I purchased these speakers to replace an aging Creative Labs 5.1 Surround Sound speaker system that kept dropping power. The speakers have a relatively small footprint on my desk (4" Wide x 5" deep x 9" tall) and sound excellent for such a small speaker. They sound great at moderate volume, but I never crank them way up The speakers sound better the more I use them due perhaps to the woofers loosening up.

Super easy to setup. Great sound quality. Perfect companion to an IMAC. Only downside is the price.

I needed a new speaker system for my office computer after the old system stopped working. I was hesitant at first because these speakers did not have a bass module. But, after listening to these speakers, I found the bass response was more than adequate and an additional bass module was not needed. I especially like the volume control pod. I don't have get up and reach to a speaker to adjust the volume. And, I can mute the speakers by just tapping the pod. Great sound, but that's what Bose is known for.

Years ago I added a pair of Bose 201 bookshelf speakers to my family room. I was impressed with the sound quality then and I still like the sound from them long after the original installation. The 201 has a smaller cabinet than my Boston Acoustics A 100's. And with that I expected poor bass response but no that wasn't the case. This is true of the Companion 20 also. I read that someone didn't like the tone quality in a review. This is easily corrected with an equalizer in the Bang and Olafson listen program. The control module is a nice touch with inputs and volume adjustment.

Great sound, with good bass for a system with no subwoofer. I really enjoy them, they are a little pricey, but you can tell a quality improvement in all non-bass related sounds vs other high-end pc speakers like the top end Logitech. One con is the connection seems overly complicated, there’s like 4 wires all coming out of the right speaker. Would have been nice to have had those wires combined into one connection.

My previous Bose Companion III finally gave up after 10 years, so I immediately checked out the Companion 20 system at Best Buy. There is not a separate woofer, just two attractive and very solid speakers for the desktop. After a few weeks use, the speakers are 'broken in' and delivering excellent, rich sound with a balanced amount of bass. I listen to classical, jazz, all types of rock and R&B and all genres sound excellent. The Companion 20's design complements the iMac. I think it's a real value.

Best Medium Price Speaker I have Ever Used

Much better than the cheaper model. Just add the equalizer APO and the peace interface which are free downloads and you are good to go! The sound can be adjusted to almost any configuration you would ever want it to. It can be turned on or off by just touching the round object that sits on your desk. This would be very unlikely to break like a traditional knob. It also retains the volume you last listened too. TV input works fine too.

I’m a professional editor, and have used studio speakers for audio monitoring for over 20 years. However, since being on quarantine, I needed to build an edit workstation and purchased these speakers with the hope that they will have a true and clear sound. Check and check. As a bonus, the volume wheel is amazing and has completely removed the need for a mini audio mixer.

Awesome sound, great bass, highs, mids, clarity. I'm a Klipsch guy but these got better ratings and now I know why. I listen to a lot of music through my computer and these work beyond expectations. I especially like the on/off volume mouse thing. If you want to turn down music quickly you don't have to fumble with a locked computer screen. More than loud enough for my apartment and sound good when turned down low also.

I bought a pair of these after a beach vacation video I painstakingly edited turned out to be unwatchable when I played the Blu-ray because the wind noise was deafening. The noise was completely inaudible on my video monitor speakers. Subsequently, I noticed all kinds of extra ambiance on my favorite video game. I bought a second set for my other computer, and a third set as a gift. I have previously used 5.1 computer systems with subwoofers, but settled for the speakers on my monitor to save space. Big mistake! These barely take up any space and sound great!

I give these speakers a 4star review because the cords attached to each speaker are very very short. Likewise teh cord toplug it into your laptop or computer. This extremely limits how & where you can set these up. I found after time, I listen less often to them due to their inconvence. I must say, I DO love the sound of these Bose speakers. Clear, crisp, deep sound, unlike the often overly bassy sound of many speakers nowadays. Voice, instruments, sound as they should! Ido really like their sound, just not satisfied with the set-up abilities...or lack of.

While I have never been a Bose lover, based on the many positive reviews - both professional and user, I decided to purchase these speakers. WOW! Not only do they look great but more importantly they sound Great. Very silky smooth. Nice clean highs - but not shrill. Midrange & vocals are very open and natural sounding. Bass is natural and smooth - not over bearing. Because I am so impressed with these speakers I am now considering a pair of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones as well.

    Big Sound from Small Speakers

My space for speakers is quite cramped. I would have preferred 'large' bookshelf speakers with woofer/mid/tweeter -- However, I could not do that. These speakers replace an old set of Bose speakers (from 10+ years ago). This new set does not disappoint. Nice lows. Good highs. OK, they're not the big bookshelf speakers I prefer; however, they do a helluva job considering their size.

Typical Bose sound: a little bit fat in the mid/upper-bass, but not to the point where it is a no-go. I realize a lot of people like bass boost, so maybe they would count this bass boost as a plus. I happen to hate tubby bass, so I only gave it four stars for sound quality. My other son has had his Bose Companion 20 for 2 years and it has held up well. I have found that Bose components are well-built and last a long time. These appear to be no exception. The puck volume control works, but is sensitive and just takes up space on your desktop without giving any real advatage. If the volume control and input jacks were built into the speakers like older Bose computer speakers, I would rate it higher on compatibility.

My 1st Bose Companion 3 Series Speakers I had were AWESOME! Unfortunately, after about 10 years? they finally bit the dust. I was so disappointed as I absolutely loved those speakers. So, I replaced them with some Logitech speakers (Z407 2.1 Bluetooth Computer Speaker System with Wireless Control)... What was I thinking? These didn't cut it! So, I returned these and bought the Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speaker System, only to get some that were defective. After turning them on low, the volume would increase without me even touching the knob and the sound was an annoying buzzing sound. So I returned those to get this Bose Companion 20 Multimedia Speaker System. I am SO pleased with these! Should've bought these right from the start.. They have an awesome sound and I like the pod, which is what I had with my 1st Bose speakers. The quality is there. Granted, the speakers a little bigger than I wanted, but they're not overpowering my desk space. I really like them! They definitely were worth the money.

I just recently upgraded by laptop to a Dell Inspiron 17 5000 Series and these speakers are an incredible addition! The slim clean design fits well with my décor! The trebles are crisp and the bass has super deep sound without having a woofer taking up additional space! I also have an HP Envy laptop with Beats Audio and the speakers have a tinny sound with this device. As for my ipad, ipod, and iphone the sound is perfect! I am really loving the Control Pod! Tap on, tap off and a snap hooking up your devices and headphones! Thanks Bose!

I bought this for my son's computer at school. He wanted a decent speaker system that didn't require a sub-woofer. These speakers have great sound, but as expected with no sub-woofer the bass isn't the best. That wasn't a concern for my son because his music selection doesn't require floor thumping bass.
