We had to use a downdraft vent because there wasn't a good way to put in a hood; the previous owners had installed a Dacor downdraft but it no longer worked. Be advised that install will be more expensive AND it will require a Bosch blower to also be installed. While the vent may be in stock, the blower may not be in stock. Blower part # DHG602DUC . The sales people at the store should know that this is required or at least give some warning that this unit requires a Bosch blower to properly function.

Since when we purchased it no one told us that we will need additional parts to complete the downdraft. I can’t figure out yet why in the world they sell this separately, when is a useless pice of metal without the blower and the recirculating kit ( which btw together cost another $1200 ) . So obviously we had to order the other two parts and now we’re waiting for the delivery which won’t happen till mid January. And I received the downdraft mid November. So basically if you buy this piece of appliance separately, would be just a piece of toy for a toddler but useless in the kitchen. Very disappointed on Bosch

This is not an option. It says it is an option. It is a hunk of metal that goes up and down and does nothing without the blower motor. No one at Best Buy seems to know this.
