots and pans. Dishes always come out clean and dry thanks to the CrystalDry feature, even for plastic containers. Setup and daily use are straightforward, and the smart features (Wi-Fi/app connection) are a nice touch, though I mostly just use the control panel. Overall, this dishwasher is worth the price if you’re looking for quiet performance, excellent cleaning, and flexible loading space. Highly recommend.

I'm just a single guy. My research showed this $1700 dishwasher's build quality (Bosch 800 series) was overall the most reliable. I don't want to deal with things breaking so that's VERY important to me. It was very expensive, but I'm a buy once cry once guy, but I expect it to function perfectly also... and it does. The layout of the racks is WAY better than the 12-15 year old one I had. Amazingly, the top rack does a great job with silverware, allowing me to remove the silverware thing from the bottom rack. The second rack you can drop down the sides of the rack, which I did and these very tall 24oz glasses I prefer fit! Leaving the bottom rack for plates and big things, etc. I generally have reasonably clean dishes that go in, so I use the most efficient cycle "Normal". On my old I used no heat drying and just wiped dry what was left of the water... on this machine it must seal better or something because the dishes were wetter. Anyway, that's not a "problem" as I turned the drying off, but then I tried the crystal drying (or whatever the name is) and it works amazingly well so that's what I'll be doing from now on. I didn't care too much about quiet because my house is very old and my kitchen is absolute trash, and I have a window air conditioner, etc, noise isn't a problem. Having said that my kitchen needs to be gutted and remodeled, badly. The dishwasher wouldn't quite fit all the way under the crappy countertop and it sticks out at least 3" farther then it should. Also, the sides of the cabinets aren't really cabinet sides and are super thin (not more than 1/4") on both sides of the dishwasher. AND on one side this thin barrier is between the two doors directly under the sink, which are no longer there, because my cabinets are trash, lol, so my point is I have far less noise dampening around my dishwasher then you... And I still can't hear it almost at all standing right next to it, lol. I can't even tell it's on if not for the red light! This has been measured at 42dB buy reviewers... anything claiming to be quieter is irrelevant, unless you are sleeping right next to the dishwasher, lol. Finally, the LAST thing I want is everything in my house connected to the Internet so the CCP can hack my home network, lol... I do NOT want things like this connected to the Internet! I was able to disable the wireless and in doing so I discovered it was already off by turning it on, so I had to look up how to turn it back off, which was just do a reset. I hate messing with new things, I'm in IT and it's exhausting, lol, but I always download the manual and have it handy, so I have a system, and this was no big deal. But one reviewer pointed out there are features you cannot use without it being online... I'm not going to be using them anyway, but this kind of sucks... You should be able to control your machine without it going out to the Internet. This isn't a Bosch issue, it's ALL manufacturers. Aside from the that I am very pleased with my purchase, and I can recommend this with zero hesitation.

You won't believe how dishes and glasses sparkle when you take them out of this dishwasher. It's quiet and incredibly effective, and for those reasons we love it so far. I don't think it dries as well as my older one, despite the "crystal" technology, but that doesn't bother us too much. It dries well enough. Where we're a little confused is the racks, especially the second, top rack where we put glasses and bowls. There doesn't seem to be any way to position glasses so they won't bump against each other every time you pull the rack out and in. It's like the wild west up there, unlike our old one of a different brand which had spines in the right places and kept everything orderly. The bottom rack spines are very close together which worried me at first, but the dishes come out clean anyway so maybe that just saves a ton of space. So I'm docking a star for that strange second rack, unless someone can show me a system that I'm missing. But for cleaning and shine, I doubt you can beat this machine.

Cleans dishes well. Like 3rd top rack for silverware ect. So quiet that at first, hard to tell it’s running if not for indicator light on door. Crystal dry works but still leaves liquid on top of dishes where puddles can sit. WiFi text feature for operation status nice plus. Install easy. Water/electric/drain hook up in rear not underneath as with most or older other models. Hard to view after install if any leaks because bottom is closed off from front. I’m sure this helps with sound but makes final install check for leaks difficult. Posting this here as my Bestbuy install review of one star doesn’t get posted. Bestbuy install lacks expertise. At the initial dishwasher install the installers indicated they needed to remove my original dishwasher valve and put in a cheaper one for additional $125. I called Bestbuy and needed to wait 24 hrs until they reviewed the initial installers notes. After calling the next day they rescheduled another install days later and said they could install leaving my original valve in. The second installers came and gave the same story as the first installers. It wasn’t so much the additional install charge but as an engineer I knew this was not right. Both installers could only install one way and could not handle a slightly different set up. Hands must be tied by their management to only install one way. I have installed numerous dishwashers over the years, but however as I was recovering from a stroke, I had decided to have it installed due to Bestbuy’s ‘free install’ promotion. This proved to be a mistake and as such decided to have it installed myself. It is now installed with my original valve and working great. Simple. I also found after the dishwasher was unpacked that both the install and electrical box kits Bestbuy said I needed to purchase was not the case. Seems Bestbuy service and expertise is not there. Very disappointed and will go elsewhere next time.

Great dishwasher, with one design flaw

    Posted .

I purchased the previous year's version of this model... which was replaced by this version a few weeks after I bought mine! They look identical, so presumably this review will apply. All in all, it works very well (much better than what we had) and looks sleek. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is that you can't crack the door open to let dishes air dry. The most the door will stay open before it snaps closed is just over halfway open (see picture)... so the door is pretty much hanging into the area where you walk. I called Bosch to see if the spring could be adjusted-- and they said it could. They sent out a repair crew (under warranty, no cost to me), but the repair crew said that this particular model could not be adjusted. It's probably a $5 part, so I'm not sure why Bosch doesn't build that into this model. So now we have to either shove a dish towel between the counter and door, or leave the door hanging open. Kudos to Bosch for great service, but they lose a star for cheaping out in the first place... I've literally never had a dishwasher that you couldn't crack the door a bit to let air in.

This dishwasher does a fine job cleaning, but is disappointing. I had an amazing Bosch for 13 years, and decided to return to the brand when the old one stopped working. I contacted Best Buy chat for help with choosing a model--one that has a time delay that could be used without needing an app. They pointed to this model, which was more than I wanted to spend, but I went with it since they wrote, "Comes with Delay Start Button Yes-this model includes a physical delay start button on the panel so you can set it without the app." Unfortunately, this is not the case. You need the app to have access to many of the cycle--WHICH IS RIDICULOUS!--WHYYYY? People do not have their dishwashers loaded and filled with detergent and leave their houses & realize they need to run the washer from afar & therefore yay for the app! Why the heck are the options not on the panel when I am standing right at the unit? You cannot even run a light load with the app! I had explained that I did not want to use an app, and now have a very expensive dishwasher that has few cycles, Additional concerns: does not have actual buttons, so I'm worried that the touch screen (which is already finicky) will stop working prematurely. There is some flex to the door and it does not seem as solid as the one on my previous model. One thing that is a plus: this model is pretty quiet when running

This is our second Bosch 800 dishwasher after our first one bought during the COVID supply chain mess (likely an out of box unit?) from an online vendor five years ago developed a leak in the pump and the repair cost outweighed getting a new one. This updated 800 model is GREAT and we are loving the custom settings through WiFi (favorites wash cycle and reduced Finish rinse aid). One complaint is the WiFi connectivity drops easily and too much hassle to set up again so we just gave up on it as our dishes are super clean and the unit is very quiet.

You barely know this thing is running until it discharges the tub. I can't believe how quiet it is. Having the extra rack at the top for flatware is a must have for me going forward now, I can't believe how useful that turns out to be. Everything comes out spotless from glasses to pots and pans with hard custed on food. I love the movable rack and rack parts that really let you customize the space for a load, and the crystal drying tech is absolutely amazing.

I could have purchased this dishwasher from my employer but Best Buy offered free installation, and I got it installed before Christmas. The Bosch 800 replaced a Kenmore Elite whis is a Bosch under the hood so to speak. The Bosch 800 is a great appliance. I barely hear it when it's on, and my dishes come out squeaky clean, and my plastics come out dry. This unit doesn't have a heating element so there was a little bit of a learning curve with the Crystal Dry feature. . You have to make sure the rinse aid is filled so the dishes come out completely dry. I have now stocked up on rinse aid. I absolutely love the 3rd rack. I think it's great for the silverware. This is an expensive dishwasher but it's worth it. Bosch technology is awesome.

This dishwasher does a great job cleaning, and a better job drying than our previous Bosch 300 did. The adjustability of the racks, and the third rack, provide a lot of options for loading. It's also insanely quiet - I can barely tell it's running. A few things keep me from giving 5 stars: - I am not a fan of the touch sensitive controls. Give me real buttons any day. - The silverware caddy is small, although the ability to put silverware in the top tray helps. - the collapsible racks on the bottom actually reduce efficiency. Our dishes are too deep to fit with them up, but with them down, we can't fit as many plates. All in all, though, it's the best dishwasher I've owned. I'd definitely buy it again.

It's a nice dishwasher that is ridiculously quiet. Only issue I have is that when using the very top rack (designed for silverware), it materially limits the height of the cups that can be used on the cup rack. We mostly use stainless doubled walled 20oz cups, and they have to be placed in top rack at 45 degrees in order for them to fit. Not a big deal, but it certainly impacts how many cups you can fit on the top shelf. In hindsight, I would have likely considered one of the dishwashers that had adjustable shelves. If I could move the cup rack down a bit, the dishwasher would be perfect. That said, I would buy it again. Does a great job with cleaning and you can't hear it running.

First off, I can't give it 5 stars for the simple reason is that the light indicates only running or not. This was over a thousand dollars and there is no "clean" indication so other household members put dirty dishes in with the clean one. The light should turn green or something. Other than that we like the look and how it cleans. Very quiet. This is the first time having a third rack, I have really come to like that. It seems to hold a lot of dishes and glasses. Certain large or odd shape items are more challenging to place such as 13x9 baking dish. It is a bit expensive but I am not sure there is a better choice out there.

I had a whirlpool when I bought my home that lasted 11 years and it was drying as well so I decided to replace it. I bought a Maytag and did not buy the extended warranty for about $600 dollars. The micro filter had to be replaced 2 years later! And to fix would cost $500! It was so frustrating. And the repair specialist said that same part would break every 3 years. So I decided to purchase a high quality brand. I researched the Bosch, Miele, and Fischer & Paykel brands stood out to me above the rest. However the last two brands if something happened would be more specialized and expensive repairs. So it’s a Bosch for me day 1 looks great and….this time I got the extended warranty. Best of luck and don’t cheap out on this they don’t make them like they used too!
