Customers consistently note the exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and impressive bass of the Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant. Many appreciate its convenient size and straightforward setup process, although some experienced connectivity issues and found the price to be somewhat high. The user experience with the app and remote control also received mixed feedback. While some praised the sleek design, others found the remote control less intuitive and the app somewhat problematic.

This unit looked great heard ot in the store. Went home saw the location had open box units. We went with the middle priced one hoping it would be a good fit to replace out 8 year old sound bar. Sadly wasted more time than I would have like trying to set this up. Now have to waste time to go back to the store. 3 visit in 48 hrs probably would be going back for a while. Best buy open box is pretty good but, if the device has to buttons and can not be manually reset for setup with out an app that needs it in setup mode for you to connect to just seems silly? Bose prevent their use from using the product due to trying to have sleek simple unit. Back in my daddys age we could plug stuff in and it worked.

If you are wanting to use “Hey Google” voice commands to this soundbar, forget it! I like to ask for weather, turn up music, and play Pandora, etc.. Now i have got to keep the portable Bose speaker in the living room or hope Google home in my hallway heard me. Really disappointed as the box states it works with Hey Google. We called Bose for support and after an hour, we went from “no, the 600 doesn’t support hey Google only Alexa“ to we’ll try to connect you to it through chromecast. That still doesn’t get you “hey Google”. This isnt a smart device its just a speaker but will hook up to Google devices. The irony is my portable Bose speaker can be used as a go between with the soundbar. Ugh!!

Hello, The Soundbar 600 works with Google and gives you voice control over content playback on Works with Google-enabled Bose devices. This is done via an additional proxy device such as a Google Mini. The command is given to the proxy device, while the content itself is played on the Bose device. You can set up a Bose device as the preferred speaker in the Google Assistant app—this defaults content playback to that device. If you don’t set the Bose device up as a preferred speaker, you will need to include the name of the Bose device in the command. Tegan - Bose Customer Support

Great Bose signature sound, great atmos, needs Sub

Personally, I love Bose. Have had many Bose products from headphones to Bose in my vehicle. The sound signature of bose is suited for my taste perfectly. Rich and deep Mid range(vocals) great high frequencies and solid built in bass packed into a small package. While this soundbar is a mid tier product, I feel it is a bit pricey in my opinion, but you also get what you pay for so there’s that. This like a few other Bose soundbars lack a dedicated sub as a package. You will need to buy a Bose smart subwoofer, which is fine. The soundbar segment is plentiful tho and I do prefer Bose but the subs(while great) are pricey as well. But I hope In the future Bose starts to include even a basic entry level subwoofer with all of their soundbars.
but let’s talk about the other features this offers. Dolby atmos, I have heard many atmos soundbars. And this little soundbar has better atmos effects than most others I’ve tried. From 2 relatively small up firing speakers at that.(see pics). We could hear jets as if they were above us, rain falling. we like atmos a lot in my family. And it’s only getting better I think. We love watching movies! Arc (HDMI) audio works as it should.you can control the audio with your tv remote. But you also have the option to use the optical input if you don’t have arc/EARC on you tv or you run a projector. Standard small basic function remote works well but you will be mainly controlling the audio through the bose music app. You can fine tune the sound to your liking. It’s very easy to use after you set up through WiFi. Music sounds good to. I’d say it’s solid for music but it won’t blow you away. Again probably because of the missing bass module. Very small package but will fill any medium sized living/bedroom with clear sound nicely. Gets pretty loud without getting distorted. You also will be able to fit this in front of a variety of tvs. Bose included an hdmi cable that is actually Bose branded. Nice little touch!
If you like tv shows and movies and you enjoy the center channel with great detail then I’m sure you know Bose is the best In that department. You can even boost the vocals through the app further if you wish. I wanted to rate this 4 stars because you have to buy a sub, but the sound and the atmos effects out way that issue for me. So it’s a recommendation for me.

I used to be a huge audio junkie when it came to my movies, utilizing a 5.1 then 7.1 setup with huge towers and subwoofer to enjoy the sound but with one major drawback, the size footprint. Enter in Bose back in 2019 into my home with the Soundbar 700 and 700 Bass Module, it was the start of my downsizing in my living room.
When I received the Bose Smart Soundbar 600, I was pleasantly surprised with it including HDMI, Power, and Optical Fiber Sound Cables along with a small remote. Luckily I already had all these run so the plug and play was less than 1 minute and I was hearing the great sound. The Unit powers on in 3 different ways including the HDMI ARC option, remote power and my favorite is the power on by Optical Fiber option. Yes, that is right, now the unit will power on as soon as the TV sends an audio signal through the optical cable, this is the cats a** right here and I have to say hats off to Bose for allowing this as an option in the app.
I love the 700 setup so much much but there was always one thing I was unhappy about and now that is all gone with the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 Series. You may be wondering why and the 100% reason, the 700 was lacking to me is the 600 now has ATMOS support! YES!!! Now I can honestly say, Bose is absolutely killing it with the Atmos added, the sound is that much more correct in my home compared to a movie theater, nothing will replace the movie theater in my mind but man is this close. Dolby Atmos is the most used format and seems to be the choice going forward by almost all movie production companies and I can hear why, the sound from the 600 is amazing when watching an action packed movie in Dolby Atmos yet traditional Dolby sound is still great and actually beats the 700 in all sound aspects.
How can I say it is that close? Bose did that good of a job with the audio design of this subwoofer even the bass is great for being so small. As you can see compared to my Bose 700 soundbar, the 600 is almost 12 inches smaller and puts out much better sound including 10 fold better bass. Want more bass you ask? You Bet!! How? Get yourself a Bose Subwoofer, my 700 Bass Module connected right up to it within the Bose Music App on my Android Device. We will get to the app later.
Now, for the overall sound, the highs are crisp and not overbearing even at the highest level. The mid levels are clean and soft, no hard sounds that make the audio fake, just pure sound like the movie producers wanted you to hear. The bass is clean, not hitting to low, if fades off about 45 HZ and is plenty for almost all movies but when the jets are flying in the best movie of 2022, it kills it with all around sound and brings joy to my face and will yours as well.
Once I added the 700 Bass Module to the mix, BOOM, now we are at the movies. The bass mixed with the new 600 soundbar is something to be heard. Bose back in the 90s and really before 2015 always had unusual muffled sound and the bass was always weak and the mid levels honestly stunk. Whoever Bose hired to start changing the way they sound has made me a believer in their products, simple as that. I next want to test the 700 Series Satellite speakers with this soundbar, Hey Bose, you have a test set I can borrow? Call Me, LOL.
Now, the Bose Music App, tis is the best app yet from Bose, Period! Why, because it works and worked perfectly. I cannot say how the voice commands work yet as they are not enabled at this time and are supposed to be at launch, and if it goes as well as the rest of this test, I see it working perfectly. On to the best part of this app, the audio control. The app my 700 uses is very outdated and minimal adjustments, just center volume and bass level. The new Bose Music App that works with the 600 series is by far superior, allowing full audio control with the High, Height, and Low Levels along side with the Center and Bass levels. The Bass level along with the 700 Bass Module, I can adjust the bass accordingly for all movies and music very easily. The Wall EQ is nice, I wave used it being close to the wall and it does sound different but I enjoy the traditional better. Dialog mode is decent, I actually found it works the best on YouTube channels that are talking most of the time but I have mainly left it off, we want the full experience.
You can see the different in the new 600 on top of the old 700 in the pictures below. My wife and I both will be moving the 700 to our bedroom and keeping the 600 in our main family room because we are that much happier with it. If Bose comes out with a larger unit with Atmos, that is going to be hard not to want it.
Pros:
Small Footprint
Amazing Sound
Easy Setup
Utilizes other Bose Home Surround Products
Android App
Comes with everything to hook it up
Power on through the Optical Fiber Connection
Remote works great for the soundbar
Cons:
Remote is Small, would love support to utilize the larger Bose remote from the 700 series
Nothing Else
I can say this is simply the happiest I have been with a new product in a long time, Bose simply is improving with every new product and in todays world that is unusual and I cannot pass up being a part of the Bose community as they grow.

Easy to use. Clean aesthetic. Dialogue-enhancement mode works. However… Limited, tinny audio. Most $100 soundbars will outperform it across the audio range. Needs separate sub (additional$$) to be a viable solution. Dolby Atmos in name-only. Buy the older Bose Soundbar 700 or opt for a soundbar the same brand as your TV for superior integration. Bose famously fails at price-to-performance comparisons. This is an egregious instance.

Hi Jonathan. Thank you for posting and glad to hear that you find the soundbar easy to use, and like its appearance. With your concern about the sound, have you tried adjusting the bass of the soundbar? Also, it is expected that the audio will focus more on less bass when you have the Dialogue mode on. Please check this article as well about Dolby Atmos, https://bose.life/3UWuDd0. If you have further questions, please reach out to us here, https://bose.life/3BgUIIU. We will be happy to help. Originally had a 300 smartbar, pretty good, but when I heard Bose was introducing an very well priced upward firing atmos compliant speaker I jumped in. HUGE mistake. Lots of popping and cracking, randomly no sound on my Sony Bravia. Got a new LG C1 thinking that'll solve my problem. NO WAY. I've spent the last 6.5 hrs with tech support from Bose and LG with nothing to show for it. Couldn't be farther from plug and play if it tried. Really upset bc I already have the Bose 500 sub and surround speakers. But gonna sell those as well and get something more reliable. This is the worst BOSE experience I have ever had, by a mile.

Superb Sound and Atmos in a Slick, Compact Design

The Smart Soundbar 600 from Bose is a mid-range sound bar supporting Dolby Atmos - a sound format that provides immersive sound adding height to the standard left/right/center sound separation. This can be accomplished by using virtualization, simulating 3D sound using software, or by physically directing sound up and out using dedicated drivers. While the former can be effective, it's rarely as effective as the latter. Thankfully, Bose chose the latter - dedicated physical drivers that directs sound up, as well as side-firing drivers that direct the sound out, and a dedicated center driver for dialogue. This helps create a wide soundstage with overhead sounds which is pretty amazing considering it's a single enclosure that is almost unnoticeable sitting under your television. With its matte-black enclosure and low-profile design, the Smart Soundbar 600 is about as close to invisible as it gets. The soundbar is only 2.2" tall, 4.1" deep, and just over 27" long giving the speaker a low profile allowing it to fit effortlessly under almost any TV without obstructing it.
Given its compact size, sound quality is excellent, both for its clarity and its impressive sound field. The sound stage is much wider than the bar itself, and the clarity of dialouge is excellent, even at it's default settings. While the Smart Soundbar 600 can’t deliver the kind of bone-shaking bass that a dedicated subwoofer can provide, it’s got more than enough punch to TV/movie sound to life, especially in a smaller room such as a bedroom. Not that it needs to be limited to small spaces as the soundbar can get pretty loud without distortion. For being a standalone soundbar — one without a subwoofer or satellite speakers — the Smart Soundbar 600 sounds very good. While impressive given it's compact design, in order to achieve its full potential as a true surround sound setup, an optional bass module and surround speakers are available to complete the setup, though I found the price of the components a bit on the expensive side. Regardless, the soundbar by itself is a huge improvement over the sound that is available from the TV itself.
The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is equipped with Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay 2. It has Chromecast built-in, and you can use it as an Amazon Alexa smart speaker thanks to the built-in mics. Streaming music is a simple endeavor, but while the default settings are great for TV/Movie content, the same can't be said for streaming music as the results were rather dissappointing. Sound was muddled and lacked any of the clarity that stood out while listening to TV/Movie content. There’s nothing available in the way of sound enhancement, with no pre-set EQ settings or even a bass/treble adjustment. Installing the Bose Music app allowed for bass/treble adjustment, which while still lacking allowed me to adjust music frequencies, but enhanced the sound quality considerably, allowing it to become useful as a bluetooth speaker.
Overall the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 offers superb audo quality, particularly for TV/movie content, with clear and precise dialogue, a wide sound stage, and object based audio which brings TV shows and movies to life. While it's a little lacking in bass, it is still impressive given its size. Music reproduction is decent once you install the app.
One downside of this soundbar that cannot be overcome is the single HDMI ARC/eARC connection, as you can’t connect an external video source like a streaming media device and passthrough video to your TV while the soundbar handles the audio. This will limit some setups, so keep that in mind. Another area which it fell short for me as the LED indicator on the device, which is hard to deciper and doesn't even show any volume information.
Despite the few shortcomings, the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is an excellent soundbar worthy of consideration, especially if you have limited space for a soundbar.

The product is working, but the reason for only 3 stars is the way the product was shipped to me, the original box, fully open on one side and barely closed on the other, it was literally an open box product. (Please see the pictures)

I needed a soundbar for my son’s bedroom set up for gaming and watching movies. With all the options out there, it can be very overwhelming. I wanted something that could provide some level of Dolby Atmos and can expand with a sub and surround speakers when I was ready. I chose the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 for just that reason.
Included in the packaging is the soundbar, power cord, optical cable, HDMI cable and instructions. Setup for the 600 is completed through the Bose application available on your phone. Once you have downloaded and created your Bose Music app profile or if you already have an account, you log in. After logging in, you are walked through adding the soundbar to the app. When the soundbar is in the Bose Music app you can select the source which include TV, Bluetooth and Airplay. The other options are Group, Audio and Power. With the Group option you have the ability to add other Bluetooth speakers to the 600 for whole house audio. This is a great feature for music threw out the house during parties. Audio allows you to select whether the soundbar is wall mounted or on a tabletop, set the delay for lip sync, adjust the levels for the center or height channels and set the bass and treble.
Through the Bose Music app you can Airplay or use Bluetooth to stream music from your phone. Streaming music sounds great, full and clear. I was very pleased with the sound quality and volume it produced. When watching movies, the dialog was nicely centered and clear. The overall sound when watching a movie was enveloping with the Atmos speakers expanding the stage. The 600 would benefit from the optional wireless bass module to fill in the lower end.
Overall, this is a great sound bar for any setup whether a gamer, music lover or movie watcher and I highly recommend it.
