Older house without a plug normally means hard wiring the dishwasher. With this adapter a nice safe and secure electrical connection is made.

It makes the installation easier and a lot faster. Best Buy's promotion supplied it at no charge with the purchase of the dishwasher, which made it a no brainer.

However it is not needed as the dishwasher came with a plugged cord that could have been used instead connecting to an outlet.

However, if you don't have an electrical outlet available and need to perform a hardwire installation, you can purchase the Powercord with Junction Box kit as an accessory. Just what I needed

During the install I realized the dishwasher did not come with the appropriate wiring to hardwire it in the same way my previous dishwasher was. Best Buy had this item in stock and I was able to purchase online and pick up minutes later. The item worked perfectly and wiring and installation was easy.

Miffed because it doesn't have the date of manufacture or a copyright date on the box / product. Without this, the contractor that came to my house didn't want to use it. Apparently pre-2015 versions of this product were recalled for safety concerns and without the product date, the contractors did not feel safe using it.

Rather than having to run wire all the way to the front and connect it there. This made it a simply plug in job instead.

I turned the breaker off and connected the hot, neutral and ground to their mates in the junction box and then plugged the cord (Male end) into the outlet in the new dishwasher. The junction box makes it safe and complies with the national electrical code.
