Bose hit a home run with its latest earbuds

These days, there are a lot of noise-canceling earbuds to buy. Specifically, though, people with Apple devices generally gravitate towards Airpods as the seamlessness between Apple devices is something they crave. I’m here to tell you that with the QuietComfort II, Bose is gunning for that crowd, hoping that a vastly better sound profile, more options from noise cancelation features, better fit, and decent battery life will be enough for users to cut the Apple cord for their earbud device. Let’s start with setup/box opening. Upon opening, you’ll find the earbuds, a USB C charging case, three sets of earbud tips, three sets of earbud wing tips, and a charging cord. You’ll need to download a specific app to get the most out of the earbuds, which makes sense. On my iPhone the app was easy and intuitive to use. It’s your companion to tweaking the sound/NC profiles, finding the right combo of fit, and installing firmware updates. Once you’ve gone through the tip installation process and first firmware update, your earbuds will be ready to use. The biggest difference between these and the original QC earbuds is the design and form factor. The II’s are vastly smaller, and while not quite as tiny as Airpods, these buds are a good size, and when fit in your ear correctly leave a sleek profile. This is good because once you put them in you’ll realize why Bose is still heralded as a great sound performer in the industry. There’s something just pleasing about the sound profile it employs; power, depth, details. The high end range could feature some clarity, but you have some options to tweak the EQ as you see fit. This helped me find a good balance for my preferences. Out of the box, though, these have a vastly better sound profile that I assume most would prefer to something like the Airpods which is a bit dull and hollow in comparison. Of course, these are a premium noise cancellation earbud, so hopefully the NC works well, right? Good news: it’s fantastic. This is the best NC earbud I’ve ever used. I love the different NC modes that you can swap between, and setting up custom modes for different uses is a nice perk that I didn’t know I wanted. Using the workout profile and tweaking the NC meter to strike a good balance was perfect. As for the fit and comfort, I’ve taken my QuietComfort II’s with me on multiple runs and walks, sat in the office, and also just used them to watch movies when everyone in my house is asleep, and I’m here to tell you they’re very comfortable; in some ways, almost so comfortable you think they’ll fall out. But, to my surprise, they never did, and still haven’t. The only real con I see with them is the ease of use between a few devices. Having to manually go in and select them is something I sort of forgot about when using Airpods Pros previously. That said, I do wish the battery life was a bit better too, but again is on par, seemingly, with its rivals. Overall, I’d 100% recommend these to anyone looking for a premium NC earbud.

    Incredible Sound and Comfort

Bose consistently provides quality products and these QuietComfort Earbuds II are no exception. I have tried several earbuds and nothing compares to sound, comfort and overall quality of these earbuds. Every detail of the product is polished and work perfectly as described. The components are extremely responsive to touch. As with any new product, you will want to update the firmware to use the newest features. The sound is stunning with crisp treble and deep bass. The application allows for four programmed sound modes, including Bass Boost, Bass Reducer, Treble Boost and Treble Reducer. All four modes allow for customization with Bass, Midrange and Treble adjustments. The sound can be customized easily for your taste. Noise cancellation is impressive. I am able to block out almost all outside noise, while easily changing to an aware mode and back by simply pressing and holding an earbud. While only Quiet and Aware modes initially appear, there is an option to create several other modes with adjustable noise cancellation levels. The earbuds themselves have serval touch functions allowing for complete control without using the application. A series of taps such as single tap, double tap, triple tap and holding down will give you almost all necessary functionality. I am able to wear these comfortably for hours and barely notice that I have them in. While they are not small, they are well balanced in the ear and fit my ears perfectly. There are several sizes to choose from for ear comfort including comfort bands. I have no concerns about these slipping out of my ears while moving around. These are going to be used daily and I am extremely pleased with every aspect of the earbuds. The sound quality, comfort, build quality, charging case and mobile application are all top notch. The battery is rated at six hours with an additional two hours after recharging in the case for 20 minutes.

These are great sounding earbuds. The sound is well balanced and detailed. The bass is powerful and clear all the while you can turn it up all the way and hear mid range and treble without the bass getting muddy or over powering. When compared to AirPods Pro 2, I could hear a slight hiss from the Bose compared to the apple, but both works very well. I did enjoy the more balanced sounding Bose though. Fit wise they both stay in my ears well and I can fall asleep with either one no problem. I have no problems with the controls for operation of music and calls. Hear-through on the Bose sounds clear and almost natural, AirPods Pro 2 sounded more natural. Battery life is good, the case is on the larger side but will still fit in your small pants pocket. Overall they are great sounding ear buds that is on top of my list for good earbuds. I did find that when using the earbud it’s best to open the app to make sure the earbud connect with the app for your settings to work properly, a bit annoying but only if you are use to Apple, I just make it a habit to open the app. Other earbuds share similar issues so it’s common in my opinion. Overall it’s very pricey in my opinion compared to other brands with performance close to it, but it performances well and is one of the better earbuds with ANC out there. I have not tested the Sonys because they look too big so it’s a no go for me

      Hey Rodney,

Thanks for your review of the QC Earbuds II. It's great to hear you were enjoying the bud, but I'[m sorry to hear you're experiencing the sound going on and off. This could be attributed to a poor connection, be it a corrupted pairing, or signal quality. Please ensure you're using the buds within 33ft/10m of the smartphone/media device. If the pairing is corrupted, I suggest unpairing, resetting the device and establishing a fresh connection. Reset instructions: https://bose.life/3OnoDpx.

This review is for the new Bose quiet comfort earbuds. Unboxing you will find a nice hard case/charger with the ear buds in it. Three different size earpieces to get the perfect fit for you and a charging cable. They fit me very comfortable for all day usage. Setup went very smoothly already having the Bose Music app. These ear buds have worked out great for me. They have two main modes one being quiet. In this mode they do just that keeps out side noise quiet. For instance the first time I put these on the background noise of my AC running in the house was totally eliminated. And the other mode is aware. Just like it sounds it keeps you aware, you can hear everything around you very clearly. And you can customize two more modes of your own. The sound Quality is just what you would expect from Boes. And with the built-in EQ you can adjust the bass and treble to your liking. Battery life has been good so far easily lasting all day. And I feel they are very small and stylish. I like these over all my other sets of earbuds.

I’ve been using the Bose quiet comfort 2 ear buds for quite a few weeks now and I have to say….they are step above the previous model. • noticed the noise canceling was a huge improvement. •they are lighter with a smaller profile. •they stay in your ear better… thanks to the design and options of inner ear tips and outer ear comfort rings. • noticed slightly better bass levels with clean high’s equal to the 1st model. •the ear bud battery and case battery have enough charge to keep you listening hours on end….both models hold their charge really well…..slight increase on new battery case though. With all of that said…. the only thing it lacks…is the wireless charging capability that they had on the original but for some reason dropped on this edition…??? I’m very pleased with my purchase as I was with the original.

    Very Few Flaws

First off, the noise cancellation is EERIE. I'll put the 'buds in and anyone who is more than 6 feet from me will be virtually silent. I'll see mouths moving and hear barely audible sounds, and the instant I put on music, I can't hear anything from the outside world. They don't completely cancel out high-frequency sounds like hydraulic brakes or high-pitched shouts, but they're muffled by about 60-75 percent, depending on volume and how close you are to the source. The fit is bar none, thanks to the customizable fins. I run with these guys and they don't move around at all (plus they're very comfortable). The sound is very evenly balanced, which will appeal to those who like equal emphasis on the highs, mids, and lows. I personally like how well the bass is emphasized, but I could use more detail in vocals and higher frequencies. I listen to a lot of metal, and the QC II's sound profile is well suited to the agressive and energetic nature of such music, so exercise with them is a lot of fun! Also, it's worth mentioning that the audio quality is probably 2-3 times better than the original QuietComfort buds. But, if you're looking for audiophile-grade sound, or an open, detailed soundstage, you will be sorely disappointed. Bose is really more of a tech company that happens to be good at audio, rather than the other way around, so their prowess lies with their special features and innovations. You want the best tech you can find in a set of earbuds, plus a great fit and a good companion app? Go for the Bose QuietComfort II's. If you're looking for high-grade sound, go elsewhere - but for the vast majority, Bose does just fine. Also, aptX Lossless support for high-resolution audio is confirmed by Bose to be released in early 2023, so that's going to change for the better. Quite literally the only problem I have with them is sometimes the left earbud doesn't connect, but that doesn't happen often. The overall verdict? If you can find a sale for any amount at all, don't hesitate to buy them. And, if you can't wait, $299 is (at least in my opinion) a worthy price to pay for some of the best earbuds money can buy. Sony's got some catchinf up to do!

Here are my complaints:There’s a lot of unnecessary “knocking” sounds while it’s on. Phone calls are not good. People tell me the background is very noisy. I can’t seem to use just one earbud while the other is charging. There’s a white noise, buzzing sound when it’s idle. Also, there are times when bluetooth connectivity wouldn’t connect. At times, the right is working while the left doesn’t or vice versa. This is not ready for release and must be updated. Im returning them.

      Hi Ian,

I understand that you're planning to return the earbuds. Should you decide to try them again though I do have some steps I'd like for you to try. As what you're reporting is highly unusual and unexpected. The white noise you're hearing when idle could be the electronic noise floor of the earbuds. You can look at the information and steps here https://bose.life/3G3Fg5G that can help, along with the unexpected knocking noise.
Phone calls mic pick up can be affected by mic orientation, try the information here https://bose.life/3HID8lc to help resolve this. We are working on a firmware update that will allow of independent earbud usage. Please keep an eye on the Bose Music App.

    Exceptional ANC & Sound

Bose sound quality and ANC are exceptional, without a doubt. I have owned several different ear buds; including soundcore, google buds, all of samsung's buds. I also own a pair of Bose Headphone. The reason I'm keeping the bose buds is due to the ANC. If I have an apple device, I would definately go for the Air Pod Pro 2, it just have an overall well balance of features. Onto the Bose, let's talk about the things I wish it could have been better. Case design along with the polish/finish is not to my standard. Case looks too bulky and those with fat fingers will have a hard time taking the buds out at times. No wireless charging is like something can live with since the weight has gotten better compare to the 1st Gen. Everytime you put on the buds, there are the "voom" sound, not sure if that can be disable. Mic is just decent, still two levels below Air Pod Pros 2 IMO. As someone that often on the call, I would prefer something that is well rounded. Keep in mind currently the left buds can't be use independently till "future update". Bose app may need some polish as well. If you only care for sound and ANC, these are one of the best. You may still hear some minor loud backgroud noise with no music playing and ANC can be adjusted to suit your liking. The fit is great, can wear for long duration and is very comforable with different size tips/wings. All the Galaxy buds fits me very well so you may use that as reference.

Bose has always been known to make audio products of the highest quality, And Bose’s newest earbuds the Quietcomfort Earbuds II do NOT disappoint. Packaging: Everything comes included in a small box, right away you can tell that the packaging was very well thought out and designed. Included in the box: Is a USB-A to USB-C cable, an upgrade to the older micro USB-B cable, so I liked that. Also inside the box you will find three different tips that are placed on the earbuds themselves, they come in small, medium and large, already installed are the medium sized ones, These fit the best for me. Also included are “bands” these bands wrap around the earbuds themselves. Basically what they do is they form a seal around your ear, These serve two purposes 1. they seal out outside noises out, and 2. They make the earbud fit perfect perfectly inside of your ear canal to protect against the ear buds falling out. Pairing: Connecting the earbuds to my smart phone was really easy, just press the button in the back of the charging case for a couple of seconds, pair them with your smart phone, and that’s it. Pretty standard and pretty easy. App: You’ll soon be prompted to download the Bose app. I Recommend everybody do this for couple of reasons, you can play around with the sound EQ settings, you can know exactly how much charge your earbuds have, you can program and swap different shortcuts, and the app can show you very well detailed tips on how to work your new earbuds, meaning it’ll show you how to pause your music, skip to the next song and raise or lower the volume by simply touching the side of the earbuds with your finger. Finally the thing I appreciate most about this app is that it doesn’t require you to create any kind of account if you don’t want to. Sound: The sound is as good as I have ever heard earbuds sound, clean, crisp, excellent highs, excellent mids, and the bass is good enough (these are not super bass heavy) there’s not much else to say really, these just sound great. Noice Cancelling: Perhaps the single greatest feature of these earbuds have is their sound canceling ability. When in “Quiet” mode, The earbuds block out sound better than any earbuds I have ever tried before, then there’s “Aware” turn this on if you still want to listen to your music but still be able to hear outside noises (like if you are out in the street and still want to hear cars coming) I think what happens here is the microphone gets turned on and you’re then able to then hear the outside noises this way, kind of like a hearing aid. Both Quiet mode and Aware mode work very well. Conclusion: I recommend Bose’s newest earphones to anybody that is reading my review and interested in this product, you will be happy with your purchase. I highly recommend downloading the app and downloading the newest software update for them for the best experience. + Sound + Design + Features +App +The Bands +Comfortable +Battery life -Charging case is made of plastic and feels somewhat cheap

Best earbuds on the market - period!

Bose really stepped up the ear bud game with these noise cancelling Quiet Comfort II’s! Setup was a breeze, download the Bose app and follow the steps. The earbuds include 3 different sizes of ear tips and stability bands (they look like gaskets for the ear). With the right tip and stability band, the earbuds felt very comfortable seated in my ear. I shook my head, there was little to no movement, I was able to go for a quick jog without any issues. I like that these earbuds don’t stick out of my ear too much, though they are a bit larger then AirPod Pros. The case can be charged with the included USB-A to USB-C cable (not USB-C to USB-C, as most are moving to). To my surprise, they cannot be charged wirelessly. Controls: I must prefer these new touch controls over physical buttons that need to be pressed. On some other brands, when you press the button, it this pushes the earbuds into your ear and its uncomfortable. With the Bose Quiet Comfort II’s, a single tap on either earbud starts or stops the music, a double tap skips the song or hangs up a call, a long tap to toggle between the noise cancelling modes. On the other earbud, you can tap and hold to access your voice assistant. Minor pet peeve and FYI, I can’t say “hey siri” to automatically access assistant. This isn’t Bose’s fault, as the technology is only available on Apple devices. The best control feature – volume adjustment on both earbuds! Swipe up or down on the side of the earbuds and it’ll change the volume! Noise cancellation: The noise cancellation is quite good, better than my current earbuds. The earbuds are also supposed to learn your ear canal’s shape by sending out a chime and then optimizing the noise cancellation, pretty amazing. Perhaps it’s this technology that makes them better than other earbuds I’ve used. There are 2 default modes of noise cancellation, quiet (all noise blocked) and aware (hear street noise). There are 2 additional modes that you can customize in the app for in between. For example, I chose “Focus” mode, and I selected a level of noise cancelling that’s in the middle. I like this feature, its great for when I’m working at home and there is some noise, but not a lot of noise to block out. Sound quality: The sound these small earbuds produce is excellent! I would go as far as saying these are the best sounding earbuds I’ve used (I’ve easily tried over 8-10 pairs from various manf)! I prefer the sound of these over my trusty AirPod Pros. I found the sound quality to be clean, low distortion, sounds warmer and the base is better. If the sound does not suit you, you can use the Equalizer in the Bose app to adjust. There are some pre-set eq settings to choose from or manually adjust yourself but moving the graph for bass, mid and treble. The one thing I noticed is when I activated Siri, the volume was noticeably lower, I tested this a few times using both the Bose and AirPods. Hopefully this will be resolved with a software update. Conclusion: There are many things to like about these Bose QC II. I would even say there isn’t a better earbud currently on the market that sounds this good and handles noise this well. Bose really did a great job with these earbuds! Although a bit pricy, I would highly recommend these to anyone that appreciates music and sound quality. Pros: 1. Noise cancelling works very well! 2. 4 modes of noise cancelling available (2 customizable modes) 3. Comfortable, secure fit Cons: 1. Voice assistant volume low 2. No wireless charging

    Best earbuds I've had maybe

I've had the previous model and decided to upgrade. Sound quality is still there. They're more compact now but still comfortable. I use them when I go to the gym and I lift, jump, sprint with them on while sweating and no issues of them coming out my ear. Only problem I've ran into is connection issues. One of the earbuds won't connect sometimes when I take them out the case. I would have to put both buds back into the case close it and open it back up and put the buds back on again for both to connect. The noise cancelling is still great but I don't think it's better or worst then the previous model and I have changed bud sizes accordingly. The battery life is really good also. I probably charge is once every 2 or 3 weeks because I only use them at the gym for about 2hrs at a time more or less. Hopefully an update eventually fixes that connection issue. Still would recommend these earbuds.

Just when you thought, "can earbuds really get noticeably better?" The answer is "yes". The Bose QC Earbuds II take on an unique shape meant to be comfortable and improve sound isolation AND quality. In addition to the expected rubber eartips (in multiple sizes for perfect fit) that go at the opening of your ear canal, there's a "stability band" (rubber "gasket" that fits into your ear). I found it both more comfortable, but also adding to stability when moving around. After downloading the BoseMusic app to my phone, I easily connected the earbuds by opening the charging case (good for up to 3 full charges, but sadly, lacking inductive charging). The case has two lights. One multicolor LED provides status of the Earbuds: bluetooth connection, charging status and software updates. The second provides Charging Case status: Charging and charge level, and software update. A firmware update was downloaded and installed with ease and I was ready to go. The app allows you to adjust equalization settings for Bass-Mid-Treble. A very cool feature is when you place the earbuds in your ear, a brief chime plays to assess the shape of your ear canal and adjust the noise cancellation and sound performance. I believe this worked well because I often fidget with earbuds and didn't have to do so with the Bose. Nice. There are 3 modes, easily changed by tapping either earbud. Quiet, ActiveSense and Aware. Consider it high, medium and Iow management of external sound. I found the noise cancellation to be excellent. The world seemed much noisier than I recalled when removing the earbuds! Equally, the microphones seemed to filter ambient noise well. I rarely had listeners on the other end of calls ask me to repeat myself. Finally, volume is controlled easily by sliding your finger up or down on either earbud. This worked very well for me. Sound quality was nice without adjusting the EQ. What more could you ask for?

I was deciding between these and AirPods. The only reason I went with AirPods was because of how seamless they integrate with my iPhone. Also, compared to AirPods Pro 2, the QC II has more of a bass and not as crisp as AirPods. The Bose earbuds have the best noise cancellation hands down. They are comfortable for all day use. Usually my ears will get sore when using Beats Pro, but I didn’t experience any discomfort with the Bose. Sometimes they would randomly disconnect, but I think it was due to interference of other Bluetooth devices. Other times I’d accidentally brush my hand against one of the earbuds, and the volume would change of my music. Overall really great earbuds.

I have had many Active Noise canceling headphones over the years but never Bose Earbuds. I thought I had great noise canceling true wireless earbuds before and Bose has the reputation for being excellent at it so I was excited to see how they sounded and performed overall. Included with the Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 is the charging case (Qi enabled), the earbuds themselves and a mini usb cable as well as different size ear tips and Bose’s “stability bands”. I charged the Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 overnight when I first got them and was ready to go the next morning. First thing is to download the Bose Music App from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once pairing the Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 with your phone as with most things today you may have to do a firmware update in order to get the latest and greatest features. I performed the software update and it finished in about 35 minutes or so. Once that was done I was ready to go. First I made sure they fit in my ears right. I used the large ear tips in both of my ears, and as for the unique to Bose “stability bands” I had to use the already installed size 1 in my left ear and the size 2 in my right ear. Once making those adjustments they fit just right and I used the app to test the fit and the app verified the earbuds fit well. The Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 can be paired with 2 sources at the same time (multi-point) but you can only listen from one or the other as most multi-point capable headphones work. I paired immediately with my iPhone 13 Pro Max. The app is easy to navigate and you can choose pre determined or custom sound profiles using the EQ function in the app. There are also custom setting available to best tailor the noise cancellation to your liking. The “Aware” mode allows you to hear noise from your surroundings and the reason for buying the Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 is the World Class Noise Cancellation and I must tell you the Quiet Comfort 2’s live up to the reputation. The noise canceling feature is the best I’ve ever not heard (pun intended) and there is no sacrificing of sound quality in the process. Bass is rich and treble is crisp, and the mid range notes are satisfying as well. The Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 sound fantastic whether at lower volume or higher and with no distortion at the higher volume levels. Phone calls sound great and the other parties heard me crystal clear. The Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds 2 will be my go to earbuds for everyday carry as I travel a lot and need great noise canceling earbuds for my trips.

The Bose name has always had a reputation as being a leader in speakers and headsets. I once had a car with a Bose sound package which was phenomenal, but I never had a headset or earbuds to see how they were. After experiencing (and it really is an experience), the Bose respect is well deserved. The Bose system comes complete with everything you need to customize your listening pleasure. You receive the charging case, USB charging cable, the earbuds, and assorted eartips to make sure your get a secure, comfortable fit. To get the best out of the earbuds, a companion app should be downloaded to your smartphone or other device. There was a QR code on the case which should have pulled up the app on the iPhone, but it did not work for me on iOS 15.7. However, I was able to search the app store and find the correct Bose Music app. With the app installed, pairing to the device was easy. Rom there, the app automatically downloaded a firmware update, and I was off and listening. The app is a great companion to the earbuds. I was able to go in and customize my listening preferences. You have the choice to save up to 4 presets to allow you to get the most out of your experience. You can choose from several pre-installed settings or create your own. The EQ selector is a 3-channel system. You are able to raise or lower the bass, mid-range, and treble to your liking. It is great to have this control with an in-ear system. Listening wise, these are noise-cancelling earbuds. I have had noise-cancelling headsets before, but nothing has removed background noise like these earbuds. I had a puppy barking in my house, but these earbuds removed 95% of that sound. I was in my own world. Whether I was listening to Prince or classical music or podcasts, the sound was crystal clear. I heard things in the music that I had not heard before. It was that pristine. It just sounds amazing. And these are not just for music. They work with phone calls as well. You can take calls without removing the earbuds. The earbuds are interactive, so you can touch them to take call or disconnect. The calls sounds great and requires minimal actions to do. Being earbuds, some may want to use these for exercise. I will say that there is no problem staying in the ear during exercise. The fit is snug yet comfortable. If one earbud would fall out, the sound will stop to alert you right away. The earbuds are not waterproof although they can handle sweat and rain. The one warning I would have though is I would not use these for outdoor running. The noise cancellation is so good, it would likely cancel out the sound of cars and could be dangerous for the user. Other than that, these would be good for indoor exercise. In the end, I love the Bose earbuds. The sound is amazing, and you can customize it to your listening style. The noise cancellation is amazing which makes it great for work, on planes, or just anytime you want to shut out the rest of the noise of the world. I highly recommend the Bose noise cancelling earbuds. They are simply amazing.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II Summary: My favorite, most comfortable, highly performant ear buds! Pros: * Comfortable. These units slide into your ears a little bit differently than others I've used. Net result is a secure and very comfortable (almost unnoticeable) fit. * Quiet. The ambient sound noise cancellation is quite amazing. It works well and the pass-through mode allows you to be more aware of your surroundings as needed. * Sound quality is amazing. I haven't experienced ear bud audio like this. The fidelity and performance are stunning. When I first put them in and played a few of my favorite songs (various genre), I closed my eyes, and I was immersed in a rich, balanced experience. The bass, superb. * Bose Music App. The app lets you control listening mode (noise cancellation, etc.), as well as other functions. Once setup, it is easy to use. * USB-C. Though basically ubiquitous, the USB-C charging port means that I can reuse chargers/cables from my myriad of USB-C devices. Cons: * Earbud case shape. The bottom of the charging case is rounded. While this is a typical shape, it means that you can only lay it down on its back. Pairing/updating this unit with the lid open can be difficult without awkward positioning/holding in hand. * Set up using included QR code. The code took me to a page not found error. Oops! Don't worry, just download the Bose Music app from your phone's ecosystem store. * Bose Music App. After about 5 minutes and several Bluetooth pairing attempts, the earbuds were finally detected by the Bose Music app. Within a few seconds, the app began to transmit an update for the ear buds. Cool, but way more effort than should be expected. * Packaging. As an eco-conscious consumer, I noticed the unusually bulk included booklet that didn't even include use instructions. Seems a wasted opportunity to conserve. Use: Put them in your ears, close your eyes and enjoy. These are truly a treat to use. There were a few hiccups on setup, but nothing that was a problem and all certainly worth the experience.

These are the 4th kind of bluetooth earbuds I've had. Pros: Sound and noise cancelling are the best of any I've used to date. They also fit very well. I exercise vigorously and they need little adjustment. Battery life is also impressive. With an average of more than one hour per day playing music at about 60% the charge indicator does not show battery declining for at least a week. Cons: No wireless charging. I almost didn't purchase for this reason. The app does not show the battery level of the case. I just charge them if the charge indicator is orange when the buds are inserted into the case.

Great Noise Canceling, AirPod Pro Better Otherwise

I bought these because I needed really great noise canceling, and that aspect is fairly good. - for Droney sorts of background noises, they generally work better than standard 32 dB foam earplugs. For impulse type noises, they do not work as well. - they fit in the ear much better than the first version, but are still too bulky to sleep with. The Apple AirPod Pro fit is my ears much better and are much less bulky. - They don't seem to understand the idea of background music. In fairness, this is an issue on iPhones in general, but even on the lowest volume setting, they are too loud to play background music at a non-disruptive volume. I turned the equalizer is all the way down in the app, but that only helps slightly. - They are a little muddy on telephone calls. Even the first generation AirPod pros produce better sound on phone calls. - The battery life is impressive, and they are much smaller than the first generation. They can at least be carried in a pocket now, but the case is still bigger and bulkier and less comfortable to carry than the AirPod Pro. - Bose, bizarrely, insists on putting the volume to 50% every time they connect. So no matter what your environment was and how you were listening to things, it changes the volume. There is no way to turn this off and it is really annoying. - Their Bluetooth connect tone is very loud and disruptive. - they are advertised as being able to connect to Bose sound bars. I was not able to get it to connect to my Bose smart sound bar 600, despite looking at directions and trying multiple times. - The app for iOS is extremely buggy. It is a struggle to even get it to scroll down screen! I had attempted to use them with the sound bar and other Bose smart speakers, and the groupings rarely held or behaved in a cogent manner. - their app commits what I think is a real abuse: if you allow it to make notifications, it starts hassling you with promotions! Seriously? - Unlike Apple's earbuds, these are only able to maintain a connection to one device at a time. So if you're going back-and-forth between a phone, tablet, or whatever, you have to manually manage the Bluetooth connections. It sounds trivial, but is surprisingly annoying. To summarize all this, my impression is that if noise cancellation is the absolute most important thing, to go with these, but with the understanding that the app is deeply flawed. And that in every other respect, the AirPod pros are superior and provide a better experience. I returned this pair.
