Great sound, light weight and very user friendly. I suggest everyone to use the app and use the equalizer according to your preferences. I didn’t like the original configuration because the lows were too strong and loud and it sacrificed the highs. I was able to find a perfect balance and it sounds amazing.

Set up was very easy. This speaker has great sound. - all instruments are clearly distinguished and sharp. The speaker easily fills a good sized family room. On the expensive side, but worth the investment. The Bose app is actually quite good.

Bought as a gift for a not-to-tech-savvy friend, and was shipped directly to her home. It arrived as promised. She said the setup went very smoothly, no problems, and the sound was great. Have always trusted Bose for great sound & quality, this was no exception.

I was in need of a portable speaker that wasn't heavy and had great quality sound. This speaker exceed my expectations as it is very easy to connect with any Bluetooth device. It has a rich sound and does not lose any sound quality when turn up loud.

I had some initial snags with set-up, but once I was past those, I really got to like this speaker. It seems the set-up issue I was having has been cleared up, but it was an issue with a firmware update that was not working properly. The process itself is typical…download the Bose Music App to your phone, create an account, plug in the speaker. You then run through some pairing options. Essentially, that is it. There are quite a few ways to connect to the speaker. You can use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Apple Air Play 2 or wired (via an aux/3.5 port) connections. You can use the speaker with just Bluetooth, but you will lose the smart features of the speaker (Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa integration). Further, to use Wi-Fi or Apple Air Play, you must use the App. Lastly, and it should be clear, but be aware you need a smartphone for this speaker. Once up and running, there are quite a few integrated music and talk radio services to use natively (Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora…etc…) or simply use anything from your device. The App does a good job of sorting all of this and letting you set things up to your liking. As for the sound quality, it is fantastic! The speaker fills my space and somehow comes from every direction (or it at least makes it sound that way). Bass is clean, and more substantial than I was expecting, but the mids and highs are also full and rich. It has that great Bose sound, but with better bass than I had remembered. I did not expect a speaker of this size to be this good. All in all, I am very pleased. The speaker itself is compact, has a small footprint, and has a nice minimal look. A clean design, for sure, but it also seems built rather well and has a nice feel in the hand. Solid, and a good weight. The controls work well, although most of the time I use the App or voice control. While the speaker stands as a great product without the smart integrations, for me, they are one of the best features. As someone who has slowly put together the pieces of a smart home, I have really come to appreciate the ease of use that these things provide, and the Bose does very well here. When combined with the superior sound quality, it is hard for me to think of a better option. Despite how much I do like this speaker I do have a couple minor complaints, or maybe wishes is a better way to put it. I don’t ding them really at all for my initial issues, as they resolved them in a timely manner. I know this is designed as a “stay put” speaker, but man, if this could have added even a small battery and lost the tether to a power cord? Wow. I really would have loved to see some stronger illumination on the lightbar, or even one spanning more of the device. Further, any illumination on the physical controls would have been great. At the end of the day, when you are looking for a speaker, you want one that sounds good. This one sounds very good. When you are looking for a smart speaker, you want one that works well. This one not only does that, very well, but it gives you choice. Further, it has a nice design, is well-built, is feature-rich, and comes from a company with a strong reputation in this product market. If this is in your budget, at this price point, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I bought this speaker to pair with my Bose soundbar in order to take my music outside or in other rooms in the house. First, getting it to pair was not easy. The app is not intuitive at all. Finally, after unplugging the unit and plugging it back in numerous times it started working. Still not sure how. Every time I move it, I have to repeat the process. As a stand-alone smart speaker,, it is adequate. Honestly, I haven't used Alexa or Google Assistant to control it, so I can't comment on that. The sound is good, but not exceptional like I've come to expect from Bose. I find I'm still using one of my other Bose speakers to take outside and play music from my phone, so I really haven't gained much with this purchase.

it sounds good and it is easy to use. However, if your daughter drops it onto a hardwood floor it doesn't work anymore. At least I got to watch one movie with it, but now I can't afford another one.

Bose has a well-deserved reputation for producing top-of-the-line sound products and has another winner on its hands with the new Home Speaker 300. You might not expect much from a speaker this small. It's a 4x6-inch oval tube about six inches high and contains just one speaker. But you are likely to be impressed as soon as you plug it in, since you get a little demo of its considerable range via a little fanfare that plays during startup. Very deep smooth lows. Nicely balanced with super clean mid ranges and highs. It's pretty amazing. All the moreso once you start listening to music. The clarity is so good, its a bit startling sometimes. Those who like to listen to their music at high volumes will probably love this speaker. It can can get very loud and and stay clean and balanced even at wall shaking levels. And thanks to its 360 degree sound output design, it can fill even big rooms with music, despite its diminutive size. Sure, it's mono only. But perhaps the best mono you will ever hear from device this small. Better yet, the Home Speaker 300 gives you lots of options to source that music. To begin with, this speaker doubles as an Amazon Alexa device so Prime members can stream music from Amazon to their heart's content. The two big music streaming services, Spotify and Pandora also are supported -- IF you have a paid account. Tune-in Radio also is an option as is Bluetooth, of course, so you can stream any music files (or services) from your phone, tablet, laptop or other similar device. And an aux input gives you the flexibility to wire the speaker directly to TV or other device if you want to go that route. (The Bose Home Speaker 300 also works with Google Assistant but I do not have any of those devices so did not test out how it works in that mode.) Setup is pretty easy but, as usual, requires the user to download the necessary Bose app first. And create a Bose account. Like almost all devices of this type, there are zero instructions in the retail package beyond a small piece of paper that essentially says, plug it in, download the app. The speaker basically will not work until you go through the app based setup. This connects the speaker with your home wi-fi system and your Amazon and streaming music accounts. It also downloads any firmware updates that may be available. An animated light bar on the top edge of the speaker helps tell you what is going on during this process, or would if you had read the instructions (online only) and knew what all those flashing lights and different colors mean. Most users probably will have not have done that so good luck figuring it all out. Bose should include a manual with the device to explain this stuff. Or at least provide a sheet of paper explaining what the light bar colors and animations are all about. Be aware there are multiple Bose apps and that the Bose Connect app for headphones does not work here. You need to download the Bose Music app instead. One unusual feature of the Bose Home Speaker 300 is presets, which work much like the radio in your car. There are six presets and can be assigned to whatever you want using the app or the speaker itself. (Just hold down the number when listening to the program or channel you want to save). They can be specific Amazon Prime music channels, Tune-in radio stations, etc.... whatever you want to have quick access to. My only big beef with the the Bose Home Speaker 300 is the touch controls arrayed across the top of the speaker. They are hard to see and do not provide the kind of tactile feedback you would get from a physical button or switch. On the black model I have, the controls are printed in dark gray so are impossible to see except in bright light. And at least one of the controls, a small circle, is not exactly intuitive. It turns out you can touch that to activate Alexa if you dont want to use the Alexa voice wakeup command. Another pet peeve is that some controls do double or triple duty but are not labeled as such so without downloading and reading the manual, you would have no idea how certain things work. Like skipping a song (double tap the play/pause button) or go back (triple tap the play pause button). For this price, one would think physical buttons with proper (readable) labels would be in order. The best advice is to simply skip the controls on the speaker itself and use the app or voice commands. I was also a little surprised this speaker provides no way to shape the sound. No equalizer or presets for different kinds of music. What you hear is what you get. Fortunately, that's pretty darn good so I guess I cannot complain too much about that. Overall, the Home Speaker 300 provides excellent sound quality -- perhaps the best of any speaker in this size and price point. Add in the considerable flexibility it provides with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant support, along the major streaming services, and it becomes a sure winner. Hard to go wrong with this one.

Love these Bose speakers! I use them around my house and backyard. These however, are not like Sonia, where you can connect multiple speakers. You can only connect one portable to the home speaker. I purchased two portables and the home, but at this point, you cannot connect all three together. Other than that, they sound great, hold battery charge, and I like they came in silver, which blends in more to my house and do not stand out as much. I had some issues with the set-up, it took several tries thru different ways to get the Bose app to recognize the speakers. That was a little frustrating.
