Customers consistently note the exceptional sound quality, ease of use, and impressive bass of the Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant. Many appreciate its convenient size and straightforward setup process, although some experienced connectivity issues and found the price to be somewhat high. The user experience with the app and remote control also received mixed feedback. While some praised the sleek design, others found the remote control less intuitive and the app somewhat problematic.

COMPACT BOSE SOUNDBAR WITH ATMOS

The Bose TV Smart Soundbar 600 is the newest addition to the Bose Smart Soundbar lineup. The new Bose Smart Soundbar 600 has a total of five transducers (speakers) comprised of a front facing tweeter to support clear and intelligible dialog, which is located between two upward firing drivers which produce the high, overhead effects for Dolby Atmos. There are also two drivers at either end of the soundbar, which are oriented to each side at 90°. Those transducers are integrated with elbow shaped audio pipes which are ported internally. As has always been the magic with Bose, the Smart Soundbar 600 is engineered to capitalize on reflected soundwaves from the ceiling and surrounding walls to create the broad and immersive spatial sound that Bose invented and is famous for.
The Smart Soundbar 600 has HDMI and optical audio connectivity (both cables are included). The HDMI connection supports HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), which facilitates the use of a single remote control to operate multiple devices, as well as the basic bidirectional communication which allows one device to control another. Thus, powering on the television will also turn on the soundbar. However, when using HDMI connectivity, the soundbar must be connected to the television’s HDMI ARC / eARC (Audio Return Channel) port. All of the televisions that I am familiar with have only one HDMI-ARC port. Therefore, if there is another connected device which requires ARC (such as a Home Theater system), those devices will be competing for the single HDMI ARC port. The Soundbar 600 does not support 4K pass-through, therefore no external video sources can be passed through to the TV using the Bose soundbar. The Soundbar 600 has only one HDMI port for the audio feed from the source TV. There are no other HDMI ports for connecting other audio or video sources.
HDMI ARC / eARC has several advantages over an optical audio connection. Perhaps most important is the capability to support Dolby Atmos, which is one of the significant motivations to select the Smart Soundbar 600. HDMI eARC also has the bandwidth to pass higher resolution audio formats. In the event that the optical cable is utilized in lieu of HDMI ARC / eARC, the Smart Soundbar 600 has an “Auto-Wake” feature which will turn on the soundbar whenever an audio signal is detected through the optical cable. Although optical audio is good, HDMI is superior in several respects. With non-Atmos audio, the “surround sound” and “height” effects of the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 soundbar is synthesized with Bose TrueSpace which upmixes non-Atmos audio to produce the immersive sound that is typical of Bose engineering brilliance, and which capitalizes on reflected sound.
The Smart Soundbar 600 soundbar includes Bluetooth 4.2, enabling the soundbar to be utilized as a speaker for streaming music from a smartphone or other Bluetooth audio source. The rear panel of the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 has the AC power cable jack, HDMI eARC port, optical cable input jack, a 3.5mm jack for an IR Blaster, a 3.5mm output jack for connecting an optional Bose Bass Module (if for some reason a cabled connection is selected in lieu of the available wireless connectivity), and a mini-USB jack for service access.
The Smart Soundbar 600 soundbar is equipped with a compact remote control with the CR2032, 3 volt lithium battery preinstalled. The Bose remote measures only 1-9/16” x 4-1/8”. The remote includes a Power Button, a TV source button, a Volume control rocker, a Bluetooth source button, a Bose Music App button, a Mute/Unmute button and a Play / Pause button for media control. Some buttons on the remote serve multiple purposes, which are explained in the Bose Soundbar 600 Owner’s Guide.
I have held a very favorable opinion of Bose equipment for over 45 years. Bose has a remarkable reputation for brilliantly engineered systems which produce incredible spatial sound using small components including extremely small speaker drivers. I was amazed in the 1970s when I first heard a small pair of Bose bookshelf speakers fill a room with a spatial presence that was incomparable to any conventional, directional speakers. When Best Buy stores equipped their large, CD sales areas (with soaring, warehouse ceilings) with Bose sound systems, it was amazing that the cavernous and noisy space was enveloped in music with incredible fidelity. My last car was factory equipped with an extraordinary Bose audio system, which I still miss a great deal (along with the outstanding car in which it was mounted).
Bose speakers capitalize on reflected sound, rather than only direct projection like most speakers. The spatial characteristics are therefore outstanding. Tiny speakers producing large, space filling audio is the Bose claim to fame.
When selecting a television soundbar, particularly with the hope of enhancing the clarity of dialog, Bose was the primary choice.
The Smart Soundbar 600 is accompanied by a printed quick-start guide, but the full Owner’s Guide must be downloaded from the Bose website.
Setting up the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 was simple and straightforward. If you do not already have the Bose Music app on your smartphone, download the app and after creating a Bose account, follow the instructions in the app to complete the initial setup. After pairing the Soundbar 600 with the smartphone via Bluetooth, the Soundbar 600 is then connected to the home Wi-Fi network for software updates and then the Soundbar 600 is connected to the TV via HDMI or Optical Audio. The app also prompts for adding desired streaming music services and configuring Alexa as your voice assistant using the built-in microphone. The app has nice features including setting up an audio favorites list, source selection and audio source controls.
The Smart Soundbar 600 has the power supply internal to the housing, thus avoiding another space consuming wall transformer.
The physical dimensions of the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 are a very compact 27-3/8” wide x 4” deep x 2-1/8” tall. The black housing is sleek, attractive and modern with a perforated metal front grille. The unit is not heavy at under 7 lbs., but it has a solid and substantial feel to it. A multicolor LED status lamp is present on the upper left of the front housing, but it is often difficult to see, and the colors and illumination patterns displayed require “decoding” with the Owner’s Guide.
I selected the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 as an upgrade to the Bose TV Speaker soundbar that we have been enjoying with our bedroom television since 2020. The Soundbar 600 has a superior feature set and more transducers. Unfortunately, I experienced some vexing connectivity, network and potential compatibility issues between the Smart Soundbar 600 and the particular television model for which I obtained the soundbar. I have been in consultation with Bose engineers and hope that these issues will be resolved. It is possible that the problems that I encountered might be attributable to the HDMI-ARC-CEC. I suspect a device discovery or handshake problem. This is my first encounter with problems involving HDMI-ARC-CEC, which has been in use for several years. Connectivity issues with that particular TV model notwithstanding, the Bose Soundbar 600 has otherwise excellent performance and functionality.
The audio quality produced by the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is remarkable, particularly in relationship to its compact dimensions and the quantity and size of the transducers. Television internal speakers sound anemic once the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 replaces them for audio production. At the default bass setting level, the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 demonstrated a lower level of bass response than I had anticipated. However, the Bose Music app provides Audio Settings including the ability to increase or decrease Bass and Treble and to shift the Center Channel and Height Channel. If more impressive bass is desired, a Bose Bass Module (sub-woofer) can be added. The physical appearance of the Bass Module 500 most favorably comports with the Smart Soundbar 600. Across the audible range, the audio sounds clear and undistorted, even at very low and very high volume levels. The sound reproduction is genuinely excellent, and although perhaps not of the level of a 7.1 channel home theater system, it sounds absolutely great and capably fills the room with high-fidelity audio.
Audio fidelity with Dolby Atmos as well as with Bose TrueSpace synthesized spatial characteristics were equally impressive throughout the room, even when well off-axis from the television. The entire room was enveloped in the same richness, clarity and fullness of sound.
The audio performance of the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 was immediately impressive. All types of programming from dialog heavy news programs to movies with significant music accompanying the dialog all sounded remarkably good and were greatly enhanced. The excellent audio produced by the modestly sized Bose Smart Soundbar 600 was genuinely pleasing and quite impressive. The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 also received a very favorable evaluation from my wife who often finds dialog from the television’s internal speakers difficult to understand clearly. For her benefit, I enabled the “Dialog Mode” in the Bose Music app. My wife was amazed at how clear dialog became with the Bose Smart Soundbar 600, which quite dramatically enhances and clarifies dialog while rendering pleasant and balanced program audio.
We think that the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is excellent, and we are enjoying the enhanced audio that it delivers. I can certainly recommend the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 to anyone who would enjoy watching television with excellent audio reproduction from a compact, unobtrusive and quite remarkable soundbar system.

Crisp, Clean Sound from Bose Smart Soundbar 600

A premier sound product brand since its founding in 1964, Bose is highly regarded for their speakers, noise canceling travel headphones and earbuds and now, soundbars. I still listen to a set of Bose MediaMate computer speakers ca. 1994 and they still sound great.
This new Bose Smart Soundbar 600 falls in the sweet spot under their highly praised model 900 with its separate subwoofer and above the simpler, smaller model 300.
Smart Soundbar 600 features a pair of up-firing speakers under the top grill for the purpose of adding virtualized height, à la Atmos. Its built-in woofers ported to the rear add an element of bass without the separate subwoofer. All of it, the treble, bass, and all other adjustments, features and available content are found within the Bose Music app for both iOS and Android. The soundbar works in concert with a supplied little battery powered remote control.
Technology includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Chromecast compatibility. In addition, find Bose Voice4Video technology and Amazon Alexa built in so users can control the soundbar, cable box, tv or satellite box by voice.
**WHAT’S IN THE BOX**
• Soundbar 600 and wireless remote
• Optical digital cable
• HDMI cable featuring Ethernet
• Power cord
• Documentation including Quick Start Guide
**THE SETUP**
Unpack to see a decidedly simple looking product. Then, see the Quick Start Guide’s four simple steps towards success. Place it, connect it to power, download the Bose Music app, and then launch the app to complete setup.
The user’s phone and the soundbar must be on the same Wi-Fi network, as per usual. Before long, a firmware update will be completed, and then it is time to add optional audio sources, including TuneIn and SiriusXM.
The app is the user’s portal to EQ settings as well as whether the 600 will be mounted to the wall, in which case, the sound profile will be adjusted for bass as well as for reflectivity of the Atmos algorithm’s height virtualization.
TVs equipped with HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) are optimally connected to the 600 in this way, channeling all TV sound through the soundbar.
In my TV setup, however, the optical cable from the TV to the 600 was required because this older TV does not have HDMI ARC. This is how all sound from all TV sources will be available on and the volume controlled from the 600. This is good for users who have a setup like mine, with built-in TV streaming apps, cable or satellite service, an external streaming box, such as Roku as one example. ALL sound is shuttled to and through the 600.
Once the basic & simple set up is complete, it’s time to . . .
**PUT IT TO THE TEST**
The first thing that caught my attention was the crispness and clarity of sound. Would anything less be expected from Bose! Starting with streaming video from premium services, I sampled several movies and audio only sources over the next three hours to get a feel for the Smart Soundbar 600’s capabilities. Wherever possible, sources indicating Atmos were selected. Adjusting treble, bass, and height were easily comprehended.
Bass was good, not great, but subwoofer-like greatness was not expected from a soundbar’s internal speakers when compared to a soundbar with external subwoofer. This is where the Smart Soundbar 600 meets the needs for budget-conscious consumers as well as those who simply do not have a place for an external subwoofer.
Focusing solely on what it can do versus what it cannot do, the perspective allows for an appreciation of its relative diminutive size coupled with that crisp, clean sound described earlier.
Does it have a BIG presence with BIG and room-filling sound? Again, it’s all about perspective. I would not recommend this as the external source from a large and immersive screen beyond 60 inches in a large space, greater than about 12x12. For a large space, more is needed and will be appreciated.
For this space, my space, this soundbar is very nice.
Does it give a true surround sound experience. No, it does not and cannot because there are no rear speakers. The up-firing speaker pair does provide a compelling demonstration of height virtualization.
The more we listen, the more there is to like. The more we tweak adjustments in the app to suit the source, the better we like the performance.
What is it, the ultimate objective of a soundbar in a home theater setup? Why, it is to provide an immersive experience!
Adding accessory Bose wireless surround speakers and/or a Bose wireless subwoofer is possible. Be sure to look for these accessories if they are of interest. They will be required for a true 5.1 surround sound experience.
**CONCLUSION**
As with so many tech products, value is in the eyes and ears of the beholder. For the purpose for which it is intended, I give this Bose Smart Soundbar 600 thumbs up! There is nothing it is built to do that it does not do well. That is why it passes my value proposition test and why I recommend it.
**WARRANTY**
Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is covered against defects in materials and workmanship
by the manufacturer’s one year warranty.

The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 (I’m going to call it the SS 600) came in packaging more befitting a piece of audio equipment rather than extravagant packaging fit for a piece of expensive jewelry - a welcome change from what has become a virtual arms race for one company to outdo the other. Besides the soundbar and remote (with battery), the package contained a power cord, HDMI cable (Bose-branded rather that the typical cheap-looking generic one usually included by other manufacturers), an optical cable, and a very brief quick-start guide. The full manual can be found on the Bose web site and is worth seeking out before setting up the soundbar in my opinion. The “Support” tab in the Bose Music app is less than helpful as the “Common Questions” tab under Support takes you to a “Page Not Found” dead end. Very un-Bose-like.
Set up of the soundbar using the HDMI cable via the ARC port on the TV was relatively simple and painless, although I have had two instances of having to disconnect the HDMI cable and re-connect it to re-establish the connection when the soundbar would do absolutely nothing and the TV resorted to using internal speakers - closing the app and power cycling the devices did nothing to solve the issue. This could be as much the TV’s fault as the soundbar’s fault, however. The SS 600 will turn the TV on and off via the remote control or the Bose Music app on your smartphone when using the ARC HDMI connection (this feature will not work with the optical cable). The soundbar itself has only two controls on it, a microphone mute (for voice commands), and an “action button” to control Amazon Alexa. There is no power button and there is no front panel light to tell you if the unit is powered on or not. There is a multitude of information the bar will tell you via the front panel light, but I suspect few people will see all of them and will have to refer to the manual to see what they mean. The SS600 has five speakers, two that fire upwards, two that face out each end of the soundbar, and one center-firing speaker in the front that handles the dialog. The full manual has some very specific recommendations for placement of the soundbar, so again, it might be worth the trouble to read it.
Speaking of voice commands, the firmware update was supposed to happen after I received the product and I kept waiting to receive some confirmation of it happening, but I could never get the set up of Alexa to complete. It would go a few steps and stop at a white screen on my phone, so I don’t know if the update has yet to happen or if I was doing something wrong either in the Bose app or my settings in Amazon.
The SimpleSync feature worked very well with my Bose SoundLink Mini and allows you to control independently the volume of all the devices connected in this fashion via the phone app.
The sound quality of the SS 600 is typical of Bose products, which in my opinion is excellent (besides the SoundLink, I also have SoundSport earbuds, QuietComfort headphones, and a car with a Bose engineered system in it), but everyone hears a little different and different sound signatures appeal to different people. That said, since the SS 600 does not have a sub-woofer as standard, it does sound a little thin on the low frequency end, but Bose takes care of that with an add-on, wireless sub-woofer along with wireless rear-channel satellite speakers that can be purchased separately. If you plan on wall mounting your soundbar, there is a bracket for that, but it needs to be purchased separately.
There are a minimal number of connections on the back panel. The power cord jack and the HDMI port are angled to force the cables to leave the soundbar in a central orientation to help with a clean install, especially if the wires need to go into one wire raceway located at the center of an installation. These canted ports are a pain when trying to plug in the HDMI cable as opposed to a port that is not angled. I’ve had to plug in the HDMI cable a few times now and it doesn’t get any easier.
I have a small issue with lip sync when using a certain streaming app which I cannot adjust out using both the soundbar’s setting and the setting on the TV, but I suspect it is an issue with the app as the couple other streaming services I have watched have no sync issue. I am also not sure if I am hearing the full surround sound experience that the SS 600 is supposed to provide since the room I have it in has a 12-foot ceiling and the walls to the sides of the soundbar are quite a distance from it. Since two drivers fire upwards and two more fire out the ends of the bar, in my room there are no close surfaces for the sound to reflect off of.
While the Smart Soundbar 600 provides an audio experience better than most flat panel televisions can provide, a true videophile looking for a movie theater-type experience will likely want to purchase the optional sub-woofer and probably the rear channel satellite speakers, which will turn this into a $1400 purchase at full MSRP. The SS 600 does an admirable job on its own for day-to-day television viewing and you get the bonus of using it as a speaker system to listen to music, so it serves multiple functions in a compact and stylish package.

Latest Update Won't Play Nice with my LG TV
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I was really looking forward to trying the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 out with my newest TV, an almost 1 year old LG OLED. After removing my previous soundbar, I followed the provided Start Here guide, plugged in the 600, and downloaded the Bose Music app to my phone. The amber light was blinking on the front of the soundbar indicating that it was looking to connect to the application via Bluetooth.
The connect went smoothly and I followed the app to complete the setup. No problem connecting to WiFi. As soon as the 600 connected, an update immediately began to download to the soundbar. After a few minutes, the download completed and then it took a longer few more minutes for it to install. (The LED lights on the front of the 600 provide indication of the actions.)
Once the update was installed, I finished the first portion of the setup through the app. Now it was time to connect the HDMI cable to the eARC HDMI port on the television, then to the back of the soundbar. The app then led me through setting up the remote to control the television. Then it had me set up to turn TV sound on and off. This is when I discovered that no sound was coming through the soundbar. I thought to myself that maybe the pre-setting of the sound source that I has done on the TV settings had changed from eARC to another setting. I checked and it was correctly set. Still no sound through the 600.
This was totally unexpected, especially since the other soundbar by a different brand, worked immediately and flawlessly with this television. I thought that it must be the 600 or a cable at fault. I unplugged the TV and the soundbar and then I changed out the HDMI cables, still no sound. I switched the setup on the TV to Bluetooth and connected the 600, there was sound, but there was a lag between what was coming out of soundbar and what was playing. This is not unusual for Bluetooth connections. What was unusual, was, when background music was playing in a scene, the music was so much louder, annoyingly so, than the dialog or background noises in the program. At least now I knew that the soundbar functioned.
I looked up Bose's Customer Service / Tech Support phone # and called. By this time, it was later in the evening and there was only about an hour before Bose Support was closed for the day. I gave it a try anyway. I got on and selected to get a call back due to the number of people in front of me. I did not get a call until the next day.
I worked with the regular tech until they decided that it needed to be sent to a Specialist, since the 600 is so new. The Tech was very nice and helpful. We walked through all sorts of different procedures trying to get the 600 to play sound through the eArc HDMI. No luck. We worked on it for two evenings and the soundbar was displaying strange behavior. It was determined that this soundbar would go back to Bose for a checkup by the engineers and I would receive a new 600.
It took a couple of days to receive the pre-paid shipping label and another after that to be notified that a new one had shipped.
A few days later, the new one arrived. That afternoon, I proceeded to setup this new soundbar back on my LG television. I had deleted the Bose Music application and now re-downloaded and installed a fresh install to make sure that all the new information and settings were captured. I stepped through the setup of this new 600. Once again, no sound out of the eARC HDMI.
Again I tried multiple things like unplugging the power and the HDMI cables from both the television and the 600, then waiting a couple of minutes before plugging them back in. This is supposed to reset the HDMI CEC sinking. No luck. This time I called Bose Support early.
Again, I got a very nice and helpful tech. We walked through all the actions that I had become familiar with from the last 600. After quite a while and multiple attempts, we both gave up. She said that I could send the unit back to Bose for repair, but I declined and we hung up.
Then my husband said, why don't you try it on the upstairs Samsung television. I said why not? I hadn't even thought about it.
I took it upstairs, disconnected the soundbar we had up there, and plugged it in. It worked immediately and sounded great! It even allowed me to control the sound through my Roku remote. I was so happy!
The next day, I sent the Bose Tech that I had be working with an email outlining what had happened and the model of the LG that the 600 had not worked with. I asked her to pass this info on and hopefully soon, Bose will find a fix for that model.
In the meantime, I have the soundbar upstairs and have set it up to use with Amazon Alexa and Amazon Music. The sound out of the bar is great and everything is working well.
I now know that if someone buys a Bose 600 and has issues, that Bose will do everything to work with you. Great Customer Service is so important and that is what Bose has provided.
Yes, I would suggest the Bose - Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assist to my family and friends.

Premium Soundbar

The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is a premium quality soundbar that is made to impress.
Pros:
*Packaging: The Bose Soundbar 600 is shipped in an environmentally friendly package with enough packaging to protect the product but no more than is necessary.
*Easy Setup: The total setup time was under 10 minutes. It manual is extremely brief showing ideal placement, how to connect power, and a QR code to install the Bose Music App. From the App you complete the setup. It comes with both an HDMI cable for TVs with eARC support as well as an optical cable. I used the eARC option as it provides better sound quality. Great job Bose for including all applicable cables with your premium soundbar. Many of your competitors do not and this is a reason why I will remain a loyal customer.
* Bose Music App: It is a user-friendly intuitive app. It has several base features on the main page including source, group, audio, and power. It has additional settings under the options tab including standby timer, advanced CEC, power sync, audio settings (including center channel, height channel, bass, treble, dialogue mode, and wall EQ), and voice assistant options.
* Sound: We replaced our current soundbar from a big-name competitor with the Bose Smart Soundbar 600. Overall, this soundbar provides rich, immersive sound in a small form factor. It supports Dolby Atmos and Atmos-encoded content. It also has Bose TrueSpace processing which is a proprietary audio processing technology that analyzes non-Atmos audio signals and upscales it. One of my favorite things about this soundbar is that I can easily understand dialogue. With many prior soundbars and audio systems I have owned over the years, I always had difficulty understanding the dialogue as it sounded muffled. If you have encountered this like me, the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 adjusts the tonal balance of the speakers to improve the clarity of spoken words.
* Accessory speakers: There is the option to add wireless surround sound speakers/bass module to the soundbar for complete surround package.
Cons/Other:
* Voice assistant: I just don’t care to have it connected to voice services like Google or Alexa. If this is important to you, it is included as a feature for the soundbar.
Overall:
Overall, the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is amazing. It has rich, immersive sound in a small sleek form factor. Bose delivered on this soundbar!

I've owned Bose products going on 30+ years now; and have always been impressed not only with the sound, but the build quality. This Smart Soundbar 600 is no exception. Right from the unboxing, you feel the heft & finish of the device.
Setup on the device was relatively painless. Install the provided HDMI cable to the tv (Earc port recommended) and plug it in. Download the Bose Music app, once installed, the app identifies the device, and upon registration it does a firmware update. The app is relatively simplistic with few options, i.e., volume, bass; or if connected to the internet, music streaming is available.
I have the 600 connected to a smart tv that's not so smart. While it does have an Earc port, I've tried 3 different soundbars with it, and it doesn't let any of them control the volume - so I've had to deal with the multiple remote switching. So I was pleased to see that I could now ditch the extra remote - maybe there's something to them calling this soundbar smart!
It does feature Alexa control, if you're not using that feature, there's a microphone icon that allows you to turn off its listening capability. Personally, I've got enough devices following me around the house, I can do without an extra.
The 600 is equipped with Dolby Atmos, I have not had the opportunity to enjoy that yet (need a smarter tv!) but looking forward to upgrade in the future - nice to have that capability built-in.
If there's one downside to the 600, while it does sound rich, it's not capable of room filling bass on it's own. There are satellite subwoofers available for purchase, but the cost is equivalent to that of the soundbar itself. This is why I would recommend this for a midsize room; for anything over say 12x12 you're going to want something with a little more punch.
But, overall this is a nice piece of high tech, and if you're not looking to blow out your doors & windows, a solid choice.

I've never cared for having speakers in the back of the TVs. Sound bouncing off of the wall isn't high quality sound so I turned to soundbars in the last few years and retired my TV speakers for good. When I swapped out by old sound bar with this one, I spent the first few days getting use to all to sounds that were coming through the speaker as if everything was right next to me or something outside my window. Crisp, clear, and natural sound. Watching a movie with two characters having coffee at a street café and being able to hearing conversations and cars going by in the distance that gives the movie a more realistic sound and feel. Playing video games with this soundbar immerses you deeply into the sound of games giving gaming a whole new experience. Connect your phone or other bluetooth device to listen to music.
The bar itself is slim for the amazing sound that it can put out. The Bose music app allows you to adjust the sound settings to suit your needs whether you are watching movies, gaming, or listening to music. There are options for voice assist, but I don't ever really use these kinds of features on any of my devices.
If you want a high quality sound, you really need to give this a try.

Glad to see a new addition to their Lineup. And just like the number "600" suggests in rapport with the entire lineup that's where i would situate it as well performance wise in the middle somewhere.
Very easy to instal nothing special there just download the app on appstore or android and follow the instruction. I used mine in my living room 10ft ceiling for a little and then i decided to move it in a guest bedroom where it shined.
I used it's eArc connection for those who you might have just Arc on your Tv, not to worry it's compatible and let's you consume dolby atmos content the only difference will be eArc to eArc uses it's full potential having a larger bandwidth where Arc alone it's going to use a compressed signal but nevertheless you are all good there either way.
I had to go in their Bose music app to make some final adjustments to Mids-bass-highs to get the best of it. It works great with my Applemusic or Spotify.
I would say it's great for movies and good for music, again keep in mind it's not their top of the line. And all that in a medium size room/living room.

I purchased the Bose Smart Soundbar 300 a year and a half ago and was quite pleased with, however it did not support Dolby Atmos. I had considered upgrading to the Smart Soundbar 900 that has Atmos support, but it was too wide to fit into our media cabinet. When I saw there was a new Bose Smart Soundbar 600, I knew it was the perfect time to upgrade. Very easy to install and use and it syncs up with the Bose 500 sub and wireless surround speakers as easily as the Soundbar 300. Great Atmos performance in a smaller package than the Soundbar 900.

I recently purchased the Bose Smart Soundbar 600, and I've been thoroughly impressed with its performance. As an avid movie and music enthusiast, I was looking for a soundbar that could deliver a truly immersive experience, and the Bose Smart Soundbar does not disappoint.
The audio quality on this soundbar is exceptional. The inclusion of Dolby Atmos provides a three-dimensional soundstage that adds a new dimension to my movie-watching experience. The sound is clear, with rich bass and crisp highs, making every detail come to life. Whether I'm watching action-packed films or listening to my favorite music, the audio quality is consistently top-notch. The sleek and minimalistic design complements my entertainment setup perfectly. The build quality is solid, and the soundbar feels like a premium addition to my living room. The Smart Soundbar 600 justifies its cost with the impressive audio quality and smart features. It's an investment, but one that enhances the overall entertainment experience. Despite a few minor quirks, it delivers a truly immersive experience for movies and music. If you're willing to invest in a premium soundbar, the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is worth considering.

I am writing to express my sheer joy and satisfaction with the Bose Smart Soundbar 600 with Dolby Atmos and Voice Assistant in Black.
From the moment I started using this exceptional soundbar, I was blown away by the incredible sound quality it delivers. The Dolby Atmos technology truly immerses me in a world of rich, detailed audio that enhances my overall entertainment experience. The sound is not only remarkable in quality but also remarkably gentle on my ears, making prolonged listening an absolute pleasure.
The design of the soundbar is sleek and modern, seamlessly blending into my living space. The integration of voice assistant capabilities adds an extra layer of convenience, allowing me to control my entertainment effortlessly.

I've always heard great things about Bose products, but now I'm convinced they're all true. For years we had the Polk Audio speakers with a Pioneer receiver which sounded awesome but took so much space in our apartment living room. The sound bar, bass module and surround speakers are small and don't take a lot of space but sound amazing. Just like being in a movie theater. If you're on the fence about buying, DO IT!

I purchased the Smart Boss Sound Bar 600 from Best Buy a year ago, and it has been an absolute game-changer for my home entertainment experience! From the very first moment I plugged it in, I was blown away by the immersive sound quality. Whether I’m watching movies, playing video games, or listening to music, every audio detail comes through crystal clear.
The setup was incredibly easy, and the sleek design fits perfectly with my living room decor. I love how it seamlessly connects to my devices via Bluetooth, making it super convenient to switch between streaming services and my favorite playlists.
One of my favorite features is the surround sound option—it truly transforms my living room into a mini-theater. I can feel the action, whether it's a thrilling movie scene or my favorite concert performance. It’s like having a professional sound system without the hassle!
I also want to give a shout-out to Best Buy for their excellent customer service when I made the purchase. They were knowledgeable and helped me choose the right sound bar for my needs.
Overall, I highly recommend the Smart Boss Sound Bar 600 to anyone looking to elevate their audio experience. Thank you, Best Buy, for helping me find this amazing product!

Great Sound, Poor Smart Features, Terrible App

The Good: The sound is great for both movies and music!
The Bad:
-- Only supports Alexa! Their other sound bars at least work with Google. I don't trust Amazon and will not use Alexa.
-- While it can be an airplay speaker, it often disconnects. And it won't let you easily adjust the volume!!
-- if you use it with other Bose SMART speakers, it is unable to decently sync the audio between them. You actually have to choose whether to have the sound bar synced with the TV and suffer through the other smart speakers being a second behind, or sync all the speakers together and have them be about a second behind the TV. It's utterly unbelievable.
Sonos & Apple are both able to have their speakers talk to each other without delays like this, so I don't know why Bose can't. (Presumably, if you get the satellite speakers for the sound bar this doesn't happen... or they'd be useless.)
-- they advertise it as being able to connect to their quiet comfort earbuds. I have tried this on several occasions and could never get it to work.
-- they have a feature where it is supposed to connect to other speakers via Bluetooth, but the fine print as it is only the ones that use their custom version. I bought another one of their speakers to do this and the connection is very finicky, has poor sound quality, and like I experienced with their smart speakers, not able to stay in sync very well.
The Incredibly Frustrating:
- Volume can only be directly adjusted with a tiny and easily lost remote, the VERY buggy app, or Alexa.
When hooked up to a smart TV through the arc HDMI, the TV is able to control the volume, though. That is the one reason I am not returning it.
I don't understand Bose!!
- They make incredible speakers but then have an iOS app that is maddeningly buggy.
- They build in smart features, but then kneecap it by only working with Alexa.
- They make it talk with their smart speakers, but yet can't manage to have them stay in sync with each other and the TV.
I got an open box for $350, and it is worth that. For $500, it should work with HomeKit and Google, etc.

Brand response from Bose Support

Hi, thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoy the great sound of the soundbar and that you can control the soundbar volue with the tv control.
I understand your concerns about not being able to use Google Assistant. You are still able to control your soundbar via another google product and the app. As Google is making technical changes to their third-party platform, we are leveraging Works with Google Assistant - which is still part of the Google Home experience through Chromecast built-in.
You mentioned bugs with the app, performance issues with airplay and audio delay when grouping the speakers. As all of these elements rely on Wi-Fi, It is likely that interference is the cause. I would recommend making sure your router or other wireless device is not within 5ft of your soundbar. Interference can also cause issues with bluetooth connections. We also have a great guide that will help you stop intermittent connections: https://bose.life/3R3pBaE
Whilst speakers can be grouped with the soundbar, we cannot recommend using tv audio via Bluetooth. Surround speakers (sold seperately) only plays rear channel audio instead of duplicating it like grouped speaker, which allows for an immersive experience.
You are able to connect third party speakers via Simplesync but we cannot guarantee as good performance as we expect with Bose speakers
If you require further assistance or have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to our customer support team: https://bose.life/3nTDo5H

Love the sound, exactly what i was looking for, sounds clean and crisp across the board, not just for heavy base, though i know that is desired by some, its there, just not over the top which is perfect.
The main issue i have is with connectivity to the app. I like to use the app to control the soundbar but pretty much anytime i leave the house and break the connection it disconnects until i unplug the bar to reset it. Wish you could make it reboot with remote instead of having to unplug it or that it would just stay connected. Its pretty annoying honestly. You dont HAVE to use the app tho, it works flawlessly with e-arc on my u8k which is huge. You could pair it with your tv and never have to mess with it again or have multiple remotes. I just like to use the app for adjustments, see formats ect.
Overall im still glad i went with bose and would buy it all over again.

As others said, good sound but not punchy. Good audio quality, easy to setup, inconspicuos, the safe bet. Perfect fit for my small (12x12ft) tv room. Love the speakers on top definitely makes a difference with the sound to spread even better.

Good sound quality. Not 100% reliable connecting to LG TV even using the recommended set up. Connects to Iphone easy to play music and pod casts. The connection to Amazon Alexa is useless because Amazon does not allow third party to connect to music groups. Can we say Amazon monopoly. Bought for TV use and works for this just have to turn on with Bose controller every once in awhile instead of the LG TV controller. Oh almost forgot I had to get an eHDMI cable in order to be able to connect the BluRay player to the LG TV and have the Sound Bar work. This is more LG TV fault.

This is a surprisingly powerful sound bar with a lot of bass without the added subwoofer. This was exactly what I was looking for in my small to medium size bedroom and this smaller unit fit nicely under my Fire TV I hooked it up too. Looks and sounds great! Love the option to add the subwoofer later, but in current room would be way too much base. Was my first speaker with Dolby Atmos and boy was the sound effects awesome while watching the movie “Fair Play”. Also like the “Hey Alexa” feature and its ability to turn off/on the listening capability from the soundbar. Initially, I thought it was a bit pricey but once I got it home and hooked it up I found it well worth the $449 I payed for it on sale.

Wow this is a fantastic sound bar, and the sound Fidelity is definitely there, you could probably get something better for this price range.
Also, I wish the remote had the ability to adjust the sound mode and turn on dialogue mode. The remote cannot change the base levels or turn on dialogue mode.
Bose is a good name, but they're not a great name. Their name that's associated with being somewhat of a name brand in sound - which means that the price exceeds the quality.
You could probably do better with something from Audio-Technica or Sony. It may be odd to hear me say sony, but they've been known for manufacturing some of the best sound chips ever.
