I was looking for a set of speakers that won't take up much space on my desk, but still offer good sound quality. My Klipsch 2.1 system lasted about a year before cable broke internally and would pop all the time. So I switched to these hoping for similar quality. They are much lower quality. The sounds is very small and definitely not up to the levels of any higher level audio product. Overall volume is pretty good but lacks any lows at all, even mid bass is non-existent. I expected no low bass because of the lack of a sub. This however however drops off far higher than expected. Plus the stage is not even. The right speaker is definitely dominant. The stage does blend a little, but you can easily feel the favored right side. All in all I would say these are a small step above the $30 logitech speakers, but nowhere near the quality of the Klipsch system or other higher end PC speakers (like Audiogon). I am keeping them for now since they work, but I am also keeping my eye out for the next gen stuff to see where my next upgrade will come from.

I should've known when I spent $99 on a pair of Bose speakers... I wasn't still in the 80s and those were the dream speakers that no one could afford lol....they do sound nice, you have to run them at 75% for a clear sound but they don't get extremely loud. Example: If you're just doing normal office stuff with the music playing in a low key fashion or watch videos on YouTube they are perfect and all you need....however...if you're an online gamer or your child watches movies/videos, etc from your computer during a sleepover or party you'll want to upgrade lol. Like I said great for one person at the computer. I just know in my house the TVs usually on, the computers in the next room...at any moment our kids will call everyone in the house to look at a hilarious video. The speakers just have to be louder than us lol....I just put them on my husband's computer, def an upgrade and they're perfect for him :)

Good Highs and Mids - Below Average Bass

Sound quality in the high and mid ranges is crystal clear but bass response - although adequate - is well below average. By comparison, I've owned other Bose compact speakers and products that have much better bass response than these. Perhaps I'm spoiled because the sound quality of the failed 16-year old Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers these replaced was amazing. But even comparing these to a much less expensive set of Logitech speakers my wife has connected to her laptop reveals this Bose pair is only marginally better. In my opinion, overall these are good but not worth the premium cost difference versus a pair of $35 to $40 speakers.

Purchased these speakers recently. My old cheap Logitec speakers were lousy and crackled all the time. These work well (I just wanted decent sound at an intermediate price). But, when I installed them, they came with a 3 foot cord to connect from my computer to the right hand speaker. With my CPU under the desk and a double monitor set up, the right hand speaker, with volume control, had to sit behind my screens, inaccessible without standing up and reaching over the monitors. I had to order a 6 foot speaker cord from Amazon. The sound is fine. I am not a connoisseur. No sub-woofer, but I only listen at low volumes for background music. But there are a lot of less expensive speakers out there that probably sound just as good. Bose, you can do better. I would have been happy if you had a longer cable, as I suspect most people will want. For what I paid, I expected more.

I bought these speakers as I wanted a better quality speaker than the average $20 to $30 speakers available. They do have good sound but I wasn't paying close enough attention when I was putting them together and attempted to place the wrong connector into the back side. It bent the long pin and when I tried to push it lightly back the pin snapped off. I then had to get some tweezers and put the tiny pin directly into the rubber holder at exactly the right level and then insert the cord over that. If I don't move them around they work. I realize I broke it myself, but it should not be that easy to destroy that connection. I can't be the only person to inadvertently insert the wrong connector into a speaker. Had it not broken that easily, I would have given them five stars.

I am a huge fan of Bose owning numerous Bose products. So when I updated my home computer I figured it was time to update my speakers as well. The speakers were on sale for $89 so I was a little skeptical as this is probably Bose's least expensive product. I was right. the sound quality is certainly not to Bose standards. Set up is a breeze but its odd that there is no light to tell you when the speakers are on. Sound quality is acceptable but certainly lacks in bass response and clarity is mediocre at best. I would say I'm disappointed but the old adage comes into play here....You get what you pay for,

I don't want to trash the product as much as I'd like to warn folks about these speakers. If you're expecting "Bose" quality sound for $100 (like I was), you're in for a disappointment. It was actually pretty naive of me to believe I'd get great sound for $100 and no subwoofer. That said, the speakers are decent if you just want good (not great) quality sound for a web browsing session or low level background music. For $30 more, you can get the Klipsch 2.1 computer speaker set-up. The difference in sound quality and volume is tremendous. Spend the extra $30. You won't regret it. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to return these Bose speakers to Best Buy and trade up to another set of the Klipsch 2.1.

I bought these to add better sound to my Amazon Dot, but I was disappointed in the sound quality, especially for the price. I am a long-time Bose fan, but these seemed very low-end, especially for Bose. It seemed adequate generic computer sounds, but not much better than Logitech or other computer-style speakers. So, unless you are wanting to just pay for the Bose name, go with another brand for the same sound quality and better pricing. One note, the more expensive Bose desktop speakers DO sound amazing, but they are significantly more expensive.

Bought these after returning the razor speaker bar and have to say the sound that these put out is second to none. Rich, filling and very clear. I truly loved the sound of these Bose speakers. That being said, I had these turned up, just a bit under full volume so I can just use my PC to adjust the audio and these speakers started to cut out randomly. I'm thinking its a lack of enough power as I've seen similar problems with other audio equipment in the past. Ended up returning them for a cheaper Logitech speaker system and stuck with that.

Yet I do not feel that these measure up to some of their other products. For the price I guess they are OK but if money is of no concern I would suggest that you spend the extra $200 or $300 and get the Bose Companion 5, as I promise you would be happy with them a great deal. I guess what I realized with these speakers is that I am missing the bass, and vibrant acoustics. But for basic projects or for just surfing Youtube to watch videos they are ok. If you are into video editing and stuff like that then this may not be the product for you.

If you are NOT wanting volume, these speaks are highly recommended. I like some kick behind my exceptional sound. I have owned 3 sets of Bose speakers and Bose headphones. These little things are the LEAST favorite. I ended up going back to my Logitech computer speakers, which I also bought at Best Buy. They sound every bit as clear and dynamic as the Bose, but louder. (And the Logitech speakers were about $45 compared to $100.) To steal a line from an old friend... Music is made loud to play loud!

I am a huge Bose fan and have 6 different types of products and have not disliked one. The reviews I read gave me a false expectation which I blame myself for it. These speakers are good 'computer speakers' and produce a decent sound. I was expecting a more deeper sound and a better bass response. Great speakers for the price but if you are looking for bass get some speakers that come with a sub.....these won't give it to you. These are my least favorite Bose product I own.

Bought these to replace speakers I've had for 8 years. The sound is good but not much of an improvement over the ones I had. Notices the most difference when watching movies, the background noises are much more clear. When playing music the tones are sl more rich but not to a significant degree. If I didn't already have speakers these would be great, but the old ones would have been fine. For the money you would think they would have made them wireless at least.

As I said in my last survey, I waited a huge amount of time until I could speak to one of your staff, and then he was inexperienced and could not answer any of my questions about the speaker you carry. If I had it to do over again, I would have purchased the Klipsch set you had on sale that week for $30.00 more than I paid for the Bose set.

Bose is the Mercedes of sound, and these speakers do create a sort of magic mid range dimension to the sound. There's just no bottom. My neighbors might be happy that the subwoofer thump is missing. But. I am going to repair the Logitech speakers I replaced with the Bose. (There was a short in the control wire) Can't wait to feel the thump again. Going to use my Beats headset until I get the Logitechs back.

First off, Ilove all of my Bose products. These are probably one of the most affordable products you can get from Bose. With that being said, these are decent computer speakers for the price. I like the sound and clarity but I wish they had a little more bass to them. I have compared them to similar products and surprisingly I ended up going with some Logitech’s that had both great sound and bass.

Equipped my computer at work with these speakers and initially very impressed with clarity. However, when listening to my fav songs noted deep bass was almost non-existent. Decided to return and spent more money on the Companion 20 -> much better with deeper/powerful bass. I'm sure the Companion 5 would be even better but wasn't willing to spend that much more.

After looking at a few comparative reviews, and seeing that the GigaWorks T20 Series II was slightly cheaper and also had separate bass and treble controls (lacking on the Bose), I decided to purchase the Gigaworks and compare them. I had them side by side and tried out a few music genres. The Bose has a nice rich sound, but in terms of clarity and definition, especially in the mid and treble ranges, the Gigaworks was a walkaway winner.

For a pair of $100 speakers Bose missed the mark. They sound good but not worth the premium to have the Bose logo looking at you. If you have money to burn then grab a pair of these. If you are looking for premium, great sounding speakers for your computer then keep looking because these are not it.

I bought this set of speakers to updgrade from a set (different name brand, and cheaper) that was no longer working. I figured that with the Bose brand name that the quality of sound would be better than my old one, but I don't think it is. I also don't like that I can't adjust the bass or treble. It is for those reasons why I'm only giving this product three stars.
