Easily my favorite Best Buy purchase ever. I love how you can hear people talking and background noise isn’t drowning it out. Before this Bose 700 sound bar we needed to turn the volume way up to hear dialogue, then get blasted out of the room from gunfire, explosions, car chases, theme music, etc. Now, all the sound is at the same level with very distinct separation, you only get with Bose. Wish I had bought this sound bar years ago. We also bought the 700 series sub, and it’s an awesome addition. Base is amazing without being overwhelming.

**The One Sentence Summary While the Bose 700 blends stylish aesthetics with exceptional sound quality and Amazon Alexa smart speaker integration to deliver a premium, well engineered elegant soundbar, it may not be compelling enough to attract a growing number of consumers who are also looking for the multi-dimensional enveloping sounds offered by soundbars with Dolby Atmos. **Form and Aesthetics In creating the Bose 700 soundbar, the Bose design team copied the Soundtouch 300's exterior design. If you were to place the two side by side, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference at first glance. The Bose 700 sports the same tempered glass top, metal grille, and physical dimensions. By no means am I criticizing Bose with the lack of creativity in design. Rather I think the soundbar looks awesome and there is no need to change a design aesthetic that fits so well with today's modern home décor. With a low 2” height, the soundbar fits nicely beneath a television without being obtrusive, and that tempered glass top looks amazingly beautiful, adding a very nice touch to the overall look. **Connections The soundbar is connected to input sources either through the hdmi e-ARC/ARC or optical-in. Audio devices can also be connected and streamed via bluetooth. **Setup I'll have to admit this is one of the more time consuming soundbars to set up. It took me around 20-30 minutes to fully set up the soundbar. The entire set up process is done with the Bose Music app that you'll need to download onto a smartphone/tablet. Once you install the app, you'll be guided through the steps to set up a bose account, connect to your wifi, connect to your Amazon account to use Amazon Alexa, use the AdaptIQ headset to help optimize the soundbar to the acoustics of your room, and set up the universal remote control with your television. It's not difficult, it just simply takes time to do. Also, I recommend that you download the user manual from the Bose website to get the most out of the installation. **Bose Music App The music app is a wonderful addition to the soundbar. With the app, the treble and bass levels can be adjusted in fine increments of 10 from -100 to +100. One of my biggest complaints about Bose is the lack of treble control, and it is great that Bose finally provides treble adjustment since this function was lacking in the Soundtouch 300 and would have made for a much cleaner and clearer listening experience. You can also store up to six of your favorite preset music stations in the soundbar using the app. The app will also allow you to connect to a select few music apps via wifi. The selection includes iHeartRadio, Pandora, Spotify premium, Amazon music, Deezer, SiriusXM. **Audio Performance and Quality Let us not forget the whole reason for the soundbar. Just how does it sound? I've owned or tested dozens of soundbars, and I have to say quite frankly that the Bose 700 ranks up there as one of the best in audio quality for music, television, and cinema. Sound is rich and balanced. I tested every genre of music I could think of from bass heavy tracks to instrumentals and vocals, the Bose 700 simply delivers clean, clear sound. Bose's audio engineers did a superb job. Crisp highs come through nicely and sparkly. Mids are accurately rendered. And upper and mid bass come through tight with power and punch without any boominess. I was surprised that the highs and mids still come through crisp and clear even after adjusting the bass to the maximum on the soundbar. Well done Bose. Typically, on other soundbars, the entire audio frequency spectrum gets dragged down when the bass is increased. One other thing worth mentioning is how well the soundbar alone can produce bass sounds even without a separate subwoofer. Most soundbars depend almost entirely on a separate, bulky subwoofer unit to produce the mid and upper bass frequencies. The Bose 700 soundbar on the other hand does well on its own without the separate bass module. For television and cinema, the dialogue setting in the app adjusts the mid range frequencies so that dialogue and vocals become more prominent and center stage. This makes is much easier to listen to programs with a lot of dialogue. **Amazon Alexa It's a given that nearly all speaker systems today come equipped with some type of smart speaker integration. The microphone on the Bose 700 does a fantastic job picking up my voice from across the room even with the music playing. The integrated Amazon Alexa functions exactly as you would expect from any other Amazon smart speaker device. Through the Bose 700, you'll be able to issue commands to Alexa to control your connected home devices. And if you don't like having the thought of Alexa listening to you all the time, you can silence the microphone. Personally, I have too many smart speakers in my home already. I really didn't care much to have another Alexa device in the soundbar. **Shortcomings As good as the Bose 700 sounds and looks, Bose doesn't capitalize on the latest trend of employing speakers with surround sound Dolby Atmos technology. Many soundbars today offer Dolby Atmos with their speakers to create a more immersive 3-D enveloping sound. It would have been great to see this technology incorporated in the present line up of Bose soundbar offerings. Perhaps, Bose can do it in the next soundbar iteration. **Cons -No NFC to facilitate bluetooth connection -No HDMI pass through -Does not include wall mounting brackets -Expensive **Do I recommend the Bose 700? I think that if you're in the market for a premium soundbar and have a large budget, the Bose 700 should be on your shortlist to audition. The superb quality, aesthetics, and excellent sound quality are factors worthy of consideration. On the other hand, the soundbar is very expensive. For the price of the Bose 700 soundbar, you will be able to purchase a decent 5.1.2 soundbar system with sub-woofer and rear surround speakers. My recommendation is to experience the Bose 700 soundbar in person at your local Best Buy. Let the audio quality tickle and entice your ears. You might end of purchasing the soundbar.

I did not faced major issues when setting up for first time. Firmware update took time the worst part is there is no indication of what is happening during upgrade. Initially I though it update broken but finally came up after 10 minutes. I connected sound bar via Bluetooth to iPhone and Anker soda can projector. sound quality is excellent as I know that Bluetooth is not correct source of testing this sound bar sound quality but it is still good. sometime 1 or 2 second sound is dropping from my iPhone. yet to find why. bar is lacking physical button which is essential when remote is not working/available.

Sound is decent but could be better. Rear surrounds lost connection once already. The remote is the worst and most frustrating device I’ve ever laid hands on. It’s dorsnt work properly with either my Sony TV, Apple TV, or my PlayStation. The pairing instructions are mediocre at best. They should add a drop down menu for models. When you add Apple TV it tells you to try it but doesn’t tell you what to look for. Menu? Powering off what??!! It didn’t do anything so I put in my model number and still didn’t work. Tried having the Apple TV learn the Bose with the Apple set and it kept telling me that I had already used the up/down buttons which in turn tells me the remote is misprogrammed by Bose and sending out duplicate signals. Controls Sony TV power but can’t select the Input. Again a model pull down would be helpful. Even though I entered my model. Forget the PlayStation it doesn’t do anything for that. These are standard devices and the fact that I can’t control them is mind blowing. This remote is an expensive brick and as an engineer I’d be embarrassed to put such a piece of junk into production.

I was on the fence for a few months on wether to purchase the Bose 700 soundbar, the Samsung q90r or the Sonos playbar. The sound quality just can’t be beat with Bose. Yes, Atmos is available with Samsung soundbar however you still have sound bouncing off walls with Bose to give you that surround feeling. I also added the wireless surround speakers and the base module so the rumbling coupled with the bar and surround speakers completes the package. I’m happy will my decision!

I give the Bose Soundbar 700 a five star rating. It took a little bit to figure out how to set it up but it sounds great. I can listen to radio stations and Alexa turns on my TV. I have to say I disappointed with the Bose 700 subwoofer. I had to take it back because it sucks. I looked at the one set up at the store and it had the same problem as the one i bought. There was no thundering base to it. we put our ears in front of it and had to feel it to see if it was working. For 700 dollars it should have rocked the house. Very disappointed.

    Soundbar Upgrade

The Bose Soundbar 700 is an upgrade from my old Vizio 5.1 soundbar system and, man, what a difference. Dialogue is crisp, bass is deep (especially combined with the Bose Bass Module 700), and having Alexa built-in is a slick little feature. Setup and pairing with the Bass Module 700 was pretty easy, definitely none of the headaches that others have complained about. The universal remote took a moment to figure out, but once I got the hang of things it also paired quickly (under 30 seconds) with my setup: Samsung Q8, PS4, Nvidia Shield, and Spectrum DVR. Is the remote perfect? No. But I'd expect that from any universal remote. And this thing is just nice to look at. It's clean, refined, and looks like you paid a pretty penny for it (which you did). Same for the Bass Module 700, but that's another story. Now, the app is were Bose loses a star. I get that this is a "smart" soundbar, but you should still be able to control more than just on/off and volume with the remote. Additionally, the app requires a few restarts before it will connect with the soundbar, even while the soundbar is on and playing. The dialogue enhancement, which is only found in the app, should have the option to be on at all times (it auto-defaults to "off" after soundbar is off or in rest mode). And there really is no equalizer to play with, only a tremble, bass, and sub control. Hoping the app gets some updates over time (wink, wink Bose).

This Bose 700 is everything I expect in a great sound-bar and more. It’s very easy to set up and the sound is extremely clear. You can control the bass and treble from a Bose phone app. I assume that there are speakers in each end. Sometimes the sound from in end or the other reflects off a wall to give you a sense of surround sound. I also bought the Bose 700 bass module. As a plus, it notifies me when Amazon delivers a package. I couldn’t be more pleased. One caveat: it is pricey but you do get what you pay for.

I had an Acoustimass 10 system (previous gen) with a Yamaha receiver that I was content with. We moved into a new house with an open floor plan, installing the Acoustimass would have been a very big undertaking with unknown results due to the lack of walls, so I just included it in the sale of my old house. After a lot of research, I decided the Bose 700, Subwoofer, and wireless speakers would be the way to go. I am glad I did. It is a very clean install with a small footprint. The bar went under the TV with the subwoofer sitting next to the TV / Entertainment center. I put the wireless surrounds on top of a kitchen cabinet and a tall cabinet in the living room. Not a single cord showing and install took maybe 25 minutes. App installation and setup for Wifi only took a few minutes. I have an Apple Time Machine for a router and had zero issues. After a week I still have zero issues with WiFi. All speakers have stayed connected. The app for calibrating was easy to use and seemed to tune the system well. I did get error messages at first, I unplugged the headset and reconnected and everything went smooth after that. I initially set up just the bar and woofer - sound was fantastic with a sense of surround as sound was bouncing all over the place. It really does fill up the room. With the surrounds added in, I am beyond happy!. It sounds like I’ve got speakers all over the place in my house. Sound coming from everywhere. Compared to Acoustimass & Receiver: The AM sounded fine, and was more likely than the 700 to knock you out of your chair... A little more in-your-face on some movie scenes. But, I like the Soundbar and surround set up better for overall audio quality. The surround effect, the feeling of being in the scene is better with the new setup. No regrets “upgrading” from Acoustimass at all. Music sounds better on the new set up than the old (for my ears). I use Pandora, love being able to hit the music button on the remote and have instant music playing, big plus for me and my wife. 4 stars instead of 5 - I was unlucky enough to have a Sharp TV 60”. Apparently, that TV doesn’t allow the pass through of audio from devices connected via HDMI to the optical audio port. And the TV does not support ARC HDMI audio. Not really Boses fault, but I called Best Buy and Bose and both told me my only option was to buy a new TV or return the bar, no suggestions at all. Really poor support on both parties. Just for giggles i ordered an HDMI switch that has an optical audio out and it works just fine. Cost me $60 instead of a new TV. Very unimpressed with support from BB and Bose. While the switch isn’t an ideal solution, I will use it until my TV needs replaced, then make sure I buy one that meshes well. In my research, a lot of peoples issues revolved around which TV they used, so do your research. My opinion is that this isn’t a Bose issue, I think it’s the nature of soundbars or any AV system connected without a dedicated receiver. Problems are so common that I find it unnacceptable that Bose or Best Buy will not give some better guidance. Overall, very happy with my purchase, very high quality audio, very good surround, and the bass is fantastic. I did use the Bose app to tweak the volumes and I am more than happy.
