Did not solve audio problems for us
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We built a new home and moved into it in March. We had Best Buy advisor come in to evaluate the area to tell us what we needed for TV, audio, etc. The 1st system was terrible. We could only understand commercials- no TV shows, movies, nothing. We had Geek Squad out multiple times and were told that we needed a new sound bar. Of course it was one of the most expensive. Did it solve the problem? Audio is louder but still unable to understand most movies or TV shows. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

Posted .Hi there,
I'm sorry to hear of the difficulties you are experiencing with your Soundbar 700.
In this situation, I would recommend giving dialogue mode a try. You can acess this in the audio sections of the circle icon in the bottom right of the Bose Music application.
Thanks!

Posted .Hello, Rbostic18.
Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the Bose Soundbar 700. We're thrilled to hear you're enjoying the powerful and deep audio performance. However, we're sorry to hear that you are experiencing some difficulty with Alexa and the Bose Music App. We're happy to provide some troubleshooting tips that will help you enjoy your soundbar even more. For help with Alexa, please see the steps available on our website here: https://bose.life/2pOXakD. In regards to the Bose Music app not seeing the soundbar, we suggest determining if the soundbar is making a reliable connection to your router. You'll want to go to the soundbar's Product Info screen in Bose Music app and check the RSSI Signal Strength. The number will range from -30 dBm (best signal) to -90 dBm (poor signal). If the connection is poor, consider relocating the router and/or product or reducing sources of interference to improve signal. If additional assistance is needed, we encourage you to please reach out to our Bose technical support team. We thank you for your feedback and interest in our Bose products. All the best, Ashley - Bose Support

Bose quality in a smart soundbar
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a Bose product so you can already expect it to be quality. When I opened up the box I was beyond impressed with the build quality. The model I got was the black one. It has a nice expensive looking glass top on it that makes it look classy. It has a nice mesh grill that wraps around. The soundbar is also almost 40in long. This soundbar will give your entertainment system a nice look to it. It comes with a power cord, HDMI cable, Optical cable, batteries, remote and a AdaptIQ Mic for calibration. Setup is super easy with the Bose Music app, just plug in the soundbar, download the app and apply your settings. I was done in no less than 10 minutes. This soundbar does have Amazon Alexa built in and I thought why would I need this in a soundbar?? Boy was I wrong, I can adjust the volume with just my voice instead of reaching for the remote. Pretty convenient while I'm playing video games and I have both hands on the controller! I can also ask it other Alexa related questions like whats the weather and also stream music straight from the sound bar. Now for sound quality, the soundbar on its own provided clear and accurate sound. The center channel is precise for dialogue when watching movies. It also has a decent amount of bass coming from it, but for the true experience you may want to pair it with the Bose Bass Module 700. Eq setting can be adjusted within the app also for bass, treble, center. I also like the little light that activates when you talk to Alexa, it looks neat moving back and forth when interacting with Alexa. I am really impressed with the Bose Soundbar 700.

Worst Engineering Dept Every
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every couple of months they release buggy firmware and fail to listen to the hundreds of customers telling them its broke. They blame everyone but themselves and leave us paying a premium for paper weights. Very Frustrating and will not buy Bose again. Sounds great though, when they don't make it not sound at all.

nowhere near worth the price tag
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I get into specifics, I want to preface this by saying that this was a really difficult review to write. When I first opened the box (actually boxes, I got this soundbar and the subwoofer at the same time) I was very excited to get them up and running. My excitement was quickly tempered by confusion, then frustration, then finally disappointment. The slogan for this soundbar, “Designed to be the world’s best soundbar” could not be further from the truth. the good: - design - I personally love the sleek design. Very small footprint, as well as glossy black finish. Looks great next to the TV. - unfortunately that’s it. I couldn’t think of any more good things to say about this soundbar. the bad: - sound quality - As I write this I’m struggling to figure out the best way to describe how inadequate it is. It’s not especially bad in terms of clarity or balance. It’s just…meh. It sounds just like it’s physical footprint, very small. Zero low end, assuming you don’t purchase the sub as well. The best way I can desribe it is to pass along something my wife said, after the configuration and setup were complete. “Oh, that sounds better!”…after I had turned it off and only the Samsung TV speakers were playing. My wife…a non-audiophile, non-tech, non-gearhead…thought the TV speakers sounded significantly better than the $800 soundbar! - pairing / setup - This part is meant to be automatic, but I had quite a few problems getting the soundbar to be recognized by the Bose Music app. Turn the soundbar on, off, on, off, restart the app multiple times, finally recognized and paired. - limited connections - Only one HDMI input, which might not sound like an issue, but if you use an external media player (I tested with the Apple TV) you can’t connect the player to the soundbar, then back to the TV. You are stuck using the TV as a passthrough. If your TV can’t handle that (input from the media player, output to the soundbar) then you have to use optical out, assuming your TV has one. This would be fine, but then you are required to use Bose remote, since there is no HDMI CEC control over optical. Big oversite in my opinion, especially on a top of the line, super expensive soundbar. - no Atmos - With all of the other options out there, how is it that we are limited to lossy sound? No HD decoding, no Atmos. At this price point, those are massive misses. - no internal display - Most soundbars, certainly the higher end ones, have an internal display to let you know things like volume level, input, power on/off status, surround mode, etc. This soundbar has none of those things. Is it on? Is it off? I have no idea. Will the volume blast me out of the room? Again, not a clue. - price - At $800 for the soundbar alone, I would expect sound quality approaching stellar. Another $700 for the separate subwoofer (that’s $1500 total) just to get the sound quality up to “slightly better than internal TV speakers”. In my opinion, way overpriced for what you get. overall: Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to love this soundbar, this is a big miss for Bose. Overpriced, underperforming, and unjustifiably missing standard features. 2 stars.

Posted .Hi Bd43274,
Thanks for taking the time to provide a review of the Soundbar 700, we appreciate the thoroughness. We understand that it did not quite live up to your expectations, and are sorry for that.
Dolby Atmos requires upward and downward firing speakers which we do not have any plans to integrate but we appreciate the feedback and we'll pass it along to the product team. Dolby Digital and DTS are the formats we currently support.
We really would like for you to enjoy your Soundbar 700 as well. If we can be of any assistance to you, please feel free to join us on our Community: https://community.bose.com/

Great sound...when it works.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Bose 700 sound bar and 700 bass 2 weeks ago and I am returning it today. I have no issue with the sound quality...it is excellent...however, there seems to be an (known?) issue with the HDMI Arc connection AND the universal remote that Bose Support was unable to solve for me. Based on the questions/comments on the Bose Support site and various other troubleshooting message boards online, this seems to be a fairly common issue that Bose has not been able to totally solve yet. There appears to be some workarounds that (temporarily) fix the issue for some, but not me, and even if they did I don't want a $1500 sound bar/bass combo the needs to periodically be reset, unplugged or reconfigured to work...so back to Best Buy it goes. Today.

Not worth the $$$
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was fairly simple. Worked great for first day. Second day had to remove and reinstall everything to get it to work. Worked rest of day 2 no problems after. Day 3 rolls around and same thing. It somehow disconnects from TV and I had to completely uninstall and start over. Taking it back. Very disappointing, I have always been a fan of Bose. Not sure they are worth the price tag anymore.

Incredible Sound Reproduction
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First Impressions Bose surpassed my expectations with the Soundbar 700, the unit produces an incredible immersive experience in a very small package; I mention that because I have had a competing product that starts with “K” and is a behemoth in comparison. The build quality and packaging of the unit was just as you have come to expect from Bose, very high end and an excellent product in a “right sized” package. A nice add on is that every Bose product I have owned has always included every cable, fastener, zip tie etc. you would need to set up the system; so no running out to the store to try and find the one missing piece. Testing I tested the Soundbar using Marvel Avengers: Infinity War, it was as realistic as sitting in the theater with every thunderous boom and background sounds separated for the 360 degree listening experience. I will tell you though, that you need to take your time and properly setup/tune the system beforehand. I also want to be completely honest about the instructions, not the clearest ones I have seen but the saving grace is the smartphone app; it makes the setup very simple and logically steps you through the whole process of tuning. Tuning The tuning utilizes the ADAPTiQ headset (more of a headband device), this plugs into the back of the Soundbar to a dedicated port and will guide you through moving around the room in various spots which it then uses the info to custom tune the system and match the acoustics of the room; this is a pretty incredible piece of technology and worked excellent for me. I also want to point out if you have the surround speakers or subwoofer, make sure they are setup prior or you will have to run the ADAPTiQ setup again after you install them, trust me is well worth it to go through the setup process. There are also numerous YouTube videos available on the setup if you get stuck and they are very informative. I did a test by just setting up the Soundbar right out of the box with no further tuning, while it did work and sounded good; the ADAPTiQ tuning feature brings the system to whole new level of sound reproduction. Remote Control The remote is interesting, I am on the fence with this one; on one hand is very neat, clean and sleek but it can be sometimes difficult to quickly find the button you need. The remote when not being used is a very high tech looking solid black and the backlit functions are a nice crisp white. They have a sensor type of technology that will only light the remote when something is pressed or you pick it up or move it. The one thing that I will have to get used to is the fact that it only lights the buttons/functions that have had a previous use based on what was set up for the system. I am not sure but think it will grow on me in time as it does compliment the cutting edge design and features of the system. Extra Feature Now on to the included Amazon Alexa, this is a nice to have feature in any system; personally I use Alexa daily for various things from checking the weather to playing music. The ability to have your complete Prime library at your fingertips and seamlessly integrated is a very nice extra to the complete package that Bose offers Summary The final summary is the Soundbar 700 produces a highly realistic theater experience, very immersive sound with the ability to fine tune for the specific layout of rooms; in a space saving package. My last thought would be while the system is not “plug-n-play” in a sense, taking the time the properly set it up makes a huge difference in the overall performance. I would highly recommend this to anyone because the bang for the buck far exceeded my expectations and left my previous “K” brand in the dust.

Firmware Broken by Bose
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bose recently pushed a firmware update that causes the right channel (?) to crackle unless, in my case at least, I set my Apple TV to stereo only sound (no surround). It’s not the Apple TV - it’s a well known recent Bose firmware issue... see the Bose community forums. Very disappointing experience with such an expensive purchase that started out so great. Knowing about the problem, they should roll back the firmware update, but nothing has been done. Buyer beware.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on our Soundbar 700 system.
We understand the frustration that this audio issue would cause, and would be happy to assist you here!
We recently released a software update that was aimed at fixing issues with the surround speakers for this system.
Starting on the 4th June 2019 the updates were pushed out for these speakers, but could take up to 48 hours for your speaker to receive and start this update. In the meantime, we would recommend that you leave your soundbar idle and connected to the network between the hours of 2:00 AM - 5:00 AM local time to get the update!
Once you have performed this update, we would advise setting your sound type back to 5.1 surround sound once more and confirming that this has resolved your issue.
We apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused, and hope to get your audio quality back to the high standards that you expect from our products.
Have a great day!

Popping noises from sub woofer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Irritated that I could not control the volume with my Apple TV remote. The remote for this thing is huge and it doesn’t control any aspect of the sound except the volume. You have to use an app on your phone to tweak the sound. With a remote this size, you should be able to turn up the bass on the sub. The sound bar sounded great, but the sub constantly made a popping noise. Bose says it’s interference. It sounds great when it’s not popping. For the money I spent on the entire set (sound bar, sub and rear speakers), it shouldn’t pop constantly. I just returned the entire system today. If you want to use your Apple TV remote for volume, don’t buy this. Bose knows about the popping issue. The sub isn’t blown. It pops watching TV with no bass. It also pops listening to music with base. Otherwise it sounded great when it wasn’t popping.
