    Only Good if Wired

I have this 700 module and the soundbar 900... In my last house i had it wired because everything was already there to do so and it was hidden... I have since moved and need to rely on the bluetooth and this system has the worst connectivity i have ever experienced... The subwoofer pops and cracks at all times and sounds like garbage. I have spent several different days on the phone with bose and been through all the troublesbooting steps until they basically said there was nothing else to try and just plug it in... DO NOT BUY THIS FOR A WIRELESS SET UP. Unfortunately i have already purchased other bose household speakers in order to work together and now i will have to spend more replacing them for something that actually works... Again, unless you want to run a 3.5 wire to it, DO NOT BUY IT. Bose will pretend they never heard of this when you call, but its everywhere online.

      Hello,

I understand that the Bass Module disconnecting on your has been frustrating, and I understand you have contacted us for troubleshooting. I'd recommend trying to minimise potential sources if wireless interference, as the Bass Module and Soundbar communicate through a 5GHz non-Bluetooth connection. Our guide here https://bose.life/3O8B4pz for the Smart Soundbar 900 has steps you can try if you haven't tried all of them there, or please contact us https://bose.life/contact again for continued support.

This sub got to many issues for the price it's set at. This sub is the price of some full blown 5.1 soundbar systems. The technical restraints and price it's set at is crazy. You will need to hardwire the sub if you run into any issues with rumbling. Unacceptable for the price. Makes it hard for sub placements.

      Hi.
Thank you for your post. Sorry to hear about the connection issue with your bass module. The bass module is wireless. However, if you have too much interference in the area where it is located, it will be best to connect it with an aux cable to the back of the soundbar to address the issue. If you require assistance in the future, please reach out to us here. https://bose.life/3BgUIIU. We would love to help.

Do not buy!!!!! Sub makes a horrible popping noise. Sent it bose and they sent it back. Still does the same thing. If you are trying to use this wireless foeget it. Go with sonos. I have been a bose fan all my life buti am very dissappointed with this sub. The solution to the popping noise is to run an audio cable to it. The whole reason i bought it was because it was wireless.

Hello Jeff, if the Bass module is still popping after a repair, this suggests that the issue is environmental. If the Bass module or soundbar sits near a device like a Wi-Fi router, this can cause wireless interference and then the bass module can product a popping noise. You can prevent this from happening by hardwiring the Bass module directly to the soundbar, or repositioning the Bass module away from the Wi-Fi router or vice versa. Should you need any further assistance, feel free to contact our technical support team, who will be more than happy to help: bose.life/3rykPZR. Liam - Bose Customer support. bose

I have purchased the Bose 500 (two of them) and 900 sound bars, 500 & 700 subwoofers and 500 & 700 surrounds. The sound quality is superb. Exquisite even. Now the downsides. These don’t play well with TVs. I couldn’t get the TV remotes to turn the volume up on the Bose soundbar. With EARC you can have devices communicate things like volume and on/off signals to all devices. Bose is EARC “compatible” Not at all. I purchased 3 different brand high quality TVs just to get these sound bars to work. Really. I literally went through three brand new TVs so I could keep the Bose products. I connected directly to the TVs with a few different quality HDMI cables. I even had geek squad out and they were baffled. I use an Apple TV and I couldn’t get that remote to work with the Bose stuff either. I had to use the infrared on my Apple Remote to finally get the soundbar to work. Ya like 60 year old technology. So because the soundbar is under the TV and on a high TV entertainment unit I have to have direct line of sight between the remote and soundbar. This means my arm must go way up in the air to change the volume every time. It’s even more fun laying on the couch. The TV and Apple Remote are set up for Bluetooth. Beautiful. No more aiming at the tv. Till Bose. It sucks. Same thing for my Bose 500 in the bedroom on a smaller tv. HDMI won’t even work with the sound bar for sound. I have to use another old technology. Optical cable. It works but just barely. Oh yes and on both systems the updates are horrible. They get stuck all the time updating. Days stuck on the update. Meanwhile I can’t use any app features like dialogue mode. Then I have to play a game to get them unstuck. This usually results in having to reconnect the subwoofer and surrounds which is a huge pain. Oh and sometime it deletes the IQ feature which takes a bunch of time to set up too. I can spend an hour resetting things up because of updates. One last thing about their proprietary products. These can not be used with any other products. I went to use my 500 subwoofer in my office for my computer and it doesn’t use a normal input. So I put it back in the bedroom. It made me realize that someday when the soundbar dies I will be unable to make use of the sub and surround speakers. To have a soundbar go out and have the rest of the working speakers be unable to work is a waste of money. Buy Sonos instead. I’m going to switch to them on my next purchase. The sound quality of Bose isn’t worth the nightmare.

Despite Bose's reputation, their technology is behind all of their competitors. This sub-woofer, spontaneously pops and crackels throughout a show. If you Google "Bose subwoofer pops" the problem is all over the Internet. I suggest buying a Sonos before Bose.

The sound is really good when its working. There's a known issue with wifi interference thats not widely mentioned in common reviews. Once you purchase one and look up the issue because its happening, you'll see plenty of comments about it. At first, i thought the speaker popped, but the weird noise is due to wifi interference. So if your router is anywhere between the soundbar and woofer, you're going to have issues here and there. For the money you pay, you shouldnt experiece this. Unfortunately i purchased my soundbar first and now im stuck with the pair. If i could do it all over, i would get the sonos. Maybe wait for the 900 woofer.

I have purchased Bose products steadily for 15 years now, this may be my last Bose purchase. The 700 system was expensive as are all Bose products, but with that cost, you generally expect a high end product that you will enjoy for years to come. The 700 system definitely sounded better than my aging 3-2-1 system I replaced, which still works great, and was moved to another room. The problem is with the subwoofer, constant popping, cracking noises, it sounds terrible. Do NOT buy the subwoofer, which really is needed to make the 700 system sound good. Bose should have recalled or replaced this system. Wi-if interference issues? Possibly, who doesn’t have wi-if and connected devices in this day and age. Move the unit around - that does nothing. Hardwire the subwoofer? Who pays several hundreds of dollars for a product that needs to be hard wired? Overall pretty disappointing, I should have read the reviews but instead purchased based on the brand and past experiences, which I won’t do again. As for the sound bar, it sounds good, however Alexa is spotty and at times will blink yellow and stop responding, as if it’s rebooting. Ironically my 20.00 Alexa has never had an issue.

Hello, thanks for leaving your thoughts on the Bass Module 700. I am so glad to hear that you love the sound quality. Popping in the bass module will be caused by nearby wireless interference. This can be easily resolved by unplugging the system and relocating it to a different position in the room. For busy environments or smaller spaces, the cable can be connected between both systems which is virtually unnoticeable.

A quick reset should fix your Alexa issue. To do this, just unplug all cables including the power cable, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in.

Junk! Do not waste your money on this product, unless you like constant crackling noises. Bose claims you have to use a wire to connect the subwoofer to the soundbar to get rid of the noise. No clue why they waste time making it wireless when they tell you to use a wire. Bose has really gone downhill.

      Hello Robert,

Thank you for leaving a review. We are sorry to hear you have encountered popping noises. This is not at all the quality that is expected from our products.

Please note, in some situations, popping can occur due to Wireless Interference, as the Subwoofer is connected to the Soundbar Wirelessly. This is caused by having a different powerful wireless device close to the set-up, like a router, for example.

You can always reach out to our team for more information on how to set the system up in order to minimize interference. You can do so by using this link: https://bose.life/globalcontact

Bought this togethet with the Bose Soundbar 900. At first impression, this was the beat soubding combo ever! But within 20 min, a popping/crackling sound startef to happen. I thought it was a faulty subwoofer, but to much surprise, the internet is plagued with this same issue. Bose says its interferance with other wireless devices, and to remdedy this I should hard wire it. I did use a wire to see if this was the case and yes it so was. Sounded perfect and amazing. However, why in earth would something so expensive not work properly??? I didn’t want it hard wired. I wanted the speaker in the corner of my family room and running a long hardwire to it is just not a good look. I returned everything and wound up purchasing the JBL 9.1 which is way cheaper of a set. Guess what? The cheaper subwoofer connects perfectly with my desired setup wirelessly. The sound is not as great as the Bose when it worked, but a combo that ran aboit $1,700 shoukd not have these issues…. Sooooo disappointed. Didn’t go with Sonos ARC cause that Bar is too long for where my soundbar goes!

After having a frustrating experience with a Bass Module purchased in 2017, I thought Bose would be far enough along to resolve the prior issues that frustrated me. My mistake. Both modules had issues with a fluttering noise that sounds like paper at lower frequencies. It sounds like a super cheap rattling speaker at low volumes. I tried putting it on carpet, moving it, checking other items in the room, before I just picked up the sub while it was playing and realized it was the subwoofer by itself - the noise comes from the speaker when when it’s not in contact with the ground. This is the second Acoustimass Bass module in my house and they both have a flutter at certain frequencies that makes these expensive subwoofers sound like cheap paper cone speakers that have been blown. Just absolutely disappointing and ruins the experience. It’s absolutely maddening and unacceptable. Maybe you’ll win the lottery and find a great sub without these issues. My 12 year old Sony HTIB subwoofer in the same room plays clear punchy bass with no issue. This brand new Bose Bass Module cannot. It’s just not worth the time. So disappointed in Bose on this specific issue. This module is what’s used in their Lifestyle Series - shouldn’t have fluttering noises in a $3500 system or a $1700 SoundBar system. And no, I don’t play these systems loud or do anything that would cause the speakers to be blown.

      Hey Faustian,

I am very sorry that you have experienced this same fluttering noise with both bass modules. Does this happen when you are playing all different sources?

You've been through some great steps to try and eliminate any possible external factors that could cause this. To rule out any interference, have you tried manually connecting the bass modules to your system? You can do this with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cable. If the issue persists, then I'd highly recommend that you contact our customer support team for further assistance - http://bose.life/globalsupport.

After multiple issues with the Soundbar 700 and Surround Speakers I am returning those and this base module. 1. Remote does not properly control non Bose products. 2. Soundbar loses connection with surrounds daily even though the status light is white indicating they are connected. Requires disabling the surround in the app, unplugging the sound bar to power cycle and then enabling in the app again to restore surround output. 3. Sound bar lost HDMI arc audio on multiple days forcing TV to take over. Power cycle required to restore. 4. Sound is good but not great, could be better. Overall too many frustrating issues and poor quality for the given price point of the system. I like Bose products generally but this is my first and last Bose Soundbar combo.
