    Bosch Dishwasher

    Posted .

Invested about 20 hours in research about all different dishwashers plus multiple trips to local BB store). 2 month ago finally decided to go with this one. Since we use it at least once a day, sometimes twice, we had about 80 washes. Let me get obvious out if the way. It washes very well, its super quite and efficient. I would like to address few concerns that I had when I was considering Bosch. 1. No heat dry- it was a huge concern for me and my wife, since none of us enjoy hand drying our dishes everyday. The key is to use rince aid that they recommend. If you use it, drying issue just goes away. It's probably a good idea to use rinse aid even if you decide to go with different dishwasher. Rinse aid cost is $3.50 for 60 washes. 2. Smaller rack- I actually took a rack out of kitchen aid dishwasher in BB store and put it on top of Bosch's rack (and no, I wasn't kicked out of store). Last one was about 2in smaller in depth, while width was the same. If you have regular size/shape dishes, loading is very easy. Neither me or my wife had any issues. I was told that smaller rack is due to better insulation to help with drying. 3. No disposal- filters are very easy to clean (takes me about 30 sec) You do have to remove bones, etc. No biggie for us, since we were doing it already with our old kitchen aid. Nice features: Auto-wash: dishwasher keeps adjusting time based on how soiled dishes are, water temp, etc; outside countdown timer (useful if you plan to run another load); rinse and hold 9 min cycle (in case you decide wash dishes next day)

    Very Happy with new Bosch

    Posted .

We had to get a new dishwasher when the 7 yo Kenmore intake valve failed, filling the tub with water and emptying through the door seal causing about $1K of damage to wood kitchen floor while we were out of town. (why did I go with a $1K insurance deductable?!?). So when I read about the Bosch AquaStop leak protection it was worth $400 more than I was willing to spend. On my first trip to BB to start the buying process a woman ranted that the Bosch didn't even have a drying element. I thought who would buy a $900 dishwasher that didn't even dry? Then I read the brochure and now understand by heating the water in the end, along with the stainless tub the dishwasher employs condensation drying. So of course if you open it right after the cycle stops the dishes may still be wet. That has been true on every dishwasher I owned. On the other complaints, I agree it is smaller BUT without the heating (melting) element we are actually using it to wash more kitchen items, including plastic utensils and mixing bowls. Ours doesn't smell and the racks are different. Also don't ask the family to follow the silverware loading diagram (looks like a paint by numbers) and just flip open the silverware baskets. (Those Germans have a design for everything!) As stated before, VERY quiet and does run in less time because of the dirty water sensing feature. While the timer starts out 2 hours + it often is done in less than an hour. And that's enough time to turn it off before going to bed! We are unloading it now before bed so the kids don't have an excuse about loading their dirty breakfast bowls!

Great dishwasher if you read the instructions

    Posted .

I came here and read the reviews before I bought this dishwasher. I'm glad I did, because the first thing I did when it arrived (thanks to someone's suggestion) was to read the directions. If you want dry dishes, you have to adjust the setting to "extra dry." The directions tell you exactly how to do this. Also, there is a loud and obnoxious end-of-cycle beep, but it's easy to turn off. The directions walk you through how to do it. Thank you to the previous reviewer who explained this! Having said that, I agree with other reviewers: the top rack is too small. It's much smaller than other top racks out there, and the dishwasher as a whole holds fewer dishes than my old Kennmore. On the plus side, my dishes are completely clean (and dry!) and the thing runs so quietly that I think I've forgotten to turn it on. So if they would redesign the top rack, this would be a five-star product in my opinion!

    Fanatastic performance

    Posted .

I am glad I listened to Consumer Reports (who had this model and another Bosch as two of their top 3 dishwashers) and not to the negative reviews on this site. I don't know what these people are complaining about with the top rack. Of course if you have odd-sized glasses, mugs or bowls they will not fit as well as standard china sizes; that;s to be expected. This washer cleans so well the dishes and silverware look like they just came out of the box. Holds a phenomenal number of plates and bowls on bottom rack, and is so quiet you don't realize it's even on until you stand right next to it. The handle design is also a real plus; minimizes fingerprints which occur with bar-type handles. As long as there are no durability issues this will be the best appliance I have owned.

    Oustanding Dishwasher!!!

    Posted .

OVERVIEW: This is the most amazing dishwasher we have had in either our home or cottage! It is solidly built, attractive, cleans EVERYTHING, and is energy efficient! I would not buy anything else, and plan to upgrade our cottage dishwasher to this once finances allow - which might take awhile at this price. We also like the handle it has as opposed to a bar. A stainless steel bar constantly has finger prints. This is a reach in and pull down front door. Thus, all finger marks are on the inside of it, and not observable - it is ALWAYS stainless steel shinny and clean. The front panel lights are also subtle, but nice. We can simply glance over and see how much time is left in the wash cycle. This is opposed to many newer models with no front-side display that require you to walk up to them and look at the slightly hidden display on the top of the door. PROS: This thing cleans like nothing else we have ever seen! We have tested its abilities by putting in absolutely filthy dishes, and they come out clean. Pots and pans, with day old dried residue...totally clean! Older glasses and dishes that had gotten "foggy" stains due to our old dishwasher literally look NEW again - they looked new after just ONE wash. Amazing! I read some of the reviews on how well it cleaned, and even though it is incredibly expensive, took a chance on it. It lives up to those reviews and its price. We once put a day old glass baking dish with burnt scalloped potatoes in it. It cleaned all of it except for one tiny spot, which we got by hand: Unbelievable! Pull out the residue drain and you are good to go again. I must admit, we have gotten a bit lazier on pre-cleaning dishes now because they alway come out looking shinny and new (we have kept to using the manufacturer recommended cleaning agents as others recommended in their reviews so that might also help explain our incredible cleaning results). Furthermore, it has a number of great settings (sanitation cycle, 1/2 load setting, delayed start, pots/pans, gentle/china, etc...) and runs nearly silent. If you are not near it, you will not hear it. Our kitchen/breakfast nook flows into our living room, and when sitting in the livingroom you have no idea the new dishwasher is running. CONS: We really only have three, and they are far overshadowed by the pros in our minds. The first one could be seen as a pro or con. It doesn't have a heating element, traditional drying cycle. It drys by steamed heat only. That means it takes an ETERNITY to dry dishes. Expect about 1/3 to 1/2 the day to dry - yes it literally takes that long! We find we do a load overnight, and sometimes another load in the morning before work (we are a family of 6). This is a pro for energy savings and a pro for having no risk of damaging any plastic items in the dishwasher. However, if a quick drying time is needed, this may not be the model for you. It is also a bit smaller on the inside with smaller rack prongs than traditional dishwashers. We have found we can still get a good amount into it, but it does require much more planning/effort to stack it with many items (which we have to do, again because we are a family of 6). Admittedly, it does hold more than I originally thought it would based on looks, but it is still a little less than other models or non-Bosch brands. Finally, it is very expensive for a dishwasher. We have a nice home, and want to update it with nice items. However, dropping 1k for a dishwasher is probably making my grandparents turn over in their graves. We feel like we more than got what we paid for, but I must admit the price was horribly prohibitive and almost caused us to buy a different model.

    Impressed!

Great dishwasher, Everything fit will, the Upper rack is easily adjustable or removable if you need the extra space on the bottom. The dishes came out really clean, and yes, dry. Diddnt have a problem with glasses fitting as some people seem to say The turnstile that hangs from the bottom of the upper rack was a little wet, im guessing from poor return drainage, or since i opened it so soon after the cycle, but nothing drastic. Glasses and plates were dry, again I did open it right at the end of the cycle, so that may have been a little reminiscent. The glasses, dishes and pans were dry and very clean. Add to that, this thing is QUIET! we turned it on and came back into the kitchen to check if it was working, you cant hear it at all unless you really get close.

    Cleans well

    Posted .

This replaces our previous Bosch (12 yrs old) that we really liked so we decided to go with this brand again. This dishwasher looks nice, cleans very well, and is incredibly quiet. The downside is the design of the top rack--it is horrible. Our old dishwasher felt so much more spacious than this one. There are fold-down racks so that you can stack another row of coffee cups/glasses--a feature we loved with our old dishwasher-- when we put our coffee cups in and try to fold down the rack it turns out our coffee cups are now too tall!!!! Your cups/glasses have to be really short to utilize this feature. Every time I load the dishwasher, I long for my old top rack. All the other Bosch I looked at had the same issue. Would I buy it again? I'm still on the fence, but I do appreciate that my dishes have never looked cleaner (I use the recommended Finish brand detergent).

    Consider it

    Posted .

Have used it for approx 2 months and have zero issues. We "stepped up" from the $4-500 dishwashers and so far happy we did. Extremely quiet - really like this. It cleans great - we use the recommended products that came as a sample with the unit - it's called Finish Powerball - it has jetdry with it, but I would still recommend using the liquid jetdry. Put the jetdry dispersal setting on low (1 or 2) - doesn't use much and gives just enough for dry/spotless dishware.

    Is it on?

A huge upgrade from my 1996 GE. The purchase was over my budget at first, but I figured spend a little more for a little more function and quality. With Best Buys great financing, I can just pay it off over 18 months, no interest. This thing is whisper quiet. I don't need to turn up the TV anymore. As an energy usage conscience person, the appliance uses very little energy. A few complaints I have are that the dishes don't come out dry. I don't mind because I'm trading in energy savings with the lack of a heating unit. I try to set the dishes so that they don't collect water on the top of them. Another complaint is you have to find creative ways to place your dishes and glasses. The rack stands are pretty tight. Another great product that you should buy is Lemi-Shine at any local Walmart in the dishwashing liquid section. No hard water spots at all!

    Very, very Quiet Dishwasher

    Posted .

Its great when people ask " Is your dishwasher really ON?" Yes, it is that quiet. Dishes come very clean. Also love the delay, the dishwasher design and the fits a lot of dishes. The only downside is to make sure you turn on the extra heat option and turn off the beeping noise after the cycle is over. It is very easy to do. Just follow the instructions. I have used it for 3 months

    Quietest dishwasher ever!

    Posted .

We purchased this dishwasher as part of a total kitchen rennovation. I did extensive research before deciding on this model. Bosch is known for quality, and this does not disappoint. It is the quietest dishwasher ever! You literally cannot tell it's running! It does an excellent job of cleaning the dishes. There are several cycles to choose from to cover whater type of load you are washing. The half load feature is very nice for light loads. It does not have a blower which is great for energy conservation, but not so great for drying plastic items. Definitely use rinse agent, and program in the high heat dry. It makes a big difference! The racks are very different from my previous dishwasher, and are smaller so I am adjusting to that. It has a really neat levelling feature. You can adjust the back feet by turning a screw in the front of the dishwasher! This is an extremely well built, high quality, efficient QUIET machine. Not to mention very nice looking. I definitely made the right choice!

    Great at cleaning

    Posted .

The dishwasher cleans great and the dishes are mostly dry when the cycle is complete. The dishwasher is quiet but you can still tell it is on. The top rack is 2" less deep than the old GE washer that this washer replaced. Harder to place dishes because the tines are a little too close together. Has a learning curve to place the dishes properly in the washer. The front corners of the lower rack are angled which causes a lose of space for no reason. We had some glasses that were starting to get cloudy from the old dishwasher and they are slowly returning to clear. Don't know if it is the washer or the Finish detergent recommended or a combination of the two but they are getting cleaner each time they are washed. Overall I would rate the dishwasher very good.

    QUIET

    Posted .

This dishwasher is extremely quiet! My husband and I thought it wasn't working at first and then realized it was just really quiet. Removes dry baked on foods very well. It does not dry the dishes very well? But I have not finished reading the instructions to see if a different setting would work better? The quietness of the dishwasher was most important due to our open floor plan.

    this machine just cleans

    Posted .

We don't even rinse dishes anymore - just put them in "as-is" Dishes come out spotless - and dry. If any reviewers mention dishes not drying, they are just opening the machine too soon. Take a breath and let the machine do its work. This machine just rocks.

This is a well-made and designed dishwasher. It is very efficient and quiet. My dishes are clean and dry. It is smaller on the inside. It does hold a lot of place settings, but we find ourselves having a hard time fitting everything. That is my only complaint.

I LOVE my new Bosch Dishwasher. The dishes are cleaner than I could have imagined! And the best part is, how very very quite it is! I forget that it is even running till I hear it beeping to let me know its done! It was one of the best investments I have made in awhile. Very good quality.

    Be Very Very Quiet

Good dishwasher! Got this one to replace the Samsung I had previously purchased at BB. This one is much quieter and dries the dishes even on the top rack (problem I was having with Samsung). Worth the money and it's very quiet

    So very quiet

Sometimes you have to open it up just to see if it is still running - and totally energy efficient - drying takes some time because it is energy efficient, but it's worth the savings....
