I was looking for wireless headphones for my work and seriously considered Sony 1000X vs. Bose QC 35. While I was watching so many reviews, I found Sony just updated the 1000X, so I jumped into WH 1000XM2! I tried on both 1000XM2 and Bose QC 35 and honestly think that both are great headphones. Sony 1000XM2 has more features and longer battery life so I am very content with my purchase.
#Features
The touchpad is not a new feature but it is worth mentioning since Bose does not have this feature. Swipe up or down to control the volume. Swipe right or left to change the music. It is very intuitive and easy. You can even press long to activate Siri. Double tap to stop music or take a phone call.
Also, you can cup the right ear and disable the noise canceling and listen to others.
You can check the battery level by the home screen of a smartphone. I have only seen even numbers such as 100%, 70%, and 50% (then I would charge so I have not seen low numbers because of the reason). Maybe the headphone cannot tell the battery level precisely.
#Bluetooth connection
Bluetooth connection is great. I can leave my phone and go to next room without breaking the connection. Switching the devices is not easy though. With Bose, you can connect two devices at the same time. However, with 1000XM2, you need to disconnect one device to use other device.
To switch the device (updated)
1. Go to setting. Bluetooth, then disconnect WH-1000XM2.
2. Go to the other device, hit setting, Bluetooth, then click to connect.
If you don't want to touch the device connected currently but wans to switch the device (for example, 1000XM2 is connected to iPad that is in your bag and you don't want to pull it out), you can
1. Turn off the 1000XM2
2. Turn on and keep pressing power button to activate bluetooth pairing.
3. Go to your device you want to connect. Hit setting, bluetooth, then connect to 1000XM2.
Honestly, I don't mind doing this but I wish we could connect two iOS devices at the same time.
#Noise canceling
Sony and Bose are both excellent noise cancelling (NC) headphones. While QC35 cannot turn off the NC, 1000XM2 can turn of NC. Previous 1000X had a problem with phone call where you cannot hear yourself (so you end up shouting). Sony has fixed this problem and now 1000XM2 let you hear your voice easily with voice focus mode. Making phone call is much easier now.
#Sony headphone connect app
This app allows you to change the setting of NC based on your activity. You can pre-set the level of NC + voice focus according to your activity (rest, walking, running, and transportation). For frequent fliers, it can adjust the pressure too. You can also change where the sound comes from. For example, you can set as if the sound comes from your back.
When I was using 1000XM2 in the office, I used voice focus mode. It was very interesting experience because I did not hear any noise from construction etc but I heard my coworkers voice. Voice is picked up from the mic so it is an interesting experience.
#Gorgeous look
It honestly looks fantastic. I usually pick the black color but I tried gold at this time. The case of headphone had two-tone color (gold in the middle). It looks great. Please look at attached pictures as it tells you more how nice it looks. The headphone has hinges so you can actually make it very small and put it into the case.
#Sound
I cannot speak too much about the sound because I am not a professional musician. However, in my opinion, it sounds absolutely nice. It sounds even better than Bose QC35 but it is just my opinion. With the connect app, you can also change the sound effect such as Arena, Club, Outdoor Stage, and Concert Hall. It is subjective so you might want to try it before you buy, but I am very much satisfied.
#Comfort
This is where BOSE QC35 (quiet comfort) comes into play. WH 1000XM2 is comfortable but I feel my ears are hot after using this for 1 hour. The pad is touching my ears with 1000XM2 whereas QC35 has deeper ear pad. QC35 is much more comfortable for me.
#Sturdy design
I know cracking was the problem with 1000X. So far, it has been OK but I will definitely give updates after using several months (hope nothing will happen). It looks very sturdy and does not make the clicking sound when I open the headphone.
So which one you should buy? I am very happy with 1000XM2 because it has many features and long battery life (30 hours!). However, you may want to try it on before you buy because BOSE is more comfortable.

These headphones are great. They are extremely comfortable being over the ear, and have a good amount of cushion. I used these in Bluetooth mode on an 11 hour flight and they made it all the way through. I’ve had other Bose headphones and these have the quality you can expect from Bose products. The noise cancelling was also great. Referencing my 11 hour flight, it drowned out the noise from the engine, and crying babies.

The noise cancellation is so amazing that it's awe inducing, the battery life is amazing and lasts the 20 hours, the wireless connection is spot on. On the rare occasion that the battery runs out, I just have to connect the cord to continue listening. The comfort and fit is one of a kind and the design is definitely durable. All in all, it's worth the money, and it's the best several hundred dollars Ive ever spent.

Absolutely love the wireless headphones. They are so comfortable and the sound is very nice. I used them on a plane trip and the noise cancellation works great. Love not having the wires to deal with on the plane. This color/Silver had very little off gassing smell coming from them when first worn. The black model I had to return because they smelled so badly even after I had them sitting out for a week.

I had, and still have, the Bose QuietComfort 25s, which are still incredible headphones. They're not bluetooth which was fine when I get them. But I wanted to bluetooth to my laptop to listen to my music and Youtube, to my cell phone to listen to music and to take and make calls, and to ultimately connect to my TV. I purchased the 35 II. They're just as amazing as the 25's, but with bluetooth. The best part is I can make calls from my cell and no one can tell I'm actually using headphones to talk. The microphone(s) in the ear piece picks up my voice without having to talk louder. I called my friend in another state and didn't tell him I was not only using these headphones, but walked all over two levels of my house while my cell was on the kitchen table and he could not tell I was on headphones. I told him after an hour that I was using headphone with no microphone in front of my mouth. He said he couldn't tell the entire time.
I connected to my laptop and put on my favorite music and the sound is outstanding. The channel separation is great and I've heard instruments and singing in songs I've listened to for 40 years that I didn't know was there. I'm hearing my music in a whole new way.
The Noise Cancelling is as perfect as I want. My wife can listen to the TV in the next room, which I can perfectly hear normally, and I hear nothing but what's coming through my headphones when I have the noise cancelling on. The best part is I can also not use bluetooth and plug directly into the audio jack of my phone or computer with the supplied connector. I've not had another brand to compare these to, but after reading many reviews, and my personal experience with other Bose products, I didn't even consider another brand. I bought these on sale before Thanksgiving for ~$180 which really made them a great buy. They are so good that I bought a second pair as a Christmas present for my son who I know will appreciate them as much as I do.
It did take a little getting used to using the volume control on the right cup just because I'm not used to adjusting volume without seeing the controls, but that is minor. I haven't tried using Alexa while wearing the headphones so I can't comment on that although I will be experimenting soon.

I was looking for my first Bluetooth headphones and flipped back/forth on over ear or in ear. I tried Beats, AirPods and this Bose set. I made the right choice for me. The Bose QuietComfort 35s are light-weight, fit securely enough to wear on 5k runs without squeezing my head and sound fantastic. If you’re looking for brain pounding bass, these are not for you. If you want a great balanced sound (yeah, there is still plenty of great bass) then charge ‘em up and go. The battery life with noise cancellation is amazingly good. I haven’t clocked it but I use these a few hours a week when running and practicing my drumming and only charge them every other week.

Bose QC35 II vs. Sony vs. Skullcandy

I tried 3 different headphones (actually purchased 2) before finally choosing the most AMAZING headphones ever, the Bose QC35 II Noise Cancelling headphones.
First, I bought the Bose SoundSport Free wireless headphones. Comfortable, good sound quality, but with connection issues. Left earbud kept disconnecting. Returned.
I exchanged those for the Skulkcandy Crush Wireless. BEST bass headphones you will ever have. I am a bass fan and bass is on top of my list when buying headphones. BUT, sound quality is not the best. It sounds like a $75-$100 hedphones but with a LOT of bass. Great for watching movies. Sometimes adding too much bass to a song alters the original quality and doesn’t sound good. Returned.
In the store; I tried the Sony 1000X mkII. I did some research and found out this Sony is the closest competition to the Bose QC35 II. It has a little bit more bass than the QC35 II and sounds a little bit better than the Skullcandy Crush Wireless (but with less bass than Skullcandy).
Now, in regards to sound quality, Bose QC35 II WON. I mean, you have to try it yourself and really hear the difference between those headphones for you to experience the quality of Bose. The Bose QC 35 II sounds like each instrument has its own speaker and they sound separately from all other instruments (voice, trumpets, guitars, etc) all separate. In other words, it doesn’t sound like it’s all mixed down. I don’t know if I am explaining it correctly but that’s what I feel. Bass is not bad AT ALL like I’ve been reading from other comments. It’s perfect depending on the song you are listening to. But Bass is definitely there. Comfort wise, I will be very simple: you feel like you are not wearing ANYTHING. It doesn’t hurt, doesn’t bother. It is just SO soft. Oh I forgot, sound is little reverb so it feels like a mini concert. Love that!!
Before you buy, connect your phone to the headphones via Bluetooth in the store using the samples they have on display. Start with the Sony 1000X mkII then go to the Bose QC35 II and you will remember me. I had to sacrifice some bass for the quality of Bose. I don’t regret it even 1% (even though I am a big bass fan).
To conclude, if you want SO MUCH bass but don’t care about audio quality (clear voice and instruments), go with the Skullcandy Crush Wireless. If you want amazing sound quality, reverb, comfort and showing off you have a Bose, go with the Bose. It’s either good bass or spectacular sound quality. You make the choice. Good luck!!

I was reluctant to spend the $$$$ on these. I knew Bose has great products. I went through the evaluations online, on BestBuy and more. My wife convinced me to go for the BQC-35. She was right. These are great. The sound and noise cancelling take listening to my audible books, streaming video, podcasts and music to a new level — excellent. I also use the BQC for business calls. The mic is great. These are worth the cost - investment. They also hold the charge. The fit is comfortable and secure. The Con: expensive. But, the clarity and enjoyment added to listening make the BQC an investment in your listening enjoyment — not an expense. I recommend BQC.

We fly a lot, and these wireless headphones are great for flying. It blocks out the engine noise, but being wireless allows you to easily get up and walk around. I have tried other noise cancelling headphones, and for my money these are the best, but are expensive. The blue tooth is easy to set up with my phone and tablets, and watching movies from those devices allows the time to go fast. The battery life on these is very impressive, and they are easy to charge. Noise cancellation works well, and they are comfortable to wear. They fit entirely over the ear, which I like. They do come with wires if you need to hook into a device or the in flight movies.

Surprisingly Underwhelmed vs Sony

I purchased both Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II headphones, and Sony’s WH-1000XM3, as these are considered 2 of the best over-ear Bluetooth headphones on the market. Let me tell you why I preferred the Sony’s.
Bose:
Let me start by saying I am comparing and rating these Bose vs another set of $350 headphones. If you are comparing your old $125 headphones, the Bose are going to be a huge step up, which is why I still give them 3 stars.
I originally purchased Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II because they were hyped as being the best, had a reputable name with Bose, they are aesthetically good looking headphones, and they were on sale. For a $350 headphone, I was (surprisingly) underwhelmed with the sound, which for me trumps all other features in a pair of headphones. To keep it simple, the sound felt compressed. It wasn’t vibrant. It didn’t “wow” me. Don’t get me wrong, the notes and sounds were crystal clear. But that was the problem. It was just nice, very clear music. I turned up the volume on some of my favorite songs, and didn’t get goosebumps once. It was lacking a deep driving bass and reverberating highs, and the sound just didn’t seem to envelop you. Additionally, the noise cancelling gave me sort of a motion sickness/dizziness feeling, which I thought I was crazy, until I went online and found that it is a real thing. The Bose are extremely simple to connect and set up, and the physical buttons are easy to use. Once they are set up, there is no more customization. Some may find the simplicity nice, but I wanted to be able have some personalization. They are great looking headphones, and they are very comfortable to wear. But all that meant nothing to me if the sound wasn’t up-to-par. I returned the Bose the next day, and paid the extra $56 (because the Sony’s weren’t on sale) for the WH-1000XM3’s. And am I ever glad I did!
SONY:
These headphones are simply amazing. The sound they generate is everything the Bose is lacking; powerful base, strong mids, and vibrant highs that surround you and envelop you. These headphones immediately “wow’d” me, and I think more-so because I had just been disappointed with the Bose (which I was worried was the best I could get). Additionallly, the Sony’s have the ability to adjust an Equalizer through their app, and you can customize the sound even further (you can really drive the bass, or tone it way down). You can also manually adjust the noice cancelling (which is incredible and didn’t make me sick at all) in several different ways on the app, or allow it to automatically adjust depending on what the headphones are sensing (meaning if you go running, it will let in more ambient sounds automatically for safety). Of course this is all able to be turned on and off in the app. The sound is just larger, more encompassing, and better. You can get hard hitting, deep bass listening to rap, or hear the flute player taking a breath between notes listening to classical music. The Sony’s are a slightly larger, heavier, and more “obvious” aesthetically, but they are still very comfortable and hold their position nicely. I would much rather enjoy what I am listening to, than worry about how cool I look wearing them. There are a couple smaller features I liked better on the Bose (changing what device you are connected to on the Bose was easier), but without a doubt, Sony has more customizablity, and the sound is just plain superior to the Bose. If your primary goal is to find the best sounding headphones, then go with the Sony’s. You won’t be disappointed!

My Beats solo 2 headphones (that I got for free with my iMac) bit the dust so I was looking for a good pair to replace them. I purchased these in store after listening to options from Sony, Audio Technica, Bowers and Wilkins, etc. The Bowers and Wilkins sounded the best to me but they were uncomfortable and more expensive. These sound on par with the Sony but these were on sale so that clinched it for me. They are way more comfortable, fit better, and sound better than my old Beats did. Battery life is better too. The only complaint I have is I wish the bluetooth range was 10 feet farther.

Now first of all let me say that only you can judge me for having shiny, pink headphones if you want, but jokes on you. I'm styling baby. I swear I'm not rolling in money but this is my second pair of relatively expensive wireless NC headphones, my first being the Sony WH-1000XM3 which kind of got stolen. Oops.
The two are often compared being in the same price rangee and offering similar features, and most reviews I read seemed to consider the Sonys to be superior in terms of NC which is what swayed me towards them at first. That is true, I am however of the opinion that the experience is negligible and now owning the Bose for a while I have to say that what they have to offer makes up the difference handily. They are simultaneously more comfortable and more stable, not prone to sliding backwards or forwards, and they don't have those accursed swipe controls. A touch sensitive ear cup sounds interesting, but in execution I learned that what I might consider to be a downwards swipe to lower the volume would instead skip to the next song, my cat hanging out on my shoulders tended to have the same effect when she rubbed against them. Additionally, though bear in mind that this is subjective, I have found that I vastly prefer the signature Bose sound over Sony's likely more accurate but comparatively lifeless sound. One thing that I will give the Sonys is that I didn't find myself charging them quite as often, but then again I find myself using the Bose far more often and I've yet to run into a situation that I didn't get more than a full day out of them so that's a non-issue for me.
In short these are probably the second most comfortable pair of headphones behind my old non-wireless pair of Bose SoundTrue around-ear headphones, they sound wonderful, and they'll get you through the day. If you're stuck between the two pairs like I was, just cut to the chase and get these.

I lamented on the price for quite some time. I travel a lot for work and tried cheaper versions like Sony, JBL ans Skull Candy. All were fine but had their quirks about them. I finally bit the bullet and purchased these. I wish I bought them sooner and saved the aggravation of buying and returning.
Are these a little pricey? Yes, but you get what you pay for. The comfort is the best out there.
I'm not an audiophile but these sound great to me. Battery lasts forever.

cons:
None!
(Maybe the price? But for me, they are well worth it as someone who listens to music nonstop)
Had for a little less than a year now, and they are great. I went in store to try them on, I was deciding between these, the other popular Bose, and a pair of Sonys. I wasn’t use to wearing headphones, and so the other two started to hurt within a couple minutes of wear. These ones however, did not hurt. Comfort was my #1 priority since I listen to music majority of the day (literally). So, of course I had to get the Bose comfort headphones. the quality is great, the padding is comfortable, the headphones are flexible, and easy to use. I have 0 complaints. And my ears are for sure more used to wearing headphones now and I can wear these for hours with no pain. Of course, once in a while i gotta let my ears breathe, especially on a hot day lol. 10/10 recommend!!
