A great audio device for musicians

I have played guitar and bass on and off for about 15 plus years. I've played live and in-studio as a musician. I've been meaning to start playing more and eventually start playing live again. I was eyeing speakers or PAs to help me with the vocal aspect. I never knew Bose S1 Pro would help me fulfill my musician needs! The packaging is very Bose, simple, and straightforward with a classy look. The PA itself is smaller than other PA control I have used in the past. The PA has three PA channels. Channel One and two are for Instruments and Vocals. These channels also have combo XLR inputs, dedicated tonematch, tone controls, and reverb. Channel 3 has Bluetooth streaming or a 3.5mm input. It does not include a rechargeable lithium-ion battery; this is sold separately for $99 through the vendor's website. You will need to have it plugged in at all times. That is the only knock on this PA speaker. I hooked up an old Shure mic I purchased from Radioshack a while ago. I mostly use it for karaoke or narrative audio. As soon as I connected, it picked it up. I just changed the tonematch to vocals and adjusted the tone and bass. I also used a condenser mic, but unfortunately, I did not get any audio. I plan to use my computer with Logic Pro to see how it works. Finally, I used the streaming audio services from channel 3, which worked like a charm. I did not have to download the recommended app as it still told me to connect through my settings on my iPhone. I still could use Spotify very quickly and even use the microphone while playing Spotify simultaneously. In short, this is a great speaker. I will be using this PA speaker when I start playing live or for parties. This speaker is straightforward to use, and the audio sounds great no matter the volume! I recommend this speaker to anyone!

Hello, the S1 pro is our lightweight and convient portable music PA system.
The speaker has the option to come with a battery or not. The battery version would allow you to walk around with it and provide the functionality you need.
You can view the options for this speaker at Bose.com.

This is a really great little speaker. One thing I do like about it is that it does not have a battery in it. For some people this is a disadvantage, but for me I always use outdoor speakers when I have access to power and a battery doesn’t really help me much. However, not having a battery keeps this unit much lighter than any of the speakers I have that are battery powered. That being said, if I change my mind and want a battery, this unit takes one that I can buy separately and upgrade the speaker without having to try and get a whole new unit. The sound is really nice and loud and louder than a speaker I have that is much bigger. I tried this outdoors with a blow up movie screen and projector and it worked well, but was still a bit quieter than I was wanting. I’m not complaining since it still does amazing compared to other speakers its size, but I kind of want a second one now. These speakers allow you to connect them together with other speakers as a set and doing this with speakers on both sides of the screens would really help complete my outdoor movie setup. I also like that before the movie I was able to plug a mic into it and use it as a megaphone/announcement system. I switched over seamlessly and made it a piece of cake to through an outdoor movie party. Bose continues to deliver and this is a great small travel speaker that delivers big sound in a convenient package.

Used this speaker as my PA/speaker as a solo acoustic guitarist/vocalist in a bar and it was awesome! Looking forward to using it as a monitor at places with house PAs. Very loud and clear. The preset settings are very helpful & the bluetooth feature seems to work great every time soo far

The Bose S1 pro is a very versatile speaker that can play pretty much any role you ask of it. There are so many options for what you can do. The back of this speaker has a very organized and clearly marked set of inputs and outputs that cover 99% of what the average person would want to do. For me, I have used the speaker as just a Bluetooth speaker in the backyard, my wife used it as a PA for her office event, and we even used it one night for a karaoke night with friends. All of our experiences have been flawless. Bose didn’t make any dumb design decisions you see with lots of speakers. This is an enthusiast’s dream speaker at this price. The sound that comes out of this speaker is incredible. Not only does it sound clear with good base, its SO LOUD. For the majority of situations there’s no way you’re going to need something louder. Imagine if you buy the optional battery pack too. That would turn this speaker into probably the most versatile speaker on the market for its size/price.

Sounds great, crystal clear Bose sound right out of the box. Setup was incredibly easy - just plug in and then pair bluetooth. I was up and running immediately. Sound is sharp and crisp even when turned up all the way. This speak gets very loud but stays clear at high volumes. The built-in amplifier seems perfectly matched with the speaker design. My only complaint would be that I thought it would have more low-end bass for the size and weight of it but it still sounds really good. Great for indoor or outdoor use.

This is an amazing speaker! It does a lot more than what I’m using it for but it blows my previous monster speaker out of the water. I use it as a Bluetooth speaker for my home gym and it changes the whole atmosphere. What else do you expect from Bose. I’ll walk down to the end of my drive way which is pretty long and not even at full volume I hear it clearly. The only downside to this would be the price if you’re only using it as a Bluetooth speaker.

The Bose S1 Pro PA System has some good ideas, but leaves out the necessities. The S1 Pro doesn't offer much out of the box, you get the speaker and a power cord. This version does not include a rechargeable battery, so you’ll need to plug it into a power outlet. The speaker has 3 different channels, 2 – XLR inputs and 1 Bluetooth or AUX input. The first 2 channels have knobs to adjust the base, treble and reverb, but the Bluetooth and AUX do not. There is also an output to be able to connect to another S1 Pro using a ¼” TRS cable. You can also connect 2 speakers together wirelessly through the Bose connect app, to make them play in left and right stereo mode. I connected the speaker via Bluetooth to my phone to test out the sound quality. The first thing I notice was the lack of bass at certain parts of the song and overpowered bass at other parts. It needed to be tuned, unfortunately there is no option to adjust the bass or treble in Bluetooth mode so what you hear is what you get…Aside from the bass being way off, the sound quality is decent, not their best by far, but decent enough. There are many times that the highs and lows tend to blend in together, leaving a dull sound quality, especially songs that had a lot of bass. Next, I tested this out as a PA system using an XLR mic. I switched the tone match to mic and turned it on, only to find that the vol is incredibly low. Even at full volume, it never got that loud at all. The clarity was good, but the vol was just too low. Needless to say, I won’t be using this speaker for next year’s spelling bee. Overall, I am disappointed with the Bose S1 Pro. The build quality is good, and I like how it has 3 different resting positions, but it misses out on the most important parts of a speaker. The lack of tone controls for Bluetooth is a big issue for me, as well as the lack of connections that it offers. I wish they offered more than just 2 – XLR inputs as the mic and instrument options. I also think the speaker fails as a PA system in terms of volume level. With all the options out there, I would probably choose a different PA system.

This is loud enough, the app makes everything seemless and even allows you to add additional speakers. The only reason i gave it 4 stars is because when you have more bass and if it is too loud you do get some distortion. Overall great for listening to music, connecting your instrument to it and even doing karaoke. Overall it is amazing and everything i expected from bose.
