Way overpriced and barely works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bout the sound bar with surround speakers. Bluetooth setup was confusing, barely worked. Returned it to Best Buy in El Segundo - the manager there threatened me and cursed at me. Will never go back to Best Buy.

Very Poor Response from Bose.
||Posted . Super difficult to set up, returned to Best Buy
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Expected much more from Bose. Hard to set up, disconnected often and had to re-setup each time I turned on TV. Super frustrating. Would never buy another Bose product based on experience with this one.

Posted .Hi Izzy,
There are a few tools available with the soundbar to make sure you get the best sound possible from the soundbar. The first thing to do is always to run the ADAPTiQ process, and tune the sound to your room. To run the ADAPTiQ system, just follow the steps shown here: https://bose.life/2yWfsc2
Once ADAPTiQ has provided a great baseline sound for your room, you can then tweak it to give you the sound you want using the EQ controls in the Bose Music app. The EQ controls can be found under the Audio settings in the app, along with ADAPTiQ. As sound is always subjective, the best way to get the sound you are looking for, is to listen to a movie you are familiar with and tweak the EQ until you have your perfect sound,. You'll know you've found the right settings for you when you hear it!
I hope this helps!

Disappointing at Best, Frustrating at Worst
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Bose, their headphones, the premium system in my car, but at the price Bose is wanting this soundbar is just average, and with some frustrating quirks. Connectivity is one of the most problematic issues with this unit. There is only 1 HDMI port so your only options for a wired connection are optical or HDMI ARC, which is where your TV sends sounds back to the receiver through the same HDMI cable. What this means is instead of hooking up your best source to your soundbar and letting it do the sound processing, you have to connect your source to your TV AND connect the soundbar to your TV. You effectively lose 1 HDMI input on your TV and the responsibility for decoding sound codecs is now up to your TV. In a well designed home theater setup, you do not want your TV to have anything to do with your sound. In my opinion, the omission of an HDMI input is acceptable for a budget soundbar, but not a premium one. I have soundbars that are not only less expensive but include HDMI input and are able to process advanced sound codecs such as lossless Dolby Atmos (and they sound better too). One thing I should mention is that this unit also supports a newer ARC format called ‘eARC’ which allows you to pass sound signals in their highest quality possible but only the newest TVs support that in 2018. So if you want HDMI your stuck with ARC, which usually works fine but with this unit I found it to be very inconsistent. Most of the times, it just wouldn’t work, I would get no sound from the unit, or the sound would cut in and out randomly. I tried on two different TVs, one bought in 2014 and one last year. . So with that I gave up on HDMI and had to rely on optical. At least with optical you can run the audio signal directly from your source to your soundbar but optical cannot transmit lossless audio, so your missing out on the best sound quality if you’re watching a standard or 4K bluray. Again, this is fine for the $250 budget soundbar that I have, but not on something with a premium price tag. Setup is also more complicated than it needs to be. Every other soundbar I have is basically plug in and I am ready to rock and roll. This one forces you to use an app to do everything, including connecting any rear speakers or bass modules. I had extreme difficulty pairing the remote. It took almost 30 minutes and reading a somewhat helpful article on the Bose website to get it to work. You also need to register your email for a Bose account in order to use the app, completely unnecessary for a soundbar. During setup, you can opt to run the ADAPTiQ audio calibration, but this alone takes about 10 minutes as it forces you to do it in a different seating position 5 times. For me, I only have two sitting positions in the room so it would be nice to ask how many times it needs to run. Once you get past all of that, you're hoping to be blown away by amazing sound, but I found the sound quality to be just...adequate. If you’ve gotten used to the tinny sound from your TV, it’ll sound better for sure, but not as good as other soundbars I have reviewed in the past. And if your source does not have optical output then you may have even worse sound quality. The sound when using my Apple TV (4th gen) was horrendous, very unpleasant to listen to. Unfortunately, the ATV only has an HDMI out, and therefore has to go through the TV. Both of my Apple TVS on two separate TV’s had the same issue with poor sound quality. On one, I was able to get decent (not great sound quality) by switching the TV sound output to DTS:Neo, something I've never had to do with the other soundbars I've tested. However, switching to a PS4 or my media PC had much better sound quality, even without changing the sound output settings on the TV. Why the Apple TV in particular was so bad I do not know. This goes back to what I said earlier about not wanting your TV to be involved in your sound. Alexa is a pretty cool feature to have on a soundbar but it could be done better. There were a few cases where Alexa randomly responded when no one asked her to in the middle of a movie or program. Or I would tell her to stop playing music only for it to randomly come back on 30 seconds later. Also, the manual doesn’t say what all you can control with Alexa. I figured out the volume and mute on my own by just saying Alexa Volume Up, Down, or Mute. If I ask Alexa to play music, I don’t know the voice command (if there is one) to switch the soundbar back to my TV input. I have to use the remote. Also, there is no visual indicator on the device as to what volume or input it is connected to. There is just one white light that will blink to let you know she received the command. Pros: Looks Good, sleek black finish Cons Expensive Complicated Setup Only supports HDMI with ARC No support for lossless or Dolby Atmos audio. Subwoofer requires a separate purchase Pairing accessories can be difficult Sound quality is just average Can have sound quality issues with HDMI Alexa has some bugs, could use improvement ADAPTiQ makes you do 5 listening positions even if you only have 1 No visual indication of source, volume, etc. on unit. Overall, for this amount of money there are much better options out there that will sound better, offer better connectivity, and are much more plug and play. Most will even include the subwoofer.

Smart and still Bose quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So besides the top of the line sound that Bose delivers, the Bose Soundbar 700 comes with a couple goodies. For one, the remote with this unit is programmable with up to 3 other devices (besides the soundbar) such as having consoles, TVs, or cable and satellite boxes. Using the app to program the remote was a breeze. A small drawback is the remote uses 4 AA batteries which is 2 more than standard remotes. This model also came with an optical cable and an HDMI cable, which was great. You get Alexa, which you can program with any streaming music service and your Amazon account. If you aren't familiar with Bose, their forte is making high quality and clarity audio and this unit delivers. The only thing I wish it had is support for Dolby Atmos with this level of product. The unit is powerful and you can mount it on the wall if desired. The top of the soundbar is reflective (glass?) So it's beautiful but also fingerprint magnet. The soundbar has an ARC HDMI port and an optical port, so it's best if your TV has an arc port too. Overall, this soundbar delivers and you can pair it with wireless surround speakers and/or a wireless subwoofer for an even more immersive experience. Lastly, the soundbar comes with a microphone that your plug in m position where you tend to sit, and the program will calibrate your audio for the best experience. Highly recommended overall!

Great sound, great looks, software needs some work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review based on the sound bar and subwoofer 700 Model. Pros: - Great sound for music and viewing - Speakers look great and slick - The build quality of speaker and remote are good (Remote feels substantial) - Setup was pretty easy Cons: - Currently, Alexa cannot control Spotify via voice. You need to use the Spotify or Bose app. - The Bose speaker cannot be part of the Alexa group sound. So it will not play alongside other regular Alexa devices. - After two days, the remote connection was lost and I had to connect the remote again. Hopefully, this was just a one-off. - Connected to TV via the HDMI arc input. The audio was out of sync with the sound. I changed the TV setting from Auto to PCM and that appeared to fix the issue with most sources. TV through antenna still seemed to lag on some stations. Hints: Change the sound settings in the app for clearer audio in movies/TV. For my personal taste, +70 subwoofer, +20 for mids and center speaker.

If you're noticing a wider red LED under the front circle icon, attempt a product reset by disconnecting from power for two minutes. The level of audio will be the same as what it was set when the system was powered down. Bose sound and quality, great smart speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched sound bars to replace a Samsung bar that never really worked right or sounded right with my Samsung TV. I found that Sonos had a cool sounding smart speaker / sound bar that sounded like it might be the ticket. I went to Best Buy to check it out and while there listening to the Sonos they had a Bose display with two sound bars that were similar in features. So I listened to all three with and without the additional bass modules. they all sounded good but the Bose 700 was certainly more of everything. I then went home and did additional research across multiple sights and even looked at other options. For me, I liked the smart speaker aspects and I wanted it to work as simple and seamlessly as possible with the TV, other devices and remote controls. In the end a couple of reviews led me to a decision to buy the Bose 700 sound bar as a stand alone unit. The principle reasons were the 700 sounded amazing by itself, granted the bass module knocked you off you chair and money no issue would be an obvious choice. The 700 stand alone is great for my medium size square room application, it is comparable or better on lows than the Bose 500 or the Sonos with their bass module. And cheaper than either of those solutions as a stand alone speaker. It also comes with two cables and a very good universal remote that easily runs the devices I needed. The integration of Alexa is seamless and native music apps work very well. It is truly as advertised being a smart speaker solution and will grow over time to include other features with automatic on line updates. It also has other inputs if needed unlike the Sonos, but my application uses the HDMI / ARC channel perfectly. Others here have stated some of the slight negatives with the Bose Music App being hard to use and setup having issues, which I had some of. But Bose customer support is top notch and were able to get me going quickly. None of those minor issues lowered my 5 star rating because the speaker, its features and primarily its sound are all top notch and as you would expect for a premium solution. Add Bose customer support in the mix and you have exactly what you pay for - Quality Product with better than expected experience!!! Highly recommended for those that want a simple but elegant solution for a TV media room. And you audiophiles can add additional surround speakers and base modules to really fill out the room with sound if you choose.

awesome soundbar system (sound bar and bass module
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a bose sound bar system for several years. I decided to upgrade my lifestyle 135 soundbar system to the new soundbar 700 paired with the bass module 700. After one week I’m very happy with the upgrade. Unboxing: When the boxes arrived, I was surprised by the size of the packaging. Thankfully the soundbar itself is only a little bit longer than the previous model I owned, and it’s noticeably thinner. The bass module is a decent size bigger than the subwoofer I had, so I did have to make some minor changes to my furniture set up to fit it in. The only other thing to note from an unboxing perspective is the lack of including a wall mount in the box with the soundbar (not unexpected). I had to place a separate order to get the wall mount, which I don’t have yet as of this review. Appearance: The glass top on the soundbar and bass module is beautiful! It’s a significant aesthetic design improvement from my previous Bose model, or any sound system I’ve owned from Samsung or Sony. While this isn’t the most important factor in a sound system, it’s nice to have a system that looks great and sounds great. Set up: I’ve seen some negative reviews on this topic, but my own set up could not have gone much smoother. After unboxing and figuring out placement, I connected the soundbar into the HDMI ARC connection, downloaded the bose music app, and got going. The app literally walks you thru step by step, connecting to the soundbar and bass module as needed. It also walks you thru the adaptiq setup; it’s always fun to make the wife move out of your favorite spot on the couch so that the software can configure to your particular room layout. Since I don’t have the wall mount yet, I will have to redo the adaptiq setup one more time, but that’s not an issue, just a minor inconvenience. WiFi set up and connecting Alexa was also simple, only requiring your amazon password to complete the setup. This is my first Alexa device, so it will take some time to remember the correct commands to get her to complete things. I’ve gotten her to tell me simple things like the weather outside and the score of college football games. The remote was only part of the set up that was not seamless. I’ve seen many notes about future software updates for the remote, which I look forward to, but for the time being I need to have a couple remotes handy to completely control TV, cable box, & xbox. I was up and running with everything in about 30 minutes. Performance: I’m blown away by this soundbar! If for nothing else, this soundbar seems to have nailed the perfect balance between dialogue on TV shows or movies and the rest of soundtrack. It was almost worth the entire price of this system to watch something and not have my wife ask me, “what did they just say?” or have to blast the sound to hear characters speak. I haven’t watched that much content that gives the bass module the opportunity to really show what it can do, but some content that I did watch... the storm scenes in The Haunting of Hill House are insane. You can feel the thunder pounding on you and the sounds of the rain coming from the soundbar really make you feel like you are in that house with them. I look forward to having time to sit back and enjoying a lot more. I’ve listened to some music via amazon music, using Alexa to play songs. It works as you’d expect and the music sounds great, filling my entire (small) house. I wish there was direct support for apple music, but I can always connect via Bluetooth to play music from my ipad or iphone. While I haven’t had the chance to yet, I am planning on adding the wireless surround sound speakers to the set up as well. The system makes me what to have the full set up, to experience everything the soundbar 700 system can offer. Overall: This system, the soundbar 700 and the bass module 700, is expensive and it is worth it if you enjoy hearing and feeling sound. There’s little effort to get this up and plenty of awesome sound afterwards. Highly recommended together.

Great Standalone Soundbar.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me say , this is an awesome product for what it is. The sound emitting from this sound bar is amazing, given it is a sound bar. Sound bars aren't always the best in terms of great sounding audio especially on their own. Are there better sounding speakers? Sure. However, if you are speaking in regards to sound bars, this is fairly high up on the tier list. Pros: -This sounds very good with movies. It has a very tight and balanced sound. With the bass module added, WOOOAH!! However, I will review that one on its own. -Great for Hip Hop, EDM, House, and any bass heavy genre. - Very good for dialogue. Once you do some EQing on the app you will love it. - The App is a major pro. I actually really liked it. I love how it has Spotify integrated into it and it is fairly easy to navigate. Cons: - It is great on its own but not amazing. To get this to "Blow you away" you should definitely get the bass module no question. -The remote supplied is a bit confusing. It look nice but you can't really do much with it. To adjust settings on the sound bar or bass module you have to use the app. I mainly use the remote for bluetooth pairing and turning on the device. Everything else was done via the app. This is not a huge con but for the those not to tech savvy, it may be a slight hindrance. - I wasn't a huge fan of this with Jazz and classical music out the gate but after doing some EQing it sounds decent. Again not a major knock on the product but something to note. I did enjoy it more with the bass module and some additional EQing.

Love Bose but not this Soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Bose products. I ignore the nay-sayers and go with what sounds good to me ad Bose sounds crystal clear, crisp and deep. All that said, I returned it the Smart Soundbar 700. Once I got it set up in my room and did the calibrations it sounded pretty darn good. I also got the subwoofer which made a HUGE difference. I really wanted to love it and keep it but untimely I decided to go with the Sonos Soundbar and subwoofer. To my ears, Sonos sounded better and I can use my Apple TV remote to control it. Bose remote looks cool and has a cool concept but when it comes to actually using it, it's a mess. You can't really use it unless the backlight is on to see what buttons are available and the backlight turns off so quickly that there is not enough time to figure out what to push. You can't pair the Apple TV remote to use constantly with Bose. If the issue were just that the sound was not quite as good as Sonos, I would have stayed with Bose because it's not fully dependent upon an app like Sonos. I needed the system to be easy to use for my wife, she doesn't want to mess with electronic gadgets and the ability to use the Apple TV remote for movies, TV shows, music, and games, along with the sound quality makes the Sonos a clear winner for me. I do miss the crispness and clarity of the Bose.

Enhance the Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My family and I watch a lot of TV and movies. We frequently have popcorn movie nights with other family. Its always at our house and we always use the sound bar. Our old sound bar was nice and all but nothing like the Bose 700. First let me start by saying the design of the sound bar is gorgeous. I don't think I have seen a better looking sound bar. Second the sound quality is like none other. I pair this with the Bose 700 Bass Module and together they truly provide an experience I have never had at home. When paired with the bass module you "feel" the bass and when you hear/feel that for the first time its hard to go without it. The setup was super easy with using the Bose Music app and there are a couple nice settings that the app offers. One is dialogue mode. We all know when the background sound is too loud to the point you can't here what is being said. With dialogue mode the voice audio comes forward allowing you to hear what is being said way clearer than you could before. Another setting is the ability to turn the bass module off if need be. In the app you can also play with not only the volume but also the bass, treble and center channel level for the audio. You can use the app to put the sound bar to sleep and to wake it up, which is nice. There is also built in Alexa which allows you to turn on and off the sound bar with the sound of your voice. All of the commands are there that you know and love from Alexa devices. Once thing however is that you aren't able to ask to play music from Spotify on the sound bar. You can use the bose music app and play songs from Spotify or by way of bluetooth from another device but you can't ask Alexa to do so. The remote it comes with feels really nice in the hand as it has a soft touch to it. The best part about the remote it depending on the input you are using the remote will only light up the buttons that you need. Overall this is a really great product and the sound that it delivers is above anything else I have ever listened too. Each and every day I smile when using the sound bar to watch TV or a movie. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to amplify their audio experience in the home.

Overall great, could use refinement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall Impressions: Simple set up and flexibility in the product make this an enjoyable part of my day. Set Up: Set up takes 30 minutes plus if a software update is needed (mine did), but once the update completes the rest of the process falls into place like clockwork. Step 1. Download Bose Music App. Step 2: Follow the instructions in the app. The AdaptIQ calibration system was surprisingly easy to use. You feel a little dorky completing the calibration (You have to wear a headset, sit, calibrate, then move around the room), but once calibrated you don't need to work with the headset again. The Bose Music app has several popular integrations, but I primarily used one. Programming the remote for the TV was as easy as selecting the correct TV brand and pressing the power button. Use Cases; The Bose SoundBar 700 was used alongside the Bass Module. In tangent with each other, it truly changed how I used my living room. Up to this point, my housemate and I have used a bluetooth speaker for music and then ran the TV separately. This set up was fine, but made us feel sad when the TV couldn't produce the depth of sound that we were used to for our music. Because of the ease that the Sound Bar integrated with our favorite music apps, we found ourselves using only the Sound Bar to listen to music. (Turning on the music is as easy as pressing the music source on the remote) The only con of this product is occasionally we had issues with syncing to the voices in a movie. Usually it was spot on, but there were a couple instances where it was delayed by a noticeable fraction of a second. Particularly with the film involved, we knew the dialogue well enough that it stuck out like a sore thumb. Overall, still a positive experience.
